Was very laid back experience the price on the bowl was a little high for what I got but it was pretty good. The service was very nice and made a lot of jokes although some don’t always land it was a great experience however it can be awkward at times. The place was very quaint and had more of a rustic feel it was very packed as well when entering with a lot people there for pick up. There wasn’t much space between tables but it wasn’t too packed.

Overall great little strip mall family style Japanese restaurant. We came here specifically for the rolls to try to find a sushi spot in Chula Vista.Parking - Not too much parking inside, so just fyiSeating - wrote our names down, waited say 15-20 minutes for a table to openDecor/Ambiance - izakaya style decor, really made me feel like I walked into a restaurant in Japan! (Ive been!)Service - very polite and friendlyHappy Hour - get there before 7pm for cheap beer during happy hour!Sushi - Orange Roll and Hawaiian roll - really good! The sauce on the Hawaiian roll is so different, I will come back for this roll! Salmon Sushi is good, but not the best weve had.Overall, Ill definitely come again!

We went and asked what the best ramen is. The cashier said just to pick a broth and that was the only difference. Went home and a friend asked if we put pork belly and egg in it. Didnt even know that was an option, would have been nice to have been given more options. The ramen noodles were wonderful. We tried each broth, my favorite was the Chula Vista broth.

In total we got 2 rolls, some shrimp tempura, Japanese fried chicken and a teriyaki chicken bowl- spending roughly $80. The shrimp wasn’t friend enough, and was soft, same with the friend chicken. The teriyaki chicken bowl was tiny, had a BUNCH of onion, and honestly I’ve had better frozen options then they have the nerve to charge $18 for it. The shrimp tempura roll was good and tasted fresh but the spicy tuna roll tasted so bad I left it on the table at the restaurant. Wouldn’t go back and tbh I don’t recommend. Staff is awkward and seem rushed when it wasn’t busy.

Awesome experience! Very cute hole-in-the-wall with speedy and friendly service. The chef also checked in to see how our meal was, which was really cool. The Chula Vista ramen was absolutely delicious, as was the plum wine. Highly recommend and hope to go back soon!

We had dinner at this place tonight. My god, everything was amazing! We tried the Algo Refrescante and Hawaiian rolls. They were the best sushi I have ever had. We also tried the Chula Vista ramen and that was amazing as well. There was a bit of a wait to get in, but the staff was super nice and courteous to everyone. The wait staff was cool as heck. They were all very attentive and welcoming! The green tea was amazing. If I were you, Id get down there and try everything! Were definitely going back soon.

This is a Hidden Gem. An Izakaya truly Hidden in the Leaves! I was surprised how much this place has changed from years ago, prepandemic. Wasnt impressed when we went years ago with my mom. Years later, after pandemic, this place has great Chicken Ramen! Sushi was good too. Im glad we dont have to go all the way to Convoy for Great Ramen anymore. The staff are good as well. Wednesday night at 6:30pm, wasnt busy at all. We were sat at a table within minutes (no 30 minute-1 hour wait). My wife and I recommend their Surpicy Ramen ($17) w/Ramen Egg ($2) and Nori ($1). If you order that, you can get an 8 piece Cali Roll for ($5). Even the Sushi was good! Fresh ingredients! Great Chicken Broth!!! Ichraku Ramen/Naruto Ramen! The only drawback was that my water wasnt refilled and we werent checked on. Also, I believe there were others seated before us and we got our food first. Maybe they were just a little unorganized on who was taking whos orders and who sat who first. Hence, 4 star rating. Reading other reviewers reviews, the rules posted were made during the pandemic when city ordinances mandated restaurants to abide by mandatory mandates or be fines and or closed down.

All of the rice in the sushi seemed old and it was dry. The fish on our sushi rolls seemed like it was left out for a couple days and they just dumped spicy House sauce all over it which tasted horrible. We only had one piece of each roll. The ceiling has stains and there are wires sticking out around the restaurant. The staff were very unorganized and had zero communication. There were also gnats flying around our table. Definitely do not recommend.

Top notch ramen. They have amazing people to greet you, and it is such a chill environment inside. No fluorescent lights is a great addition, as well as the cool servers and chefs. I recommend the spicy edamame and the Supicy ramen. AMAZING! It has the perfect tangy and spicy flavor, I love it. The Chula Vista ramen is also delicious. I will be coming here again!

I have had my share of sushi. Different areas in SD..CV..but this place takes the cake. Quality fresh ingredients. I love everything Ive tried here. This is our go to place for Sushi...try this little hole In the wall. You will not regret it!!!! Their prices are Very reasonable...and the quality and quantity of food you get is on point. I will not go anywhere else. Ohhh and customer service is 5 star! I keep coming back. Orange Lemon roll one of my favorites! Salmon skin roll is crispy and excellent! Simple DELICIOUS California roll on point. FRESH FRESH FRESH!!! Once you go here, this will be your go to place!

Order our food, got her food pretty quick the presentation of the plate was really pretty the food was delicious. We got many rolls we probably ended up eating half of what we ordered because they’re a big rolls they give you enough quantity. The spicy mayo sauce for me was the best part because I love it and it was super because it was just the perfect taste it wasn’t too main easy or too spicy so it was perfect they brought us an extra pitcher of water because all of us ordered water besides our other drinks.Will be returning to this place many several times even though I live all the way in the El Cajon area I will be driving down here is totally worth it.Rolls that I recommend the gorilla one and the abre la boca mucho one. The abre la boca mucho one was cute because it had mint little shrimp on top!!!And the staff was friendly clean place very small but it’s totally worth it.

Found this place on a whim and decided to go check it out and I am so glad I did, went with my teenage kids and I ordered a veggie roll that was topped with their lemon mayo sauce and the presentation and flavors were fabulous, my oldest ordered the sup picy ramen with chicken and we both thought it was friggin delicious, you can tell that the staff enjoy working there because they really brighten up the place with their fun personalities, I would definitely recommend giving this place a try

Unexpectedly great food. The place looks run down but the staff is very sweet. The shrimp tempura with lemon mayo starter was just ok, needed to be crunchier. The sushi rolls were really good, and the soups looked great. Plus, it is cheap

We used to order alot from this place because they are really good at their sushi rolls, especially their Abre La Boca. It sucks because I think they know that people love their sushi so they raised prices to their advantage. Now when we order our same order for pick up its almost $50!! I could use that money for a real meal at Applebees!! We used to order alot from here but now its been off for almost a year and a half till today. Food has my 5 stars because it still taste just as good today but bad service for higher pricing on all ordering platforms and never answering the phone or not accepting orders alot of the times. Ive moved on from here. 😔

This a a premier Sushi Restaurant in Chula Vista. Its a small family run place but the quality of the sushi is superb. Be prepared to wait an hour or more to be seated. There are often lines outside waiting to dine, even in the cold of winter. For the best shot at getting seated right away, arriving when they open is a must. Dont be surprised to see a few people who arrived early before they open, waiting outside.Really the Sushi is outstanding, the staff very friendly and courteous. The food is an art to them, and the fashion of flavors hit every craving you could have, from spicy to sweet and anywhere in between. The Go-go Godzilla role is a must for anyone who like tempura.The Chula Vista ramen with cilantro is delicious! They serve huge portions and they’re piping hot. The Cajun roll with tuna is really good. The tuna melts in your mouth. They use good quality fish. Now I don’t have to drive up to convoy for good Japanese food.

The food was delicious. I ordered the Abre La Boca Mucho roll and watched it be made from scratch right in front of me as I sat at the bar - definitely recommend even if youre not a huge sushi person, it just has great flavor. The spicy pho is packed with flavor as well. The staff was extremely friendly and respectful. Had a wonderful first time and will be back!

I ordered take out, the food was fine, nothing special, but I didn’t feel welcome, there was no where for me to sit and despite having multiple open tables and seats at the sushi bar they would not allow me to sit down unless I purchased a drink while I waited. They also had strange rules posted that I didn’t feel reflected good customer service. I would not go back, there are many other places locally with friendlier service. I ended up sitting in my car while I waited for my order.

I ordered take out on 11.8.2022 at 9:57pm. I ordered the Chula Vista Pho and Cali Sushi Roll. They said it was going to be 15 mins for my order to be ready. I did not get my food until 10:35pm. 5 mins later I got home and I opened the bag of food. They put the pho noodles separate, the broth liquid separate and the bowl with condiments separate. When I put them together in the bowl, the pho was still raw after letting sit for a few minutes. I was not able to eat my pho noodles. All I was able to eat was the broth and 2 very small pieces of chicken. For $16 dlls that the bowl cost this is not acceptable. I could not go back to the restaurant since they close at 11pm. I would suggest you don’t order any hot food to go. See attached picture of the noodles that I did not eat because they were cold and hard

Ive been to many sushi bars and this one is def a place I would come back to. Monday night place was packed, waiting line going out the door. Waiter about 10 mins then was seated in back of restaurant. A server greeted us right away.The sake is good, they didnt have the one I originally wanted, so i settled for a dif. One, that i really didnt want. But it was good. We ordered 3 sushi rolls n one of them i did not like it was the algo roll, did not like the taste of it. The other 2 were good. Menu is pretty impressive, alot of options! So if your in the area stop by, its worth it.

Horrible service, horrible staff, disgusting chefs, i asked for baked sushi they bring me raw one, the waitress is unfamiliar with the menu and she is very laggy, she didn’t bring our order at once she kept forgetting most of what we ordered, no KIDS menu, on top of that my wife got SICK once we got home !!!!!!! All our food was delicious, the staff was very friendly. Even though we had lots of questions, all were answered, and i never felt rushed. I liked how 2 workers came up to us and informed us of the status of our food. There was one moment we noticed a few tables opened at the same time, and I have to point out how organized and how fast they worked to clean up everything. We will definitely be going back.

No reason to return. Prices are on par with most sushi places but the portion is smaller. Not sure how that’s possible in a roll but it was. 45 minute wait for takeout turned into 1hr25. I get it, it’s not chik-fil-a but people after me got theirs before. Flavor didn’t stand out at all. The picture is rolls compared to a soy packet. Tiny and not enough rice.

The sushi is very fresh. The Chula Vista ramen with blended cilantro is bomb, it tastes like a Mexican ramen lol, its a must try. The flavor of the ramen was unbalanced - all I tasted was peanuts. The ramen was good. We did have an issue with our chicken katsu appetizer that we ordered though. It took the whole eating session for us to receive it and it was very overcooked. Amazing food! Ive been here well over 10 times! The staff is so friendly and welcoming. The service is great and the food is the best!!! Freshest sushi I have had in San Diego. There is usually a wait on the weekends but it is always worth the wait! I highly recommend the Phomen and the Naruto roll!!! The soy sauce ramen is amazing as well! This sushi place was alright. It is pretty modern compared to the kenpai down the street. Happy hour is from 5-7 and after 9. The drinks are super cheap and pretty reasonable. If you have a giant party, make a reservation. Especially on weekends.

My fave! Narutos is hip and Chula Vistas hidden gem, for sure. The Chula Vista Ramen bowl is fire. The broth is yummy, meat is always juicy and fresh and flavorful, the noodles have a great consistency and texture. If you like appetizers dont forget to order the California roll and garlic edamame to compliment your meal. My kids love to dip their sushi in the ramen (dont knock it till you try it), and they always eat my garlic edamames. Theyre picky as hell, so that speaks volumes for me.Dont get me started on the staff and chef... I always get 5 star service with or without my kids. Theyve got it down in the restaurant game. By the way, I come here about every month or two. The food and service is consistent. So no need to worry about dealing with bipolar energy... like you did with your ex. Lol

I was told the chula viista ramen was the best in the west, couldn’t wait to try it out, and what a dissapointment!! I felt like a was eating a Marucha cup soup with pieces of chicken in it and cilantro i also order the japanese fried chicken thinking it was real chicken and iwas wrong, it was chicken nuggets! Plain and simple, the teriyaki chicken bowl was no different than the chicken in the chula vista ramen, the shrimp tempura was kind ok, not my favorite Japanese Place. I love this place so much, we live down the street walking distance. The food was great the guys working were very nice and welcoming. We could tell they were new so our food took a little long to get, I was understanding of that. What I did not appreciate was the owner just looking over his workers and telling them whats wrong. He couldve stepped in and helped, model the work for them. I had ordered the crunchy roll and it took an hour to get, our original server had taken it to a different table so I had to wait longer. At the end, another server, (he seemed like he was training our server) took care of the bill he said he would take the crunchy roll out, I didnt ask him to but it was a nice gesture. When the bill came it had the crunchy roll and when I asked him, I thought you said youd take it off the owner came up to us and said they dont normally do that because its a restaurant and situations happen. I then responded, The server said he would take it off, I waited a long time and it got taken to a different table. He then started talking a different language with the server who got my bill and I could only think he was badmouthing me. I explained to the young server, We love your food its amazing, it seems there are new people so I understand the turn around time is not ideal. He said thank you and also seemed nervous afterward, dont know if he got in trouble for taking the item off of our bill. I still left them a good tip. My intention is not to badmouth the guys working. I appreciated all of them and again the food was well worth it. We would come back again, hopefully then the service will be more efficient. But the owner...he was not nice, did not seem nice to his workers and not understanding. Maybe other people take advantage, we were not trying to take advantage. Kudos to the team serving, making the food, taking phone orders. No hard feelings, you guys are awesome!

I MEAN WEIRD.They wont seat people if the kitchen is back ordered but that doesnt make sense- why would the kitchen be back ordered if the seats arent filled?!?Whatever, service was horrible. Food took forever. Firstly I came an hour before closing. Granted, there were several people that came in a little later, I still kinda felt like I was being that guy. No problem, I was greeted immediately and had a table; service was on point. Drinks were cold and tasty. The hot sake was a good as well and helped wash the rolls of yellowtail and salmon down. The rolls were good! Some better than others. I would recommend the protein roll and the spicy yellowtail roll. All-in-all a good experience, especially for a late night meal (they close at 11) I definitely would come back!

The issue was that when I got there, there was a man chewing out an install technician about something. I think this might have been the owner or manager? Ordered sushi for my birthday. This is the worst thing Ive ever eaten. They all fall apart. Dipping in soy sauce and not breaking is impossible. I am very sorry that I chose this place. Wasted birthday. would not recommend to anyone.

Ive had sushi all around San Diego and honestly this place is hands down the best around. I had the Abre la Boca sushi roll and dang, i havent had anything like it, so good. Besides it being so delicious, they have the greatest customer service, specifically the owner! Oh gosh, the most grateful, respectful man. Your business here is surely appreciated He takes the time to create a bond with you while youre here. We sat way in the back and best believe he made sure we were never forgotten here lol. He has a great sense of humor. I love the atmosphere as well. I can go on and on. But overall a great place, dont hesitate coming here. Absolutely WORST ramen place. First, using Chinese egg noodles is UNACCEPTABLE. Moreover, 20% of all noodles are uncooked. I feel so sad for all customers if you guys have no idea what is the difference between real ramen noodles and fake ramen Chinese egg noodles. Next, I opened the soup container right away I smell an instant noodles soup powder. I wont say its an instant cup noodles powder or not but what I can say is the soup is weirdly done. Its fake ramen. Dont let them charge you for nearly or over 40 dollars for this fake ramen. The 2 bucks instant ramen in the supermarket still taste better than this.

Great sushi in Chula Vista! The panko fried avocado was amazing! Superb, absolutely delicious. The sashimi was very nice too, fresh and good seasoning, it was the fusion sashimi. The sushi rolls were also very good. Will definitely come again! Thank you for the great service.

This place is awesome!Right off the back, one potential knock on this place is its hours of operations. This can be seen as a bit constraining, but arguably it works in favor of the restaurant. 5pm, when their doors open, theres a line, and theres a reason for it.Probably the main kicker for this place is the price per menu value. Is the ramen and pho better than say... Underbelly, or any other local Japanese food in the area? Maybe. Is it better for the price the other places are trying to sling? That vote swings back in favor to Izayaka Naruto, and that what wins me over, and that wins that 5th star.Also a worth while mention, their happy hour is worth reckoning with. Half off specific beers, and half off house sake? Thats 6 shots of sake for under $3! I have yet to find a place that beats that! Cheers!

Ramen is always given cold. They have a sign that says they only except debit or credit and NO CASH is accepted which is super illegal. Any business needs to accept any type of legal tender. Its not fair for people that would like to pay cash.

One of my favorite sushi places in Chula vista. Their entire menu is delicious, portions are very satisfying. You can taste the quality of the fish with every bite. If youre looking for cooked rolls i would recommend abre la boca mucho roll & go- go Godzilla. If youre into raw rolls, the imperial rainbow roll is my favorite. They also have ramen & pho-men which are very good. Staff is amazing youd probably be welcomed by the very kind owner. Lines are long as the place gets packed but its worth it. DONT try to call for a pick up order theyve been so busy lately theyd rarely pick up.

Ive been to many ramen spots, & I have to say, this place has been the best so far. Sushi is off the hook! My favorite is the fried avocado & the salt ramen with char Su pork...The things I would say negative about this place would be the pricing and how small the establishment is. Its a tad expensive, but oh so worth it. I havent been disappointed with the food...Friendly and attentive staff. My #1 spot for ramen.

The wait to be seated is worth it!! The food is delicious and the people running the place are very nice. I asked about a million questions, which I know it can be annoying, and they didnt make me feel at all uncomfortable for doing so. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

There is nothing bad to say about this place. It is busy from open to close, but worth any wait. Delicious sashimi, and specialty sushi rolls. I love the orange lemon roll, the panko fried avocado, and everything I have eaten here. Naruto, and his staff are so kind as well.

If youre looking for a good place to eat Japanese food, look no further. The food is great, a bit pricy, but tasty. The only downside is that they take their time in making your dishes. Funny anecdote: I ended eating the jalapeño poppers (which looked just like a normal sushi roll) from my friend thinking it was my order (abre la boca mucho roll). 30 minutes after ordering, when almost leaving, one of the waitresses comes with a sushi roll. With a confused face I ask why are we getting another roll (thinking my friends Jalapeño poppers got lost in between orders). After figuring out, alongside the waitress, I find out I ate my friends appetizer thinking it was my dish. Funny and great experience. Going back to the review, customer service is superb and my original roll was great; highly recommend.

Place place is a little different from other ramen restaurants. They use chicken instead of pork. I guess you can say its somewhat healthier. I usually get their ramen instead of their sushi. I either get the salt ramen or the new mint ramen. The broth is flavorful and tasty. I think they use white meat in their ramen. Their sushi is meh. Ive had better sushi elsewhere.It can get really busy at peak hours. Its a good place to check if youre looking to try a new ramen place.

Incredible food, great atmosphere!Yellowtail sushi was amazing, the california roll was the best I have ever had. Next came the lemon garlic edamame... delicious!Wife tried the Ramune soda, really cool and tasty. I stuck with the big-bottle Sapporo (good price).The Chula Vista ramen was fantastic. It has a good amount of spice, but there is so much flavor going on it is well complemented.I will definitely be back!

Prices are very high for what they serve you. Purchased a chicken teriyaki bowl and only got less then half a bowl of rice and what seemed to be maybe less than ounce of boiled shredded chicken breast with a drizzle of teriyaki sauce. The service was good but be wary of might buy.
