Omakase is how I started my order.Told them I liked white fish and got the white lightning!Absolutely amazing!I wasn’t expecting the smoked soy, just did a light touch at it was amazing will be back

The food was really good.I highly recommend getting the truffle salmon, it’s so good!It took 15 min to get seated.Service was okay we never got refills & the food did take a long time to make.

Went last night for the first time. Small, cozy place with comfortable seating. Friendly, efficient staff. Delicious food! We weren’t very hungry so we just had edamame and veggie roll. SO good! And the hot sake was great too. Will be back to try more. Highly recommend.

Great restaurant and location. Parking may be a little difficult on the weekends. Service was awesome and quick. Had a chance to try a few rolls. You cant go wrong with any. The spicy rolls were not that spicy, so if you get a chance, try them. The sake flight was great as well.

Great lo action and friendly staff. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, but preferred to dine inside and admired the decor. Large variety of specialty rolls and reasonable prices.

Best 7 Day Happy Hour in the South Bay. I believe its 3 to 6PM daily! We ordered every item from the happy hour menu and loved it. Sushi was delicious. Great service great food.

We usually love japonica and eat at the restaurant, great service large rolls…however definitely DO NOT recommend takeout. Same price for literally rolls half the size and the specialty roll looks like it was just carelessly thrown together. We usually love the citrus Sakura roll, but this is kinda sad knowing how awesome it normally looks. Then we asked for ginger and it came in the tiny little packets with barely anything in them instead of what they give to people dining in. I just can’t believe they would still charge the same prices for the takeout when it looks like something I could get from a cheap sushi joint.

Amazing service, fun atmosphere. These guys make some of the most creative and delicious rolls Ive had. Just from the last visit, the White Lightning is best seller for a reason, it has an unbelievable flavor; and the Bluefin Samurai is very playful on the palette (if not a bit bitter from the tiny charcoal bits).They also have fantastic ramen and saki bomb here.

The sushi here is so damn good and fresh. Love the creativity on the sushi rolls and sashimi. I highly recommend Japonica. We sat outside to enjoy people watching. The service was great and kept checking on us. Japonica is right near the Hermosa Beach pier. So after dinner, we took a walk to the pier.

Really didnt expect much from this place because I assume its americanized Japanese food. But wow I was wrong! The Spicy Tantan Noodle was really good! It actually is spicy with a nice kick, balanced out the peanuty broth perfectly.I also got the Brussel Sprouts but unfortunately it had a little too much vinaigrette for me.

This place was ok. Its very small inside, so everything feels kinda crammed. They seemed to have a decent happy hour. The sushi was ok, nothing special. Service was very slow. Probably wont be back.

I typically do not change my review for the worse but I’m making an exception in this case. We came here for dinner. My wife ordered the vegetarian Ramen. When the dish came there was almost no broth. When we asked the manager if he could add a little more broth he says there was no mistake on their end and if we wanted more broth we would have to pay for it (!!). Seriously? He actually said this! We have been to this location many times and my wife had this dish before and there was always a good amount of broth. Check out the pic below; you can barely see any broth. How hard would it be to top it off? As much I hate to say it, we will not be back 😢

Great sushi, exactly what you would want from the Main Street in Hermosa. Very fast and friendly service. Order any of the tuna rolls, not because the salmon is bad, but because tuna is a far superior fish for sushi. The gyoza was 🤌.

The service was oddly sooo slow for only 2 raw sushi plates. The ramen came out much faster. I don’t know what they think they’re doing with that cucumber garlic ponzu on the bumblebee tuna roll but it just tasted like it was completely soaked in salad vinaigrette dressing so don’t order😖 I should’ve returned it to the kitchen.

Extremely disappointed! Ordered takeout for a chill Friday night dinner. Food was ready on time and place was packed so I was super excited. Got home and sushi roll was 60% of the size of the box. Ramen broth was barely lukewarm and was only 1/3 of the container. Broth of their ramen says “miso sesame chicken broth” however, it tastes like peanut sauce broth. Sadly had to resort to eating Cheerios for dinner instead.

I went for first time on Sunday and our server Brandon sealed in our continued patronage!The food ordered was great being the spicy tuna, and Ramen combo. I ordered their house Ramen with cilantro. Pretty tasty. Theyre salad was fresh fully leafy greens with a light dressing that is delish. The tempura is nice as well.Went again a day later for an online pickup order, ordering the vegetable Ramen with sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts and it was tasty as well. Our server was awesome but I didnt get her name. Any one whos particular about their food knows brussel sprouts have to be cooked with precision to balance out that natural bitter taste, and they did that well.Well definitely be back.

Ordered carryout 11/20, contracted food poisoning 11/21 which required a doctors office visit that confirmed illness with prescription meds. Have receipts for everything. After three phone calls and an email today to the store Ive gotten ZERO responses from anyone, much less the GM that I was promised a phone call from today. All I can say is protect your health and AVOID.

Definitely caught them on an understaffed night so it took a while to get my order in and the edamame came after I had finished my other appetizer and roll. Edamame was very overcooked to the point where it felt like eating mashed potatoes and flavorless. White lightning roll was also mediocre bordering on overwhelmingly garlic-creamy with dry fish. Would not recommend that roll. Probably won’t be back since I couldn’t find anything worth the money. Disappointed in the quality of the food. I’m sure service is better though when there’s enough support staff there.

Walked in after going to the beach and found such a great atmosphere with great food. Ordered the chef special Fantasia sushi and the citrus Sakura salmon, some miso soup, and edamame. Everything was out quick and just so amazing. Rolls were refreshing and left happy. Very helpful servers. Definitely coming back
