I’ve been going to this bakery for years. It’s my go to for Taiwanese bread and cookies. I highly recommend the buttermilk puff pastry, pineapple buttermilk bread and Taiwanese egg tarts. The hotdog with scallions, red bean bun and green tea cookies are all delicious. They also make cakes for all occasions. The hazelnut chocolate cake is really good.I tried the pork steam bun, pineapple pastry and matcha croissant previously. Sadly, I’ve had better.All in all, the bakery has something for everyone.

Along with its famous cakes, JJ is known for their Taiwanese stuffed sticky rice roll aka Fan Tuan. Basically, you can get your Taiwanese breakfast craving satisfied here.Opens early in the morning, for all those who need to travel far to work, JJ has quick and ready to go breakfast for you, I normally get a hot soy milk drink, a You Tiao ( fried dough) and a Fan Tuan for my to go breakfast.As we go on a trip, we would stop by here first to stock up on breakfast with the normal Taiwanese breakfast items and some pastries for the road. Yesterday we got ourselves a Fan Tuan with Taiwanese sausage and YouTiao, Shaobing ( Taiwanese pancake with egg), and some pastries including a coconut turnover and a almond danish for a trip to the Central California. They were all delicious and yummy. We had a good time eating them on our trip.Besides Taiwanese breakfast, JJ has decent birthday and wedding cakes. The cakes are nicely decorated and come in varieties of flavors and stuffing. We had ordered a few cakes here for special occasions.

Great location for fresh baked pastry, breads, and all these yummy combinations mix meats and sweet sandwiches, many different choices. Sometimes parking is limited when there are a lot of people. The photo of this sausage pastry is one of my favorite. Light and quick snack.

Got the tiramisu 8 inch cake for $35. It was pretty good, not too sweet and just the perfect amount of coffee taste. However, the cake had a icy texture right after I picked it up from the store. I dont know whether it was because the stores fridge is strong or the cake wasnt fresh. I am hoping it isnt the latter. Despite that, the taste was very good. I dont know if it is worth $35 though.

My friend and me visited JJs in Arcadia for first time. It was okay though nothing spectacular. My friend had a lemon merengue tart and boba tea while I had mango pudding and took home some bread. The store was clean and alright though many items were empty while some had few pieces to select on their shelves. The price is good. The 3 persons behind the counter were kind of rude by staring the entire time. Their customer service skills were lacking. Please remember... The review is based on the location in City of Arcadia.

Taiwanese bakery with seating in the mornings for breakfast. Tasty buns and cakes, 米浆，served throughout the day. Pieces of Cakes are priced around $3.85, with quite a variety of flavors mixed into latte, cappuccino, tiramisu. Looks good and tastes good.

JJ Bakery makes delicious cakes! We got the Strawberry cake and everyone loved it. They use a whipped cream frosting so it’s not too sweet like buttercream which is amazing! Also, the cake had fresh fruit inside!

I really love their pastries! My favorite is seaweed roll! I always get at least 2 when I come by.I was craving for boba, so I just stopped by and get my usual favorite, seaweed roll, and a oolong boba fresh milk tea. The seaweed roll is amazing like usual!I ordered my drink with no ice, and the lady who prepared my drink put ice in it and I approached her by telling her that I do not want ice in my drink. The cashier said that she forgot to put no ice in the order. The lady who prepared my drink looked at me and said you didnt say that you dont want ice. I was shocked and think didnt the cashier tell you that she forgot to put that in the order?! How could you blame me for that?!Speaking about the drink. It was watery that has a lack of the taste of oolong tea. Boba was decent.I will come back for pastry, but not boba drink and service!

The Salty soy milk taste horrible. Are they really made by soy bean or made by soy bean powder? Or something else?????I used to come here pretty often before before the pandemic. Two weeks ago, I went to Temple City location, order two Salty soy milk, they were taste terrible, feel like eating soy milk powder.Today I went to Arcadia location ( my favorite location), order two Salty soy milk ( I was hoping they have original flavor).It has this burnt taste and I felt like I bit into some weird stuff, and I am sure these are not made by soy bean.NO MORE SOY MILK from jj bakery.

There is a dead fruit fly in my drink!!! I used to come here pretty often before the pandemic. Today I went and got a cold soy milk which I don’t usually get. It has this burnt taste and I felt like I bit into some weird stuff but I thought it could be the soy bean so I just spit it out and tried to not think about it. The burnt taste is so gross that I decided to just dump it down the drain and guess what…. A DEAD FRUIT FLY BODY APPEARS!!! The burnt taste usually comes from the burnt beans, which can kind of show that the workers aren’t very attentive. Im so grossed out by current their standard.

I have been buying breakfast items from this JJ Bakery for more than a decade. While the breads are still good, I’ve noticed some inconsistency in the quality for their rice rolls. They used to be flavorful with just the right texture. This time, even though I bought them at 8:30 in the morning, the rice rolls were disappointing- the rice was hard and chewy, and the yao-tiao was soggy.Don’t get me wrong, their breads are still excellent, especially when they are fresh out of the oven. It’s still a good place for authentic Taiwanese style breads.

I might not be the best judge of Chinese pastries as I love Danish ones (from Denmark, not Danishes) -- meaning more butter, cream and rich stuff.However, as far as light, fruit and nice Chinese pastries go, this place is pretty OK.Ive never had anything bad here, but then again, Ive never had anything overly spectacular either.

Good for birthday cakes and pastries. Dont order the onion butter pastry unless youre prepared to brush your teeth, it tastes good and people will know you had it. I would of given it full stars but theres another bakery adjacent in next plaza that sells same items for almost half price.

I tried ordering a birthday cake from here and they first hung up on me when I tried to order in English. I called back to order in Mandarin and they took my order. The woman taking the order was very rushed in taking my order and I wasnt certain that she could remember or write down anything because of the speed of which she was taking the order. Sure enough, when I went to the bakery to get the cake, they claimed no such order existed and treated my brother, who was picking up, very rudely despite the fact that they were at fault! They hastily picked a reserve cake instead and neglected to write anything on the cake, or pack a candle, or a cake knife. It wasnt a good experience. Ill be boycotting this place for the other bakeries like Kee Wah which is just around the corner.

Had a few items to try and not really into this kind of baked goods. I think its a matter of preference really. The only thing I really liked was this 4-piece bun with meat in the middle. The meat is good, but it should have been spread evenly inside the buns to make it easier to share.

I have to say, I have definitely grown to love JJs more and more as I got older. But the parking is horrible.Love getting their fan tuans and soy milk for breakfast, but their breads are also really good, especially the puff pastry bread with pork sung! Im also a big fan of their chiffon cakes and cream puffs. And their puddings. And cakes. Honestly, I think I like everything here. Service is a hit or miss as the workers are always incredibly busy and impatient.

Short summary (open fully for WAY more 😂😂😬😱):- huge selection- five stars if you know what to get but probably four stars otherwise- you need to know what you like (but you could also do trial and error to figure it out!)Suggestions:- Tuna Danish- Curry Puffs- 糍飯糰 (Salty Glutinous Rice Rolls) AND Salty Soy Milk (theirs or from another place)- Black Forest Cake- Chocolate Passionfruit Mousse Cake)Ill give a five-star rating because Ive tried such a wide variety of their goods that I know what I like.Theres A LOT from which to choose, so its easy to be uncertain as you shop around or to end up with some things that you enjoy but dont LOVE. But if you nab a bunch of things and get to taste-test with friends and/or family, Im sure youll find what floats your boat! ✌🏻Personally, I always go for their Tuna Danish (on the shelves) or Curry Puffs (usually towards the very back-right corner of the store in a metal warmer, if I recall correctly) in terms of breads.Otherwise, their 糍飯糰/糍飯/飯糰 (its English name may be something like Salty Glutinous Rice Roll) is usually kept at the front by the cash register, and its also not to be missed if youre into it (which I am). They have a fancier (like a deluxe) version with egg and Taiwanese sausage that may be a bit confusing if youre a Hong Konger like me, but it ends up sometimes really hitting the spot! These 糍飯糰/rolls can run a bit dry or have too much rice (ratio-wise), but these are particularly good when eaten with Salty Soy Milk, which I think they have (though I prefer to make my own because Ive yet to find any place that makes it as well as my mom, my aunt, and now me).As for cakes, I only ever like Black Forest Cake if its from J.J.s. Its not too sweet, and its quite airy and light. I also enjoy their Chocolate Passionfruit Mousse Cake, which is a bit sweeter if thats what you like. I think mousse is a misleading description of the texture, but I enjoy it.

JJ Bakery is a legit and yummy Taiwanese establishment.I was extremely happy to see that they are back in production on one of my favorite pastries - WIFE CAKE. This is a Taiwanese specialty and not many Chinese bakeries make well.Another favorite pastry is this round Chiffon Cake with Phyllo Dough + whip cream in the middle. Extremely tasty and moist.None of their items are too sweet - perfect for the Asian palette. Located conveniently in a plaza with ample parking and surrounding yummy restaurants like Din Tai Fung across the way, JJ Bakery is top notch and a place worth checking out!

Though comparable to 85 degrees, JJs is far superior. The size of the breads was larger than 85 degrees and everything was priced around $1.00-$1.20 for the individual pastries. Bottom line: Skip going 85 if you live within the SGV and come here instead. Just make sure to keep your self-restraint in check so you dont end up buying everything!

I visited so many different Asian bakeries in the San Gabriel area and JJ’s was by far my favorite. I wish I could drop in to eat so many different things (Taiwanese hamburger, pineapple cakes, mochi, fan tuan, etc.) Everything was so delicious!

It felt kind of strange to be in ethnic rainbow that is So Cal and be surrounded by Asian people. The soufflé bread is delicious. It spreads evenly and doesnt taste like there is a lump of soufflé in the middle. The egg tart is also a Taiwanese pastry egg tart. The cake roll is neither too moist nor too sweet. It tastes very Taiwanese! For cooked food, I bought chicken cutlet rice. The chicken cutlet was very garlicky and delicious, and the portion was sufficient. The fried rice was also good. Simply put, if I were in Taiwan, I would go to this restaurant often!

JJ Bakery Arcadia has a wide variety of breads to choose from, and they are not greasy and have a moderate sweetness. I travel over a hundred miles almost every week to buy them. A special chicken drumstick or pork chop bento is enough for me to eat for two meals. I have been patronizing JJs for more than ten years and have always liked JJs bread and the friendly and respectful customer service attitude of the staff.I was originally going to give it five stars. But today, I was really disappointed at the cashier! Although I don’t know who is complaining in a low voice, saying, No one likes him/her. He/she is too rich. I am still standing making bread.I really hope I heard wrong! ! No matter which clerk said it, no matter which customer it was, you cant say this in front of a group of customers, right? ! I wonder which customer comes in and doesn’t have money to buy bread? ! How can a customer be disliked by the clerk even if he has money to buy more bread and pastries? !Moreover, if the service of the clerk is good and the customers are well taken care of, the bakery and other businesses of the company will get more business. When the company makes money, employees’ benefits will also increase!Even if you are just a bakery clerk, you still have a great job! Although the work is hard, you may encounter bad-tempered customers and may be criticized by your boss. However, you can’t say those words in public!Hopefully it was just a misunderstanding or I misheard. This used to be my favorite breakfast place for 10+ years!! The quality has gone down during the past few months. Please, please go back to the way it was..Their salty soy milk has been my top choice for more than ten years. (Personally, I think it tastes better than the ones in Taiwan) I haven’t been there in the past few months. Why has the taste of the food deteriorated? ! The taste of the salty soy milk is different from before, and it doesnt feel as fresh as before; the egg cake skin has become very thick and has a bad taste; the radish cake tastes like chewy bacon and is cut into different thicknesses. Has the boss changed? Please bring back the old taste!
