First time here, and it definitely didnt disappoint! My husband had been raving about this place from the time we met, and I have to say it lived up to the hype. Absolutely delicious roast beef, delicious sourdough roll, and overall huge sandwich! 10/10!

I asked the guy at the sporting goods store where to get a great deli sandwich because I dont get over to Fairfield that often, and Im kinda lost over here. So, after he handed me the Trifelter Stabilizers for the Burlyshoot, he thought for a second and spurted out Joes Buffet...Best sandwiches in town! So, off I went. And you know what...he was absolutely right!5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆

I don’t know where anyone got the idea that people would pay $14 for a sandwich. The food here was great. But I won’t be returning because of the prices. I really liked them and that’s a shame. I’ve went here since I was a kid. If this place wants to raise their prices like the rest of California then Joes Buffet can rot and furlough for all I care. I’m not going to support inflation. If you want to go from $8 to $14 a sandwich. Good riddance.

Joe’s Sandwich Shop - another main street gem! Staff are friendly, the meat for your sandwich is freshly sliced as you wait and you get a nice amount of meat. My husband and I got the Turkey sandwich on a Dutch crunch roll, some delish potatoes that were nicely seasoned, and the Greek salad. The bread, veggies and meat were fresh, the service was wonderful and the deli was clean. I look forward to returning to try some other sandwiches and sides.

This deli does a great job giving a delicious generous sandwich. But my biggest criticism is their rye bread doesn’t hold up it immediately gets soggy and squishy which destroys the filling. You end up holding pastrami not bread. Not good. See in photos how rye becomes paper thin. Otherwise a delicious sandwich.

I went to Joes Buffet in Fairfield, CA today to get something to eat, normally I dont write reviews of this kind, but today is an exception. The roast beef sandwich with the dippin sauce was great, no problems there. Let me say this before I keep telling my experience. I love eating at Joes whenever I can and my entire family and many of friends also eat at Joes. Its always clean, the staff is always professional, pays attention to detail and my needs and kind. But, today whoever made the potato salada need not make it anymore. After eating half of my sandwich, I went for my potato salada and to my surprise this is what I got. Those giant chunks of potatoes were throughout the entire container and to top it off it was tart. At $11.00 for a large salada thats the last thing I want to see or taste. My appetite went out the window. Please fix the potato salada, so I can continue to enjoy eating the potato salada again.

I used to go to Joes when playing table tennis tournaments years ago at Simply Ping Pong in downtown. I consider the beef sandwich the best in bay area. I even drove all the way from south bay to have a sandwich once. Everything is fresh and the portion is generous.

The best place in Solano County to get a homemade deli sandwich made how ever you want it lots of side dishes to add to your sandwhich side. Ive been going here since I was in high school in 1983. This place is amazing! I had the French dip sandwich, Mac and cheese, and a couple pickles. The sandwich had a lot of meat on it and they dropped the bread as well as the meat into the juice (au jus) and it was served with a thicker juice/gravy. The Mac and cheese was rich and tasty. I really like eating here. The lobby is huge with lots of seating.

Excellent experience yet again! Brought a new customer with me, she fell in love also! Great family business, clean, friendly with a wonderful atmosphere. The roast beef sandwich is my personal favorite, as always the sandwiches were thick with meat, fresh ingredients and immediately after leaving we must take a nap! Most satisfying meal! I am not as happy as I use to be. I dealt with only getting my sandwich cold once cuz Id chill it myself, but today was not a good experience. It was much warmer then it should of been and I wanted a cold one. There was no tomatoes or mayo, I got the lettuce but very little and there were pickles and I despise them. Whomever is making the sandwiches now either needs to learn how and do whats asked or just stop making them. Been coming for years, but looks like I wont ever again. Sorry to Joe and his wife.

Excellent sandwiches! A wait if you come at 12pm. Extra big serving sizes and the sides are very tasty. Seating is plentiful and the staff is very efficient and friendly. Bathroom are clean. We will definitely be a regular customer at this establishment!

Just wow. This place is legit. East coast feel. Got the Joes special, French dip and Turkey. Everything exceeded expectations. The sides are all absolutely delicious. The meat is cooked and sliced on site. 75 years this place is an institution and can give any Chicago or New York deli a run for its money. This was by far one of the best sandwiches Ive had! Definitely worth the 5 stars, just bummed they were out of 2 of my favorite breads (Dutch crunch roll and sourdough). The sole purpose of me going was to get a good sandwich on a Dutch crunch roll, but went with the turkey and cheddar on a French roll and it was as good as I pictured it in my head! The dip for the sandwich was better than I expected mainly because Ive never had it before 😄. The amount of meat they give is enough to make the sandwiches on a subway or Togos commercial hide in shame because we all know them sandwiches look nothing like the commercials! I will definitely be back soon.... I want that Dutch crunch roll 😂. I think Ill call first, but Im still going to be returning very soon!😉. Hard to go places on a mobility device...but Joes plenty big enough for my scooter...and staff was eager to help if needed....I ordered the French dip and he sliced the meat when I did...so very fresh...biggest sandwich I ever seen...and the sauce was so good...I will never go anywhere else for my sandwich...no complaints about anything I ordered...all was all very good and tasty...place very friendly and clean...and busy...keep up the good work and thank you for lunch

The best place ever. I grew up in Fairfield and been all over the Great USA. I have drivin 1800 miles with Joes on my mind for my first meal back home. We have a saying in my family. If you dont like Joes something is wrong with you.Update -New owners still seems good, Ive heard rumors that the new owners have cheapened things up and went to a cheap and tough meat. This is by far the best Pastrami Sandwich Ive ever had! The pastrami is tasty and high quality. Does not have all the fat you typically find in a sandwich like this. The staff is very friendly, and will give you a taste of things to help you decide. I love the potato chunks as a side; the seasoning on them is delicious. The value of the meal deal cant be beat, and you wont leave hungry. The eating area could use some TLC, but I look past that because the food is soooo good.

Ive been coming here for years and have yet to have a bad experience. Just pick your sandwich add a side and your mouth will water before you pay. The pastrami is excellent!! Their roast beef is legendary!! Combine them together and you have the Joes special. You win all three ways. My only regret is that after having this you wont want it any other way.

I do not live in Fairfield/Vacaville, just visited. I had been here for 2 weeks and hadn’t found a local place that was memorable or set itself apart. I was walking downtown and came upon this place. This what you look for a in local no frills restaurant. Friendly people that seem to truly enjoy serving the local community. I will return to this place any time I get a chance. The Roast Beef French dip was delicious. Generous portions and very affordable. If ever in the area, I’ll be back!

No atmosphere to speak of. The amount of meat on the sandwiches was good and the staff were friendly and helpful but the food all seemed a little bland. The au jus for my dipped corned beef was thicker, like thin gravy, and less flavorful than I expected. The macaroni salad was al dente (a good thing) but again underflavored. Also a bit pricey for what youre getting.

One of Fairfields best (somewhat hidden) gems! Ive been going here all of my life and it has always been a favorite. The BEST roast beef sandwiches youll have. Also, super random, but they have the best fountain Dr. Pepper Ive ever had. I dont know if its the mix of syrup and soda or the combination of Dr. Pepper with roast beef sandwiches but its the only place I drink soda at all. The nicest people you could ask for, always so happy to greet you and say goodbye.I looked into why people have rated 1 and 2 stars and people point out the ambiance and cleanliness of the restaurant. To that, you are there for the best roast beef sandwiches, not a fine dining experience. Thats part of its character and the history of downtown Fairfield. This is place is the best and I hope it doesnt change at all.

Its a sandwich buffet where you can have basically any type of meat between any type of bread that you could possibly imagine and all kinds of toppings. Dropped in with a friend after getting a haircut. We both got the FrenchDip (Roast Beef) sandwich with dip, along with Potatoes and Gravy. We ate at the business rather than doing the takeout thing.Joes provides more than Sandwiches, they serve comfort style food. Portions are generous, the staff is pleasant and courteous. The atmosphere is warm, various sizes/combinations of tables and chairs to accommodate their patrons. Your not coming here for the ambience ... Been going here since i was 15 and im 33 now. They usually know all their customers by name and are so humbly nice and courteous. You can tell they truly enjoy their job and what they do and genuinely care about their customers. The food is spectacular and you get good hearty portions for your buck. They even have student specials for the nearby kids who attend school that come to eat. You feel right at home here and they keep it clean. I love everyone who works here and they are always happy to see me and ask how im doing everytime. I give them 10 stars. And always get your gravy cup to dip your sandwich in. Even get your meat dipped while they are making the sandwich. Absolutely amazing. I recently became vegetarian but the sandwiches and gravy is so good i will just eat the sandwich with mayo lettuce and onions and mustard and dip it in the gravy. Happy to say i can still enjoy most of their side dishes. Some i will just take the meat out cuz their macaroni salad and their pasta is sooo good. I’ve been going to Joe’s off and on since I was in high school at Armijo in 1966. Great French dips every time! The last time I was there was 3 weeks ago and will not return. The man doing the preparation and woman right next to him and another woman behind the serving area- no masks, one no gloves. Yes, they did have the plexiglass shields and distancing by customers in line but no sandwich is worth getting Covid 19. I’ll miss the great food and service. Bye

Their sandwiches are incredible and I personally love their potato salad. Every time I visit Fairfield, I have to go and get it!The food is affordable and worth the price as well. The interior may seem a little dingy and not super posh, but its the food you go for and nothing else seems to matter after youve eaten that delicious sandwich.Another specific thing that I love is that they still have the glass bottle Snapples. Its not a big deal, but its fun to have that throwback since no one else seems to have them anymore.Just a fantastic place to eat.
