Great local spot! You can tell a lot of the diners are regulars and/or friends of the owners. Everyone is very nice and attentive, and the sushi is fabulous. We got the dynamite, cooked scallop, caterpillar, and the veggie tempura. Paired with a delightful unfiltered sake. Highly recommend! Just note that the space is pretty small so not great for a huge group.

We just moved to the area and this was our first Japanese restaurant after moving over here. We really love Japanese food so we were really happy to find this place.The sashimi / tempura bento box was a really large serving, plenty for leftovers. I also ordered myself a saba shio dinner plate, which came with two large fillets. Both were tasty. I was really happy they it came with seaweed salads (usually I’ll order those as an appetizer).They also gave use a couple of these small dishes that were like croquettes with shrimp. Those were very tasty, and glad they offered a little sample on the house.I’ll definitely come back here again and bring friends when they’re over.

Just had a wonderful dinner, first time here.Loved the baked scallop sushi roll, ikura, unagi, bento box with salmon and tempura, shrimp combo veggie tempura and also enjoyed the gyoza and shrimp appetizer on the house!!! Great experience, friendly server and chill restaurant!!

Ordered takeout on New Years Eve and was not disappointed. The food did take almost 2 hours to be ready but that was to be expected with the holiday. They did call us that the food was ready earlier and were thoughtful to ask if we needed chopsticks and soy sauce. The sushi was delicious! We got the lion king roll, green river, and crazy monkey roll - would order all those rolls again! We got so excited to eat the sushi, we forgot to take a picture before we started eating. Overall, great customer service, great food and would recommend coming here for sushi!

Authentic Japanese food,ive tried so many sashimi place in east bay and the city and this is my far the most fresh (closest to what i had in japan) TORO sashimi & they always have it, most japanese restaurants dont have it when i ask for it.the food is not too salty or overly seasoned.the ingredients they use is always fresh and high quality.service is quick & price is reasonable.it seems like its family owned because the chef check on the customers. its conveniently located close to my house and the ambiance is perfect for a sumptuous meal (quiet) & clean.i highly recommend jos honda sushi

Theyve been in biz for a long time in a forgotten corner near JFK U but have a great reputation in my opinion due to their independence, consistency and quality. Chef always on deck is critical, and good apprenticeship is what is all about to sustaining a good restaurant. Its how real restaurant in Japan does it and you can see it here. If youre tired of sushi made by who knows who they are come by Honda to taste the real stuff. You wont be disappointed!

Whenever I try a sushi restaurant, I get the chefs choice sashimi or nigiri so I can get a general feel for it. The assorted selection of sashimi (Jos choice) was incredible. During the space of an hour while I was there, 3 or 4 different parties of people came in to eat and say hi to Jo behind the bar. I could quickly tell that this place is special to a lot of people. The entire staff was great. I will definitely be back.

So gross. Burnt roll. Supposed to be torched but they charred it. That big black thing in photo is blackened avocado. Left out ingredients. Had same thing about two weeks ago and it was amazing. Could barely eat it. At first I was disappointed that it was very small, but in the end it didnt matter.

Good was good, but for people ran us over $450! Ive been eating sushi my whole life. I used to frequent Tanuki bar on California, R.I.P.(New owners. Havent tried.), which was owned by Ai-San who was Japanese and by far my favorite sushi chef of all time. Granted that I started eating in the 80s as a kid through the early 2010s+, I neve paid that much,even with 6 people and a lot of drinks. Inflation maybe? Idk. If give it another try though.

We went here for our 25th anniversary, and the experience was perfect for such a special event. Everything was delicious! We had the Monkey Roll, a hand-roll with crunchy salmon skin, raw oysters with a special sauce, and eel. The food was garnished with fish roe and lightly bordered by a special house sauce. When we got the check, they gave us each a honeydew melon popsicle. It is a mom-and-pop joint in the best sense of the word. The wife waited tables and her husband is the sushi chef, and they gave the place a welcoming, friendly vibe. We would go back in a second.

Id put it up against any sushi spot in walnut creek even.It is pricy, I almost gave them 4 stars because it is so expensive but I didnt want to hurt their otherwise stellar rating.The price is somewhat justified as you wont find higher quality sushi in the area, it truly is the best of the best around these parts.The staff is friendly and the last times I went it was busy and the service wasnt so great if Im being honest.So why five stars? Because the sushi is incredible. If you want to find the best sushi in town this is your spot full stop. Youll end up paying for the quality but it is worth it!

This place is absolutely horrible. They purposely serve MASSIVE almost hysterical portions causing most customers to need a Togo box- just so they can gouge you on the bill(dont order anything here that says market price).They rip people off like this so much that they actually have a SIGN at the table that tells you they charge for the Togo box too 🤦‍♂️, imagine needing a to go box at a sushi restaurant.The kani was dry. The yellowtail belly was inedible. And the $35!! Hawaiin poke was disgusting. Never had any poki that tasted like that. We barely ate our food, paid for our Togo box and quickly left.We ordered 4 nigiri, edamame, two miso soups and one roll and were charged $250.Literally can go to any other place and have a better experience and better food for half the price.Do yourself a favor and go to Joes sushi or Kobe Japan. This place is a rip off 💯We will not be going back 👎The place was absolutely dead 💀

I rarely give 5 stars but I just had some of the most delicious sushi ever, and Im an old lady whose had a lot of mediocre sushi. Maguro was huge and rice was tiny. The rainbow roll was a work of art. And 3 gift gyoza!

It was not very crowded on a thursday night. There is parking in front of the restaurant. Service is fast and friendly. There are high chairs for the kids if requested. The food was mediocre. The rolls were too big with a lot of rice. Gyoza and seafood salad were the only items we liked..

Sushi is bomb! This is a small spot which makes it very intimate. The food is always fresh. Its a great experience if youre with a big group of friends or date night, the chef will come around to say hello and make your experience even more personal. Highly recommend!

Just got home from dinner at Jos Honda Sushi, and although we did not order the sushi (this time), I had to take the time to share... From sashimi to tempura and from take out to dine-in... everything has been delicious and presented quickly. The family continues to make every visit special, setting up an upbeat mood with fun background music and cheerful greetings for all. Definitely visit! Our favorites: shrimp pops, tempura dinner, teriyaki dinner (beef or chicken), yakitori, udon, sashimi, or sushi... okay. Its all yummy!! Lol.

I had the joy of working in the area but Pleasant Hill. Found out about this place by trying to go to the Outback next door. Lets just say I saw Honda Sushi and never went to the Outback. I ate at this restaurant at least 3 days a week for over 7 months. Everything Honda does is superior to every other Sushi restaurant I have been to in my life. Love the place, people and food. I tried the hibachi & unagi style sashimi, so-o good. Great sake selection! Enjoyed a green tea ice- cream that was covered with tempura, set on a raspberry sauce. Yummy, in my tummy! Just dont eat the baked mussels. They werent New Zealand mussels, & werent baked in a cream sauce that Im use to. But, the service was excellent, fish fresh, didnt feel like I had a lot of salt, & atmosphere was very relaxing. Make sure you get there at 5 pm., the restaurant gets filled up very quickly. That just shows how awesome this place is.

The family that owns his business is so sweet. The food is AMAZING. They have great portions, great prices. I came here to eat with my bf late tonight and wow they were so friendly to us. We were the last table eating. the owner even gave us free shots and vegetable gyoza on the house. Like wow was not expecting so much kindness its rare to go to a restaurant and recieve this kind of treatment. I dont live in the area but Ill make sure to come back again whenever I am. I love supporting small businesses like this. Thank you for being so kind to us. We cant wait to come back with our family.

Food is great. The raw fish is always fresh and tasty. Jos fish cut for nigiri sushi is unusual. It is about 2X longer than the traditional. Needless to say you get your moneys worth of fish. He also always has Toro, which many other sushi restaurants dont carry. The atmosphere is family friendly and the staff is wonderful.

Went there tonight with 2 family members. One of my family members politely explained he made a mistake when he ordered and actually meant to order something else.Waitress was extremely rude, yelled at our table, and exclaimed the issue with the order was, your mistake! and slammed the plate of food back on the table before storming off. When I politely asked if I could speak to the manager, she pointed to the manager, but yelled over me as I was trying to explain the issue. I had to tell her to not talk over me. I have never been so disrespected by a place of business. I am not usually one to complain about food or service, but this was downright awful. The food was also over-priced for the quality. A different waitress helped us the rest of the time and apologized on the others behalf. She offered us ice cream, which we all declined. Right before the bill came, the original waitress gave us a complimentary ice cream sandwhich and apologized. Overall, it was terrible, even despite the apology. Its just not OK to treat paying customers so terribly, expecially when you recognize one as being a fairly regular customer. The total bill was $73. Needless to say, we didnt leave a tip and none of us will ever return to this place. If I could rate this place zero stars I would.

Awesome little place!! We arrived there just minutes before closing, however we were greeted with friendly smiles and very upbeat waitresses and chef. Great menu Selection and certainly reasonable prices. Sushi was unbelievably good! We came here from Chicago and Honda Sushi puts every place weve been to to shame. We ordered Dragon, Lion King and Phili all for $37 with tax. Not to mention that we received complimentary appitizers and Sake shots without even asking for it. Highly recommend it to anybody and only wish there was one back home.

The sushi was great and the staff was friendly but they have an awful birthday song and dance that kind of ruined it for us. Of course as with any restaurant that sings to you on your birthday, as soon as they do it once, suddenly its everyones birthday. After the third time the birthday song played, i decided that despite the decent food, Ill not be returning. Its too loud and not the relaxing experience i look for while dining.

Its shocking not more people talk about the price, because it is really expensive, like yellow tail in vegas kinda expensive and for what? the Edamame and shrimp dumplings were overcooked so badly they were pasty in texture.... The sushi was ok but definitely not worth the 2+ extra dollars a roll they charge (compared to Kiawa, our fave).. Maybe I was there on an off night but unfortunately I will never know....

Jos Suchi is a very authentic sushi, when you are comparing it to Japanese sushi. They dont tend to have the sauces, that you will otherwise have on top of the sushi. Its fresh fish, good quality, and an authentic experience. If you love sushi this is definitely a place to try.The biggest problem here is just the cost. 2 tuna (maguro) Nigiri cost 7 dollars, which seems to be off price wise for this area.
