Journey To The Dumpling in Elk Grove

Came here at opening on a Sunday, people were already waiting outside! By the time I ordered, nearly all the tables were full. I got the XLB and they were great. Thick, chewy wraps and the pork was cooked perfect (not overdone). I also had the tan tan noodle, solid but nothing too special.

This is by far the best Chinese dumplings place in Sacramento county that Ive eaten at period and about as good as any premium dumplings in San Francisco Chinatown. Food and service is first class and get busy fast on Sunday lunch time and so get there early, otherwise you be waiting outside in line.

Fantastic food, quick service, loud crowd! I recommend getting on the online waitlist before you get there. The beef rolls, soup dumplings, and spicy Singapore noodles were delicious! The noodles were good with the house chili oil on them. Id love to come back here and order the exact same thing all over again, itll be hard to try a new dish because I liked everything so much. Will be back!

11/2023 very busy on Saturday lunch, waited 45 minutes. Tried the fried chicken with soy sauce. It was very good, recommended. And the porridge was tasty after adding all the side stuffs mix with it.8/2023 Tried porkchop noodle soup, the porkchop was breaded and deep-fried, very crispy and still juicy inside, quite fatty. My family loves it. Shrimp dumplings are good too. Recommended.todays xiao long bao were delicious. Good service. Recommended. The restaurant was quite busy during Tuesday dinner.6/2023 Decent food and service. The xiao long bao filling and broth are delicious, the skin was tough on top. The pan-fried noodles were good, but the beef cubes were chewy. I would recommend trying a different type of meat or seafood.

Journey to the Dumpling has been my first and “to-go-to” spot when it comes to dumplings and dim sum. From Reno, yes it is worth traveling to Sacramento to eat here. It is so delicious and if you have not experienced dim sum, Journey to the Dumpling is the place to go to!! Nothing like a spectacular restaurant locally owned.On the few occasions I’ve been here, the food and service is always consistent. The staff with their excellent customer service and always coming by to check on you to make sure your table is good. The place as well has its own vibe to it which is comforting, I like that!My favorite dish to order always is the Wontons in Chili Oil! So delicious and I can eat that all day! The Soup Dumplings are just perfect with the right amount of broth that comes in it. Can not forget about their Sui Mai, the classic dish of them all. Everything is just and always beyond delicious that will get your taste buds and cravings satisfied when it comes to Dim Sum. Can not wait to come back as always. Xiao long baos were great and worth a try, good reflection of what you’d get in Asia. Honey walnut shrimp was tasty as well.Their HK milk tea was authentic too.I’d give their noodles soup (journey noodle soup) a miss as it wasn’t spicy enough and the broth was a tad weird mix of spices.

This place is always packed, and food is good and fresh. My mom wanted to go eat here again. She loves the food. We always order wat more than we can eat because its so good. Today, we ordered a few things we had never had, and it was ok. We will probably not order that again. It fell short of flavor for us.

I use Uber eats to deliver to my hotel room since I was too lazy to drive the 5 minutes over. I did ask for utensils, and did not receive any! Super frustrating when I had all this delicious food sitting in front of me.I ordered Xiao long bao, wonton in chili sauce, Peking spare ribs, and journey noodle soup. All were delicious but I wasnt a huge fan of the soup dish. The pork belly chunks were very dry and rough, as it appears to be boiled in the soup for flavor. I was expecting nice soft pieces of pork belly but thats not the case. Flavor of the soup and chewiness of the noodles were good, despite being on the saltier side. I dont think Id order that again though.The dumplings and the pork were delicious! Id come back for that. Just an FYI, the peking pork does not come with any rice.

So so good! There was a 30 minute wait on a Wednesday night, so highly recommend adding yourself to the waitlist ahead of time. Food was definitely worth it, the garlic noodles are the best we’ve ever had. The food came out really quick even though the restaurant was packed, and everyone was nice and attentive.
