Great country diner feel. Food was spot on.
Definitely down home comfort food! Large portions, and it has the feel of a local diner. The atmosphere is kind of loud, but you can finish your meal and go for a beautiful walk along the Suisun Marina.
Dinning outside these days always has challenges, things you cannot foretell. . . . wind. It was beautiful when I got there about 10:30 about as I was getting ready to leave it started to get a bit breezy. As for the food is a tradition. I had the French toast combo but with 2 eggs (who orders just 1?) Anyway everything was cooked perfect; the bacon was just the right amount of crunch right before being over cooked and very tasty the eggs were perfect and the French toast ah well I guess thats how its cooked there, looked perfect but seemed a little undercooked on the inside and personally if they have them with cinnamon Id go for that as its a bit bland - Ive never said that about French toast but it was. Coffee was good. The place is busy so plan accordingly 😌 they could dedicate 1 person for drink replenish duty as I ran out of coffee 1/2 through my meal.

I came here a couple years ago and got the french toast. Here lately, I couldnt stop thinking about it every time I would eat french toast at home. I came back it it was just as good, if not better. They are so friendly and kind. They are really great at taking care of you as a waiter/ress. Cant wait to come again.
Worthy! Friendly service with excellent food. These people know eggs. My wife loves their poached eggs, but you wont go wrong with an omelet or the French toast, for that matter. And the hash browns are great too! All for a good price. You WILL leave happy. And if its a nice day you can walk off your satisfyingly full belly with a nice stroll along the very pretty Suisun waterfront.

My husband and I are visiting family and they took us to breakfast this morning. The food was absolutely great. I was so full and could not finish my food. The service was excellent and the cost was very reasonable. I definitely recommend this restaurant. I will be back when we come back in town.
Been eating at this place forever. They know the regulars, and know what they order.My ONLY complaint is that the AC needs to be turned cooler (fans need to be higher for air circulation), because it gets very muggy & warm.
Everyone needs some Joy in their lives. Go here and see Agnus for excellent service. The chicken fried steak is my favorite so far (supported by potatoes and two eggs any style). You cant escape this place without having some toasted and buttered homemade bread (I dont even know if you have a choice). The coffee even tastes better here. The Joy omlet is also delicious. I also cant NOT get pancakes... So fluffy and flavorful here with a nice wad of butter on top.Go here, you will not be disappointed.Forgot to snap a pic of the food, so Ill just share the aftermath...

This is one of my favorite places to go in Fairfield for breakfast.. they got good traditional breakfast plates and some specialties as well. Theres a particular waitress and a man that walks around helping, they are the best! They have great service, are always are nice, and always keep your cups full... I cant remember their names but Ill shout them out on here when I get it...

I’ve been eating here since I was a child. 😊 they haven’t changed a bit! I used to eat at the Vallejo location with my parents after church. Cozy American atmosphere. The clattering of plates and chatter amongst happy locals is somewhat soothing. Everything was perfect, from the crispy bacon in the omelettes to the homemade sausage gravy! But all the raves about the toast/bread are legit. It tastes like senorita bread, only thick sliced like Texas toast. They even sent us home with an entire loaf, and weve already planned all the ways to enjoy it! We cant wait to come back!

Came in around 11am and the place was pretty full but we were seated rather quickly as a table opened up. First server gave us menus and asked us what we wanted to drink. 10 minutes later a different server came to take our order we ordered 2 chicken fried steak breakfasts and then we waited. About 25-30 minutes go by and no one has come back to check on us and so I go up to the register and ask how much longer till we get our food. Lady at the register said a little bit longer because they were so busy, I said but we have been waiting over 20 minutes and no one has even said anything to us. She then says some people have been waiting over 40 minutes for their food. I asked why no one told us the wait was going to 40 plus minutes for food and she said you can see we only have a few people working (which you can not see from table I was at). I asked to just cancel our order and pay for our drinks so we could go and the lady at the register started talking to the server who took our order about it. Now I dont know if the server was yelling at me because it was very loud in there or if she was angry because we wanted to cancel our order but she said no charge for the drinks and to just go. I cant say if they were just bad today or if this is how they always are, all I can say is Im never dining here again.

Good breakfast..coffee which is important to me is so-so(Las Vegas buffets has me spoiled with their coffee)and no better than Babs. The waitress was super sweet and accommodating. Comparing the two this place is better IMO. I recommend.

We stopped for a Sunday breakfast, after I arrived from the train station. Loved my BLT on their fresh baked sweet bread. I saw someone else buy a loaf of the bread... Maybe on my way back home Ill stop and see if I can buy a loaf of the wonderful sweet bread. Not only was the breakfast great but our waitress was fantastic, as well as, the other staff. Nice experience for my first time in Suisun City.

This is one of my favorite places to eat on the weekends. Its our place to go after church and have a great meal. The breakfast is just fantastic. Nice portions cooked perfectly. The blueberry pancakes are to die for...I typically get the vegetarian omelette and they cook it perfectly! With the veggies nicely cooked (not under done like some places) with wheat toast. My man loves the basic breakfast with pancakes on the side.. I am personally not a huge fan of their bread (we are just not bread people).. but when I bring my family there, they go home with a loaf of it.. Great local place, family owned.. go there!!!
This was my first time checking this place out and I gotta say it was right up my alley. I love visiting local eateries sick as this one that seem more homey compared to the typical Dennys and IHOPs. The fresh baked bread they serve is amazing and I shouldve bought a loaf to go. Next time I visit Ill check out the bacon waffle 😋

Great food!! Such attention to detail, wow! The cup I was to use for brewing my tea had been heated. And I was given a choice of five or six different tea flavors! Pancakes were thick, but moist all the way through and very tasty. Extra butter was brought out without me asking. Speaking of butter, my companion was thrilled to note that his English muffin had been spread with butter all the way across, from edge to edge! Oh! And the syrup had been heated for us, too! I cannot recommend this place enough!!
For a place that makes their own bread, I honestly think that it really isnt that good. Its as thick as Texas toast but its very bland and wasnt that enjoyable. I went there with my wife and daughter she we all really didnt find ourselves really enjoying what we got. My daughter found the strawberries to be salty on her french toast, I tried them and totally agreed with her. Its very odd and didnt really seem like a great choice as salty strawberries is just weird. Honestly must stuff we got tasted very bland and I dont think that well be going back

So much potential for something better. At first, this looks like a lovely little cafe to enjoy a hot coffee, good conversation and a nice breakfast/meal. What I found after sitting down was a loud environment with kids screaming and so much noise I couldn’t have a conversation with my grandmother sitting across from me. The food was sub par at best honestly. My grandmother had a burger, that when she took a bite, grease would ooze onto the plate. Super greasy. The chips that were provided to her were lays bagged chips, and I wouldn’t have a problem with this if we were at a deli but this is a restaurant and a restaurant i would expect house made chips. My veggie burger was a thin tasteless, lifeless patty that didn’t have any body. When I bit into the bread, all I could taste was avocado. For the price we paid, it was not worth it. As I sat there and watched the employees work, I found they are very fast food oriented and operate more like a fast food joint rather than a restaurant. Food came out super duper fast but the waitress never came around to ask if the food was even good. This was my first time there and definitely my last time

Fast and friendly service with big portions! My husband and I stopped on our way to wineries and we were very happy with our breakfast. I ordered the side of biscuit and gravy with one egg, expecting one biscuit. It was two so the portion was generous. Gravy was perfect, no additional salt or pepper needed. Biscuits were nice and fluffy and not over done. My husband ordered the French Toast. The bread was homemade and slices thick with a nice hint of nutmeg - again huge portion. Orange juice was just ok.
The French toast could use more flavor. The so-called maple syrup is kind of blah .I drink coffee black and I found its weak. I would try this place again, for lunch, but not for breakfast.
The service was wonderful. The food was delicious. My only two suggestions which are only personal preferences are to make stronger coffee, and to add some type of basic seasoning such as salt and pepper to the ribeye steaks. The cut of meat was quality and the steak was delicious. I just needed to add salt. Again this is personal preference. 🙂
Today my sister and I dined at Joy of Eating. It was very busy today. When a table cleared up we were seated. I believe it was the owner that was serving us. I have dined here many times. And she has served us before. Always pleasant and great service. Our food came out and hot delicious. This has become my go to breakfast spot in the Suisun Marina.

1st time there, had breakfast. Eggs Benedict and country potatoes, all was excellent. Service was friendly and prompt, place was clean and comfortable. Good size portions and very affordable......will definitely be going back!!
I have been a really happy customer since it opened in Vallejo (in 75?). While the Suisun location may not have the memories and the ambiance of the original location it has the same great food and excellent service. Its also roomier, a definite plus

Would have been 5 stars because of the excellent and delicious food. But the older Filipino lady waitress had an attitude and only stopped by to take our order and to drop our food. The other waitress (the white lady) was taking better care of her customers overall, and also the busboy (Younger Latino guy) was super nice and stop by a couple of times to make sure we were OK. The bus boy should be promoted to a waiter, and the older Filipino lady should be a dishwasher or something away from people at least until she changes her attitude!Definitely going to give it another try. This time I have a California on my lap and it was really really good.

Very nice and clean. We were greeted as soon as we stepped in. A cheerful waitress took our order for drinks immediately and when she brought them she took our food order, which was ready very quickly. The food was appetizing to look at and very tasty. We will definitely visit again!
During this time of Covid, finally we had a place to enjoy a great breakfast. Took our family out of our kitchen into theres. Food fabulas😍 Thats just part of it. They reopened properly with the new laws in place. I watched 2 different occasions where a customer went to the restroom, and as soon as the person came out, an employee went in a cleaned it up. This place i already loved. Now, i have to tip my hat. Highly recommended! This is a place you would like eat everyday. Thanks for giving our kitchen a break.

Small portions I had got 2 bacon waffles combos it comes with 1 egg an paid extra for bacon but the two plates seem like the 1 egg is split between both plates 😑 an i paid 35 not happy

If I could give zero stars I would, service was slow, I ordered eggs soft scrambled and I was given one solid mass of egg, my sausage was cold, and my waffle over cooked. My friend I was dining with didn’t eat his French toast because it was so bad and to top it all off after telling the waitress all this her response was “sorry” and we were charged for the food we hardly ate. Save yourself some grief make breakfast at home!
Love this place, this has become my regular breakfast spot. Pancakes are great, but you have to order the toast. Never in my life did I expect to brag about toast. I dont know how they make it but it is awesome.
My husband and I have been here about 6 times since last year. The food as always freshly prepared and fast, and the service has been good. Its not a fancy restaurant by any means, theres more of a comfortable family vibe in the place. Its always been clean and has plenty of options to choose from. So far, we have only been there for breakfast, and every thing has been good. When my parents and in-laws came to town, we made sure to take them here. The homemade bread is a nice difference between them and other breakfast restaurants. So far, there has never been a wait where we have to stand outside like at Babs, and its not as noisey. We have chosen Joy of Eating over Babs on at least four occasions. Looking forward to trying lunch to test out the samdwiches, burgers and teriyaki chicken!

Um, No.... First lipstick on my coffee cup. We ordered corned beef eggs and potatoes wheat toast and a side of gravy.... The gravy came at the end of our meal and tasted horrible. Waitress barley came to the table. Tap water and no butter on the bread which came after our meal and before the gravy???? Completely disappointed. Will never eat here again.
We live walking distance away from this place and we heard good reviews about it so we tried it. the lady that helped up was very nice and sweet. We ordered the eggs benidict. It was way overpriced for the quality of the food. Im not one that writes reviews all the time. But we ordered 2 eggs benidicts and 2 orange juices. It was almost 40 dollars... we were really excited about it but we got let down.
Good crew of people. But I did see one cook arguing with a waitress about potatoes then he started to slam the dishes on top of the countertop. Made me feel bad for the waitress. Unprofessional. But the food is great I still go there.
We always get good breakfast here. Its the best breakfast on the Suisun waterfront. The other diners here have pretty mediocre food but this spot is great. Coffee could be better. Service is always super friendly.
Sure is not what it used to be. The French toast with soggy with raw egg batter in it. My scrambled eggs were cold. And theyre famous Fred just doesnt taste the same anymore. But still have a friendly atmosphere

We went there for Mothers Day and was so disappointed. We wont ever go back. It took forever for us to get our food. The food was so bland as if they didnt use any seasoning; not even the basic salt and pepper. I ordered the Missing Link omelet and it was so bland that I had to add salt, pepper and sour cream just to be able to eat it. The homestyle potatoes that come with it were so bland that I added salt, pepper and tabasco and it was STILL bland. My dad ordered the crab sandwich and found that they canned crab meat (he uses the same crab meat on his nachos so he knows) on a sweet bread. He ordered a side of fries and they seemed like they were the frozen ones you can buy at the grocery store. My mom ordered an omelet and it was also bland but hers had avocado on it so it helped with the taste. However, her homestyle potatoes tasted like fish (so nasty). While my mom was waiting for the restroom she had a clear line of sight of the kitchen and what she saw made her stomach turn. She said that the homestyle potatoes were sitting out (not covered or anything) and one of the cooks that was making a sandwich had wiped his hands (not washed) on a rag that was sitting out before he finished making the sandwich. I question the food that the people on here are saying it was good food because the food we had was so far from good. We were so disappointed that I just spent time writing a long review. THATS how disappointed and disgusted we were.
Awesome diner for coffee and eggs they even gave me a free breakfast when I was having a tough morning plus this is a nice area definitely not a hole in the wall but very classy
Cute little place. i ordered the # 3 . 2 eggs.,hashbrowns And their own Texas style toast 7.50. i thought the other items were too expensive. like 13.00 for an vegie omelet. 13 for burgers .

I had no idea Suisun City had such s quaint little part of town that feels like small town in the middle of urban sprawl. The Joy of Eating Cafe takes you back to when waitresses were nice, people talk to each other, and faces mean a new conversation. If you dont like a little kindness in this world then dont come. By the way...the food is great.
My daughter and l go here...the food is always great and plentiful...its a fun experience and our favorite waitress always remember our order by heart. Cant recommend this place enough!!
Hollandaise sause was packaged. BooooSausage patty is same one I get frozen at wslmart! LolWith a name like this, this cafe should use fresh ingredients.I expected more but still got 4 stars cuz service was excellent!

Best restaurant experience ever!I have a newborn who had an accident that required an entire outfit charge among other things. The waitresses were so helpful, even during a busy lunch hour to help me through this embaressing ordeal. I have too say, best customer service ever 👍👍

Its a nice quite cozy family cafe. Food is great no matter what time or day you go... people are friendly and servers dont hover over you while you eat but make sure you have everything and its all ok and about half way through ask if your ok and need drink refills. ONLY DOWN SIDE IS THEY CLOSE SO EARLY IN THE DAY.

The food is really good my only problem was waitresses only really wanting to wait on those he think well give them a tip if you go in it with the group they dont give you good service because a group guarantees them getting a tip because theyll just take it on your bill so they dont offer you great service so thats been my only complaint its been like that a couple of times maybe three or four times when I went there once with the group never will do that again

2023-05-18 00:45:44Pictures of the food looks average so I thought this restaurant would be average, but the food and the customer service was above our expectations.Their California Omelette is a must try dish! It has crab, cheese and avocado in it. The flavour blends in so well. Chicken fried steak and eggs were delicious too.The lady that served us was friendly. She called us “amigos” the whole time with a genuinely friendly smile.We enjoyed our meal and the customer service.

Nothing fancy, but yummy food.I like the Sunset Omelet and the French toast breakfast with strawberries on top.Waitresses always very attentive and refills of coffee on a timely manner. They normally dont forget about you and check on you to make sure you are still doing ok.

Staff have always been very welcoming and friendly to me, and I feel very comfortable there. They have “famous toast” which was kind of an unusual claim, but it’s good, definitely worth a try!

2023-09-11 03:07:55The food was delicious. We were visiting from out of state. Our son found this place and frequents it for the biscuits and gravy, remindshim of home. The waitress remembered him. This makes our experience very special and personalized. A lot of food, we didnt have to eat again until that evening. Highly recommend.

2023-02-19 02:07:32Food is terrific! Service was excellent 👌 the waitresses kept coming by and asking if we were okay, asking if the food was good, clearing away empty dishes. Also the bread. The bread is on point 👉 fresh baked in house. Buy a loaf and take it home, and you will be happy.

The portions are pretty big and the service was not only great but food came out fast without compromising taste. Place gets busy around 9:45am but they turn tables rather quickly. Thank you Joy of Eating, way to live up to the name.

Hubby enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. Outdoor seating with heat lamps. Parking street side. Great waterfront location.

2018-11-27 20:29:27Super cute cafe. I went around 11am and it started to get a little busy after I arrived. Food was super good. Service was great too. The facility is a little dated but it adds to the effect of the hole in the wall cafe. I had the Waffle Breakfast and my friend got the Eggs Benedict with country potatoes. Mine was awesome but my friend said the ham in hers as a bit tough but other than that she loved it.
