To celebrate a birthday we stopped at this local sushi place around 2:00 pm on a Saturday. It’s small with just tables and chairs but cozy and the staff was quick to serve us. Everything tasted great…. salmon bowl, baked salmon roll, monster roll and appetizers. They even played a happy birthday song and everyone in the restaurant sang to the birthday girl. This is a place we’ll visit again when looking for some sushi.

So glad I found this place! The hubby and I used to drive all the way to Fullerton for good ramen and sushi. Happy to have a found a place nearby. Happy hour is great, rolls are delish and spicy ramen was in fact spicy. Super clean restaurant too. Cant wait to come back!

Nice Environment, Great service.I arrived a bit after 5 on a Tuesday night and was the only person in the restaurant. I ordered the spicy tuna hand roll and the F6 fire cracker roll. The fish was fresh and tasty by the time I finished my food the place was full to capacity.When your in the Whittier area and craving a good sushi spot try Joy Sushi…..

Ive been coming here for years. Its a really great place that has always felt very welcoming. Its a casual spot, but definitely deserves 5 stars. I always come here for the sushi and sashimi but indulge in some baked rolls or the Red Rock Roll every once in a while. Their Salmon Skin Handroll is pretty good too.

This place is an awesome Japanese restaurant! The sashimi is always fresh and the service has always been excellent! Jason, the owner, is a friendly guy and knows how to treat his frequent customers well. My favorite is Bora-Bora sashimi -- spicy but very tasty! They also have a variety of salads, Bento plates, udon noodles, etc. The sake selection is great and they also have wine, Japanese beer like Sapporo, yummy dessert like the mochi ice cream. All in all, Joy sushi is by far, the best sushi/sashimi place Ive ever been to! Highly recommended and a must try sushi place if youre in Whittier area!!

This is another Whittier gem.The Volcano Salmon Roll just melts in your mouth and Godzilla Tuna Roll has the right amount of spiciness, both are delicious. Serice is excellent!

By far my favorite sushi restaurant, I come here once a week. The rolls are fresh and sauces taste made in house (hands down the best eel sauce Ive ever tasted). Everything is so much better than other places. I also recommend dine in even when they get busy.

Ive been a long time customer but tonight was that last straw. For the last 2 years the service and quality have dropped significantly. Tonight, I had the worst service I have ever received from well any restaurant. I came in 45 min till there posted closing time. I was informed that the kitchen was closed and only sushi was available. Not really a big deal but 45 min till closing and you already closed your kitchen? We order our rolls and then are told that its last call for orders. Its now 30 min till closing time. We order the spicy yellowtail roll. Its delivered to our table drenched in spicy ponzu sauce and cut terribly. Two minutes later the check is dropped off at the table. It honestly felt like we were being shoved out the front door. Think its time to find a new sushi joint.

My sister and I visited Joy sushi last night. It was our first outing post pandemic and we were really looking forward to it. The place is tiny but well organized and they have very friendly staff.We ordered the fried calamari rings as a starter and unfortunately it was like chewing into hard rubber. I have never had calamari be so hard and difficult to eat.One of my rolls was delicious but the other one tasted a little off.. I accounted it to my tastebuds being off. I didnt say anything to them thinking it was me, but sure enough, I was Ill all night long due to the tuna being spoiled.I wont be going back at all. Not worth the high price for food that is not fresh.

Ordered ahead for pickup over the phone @ 2 pm & the lady said it would be ready in 20 min, which it was, right on time!The salmon & avocado maki roll was delicious and fresh (note the salmon is raw/uncooked) & the wasabi actually had a kick (which surprised me because the last time I ate here, it didnt)!Definitely recommend this place for fresh, reasonably-priced, tasty sushi 💕

Good sushi for a great price. They definitely have some room to grow. The soy sauce is pretty salty. But that is the brand not theres. But the sushi is pretty good. Would return to try some of the baked rolls. Spicy tuna was pretty good

Below average. Quality does not support prices. Though I was not able to confirm this, I suspect that the sushi was pre-cut (as in earlier in the day as it was dry in places and uncharacteristically thick in certain dishes wherein the fish would be expected to be thin and precise).All of the sauces were off: from the sugary sweet ginger dressing on the salad to the spicy ponzu which was Sriracha with no ponzu. The meal was not inexpensive, and I found the absence of any quality control at that price point to be particularly egregious.

The monster and tuna tuna rolls are delicious. Make sure you have an appetite because they are big rolls. As for their yellow tail jalapeno, it was fresh with a nice spice. I also enjoyed their green hot tea. I will be returning for more.

My hubbys favorite sushi place. He specially loves their Happy Hour. A pitcher of Sapporo Beer for only $7.00. Their Koba Roll is awesome. We normally go there once a week. The staff already knows us and always give us excellent customer service.

Good quality and prices arent bad. Can get busy on the weekends especially at the sushi bar. The baked lobster and baked crab rolls are my favorite along with the spicy tuna hand roll on soy paper (I opt to go without the seaweed). Good service and the waitresses have been helpful and prompt with service.

Not sure if its because of Covid and their food has suffered or what... but the sushi was NOT good. The tempura was so fluffy and thick and soggy and same with the deep fried roll. My husband didnt really like his either. I cant believe this place gets 5 stars! After we ate my stomach hurt so bad and I ended up getting sick in the bathroom. I will not go back. Sorry, Im all about small business...but not when it makes me sick.

This is my favorite sushi place period. There prices are a little higher but their portions are bigger and I have never been to a sushi restaurant that gives out so much free food to customers. The quality of their food is the best and their service is fast. Im blown away at how quickly they get food to you even when they are busy. I just cant say enough good things about Joy

Ever since covid, the wait time has gotten out of control. They need more workers or if its going to take 2 hours to be ready then just say that. Its good food but the last 3 times they did the same thing. They say 45 minutes but it takes 2 hours. If its going to take that long no prob, but sitting there waiting and not knowing is really infuriating.

The atmosphere is nice and Monai and pear are very caring in the customers are having a good time. The susi is awesome and the beer prices are great Icy cold Sapporo beer 34 oz on draft you would not believe the price. One of my favorite restaurants.Jason the head chef is very nice man and he knows how to really prepare the susi in a wonderful touch of beauty on making the dishes appealing.

I love sushi so much. I have always had sushi and have never had any problems eating it. I’m not sure if I was the only one to get food poising on 08/31/20, but I’m currently in the restroom after a long night of the runs and vomiting. I had the aloha roll and I’m now regretting it.

Used my bank card to pay dinner with, next thing I know, my bank alerted me of some suspicious transactions, some one had try to make huge purchases with the account and cvv numbers and the only place I had used my bank card was at this place. I would have never think that someone would do this. So yes Im saying that someone at this place stole my card info to go on a shopping spree. 👎👎👎👎👎👎

So the food was ok. But I have to say that the service was not only poor but extremely rude. Then when wanting to leave a tip, which we prob shouldnt have, we walked in and the man behind the counter shouted at us to just dro pl the tip on the counter! Very rude will not be going back.
