I live not too far from this Chinese eatery but when I went there, Holy Moly, it was tasty. But I will explain why the 4 stars.I really do not care about the restaurant decor or condition because I do not like to dine-in alone in public. But the place looks and feels welcoming. I rather take my food home. I got Combo B and I tried the Chicken Teriyaki, Orange Chicken, wings, and Broccoli Beef.The Chicken Teriyaki is kind of tender and sometimes it is burned a little bit but I do like it a little dark. Still good enough to eat.Orange Chicken is crispy but a little too sweet in my point of view.Chicken Wings are also sometimes a little burned but good enough to eat.Broccoli beef is chewy sometimes but I cannot say no to that.I admire that they have a Grade A from Health Inspection but the food kind of throws me off. But 4 stars is better than 1, 2, or 3. But I still come here to eat because I do not hate the food.

Make this your spot for whenever you are in the mood for Chinese because you wont regret it. Portions? They fill the take out box until it barely closes. Its the best, enough said.
This place is hands-down the best Chinese takeout Ive ever had.I travel a lot and I have never found any place that is remotely close to how great this place is.The BBQ pork and teriyaki chicken are second to none.They go out of their way to make items not on the menu for you. My wife always asks for the Peppered Fried Fish and it takes a little while but its definitely worth the wait. That is her favorite dish there.This place was located on the corner of MLK Blvd and Abbot before the Rodney King riots. Luckily they found a new location and are doing just as well and the food is just as good!
They opened a new Chinese food down the street.. looks nice and is clean a.c. and the whole 9 yards but the first and only time I ate their food it was disgusting... Ive eaten joy wok for years in there and at home and have always loved it.. better quality food and great service is worth more than a a.c. room. So worth the short drive.
Authentic Asian cuisine. The folks are also very compassionate. I went there at the end of the day and saw how they offered dinner to homeless man that was right outside their establishment. Awesome in my hook.!👍

Today i went to Joy wok In South Gate And their rude, and their place doesnt look sanitary . They charged for half way filled water down sriracha. Maybe if they fill them to the top Customers wouldnt ask for more. Maybe Putting sriracha on the table so they can self serve would be a good idea.

Who in these days does not accept debit/ credit cards!? And then they charge you to use their ATM inside there place, double charging if you dont have cash!!
This place has to be the most nasty place ever it had flies in the place also no air conditioning it was hot I took 5 steps in a 5 steps back out yeah you people say its delicious but can you imagine the bacteria your eating flies mixed with heat equals eggs growing at a rapid rate my advice is tell them to close the door and get an air conditioner if its that hot ewwwwwww

This place is the best homemade chinese food i have found anywhere in a long long time, they make everything fresh and it never sits for too long, i work aound this area snd the people are rude and are selfish and have no respect for anyone drinking at their job sites and trashing up the place .
I can’t believe how I finished my soup in this place, first of all she had bad attitude about using card and said just cash. Then I’m asking for a quarter of lime with my soup and she ignored me. At the end soup was too salty and not good at all. I don’t recommend this place.
I live right around the block; very convenient location, the workers are very friendly and energetic too.I enjoy the shrimp fried rice, the chow mein, and the teriyaki chicken.

2023-11-02 06:40:36Decided to stop by before heading to work. I grabbed spicy wings, orange chicken, fried rice, and chow mein. Everything was delicious. I even bought Chow mein to go for lunch later. Also, just an FYI, it is cash only.

2023-05-24 21:09:53It is one of my best places to get some goodol Chinese fast food. Bring cash as it is cash only. Food is hot and usually recently made. I have been coming here for a long time, and it has never failed me. Chow mein here is my favorite from many others I tasted. Orange chicken is great. Also, my favorite, jalapeño chicken is also great. Would recommend!

2021-03-20 21:28:01So here is the thing about Joy Wok, you either love them - or you love them!They have been around since the early 90s when they were located behind El Farallon in Lynwood - next to a liquor in that huge shopping center (thats now a school) on MLK Jr. Blvd.Then they moved to a random place in South Gate. Then they moved again to where they are located currently!As a lifelong fan I must say this is the best chinese food spot there is and you will find. Their food is best when fresh but even when it isnt its just so tasty.The original cooks from way back when it seems are not here anymore but it seems it may have been a family business and recipes because the food still tastes the same. Other chinese food spots have cold chinese food, bad after taste, dry sometimes, you can tell its old - not JOY WOK! Trust me. Try them and you will not be dissappointed.I recommend a combo with two sides: Half Chow Mein, Half Fried Rice - black pepper chicken and orange chicken.Oh and if your feeling fat like me!? Add a Mongolian Beef (it takes about 10 more minutes for this order but its worth it cause they make it fresh!)They close Sundays but try them out any other day of the week. Trust me. This is not your mediocre moms and pops chinese food spot. Its delicious oh and you can also order their food for parties!

The fried rice well cooked not very greasy and good taste, I ordered chicken with vegetables and super good too! I can not comment on the rest yet but I give 5 stars
