My wife and I were stuck at home with Covid and didnt want to order another pizza, and we dont use dordash. We were very pleasantly surprised to find out Joyful House delivers! Great food, great prices, and they deliver! FIVE STARS!

My go to is the Hong Kong pan fried noodles with seafood and the salted egg pork chop. Big portions. Owners are lovely. Also weird that Google Maps deleted their old business and reviews. Been going here for years!

My husband and I were wandering around and wanted some Chinese food, other than the worst 88 baobab location in CV or the HK BBQ place that we always go for when I dont feel like cooking. Turns out maybe we should avoid these adventures...Someones smoking in the back kitchen and you can just smell that. Hard to flag someone as they were busy chatting...Black Beans Sauce Shrimp, is more of black beans sauce onion, pepper literally only few shrimps... The oil in my eggplant rice, I could probably cook 2+ more dishes 🤮

First time coming here but definitely not the last!!!We were seated quickly and given the menus. The lady directed us to the lunch specials on the back of the menu and got our drunk order.We ordered the potstickers for a starter and they came out in a timely manner.We then placed our food order. 2 of us got the lunch special which comes with a soup, your protein and rice. The 3rd person got a soup.All I can say is the portions are large and so worth it. The flavor was great and was super happy with the selection.If you havent eaten here definitely give them a try. Their prices were reasonable and I have left overs for dinner.

There was no one in the place when we arrived but the phone rang a lot for to go. We had the family dinner C with orange chicken, brocolli beef, rice and chow mean with won ton soup. We also got chow fun, fried prawns, egg rolls and won tons. Good sauces, fresh produce and tasty crispy. We will go again.

Weve ordered dilivery from here several times and were really pleased. Recently we decided to dune in and happy we did. Everything came out so hot we needed burned our tongues being impatient and not waiting for it to cool off. It was soooo good. The staff was amazing, we wanted for nothing. Well be back!

Great food! We got there on a weekday for a late lunch. There was immediate seating available. The servers were friendly and attentive. The food arrived promptly and it was hot, fresh, deliciously tasty and plentiful. Dont pass it up!

Picked up our order. Fried rice, egg goo young. And chicken with mushrooms. $50.00 chicken was raw. UGH. NOT HAPPY. When I went back they didnt even want to look at the chicken I had to open the container up and show them and make them look at it.

I’ve never had worse orange chicken in my life. It was all skin, and no meat. They burnt the fried rice. Panda Express has more authentic Chinese food than this place. Never going back. 👎🏼

We love this place. The food is terrific and the people there are great! My current favorite dish is the Salted Fish, Chicken and Eggplant Clay Pot. Fantastic. The Hot & Sour Soup is fabulous and the Egg Foo Young is better than any other place Ive had it. If you like authenticity, ask for the other menu. Lots of amazing stuff. There are lots of Chinese places in Castro Valley, but this ones the best!

Service was good. Good amount of food. Good prices. My son and i just ordered the orange chicken, Ive had better it was ok. And we also order pork buns they were better then the orange chicken. I think they might have used old oil. Not sure though. Everybody that works there are very nice. And its very clean place.

Amazing chinese food. Highly recommend it here. Some of the best in the east bay. Everything we ordered was great. The chicken wings here are bomb! You gotta try them. The fried rice, sweet and sour pork and Mongolian beef are delicious! Very clean and nice staff. Check them out!

Good price, proportions were very large, but the food lacked in quality flavor and seemed greasy.Fried Egg Rolls - Pretty tasty, probably my favorite part of the order, but would be better with cleaner oil.Broccoli Beef- Flavor was not bad, but the meat was kind of fatty and greasy.Shrimp Fried Rice - Flavor was pretty good for the rice, but the shrimp flavor was slightly stale.Chicken Chow Mein - Flavor was mediocre, mostly because it was so greasy that the grease overpowered the seasoning.Suggestions to the establishment: invest in better quality meats and higher quality oil (use less and dont reuse if you are doing so).

We came here wanting to try another place besides Hong Kong BBQ for lunch, and this place is a good alternative.Their Beef Chow Fun was done well with not too much oil and had the right balance of beef, onion and bean sprouts. Pan fried noodles was done well but their dumpling was so-so. Plates here are big and you get lot of food, but their menu was hard to look at; the font color had a terrible contrast with the background.

Server was positive, enthusiastic and gracious. The bok choy with shrimp was the best I have ever had, anywhere! With the new parking lot and the convenient back entrance, it is becoming my go-to Chinese restaurant. Tell your server what you like and they will help you choose a yummy entree.

Joyful House is Chinese food at its WORST.Egg roll appetizer was greasy, overcooked on the outside still FROZEN IN THE MIDDLE. The orange peel beef was greasy, too salty, pretty much inedible. Nothing joyful about the Joyful House. I strongly do not recommend this business

Nice restaurant with plenty of parking in front or behind. Prices seems to be more with smaller portions. I love oysters cooked any way but Joyful does not have oysters on the menu!

My husband and I where there tonight with our 1 year old and 4 year old and we ordered the Dinner A- they charged us a full course dinner for the baby and when I bought it up to them, about their mistake, and told them I never order the baby a full meal anywhere! they didn’t care and still charged us the dinner for a 1 year old, I left very disappointed in their service..

Parking lot in the back or street parking in front. Their dishes caters to the American taste and to the Chinese as well. I normally avoid the generic orange chicken, beef broccoli stuff so I cant comment on them. Likes: Bifangtang (fried fish tossed with garlic, chili and spices), egg tofu with steak cubes, pickled mustard and steak cubes, Westlake soup. Try the house specials they have a new cook - there are some new dishes Ive not seen at other restaurants. They do have a private room for large parties.

After spending $50 and totally getting my moneys worth (portion-wise) I got home and immediately became super disappointed that out of the five dishes we ordered, the chicken chow mein smelled and tasted STRONGLY of melted plastic.. my first thought was the take out containers, however none of the other dishes had this issue and they were all in the same containers and the same temperature. As soon as I opened the chow mein box the smell hit me. Chow mein is my favorite so of course I had to taste it just to be sure. I spit it right back out and so did my husband and father in law. I wish I could give more stars but Im pretty upset about this, posting just after eating dinner..

This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants, and Ive been here many time since it opened in April 2014. I highly recommend the salted egg fried pork chops, seafood tofu clay pot, pea sprouts, and E-fu noodles w/mushrooms.
