Great food, good beer selection and now serving breakfast!! Owner and staff provide top level service with a very inviting outdoor patio as well as tv’s for sports in the bar. Best burger in town (ABC) and country fried steak/eggs is spot on!

Great diner with great service.We tried the blackened pastrami, New York Reuben the Korean BBQ tacos all of which were quite delicious!!! On the side we had onion rings and theyre probably the best Ive had in the East Bay.You really cant go wrong here. We will definitely return and venture through the rest of the menu items.

Our bar tender and server, Jennifer, was perfect! Her service was spot on. She provided great recommendations and was hella cool, lol. The food was great and they have live entertainment on Saturdays. I will be back.

I have visited this restaurant a few times and loved every experience. The staff is super friendly and accommodated a large group. Everyone loved the meals, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. The Saturday/Sunday breakfast is so good when you want a great tasting meal to start your weekend day! Also, don’t pass up on the BBQ, this is legit smoked food!!! Last time I stopped in for lunch and had the patty melt, it was cooked PERFECTLY!! Can’t wait to go again!

This place was delicious! Certainly a brunch gem in Castro valley. I had the breakfast burrito and it did not disappoint. Everything i saw on other peoples plates audio looked delicious. I had this guy John for a waiter. He says he was new but you wouldnt know it. He was friendly and attentive. I will definitely go again.

Simply Amazing! Wanted to visit pre-Covid but didn’t get the chance. Was finally able to make it out and it was well worth it. Great menu selection both in food and drinks! We ordered a variety of drinks and bartender was on point! Service was great from all employees from waiter to busser. All plates were cleared promptly and multiple workers worked as a team! We will definitely be back!!!

My kind of old skool restaurant with bar open for lunch, bartenders are old skool and amazing! They know what good service should be, which is so rare nowadays.Only downside was the very unfriendly regulars at the bar, which is unusual for a place like this with staff like this. The regulars were friendly to staff, but not other customers, which like it or not hurts the business they claim to be a huge fan of! I definitely dont behave that way in places where Ive had the honor of being considered a regular!

The food was good but the waitress I had felt like she went out of her way to ignore our table. There was a table that was right next to us that she continued to check on and would purposely turn her back towards me and my friend not checking on us or acknowledging us. Like the other table was literally in arm length distance it would’ve been nothing for her to just acknowledge us and check on us the same way she checked on the them. The hostess, the busboy, and even the waitress that wasn’t ours was super nice but the woman who was assigned to us was just rude for no reason at all. Like the only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the food was good we just had the worst waitress that ruined the experience for us.

Absolutely a wonderful place to eat! The food is fantastic! The staff and the service is excellent, the OWNER runs plates to the diners to insure a nice hot meal! The fried corn appetizer sounds different, but its absolutely fantastic! However get there early for Happy Hour appetizers!We all had something different. Auntie had fish and (not chips) onion rings that were fabulous! Uncle had Chicken Marsala which was smothered in a fantastic sauce with a pile of mushrooms, and I had mushroom ravioli that were amazing! We will make it a regular family spot to eat! Check it out! They also have a great Sports Bar!

Dining here at about 8 o’clock tonight this very entitled “supposed “doctor walks in, and is irate because they ask for an ID.He cannot supply them with a pictured ID. He showed them a temporary ID with no photo. This goes against ABC rules.He became irate with the owner, and the owner like a gentleman tried to explain to him that they could not except that type of ID. He should be thankful that they asked him for his ID. I can’t believe how entitled some people are! We love this place! great service, good food.

Ive gone to JPs a few times and its never been bad service but I went today and it was terrible. We had a server named Sheila and we saw her maybe twice, drinks were empty for a while. Then I sent back ribs that I had ordered because they were super dry and a lady came and was like you said they were dry? I just picked them apart ? and made a face. As a server, you dont really question why people didnt like it. Incredibly rude establishment, both ladies who served us. Only decent one was a lady named Teresa

It has been a while since we last ate here. We recently went to have some appetizers and drinks to enjoy a Warriors Playoff game.It certainly has a fun and positive local Castro Valley vibes! Places like this is why we enjoy living here in Castro Valley. There is a TV at every corner in the bar, perfect for watching games or any sports.The cocktails are good. We had fish tacos, wings, and the Korean beef tacos. Out of the three, I enjoyed the Korean beef tacos. Other food are decent.

I came in 11/08 after my work shift from the hospital, I wanted to get some nice steak around the neighborhood, I looked at reviews I decided this looked great for a nice steak, (which I doubt because the response to my bad review, clearly shows it is bunch of bogus look at the customer who reviewed, he only has one review going out of his way to back up the owner, stupidity is beyond logical reasoning), and it is not logical to let customer wait around 30 minutes or more and on top of that order with agreed upon with waitress just to expect a response to leave after from manager, how rude) I come in and was introduced with a waitress and she welcomed me with menu and I’ve ordered. When I did order I let the waitress know I’ve recently lost my drivers license and I have the temporary license made by DMV its self with its actual license number. Then she accepted and I’ve waited for 15 minutes and ordered a prime ribeye steak with beer on the side, after 20 minutes of waiting I was unexpectedly welcomed by a man who seemed to be the manager at this time 11/08, who rudely accused me of fake ID and if I didn’t leave, he would call the cops. I do not know why he would accuse such thing because I had legitimate temporary ID from DMV itself, yet he continued to accuse me even though I wore a uniform that represents me as a doctor. I never been treated this way before in any restaurant, i left confused and dumbfounded. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially I felt racism.

For our middle school soccer team championship celebration JP’s was recommended as we could dine in their covered outdoor patio, and the huge variety of dishes offered would be sure to please the pickiest pre-teen appetite while meeting our parents’ expectations. JP’s not only set our reservation at 22 people, but on the day we actually needed to add about 10 more last minute arrivals. Problem? Not at all, JP’s knew exactly how to accommodate us and fit us all perfectly as we needed the entire patio. The hosts and wait staff were very efficient and good humored, and the buzz of the busy evening inside was cheerful. In the patio we had plenty of room and were always attended upon. Some of us received our food after a bit of a wait but although that was regrettable it was to be highly likely given our numbers and the fact that we didn’t pre-order. Nonetheless the quality of the food was well-received by kids and adults alike. Our experience at JP’s was seamless and really enhanced our celebratory evening. Thank you, JP’s, for making our team celebration memorable!

Saturday Date Night means Dinner at JPs Restraunt. Prime Rib, Baked Potato, Creamed Spinach and a Glass of Merlot. Were we transported to an expensive Steak House in The City 🏙️? It is nice to have a place in CV that still serves a Baked Potato 🥔, even if it is only on Saturday. Service was great thanks to our Hostess who made sure our dining experience was exceptional. Ive been going to JPs often for about a year now. Have tried a variety of meals (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner) Food is Excellent & Prices Reasonable. Service is a bit slow as they appear short staffed. Last 2 times though it looked liked a couple more waitresses had been hired. One of those new hires ( younger with pulled back medium length straight blonde hair) was rude my last 2 visits. Last visit being Labor Day. She tries to be discreet about her rudeness, but no doubt, she has issues! Next time I go I will ask not to be seated in her section.

We have been several times and have tried several different items. All fall into the category of just alright. I would say the pizza is probably your safest bet. They are trying to do to much and making rookie mistakes. Shorten the menu and really concentrate on your best items and make them worth coming back for. Last visit I had cup of watery bland clam chowder and a breaded catfish filet that was atop a bowl of Cajun spiced French friesI know I thought the same thing....that really sounds good. Soup did not arrive till after my fish and chips were at the table which I had to remind them ofThen the presentation was sloppy. Usually you get several fish portions with a fish and chips meal. There was a single piece of fish and a big bowl of fries. Will definitely need some coaxing to go back, if I do just sticking with the pizza.

Weve been at JPs before and had a good experience but this time, food was good and tasty, service wasnt the best. We got Teresa as our waitress and she didnt have the best attitude since the beginning. Table of three and our table was cluttered at some point due to lack of timely recollection of silverware and dishes, one of us spilled a glass of water and we all were trying to dry the mess. The staff reaction was, waitress just looked at us, steward just came to collect all dishes and the manager handed us a cloth to keep drying! No one was kind enough to offer any sort of action and remember, we are in the middle of a pandemic so restaurant was half of its sitting capacity. Worst service Ive seen in years!

Lori was our server in the lounge area a few nights ago and she did a great job taking care of us! It was our first time in JPs; actually our first time in Castro Valley together. After seeing a wonderful performance of A Midsummer Nights Dream at CalShakes in Orinda, my boyfriend and I had a little bit of time to kill before meeting up with friends, so we stopped in here and grabbed a salad and buffalo wings with garlic fries.Our salad was split into two (huge) bowls without us even asking. That was awesome and it was delicious!!! The wings were good; well, the sauce was great, the chicken itself was pretty dry. But we enjoyed them. And the garlic fries were outstanding, until about halfway through. The bowl they were in had a half inch of oil or so at the bottom, so the bottom layer of fries were literally dripping wet and soggy. Not sure what happened there.We enjoyed relaxing, watching TV, eating slowly, and listening to the tables next to us. We would definitely come back and check out more of their extensive menu.

Decided to give this place a try this past fathers day for breakfast. I ordered the steak with hash browns and it was decent. My uncle loves chicken and waffles, so that is what he ordered. He was unplesanly surprised when his chicken was not hot on the outside. When he ripped it apart for further inspection the middle was completely frozen. Throughout our time dining our waitress was very hard to flag down and seemed to forget half of the things we asked her, for example creamer. I dont recommend this place.

Im not sure how everything else is but my girlfriend and I got burgers to go and they were just okay. She got the ABC burger and it came with 3 tiny avocado slices for 3 extra dollars. Also, I dont think there was a point in ordering different temperatures since both the medium and medium rare burgers were around medium well. Again I dont know how everything else is, maybe they specialize in something else and I just wasnt familiar enough to know. It seemed like a nice place to go out to eat I just wouldnt recommend the burger.

We had breakfast here and sat down before three other tables and we were served last. We didn’t get water or a menu or coffee until the second waitress showed up about 15-20 minutes later. There was no busboy to help out. The waitress never refilled our coffee cup until I went over to the counter where she was filling the ketchup bottles and asked for more coffee for my Dad and the bill. Absolutely horrible service. Im glad to see that they have completely remodeled the old Dinos Restaurant. Service was good food was good. The only complaint I have is about the noise level. The place is so cavernous that the noise level is extremely Loud and it is difficult to hear conversation. I would suggest to the owners that they install noise dampeners which would fit perfectly up in the ceilings.

I ordered the shrimp Louie which clearly said in the description on the menu that it came with romaine lettuce and bay shrimp. It did NOT. I would have been content to pay almost $15 for the salad but it was a few pieces of 60/40 shrimp which I do not care for and iceberg lettuce, two slices of tomato and two pieces of asparagus for looks.... I pointed out that the salad did not match the menu description and traded it in for a Cobb salad which I enjoyed. They charged me for BOTH salads. My bill was $40 for two salads and a coffee.... This is with a 10% discount. On the positive side the hamburgers here looked to be absolutely delicious. The service was great.

Like what theyve done with the place. I was surprised at how nice it looks because when it was Dinos, the ceiling looked SO low and it was quite dark. I still liked Dinos, but this is ready for prime time.Food and service were both good. i had the Beef Shish Kabob, which isnt on a skewer, and I kinda like that. I have been to JPs numerous times for game nights and friends nights. I give it 3 stars for the pizza, sandwiches, wings and bartenders. The food is iffy for everything else. I’ve tried many things on the dinner menu. The meat is not the greatest. It’s either undercooked or it feels like a lot of cartilage and rubber. I’m sure we can all agree that chicken should never taste or feel like rubber. I gave it a shot a couple times thinking it was a one or two time thing but that’s just the low quality of meat they carry.

One lady was giving away a rose each table for mother’s day, asking the lady if they were a mother. She went to the couple on our left then to our right and totally skipped our table as if we weren’t there or didn’t exist. I couldn’t care less about a single flower but when someone made you feel you don’t belong because of the color of your skin. Im not a guy who typically writes negative reviews but I am a guy that spent many years in customer service and have been a private contractor in the service arena for over a decade. Heres my experience at JPs today based on what happened just a while ago informed by years of working directly with customers - even the not-so-happy ones....Went in for brunch with my wife. The waitress was inattentive but not unpleasant. The food took an unusually long time to come out but a couple that came after us got served with no sign of our food. Shed also forgotten my coffee and my wife needed to get up and go ask for it.Wed waited so long that at that point I decided to cut my losses and go over to Dougs. As we were leaving the food finally came. I expressed my displeasure to the waitress and I understood that it wasnt her fault personally. She told me that there was a slow up in the kitchen and I said ok. Just because theres a slow up and it isnt your fault doesnt mean that Im still not annoyed...as other customers obviously have been because she mentioned that the kitchen has been slow all day. I never even implied it was her fault and even told her ok, Im just really hungry. She offered a discount to which I declined. I simply wanted to eat. I went in hungry and by this point I was hungry and a bit agitated. However, I wasnt loud or rude or anything. I was visibly annoyed.With my head down I start plowing into my food when the manager walks up and tries to explain the situation while Im eating. I was all good with her until she said dont ever talk to my server like that ....Thats when I blew. Talk to your server like what?!She hadnt been privy to the conversation that I had with her server any more than the people who were sitting right next to me. Not even halfway through my food I got up and proceeded to walk out. I did, regrettably start to get loud. Theres no excuse for that but to be accused of being rude to the server without even finding out what the customer viewpoint was was over the top for me. What the manager didnt/doesnt get is that what took an already annoyed customer over the top was when she accused me of having done something to her employee or talked to them a certain way which wasnt the case. Was I irritated? Sure. Was I abusive in any way to her server? Nope. Not even a little. Did I get loud after that interaction? Yes. I regret that part.There are at least two different, well established restaurants in the area that we usually go to for breakfast/brunch but wanted to give the new spot a try.Needless to say this experience was horrible enough for me to never step foot in there again which is a shame because this is the community that I live in and like to circulate my dollars. Whenever I want something as simple as bacon and eggs, hashbrowns and a bowl of fruit Ill take my money back to Dougs or Normans. When three places, all within walking distance all do the same thing it then comes down to service.Im sure that the manager and server have their own viewpoint but now that Ive cooled down a bit I really felt like getting that off my chest.
