Had a fantastic birthday dinner here! Foods were amazing! Husband was very impressed on the King Salmon and even said it’s the best salmon he’s had yet! My Mixed Seafood Grill was also nothing but perfect. Would definitely come back if we ever visit the area again and recommend this place to our friends and family!

Surprisingly really good. Fresh fish and well seasoned dishes. Service is excellent. If you have been to a Roys this is very similar atmosphere. If you like a Hawaiian style restaurant with a focus on fish this might be the better of all the spots in Tahoe for this option.

We were celebrating our 29th Anniversary on our camping trip with our girls. Our waiter Raul was so kind and very helpful in choosing items to order. Had a wonderful dinner, even though we were not dressed for this 5 star dining, they didn’t turn us away. Every dish my family chose was excellent. The scallops that I had were dreamy to taste. The salad had a wonderful dressing that ai want again. We come up once a year and You bet we will return for another wonderful top of the line eating experience. Thank you again Raul for being an excellent employee of this amazing restaurant.

Upscale happy hour in the village. We came at 5pm, the opening and sat at the bar. I had the pretty lady martini and my husband the painkiller. Both were very good hand muttled drinks. We didnt eat anything this time but determined to go back and partake of more.

Expectations were met, we tried unsuccessfully to get a table and finally got our act together and made a reservation (highly recommend). Food was wonderful, full of flavor and in the right quantities. Friendly staff made our experience a hit. Their signature Chilean Sea Bass dish is excellent.

Service was not great, atmosphere was ok and food was good. We arrived when it opened and it was not busy. Waiter took our order and moved on to the next. We travel extensively, especially to Hawaii, so we were looking forward to checking out this place. It was ok. A little pricey for what you het but the Hula pie was great

Chilean sea bass over the decades has been a hard find on menus so having this delicious fish is a treat any time the opportunity presents itself. While the sea bass was cooked very well, the miso marinade was so salty that it took away from truly enjoying my favorite fish. Additionally, the bed of spinach on which the sea bass sat on was over sautéed and we all know what that does to spinach. Im glad I had the sense to get the ponzu butter sauce on the side as that would have rendered the food inedible.Disappointing for a $44 entree.

My wife and I went here on a weekend trip to lake Tahoe in September. We had one of the bests dinners weve had in years. I couldnt decide what to get because everything look so good, so I went with the Mixed Seafood Grill, while my wife went with the Miso-Yaki Chilean Sea Bas. Everything was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of seasoning. The portions were generous without being too much, leaving room for desert. I went with the hula pie which is large enough to share, but my wife went for her own creme brulee, so I had to give it the old college try. I made it about 2/3 of the way through before I had to pack it in. If you like seafood, with a subtle Hawaiian twist I highly recommend this place.

I loved Kalanis, food was very good, service was good, and me and my friends drink were good. I got the Painkiller and she had I think the Chains Required which is a hot coffee drink. If I go back to Tahoe again, I plan to go back to Kalanis and try another dish. This time I got the Kalua pig quesadilla and she got the Loco Moco benedict.

Great service & staff. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. They do add auto gratuity 20% so be careful checking your bill (for 4 people). Shrimp scampi, mahi mahi, and poke bowl were all good. Ran about $100/person with appetizers, drinks, and after tax/tip.

Ive been to lake tahoe many times but it was our first time to try at Kalanis and we were not disappointed. The service was great, the place was good and definitely the food was the best!! Its a bit pricey, but hey! Its reasonable and I want to go back there to try their other menu!! Im a sushi lover and I love their Kalani roll. Its tastier than the ones in Raku Shushi. Their Ahi Poke tuna was also the best! OMG! I savored all the flavors on that night. Their strawberry dockery nailed it too, my husband was impressed with his drink The Waikiki, he loved being a little tipsy. We are definitely going back for sure!!! And before I forget, call them and be sure to get a reservation because they get filled right away!!

Everything my wife and I had was great; the drinks are strong food was tasty. We had a bunch of small bits and split them. The food came out fast even for a busy night/weekend on ski week. The wait staff was really on top of everything and made sure we were taken care of. Im definitely coming back and would recommend it to our friends and family.

It was a really busy Saturday night. We grabbed a spot in the bar to eat dinner. I have a gluten allergy and they had a lot of great options. Everything we ate was amazing. Oysters were huge. Ceviche was delicious. And our entrees, the tiger shrimp and bone in pork were amazing. Our server, Deborah, Im pretty sure was pulling double duty as server and bartender and she was HUSTLING. I highly respect her efforts. She was amazing. I wouldnt be surprised if shes a lead employee. Oh, and the dessert, a gluten free chocolate lava cake was to die for.

This is my new favourite restaurant in Tahoe. The shrimp lettuce wraps and choco volcano cake are a must try!We went there for dinner with our puppy, they immediately started us on the patio. It was a chilly day so they placed tower heaters right next to our table. Misty took great care of us with drinks and even reseated us at a different table when it started to drizzle. The lobster bisque and clam chowder were light and flavorful. We got a heavenly salad, which was fantastic. The main course of salmon was so fresh and delicious, and we loved the guava cheesecake. They have a 3 course meal for 55$. We loved it. Dont forget to add on the coconut shrimp!!!

We wanted to eat at this restaurant on Wednesday evening after Skiing, turns out they were so busy with many reservations and we would have to wait for two hours, so end up we had to come back the next day (Thursday) for their happy hour from 2:30 to 5 pm.When we got in, there was only Sushi Bar seats available, since there were 8 of us, we basically took all of the seats at the Sushi Bar.Overall the Sushi was great for been at Lake Tahoe, items were pretty fresh and services from the Chefs of the Sushi Bar was fenomenal.Since it was happy hour, we accidentally ordered more than what we were able to consume, so had to take home some left over of Fried dishes (there are some dishes I forgot to take pictures, I was so into eating).I do recommend everyone to give this place a try.

You can go here for HH 4-6pm at the bar. cheaper prices for food and the selections are decent. had the short ribs/kalbi, garlic fries, spicy tuna roll (least favorite cuz it was bland), shrimp tempura roll, deep fried ahi tuna. each dish was around $7/$8 so it’s better than paying the normal overpriced amount outside of HH for these dishes. regular menu looks good too. one of the servers - the older man- was very nice. but the young girl server bringing out food looked like she didn’t want to be here or to serve us.

Awesome meal, responsive service!!We wanted a good meal on our last night in Tahoe and this place didnt disappoint! We ordered the pork chops with Brussels Sprouts and mashed sweet potato. My chop was perfect, but my dining partners was undercooked. Her chop was much thicker than mine which may be the reason. She tried to eat it but asked if it could be cooked a little longer. The waitress was apologetic and immediate took it back. The dish came back and was re-plated beautifully and the chop was great. The waitress surprised us with dessert on them. It just happened to be my dining partners favorite! Chocolate cake with an orchid. The cake was so moist and delicious!! They also served delicious looking drinks but we didnt indulge because we were driving.We ate outside with the heaters and it was nice watching the crowds go by.The service was great, the food wonderful and even though there was a slight problem it was handled beautifully!The restaurant is located in Heavenly Village. You can park behind Raleys across the street.This was one of our best meals while in Tahoe!

LOWN AWAY by the sea bass. If youre from Hawaii or have had miso butterfish - this taste like that but better. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and I am so curious as to how the heck they were able to keep the fish so moist and flavorful without overpowering the misoyaki flavor yet infusing it into the entire piece of fish. I ate my dish n in silence enjoying it. It brought me back home. I am very picky with fish and this is the best fish I have had outside of Hawaii and Japan.Service was okay. Been coming here since opening day. I was a bit bummed they changed the menu, but then I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant changed for the better. I love the shrimp lettuce wraps! Kalani’s is a great option in amongst a bunch of pizza and other fast food type options. Service is excellent and very prompt.Food was pretty good too. The signature Chilean sea bass was wonderful. As were the tuna poke and seafood platter (2 scallops, 1 jumbo shrimp and fish of the day which was New Zealand sea bass today).We even ordered a filet steak and that was declared ‘delicious’ by the person who finished it off!A couple of the appetizer dishes didn’t quite hit the same levels. Cucumber Kim Chee was very salty (so much so that we couldn’t really eat it and the server took it back). Baby back ribs and edamame were okay.Worth a visit if you’re in the Heavenly Village Area.

Looking for something other than burgers and pizza, go to Kalanis at Heavenly Village.Never wanted to try sushi until I went there. Had the baby back ribs and lettuce wrap with blackened shrimp for starters then California roll and Kaleni roll for entreand finished it off with chocolate lava cake. This place is a joke. I went for the sushi and raw bar items on the menu. They said they they didn’t serve these items during their bunch time. We were there @ 1 PM. The menu made it look like they did serve the items during brunch. I just can’t believe they don’t have separate menus for brunch and diner or make it obvious on the menu. My girlfriend had their burger which was basic and over priced I had fish tacos which were ok. Don’t waste your money here.

Excellent spicy tuna roll. The pork belly was melt in your mouth good! The only thing I felt disappointed by was a funny taste in my lobster bisque. Maybe they added something like sherry in it but whatever it was, it was off putting. Volcano chocolate raspberry cake was also delicious!

Appetizers and salads good but main dishes (fish) just mediocre (halibut definitely not fresh, shrimp overcooked) and not served piping hot. I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend and won’t be back myself.

I was at this restaurant a few weeks ago for a bachelorette party. We were sitting outside waiting for the restaurant to open while the servers were setting tables outside, there was a storm coming through and it got windy. A napkin flew off a table behind my table and I went to go pick it up, the railing behind the table was not attached to the wall and when I picked up the napkin, the railing fell and pulled me down with it. My head ran right into the wall and I fell on my left side. NO ONE IN YOUR ESTABLISHMENT checked on me or asked if I was ok. Not even one server, when there were several outside staring at me. The service was poor, we were judged because we were in a big group and the servers talked behind our backs. We didn’t have proper plating, and the server didn’t care to change it out. Food was ok. After my experience at this restaurant, my ankle was swollen for 2 weeks, bruised hip and concussion. I am just NOW fully recovering. I would never go to this restaurant again. They are careless, and don’t care about their customers.

I only go to Kalanis during the slower seasons, but am never disappointed. We usually go for Happy Hour. The servers are always nice and the kitchen is willing to modify the items on the menu to serve our tastes. This was our favorite stop in South Lake Tahoe. The service was excellent even though the servers were busy. The seafood was nicely prepared and we enjoyed the ribs appetizers. Some items were overcooked like the shrimp and chicken but the scallops were cooked perfectly. We also tried the lilikoi caesar salad which was nice but we were expecting something a little different than your average caesar salad. Couldnt taste the passionfruit as much as Id like. Desserts were just ok. Would definitely try some other items there if we are in the area again.

Disappointed. We had reservations and they put our family of four at a table in the far corner against a wall and the kitchen door where the staff barely had room behind us to enter and exit. I ordered the rack of lamb which was suggested by the waitress. I would not recommend it. It was not good despite being one of the more expensive items on the menu at $47. I only ate 1 of the 3 pieces of lamb that sat on a very mediocre scoop of sweet potatoes. The other two went uneaten and I’ll eat just about anything. Brussel Sprouts were good. Food looked pretty but tasted terrible. My medium rare filet was tough and my husbands 12oz ribeye was 8oz of fat. They never came to ask us how our steak was and the rest of the food wasn’t that great. The string beans had no flavor. I enjoyed my sons chicken tenders the most. 😳

I was pleasantly surprised for a Hawaiian restaurant in South Lake Tahoe. I would definitely go back the next time Im there. We had ordered the crispy pork belly and it was cooked perfectly, a light crunch on the skin and the meat was tender. Also ordered the ribeye and it was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and was very tasty. The miso sea bass was very good as well and cooked perfectly as well. Would definitely recommend trying the place out.

While the food tasted good, portions were very small and the quality of the food and atmosphere did not in an way reflect the prices. For 4 small slices of a basic quesadilla, it was $11. We had 5 people there and our bill was over $120 before tipping.

We had the most horrible experience and honestly feel humiliated by both hosts Diana and Jenny I think thats their name. I try to have lunch here show up at 11 and one of those girls said in a bad attitude there Is no table until dinner at 4 I was like ok must be super busy. Then show up a 4:30 for dinner. Both host are like we have this table but we need the full party here, mom was in bathroom and told her she will be here in a minute. Then other party show and they were also missing people from their party. Then one of this mean host show with attitude and pointing fingers who ever arrive first get the table, she walk away laughing and then both start laughing like it was a game. Finally we decide to go to a different restaurant. We are in a point where people feel grateful to have a job and the enjoy working. If you dont like your job quit no need to ruin peoples day.

Pretentious! We came during a non peak hour. The hostess made us wait 15 -20 min before seating even though the place was packed less than 50%. When she did seat us, of all the empty tables available she seated us right next to the restroom. Needless to say, it was a high traffic area, lots of noise and just uncomfortable. We moved ourselves after waiting another 10-15 min for someone to attend the table. After all this when the food finally did come, it was mediocre at best. For the price, the service and attitude of staff leaves much to be desired. Despite how close this is to all the locations, I shall skip it.

Great food, excellent service. Try their seabass, probably one of the best dishes there. They also have great albacore tuna salad, and their rainbow rolls is also a favorite. The atmosphere on their patio is entertaining while also private.

ExtraordinaryI can see why it is fully booked all the time because the food is amazing. Kids menu is very good and affordable with $10 for any dish and it tasted magnificent. Sushi is top of the rang, now the prices of the sushi 🍣 is a little bit expensive but is totally worth it

This place is AWESOME!! They could add a little more to the menu but other than that the food was really good. The dining atmosphere was great. The appetizer sampler was unreal and my tomahawk chop was superb. To make a place this good, the owner mustve grew up in Hawaii Kai. Hawaii Kai peeps make the best. Haha. We found this place on yelp and were astounded by how amazing it was. Our server was fantastic and gave us many suggestions and was just an all around fabulous woman. The chef was having a baby that night but still waved at us on his way out. Pricey and worth every penny. Cant wait to go back and take more people. Fusion Hawaiian Asian.

Spent $125 for 2 adults. Ordered filet mignon, sea bass and crab cakes. The beef was charred on one side not just seared but carcoal charred. The crab cakes were soggy and tasted like tuna. The sea bass was ok, not great, but ok. The sea bass portions were small. The food came to the table room temperature. That night, my wife felt sick after the dinner. The service was good. Overall, Not worth the money we spent.

I came into the restaurant on a very busy Wednesday. I sat at the bar expecting to receive slow service, however, it was quite the opposite. The beautiful redhead bartender served a proper MaiTai while executing numerous drinks for the tables. The barback upsold me a dessert and I was grateful. The bartender recommended the Bread Pudding and it was amaaaazing. I had an Ahi flat bread and a Kalani roll and they both looked and tasted amazing. A group of 16 had dinner and asked for separate checks for each couple. The waiter added 18% to the bill and didnt say a word. We did our normal 20% tip on top of that. The others in our group did the same. Wouldnt be so bad but the food was barely acceptable and WAY overpriced. Go to Fire & Ice around the corner and skip Kalanis. Youll have a better chance at fair treatment in the casinos.

Food was great, but what set Kulanis apart is the service and the small crowds compared to other places we tried for brunch nearby. Its a great option with no wait lines, while nearby restaurants had 2 hr wait lines, and the food is equally as good if not better.

The food is pretty bad overall. My gfs rib-eye was so salty that it was barely edible. My dish (i forgot the name, it was some fish dip-fried in a nut cover) was ok, but was served with a very sweet sauce which totally destroyed the taste. With some effort of dodging the sauce, it became more edible. Definitely not recommend it, its just too expensive for the quality.
