2023-08-16 07:28:48Ordered tempura udon, kitsune udon, chicken karaage, chawanmushi and beef teriyaki. Their foods were good and their beef teriyaki was very hard to chew.

2023-07-29 17:06:04This was our first time trying this place. We initially planned on going to the Ramen Joint but their electricity went out. We drove around and found this one. First time trying Ramen and I wasnt disappointed at all.

2021-11-12 05:07:09An incredible sushi experience!!! I must mention that I eat sushi frequently and try to explore new sushi restaurants everywhere I travel to, so I’ve had a good share of sushi pretty much all over the world including Japan, but what these guys make in this small restaurant with a very simple decor is amazing!!! Everything that our server Peter (I hope I recall the name correctly) recommended was off the charts and I loved the presentation and the story of every dish! I cannot wait to go back to LA and definitely visit this place again! I highly recommend it!!

2022-12-25 16:20:36I had the sashimi selection, and the tuna sushi selection. It was incredible. The flavours with the soy and toppings were artfully perfect. Tried the baked shitaki mushroom and even that was delicious. Its not cheap but the quality is exceptional.

2023-07-30 15:59:18There are way better options for sushi at thisprice point. The young waiter was terrible, uninterested and not wanting to help with anything on the menu, just an overall bad attitude. We ordered 5 rolls all were pretty average or below average but they charge like it’s the hottest restaurant around. No way I’d ever go back

2020-02-12 21:40:14Not only a local favorite, but the best Sushi restaurant in the area. Famous for their Ramen that you can only get past 10PM, and you can’t take the leftovers home. This is the original Kanpai. The second Kanpai on Jefferson opened a couple years ago. They serve ramen all day, but it’s just not the same. The sushi chefs are classically trained. The waitresses and waiters have been serving at this location for a long time. If it’s dinnertime on the weekends, it’s best to make a reservation. The restaurant is small, seating about 10 at the sushi bar, and around 25 at the tables. They have daily specials - always ask for their opinions. Most of the best tasting dishes have come from being curious and open to suggestions. My favorite is their Ikura- salmon eggs that are served in a sauce spoon.Nice selection of private reserve sakes available. Street parking out front is best. The parking lot that sometimes charges is often full.

2018-11-21 04:12:33Very popular, large menu, from sashimi, sushi, tempura to ramen. The sushi were pretty good, especially the Santa Barbara uni, but 10 pieces for $65 was quite expensive. The tempura and salads were good, a bit more American styled though. Service was very good!

2023-08-24 23:32:30The waiter hardly did anything and after the meal asked my group why the tip was only 5%.... for overly expensive food and poor service, what kind of tip do they expect. The guys in my group were overly nice and tipped a bunch after feeling confronted and pressured. I mean... why pay even more when the guy hardly even met the basic needs of our group.. It was very weird that they came to question our tip amount. Very rude. You guys already made enough money from us.It was also upsetting that I was offered a refill, but I had no idea it would be 5 dollars per glass... of ice tea... I ordered a specialty roll for 25 dollars, and I was still hungry afterward. This place is ridiculously expensive, so choose wisely what you get, or you will pay 40 bucks for an unfulfilling meal like I did. I felt rushed to make a decision without any helpful suggestions or a second to ask a question. Its like the server didnt have time to make sure I was informed on anything. Also, I was not greeted either.
