Friday night dinner out!! 🥰 A great location for an early start to the night... Ramen made-to-order, along with some appetizer options and rice sides. The staff was friendly and the service was great!Tonights selection included 2 orders of their gyoza for appetizers - they were Bomb!! 🧨And for our mains....A ramen bowl with chicken broth & pork 🍜 A miso ramen with pork and extra egg 🥚 and black garlic ramen with chicken 🍲!!🥢 Paired with a #calpico to drink, it was a great way to start the weekend!

Ok so this is a tough one. The food, service, ambiance were amazing. The chicken broth was mouth watering and succulent. Definitely everything about the place screams authentic. Id say second best ramen spot in the OC. Would definitely recommend

The gyoza was great. I like how they were flat, making the sides crunchy. I dont usually get chicken broth but actually I really liked it. It makes the broth a little lighter than the pork which feels a little less fatty. The takoyaki was also on point. I can see why people like this place. The flavors make it unique. Yum.

Great ramen joint in OC. Honestly probably the only one I frequent because they do interesting special ramen pretty regularly like todays mentaiko mazemen! Highly recommend this place. Their regular ramen and mazemen are delish too. Probably been here at least 10 times.

Love love love!!!! Great casual atmosphere with authentic taste!!!! The servers are great and very attentive. And the REASON WE LOVE RAMEN: the Tonkotsu Broth here is stewed for 16hrs and the taste is beautifully creamy with a rich pork flavor. The umami is phenomenal, not just in the noodles, but the sides were amazing as well. Who else gives an overflowing basket-full of karage? Kashiwa Ramen THATS WHO!!! By far the best ramen I have had all over town. Chef knows what he is doing.. and you definitely want to try it!!! 😋

So I saw @goramen post this place on Instagram and was in Huntington Beach, so decided to take a quick detour and hit this spot. Small shop - felt a lot like being in Japan, especially since I sat at the counter. I hear the Tonkotsu might not even be the best broth here, but I generally go with that to get an idea of a spot. Have to say this was probably a Top 5 spot in SoCal for me. Excellent noodle texture - only thing I could nitpick is that the egg was a bit too done for my liking, and they were all out of Asahi and had to settle for Sapporo. 5 stars, for sure.

Overall great first experience here. Love the high customizability by picking your flavor, broth, noodle, tenderness, and extras that makes you feel like youre getting your own unique ramen bowl.I chose the Tonkotsu Spicy black with 3 (highest) level spicy with firm tender wavy noodles. The flavor was rich with delicious and tender pork. It was a little less spicy than I was expecting for 3 out of 3, but I was still happy with the overall bowl and would get it again and again.As an appetizer we also got the chicken karaage which was plump and juicy with large pieces of fried chicken. The fried batter was light and delicate.Overall well worth the price and definitely recommend!

Mmm, mmm, mmm. Theres a lot of choices for ramen around Orange County, and many have them have been underwhelming. But, Kashiwa is an exception. Its small, unassuming and rather simple in menu. But, the pricing, flavors and service makes this a new favorite of mine.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. The prices, taste, and service are amazing. The ramen is sooo good. The chicken and takoyaki are amazing. Note that the takoyaki is LA style with a crispy outside (which I prefer). The happy hour deal is amazing. Do note that they say the ramen spicy levels are very spicy, but they aren’t crazy spicy. The max spicy level is not bad at all.

Great place for ramen, you get to customize them to your liking. They even have the brothless ramen, mazemen. Surprisingly, really good. The portion size on the mazemen is great. Only complaint is the regular ramen portion is a bit small.

This was some of the best ramen I’ve ever had, and I loved ramen in Japan. They really nailed it. The broth is perfect and the noodles are too. The pork, egg and other toppings are all on point and the ramen as a whole is well-balanced. The restaurant space has a cool vibe and decorations too. The servers were all kind, helpful and responsive. They do allow kids, but when I was there the music was hip hop and rap with no filter. I didn’t mind, so I’m not sure if they would have been open to changing it if someone requested. Overall I loved this place and will definitely come back every time I’m in the area.

Hands down some of the best Ramen Ive ever had, if not the best...and I am a Ramen junkie. Best aspect of this small place is your Ramen can be completely customizable, from the broth base, flavors added to the Broth, Noodle style & hardness level, spice level, protein, toppings, etc. I ordered the Spicy Black Garlic Tonkotsu w/ medium cooked wavy noodles. So Freakin savory & delicious. I happened to be working in the area & hope to be back soon. Shoot, this is the kind of place Ill drive out of my way to come back to but next time bring others to enjoy it with me.

The fried Chicken and the miso ramen are fantastic. The restaurant is owned by the Japanese. The only setback is the speed of delivery of the food. They forgot our gyoza and gave it to us after we finished all the meal.

I’d recommend it. It may be the case that Kashiwa specializes in a chicken ramen, not a Tonkotsu. However, my heart is loyal to Tonkotsu and that is what I’m here for. I think the overall bowl was pretty good. The broth has a medium comforting richness, with a unique flavor accent. It isn’t rich enough to make you feel like you need to be wheeled out of the restaurant, but still rich enough to confidently know you are eating a Tonkotsu ramen. The noodles are really nothing special, being common factory noodles. However, combined with the broth, they just seemed to work really well in such a way to enhance the experience that either on their own couldn’t provide. The chashu has a satisfying savory sweet flavor, that is less intense than a full on flavor bomb. However it does have hints of dry texture and corresponding flavor in the meaty parts. I didn’t like the lingering taste of mirin in the egg, and the toppings were minimalistic and complementary.I do think the extensive menu is an interesting choice. Not only do they have chicken, Tonkotsu, and vegan ramens, they also offer tsukemen and apparently also a matcha tsukemen. Uhhhhhhh. Also, they have a poster on the wall for CBD ramen. Uhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Very nice staff. The girls that wait the tables are very sweet, patient, and helpful. From the first time we visited, to the times we returned bringing our friends, they are so pleasant. Even moreso every time. It was the first ramen restaurant I ever tried (being a fitness professional, it didnt fit my regimen) but those girls made SURE that I got exactly what I wanted, nothing I didnt or couldnt have, and its been incredible every time. The only problem now is.... Im spoiled and can never go to any other ramen place! I tried... Devastating! This place is the best!

I got the Tsukemen dipping ramen. Bamboo was tough and undercooked, egg was unflavored and overcooked (plain hard-boiled egg), and the limes were under ripe. Noodle and broth were great though! I got the pork and it comes in thin slices (4). The service was great and the food came out quickly. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable with many decorations.

The staff was incredibly friendly and took the time to provide detailed responses to our questions. We ordered curry tsukemen with cold noodles and a customized ramen. We particularly appreciated the step-by-step ordering page/menu, as it allowed our kids to choose their preferred noodles, proteins, and toppings, making the experience engaging for them.Unfortunately, our dining experience took a downturn when the owner paid a visit to the table next to ours. While engaging with the customers at that table, he inadvertently bumped into our table multiple times, causing our ramen and tsukemen soups to spill. I had to firmly grip the table each time he passed by to prevent any further disruption. Even after the staff noticed and warned him, it didnt stop. While I understand that it was unintentional, it would have been more considerate if he had taken greater care after being alerted to the problem.Despite this disruption, I must say that the curry tsukemen was outstanding, and the ramen my kids ordered was packed with flavor. However, we did feel rushed to finish our dishes due to the distraction, which impacted negatively dining experience.I would definitely return for the curry tsukemen, but next time, I might opt for a to-go order to avoid any similar disruptions.

I came here because of the high rating after nearby work. I was intrigued by the ramen since I have seen a lot of ramen shops on TV.I ordered a Ramen bowl as shown on my order sheet. I got the spicy miso soup base with the mixed chicken and pork soup. The bowl was very hot to the touch. The ramen liquid tasted fantastic, but was lots spicier than I was prepared for (but I got used to it). The meat was cut very thin. At first, I thought there wasnt enough meat but I decided to just accept the experience since I never ate ramen before. In the end I was satisfied with how big the meal was and didnt miss the extra meat. I noticed that many customers ordered extra meat on the side. Maybe next time...There were some woody parts in the food that I didnt like. I didnt get charged for my extra item I ordered in the bowl so maybe that was what I didnt like and they just took it off the bill. I paid with a good tip in case there was an error on the final bill.Would I go back? Sure. I might not choose the only spicy base next time and maybe would choose extra meat (or maybe not).I didnt like the music, left a suggestion of Japanese jazz rather than the hip hop or whatever they were playing that felt like it was there for the cooks but not for the diners.

I got the Takoyaki and spicy black garlic ramen with half chicken and half pork broth. It was fire🔥🔥❗️❗️the broth was very rich and spicy (I got level 2 spicy). The Takoyaki was a bit crunchy on the outside and very soft inside along with the sauce. Although the ramen came out first and then the Takoyaki which was a bit strange but I’m not complaining, everything was amazing! Will come back!

Have you ever see the finish line ahead but you just cant reach it? That was us when we order 2 ramens and a karaage for 2 because their portion is HUGEEE for both its price and our stomach.Their chicken ramen is unique that I havent tasted anywhere else. I really love this place and their Ramen! Their Ramen is REAL! They boil chicken at the store by themselves for 16 hours. The soup is really good. I especially love Chicken paitan soup, chicken meat and straight noodles. After you eat, you can take soup home and use microwave with that soup and a raw egg which you mix. You can customize soup, noodles, proteins, and the toppings everything at the store! I love the dumplings and fried chicken(Karaage) too. Very Juicy. I think this ramen store is the #1 in LA and OC.

Went in the mid afternoon and it was still a full house. We tried 3 different types, spicy black garlic, spicy ramen and miso. All had really good flavor and the noodles were cooked to just the right chewiness. We chose spicy level 2 which gave it just a little more kick but not numbing level spicy. The only thing I thought was off is that the egg seemed really small, like it was a medium instead of large egg.

In my mind, this is a top notch Ramen place with some really great options. The noodles are always done perfectly and the broth is fantastic. Its easy to make a few tasty modifications here and they have plenty of options to choose from. However, the menu is extremely confusing and it presents a problem for those who are relatively new here. The menu needs to be rewritten. I hope they do so soon because it makes the ordering process unnecessarily cumbersome. However, if you are looking for a really tasty ramen in Costa Mesa this is one of my number 1 go to spots! Oh wow! I am impressed. We ordered Takeout (ok, I admit i did🙈) it was the Tonkotsu Ramen (advertised as: Same recipe from Hide-Chan Ramen from NYC. 9 years in Michelin Guide Book NYC) and it was soo good. It had the best flavor of all the Ramen i tried before. It was really really really good. I wish the Porkbelly wouldve been freshly fried but oh well.The flavor was unbelievable tame but also really deep. It was just like sitting at grandmas house, when it freshly snowed. having red cheeks, and cold hands, eating a bowl of chicken noodle soup.I can only recommend this to anyone!The Gyoza were good too. I also ordered the Pork Box and somehow the meat tasted like tangy Miso or a pork Sauerbraten. I did not like the flavor after the beautiful Ramen.I made it taste better by adding the rest of the soup to the box.Overall really excited to come back!

Really enjoyed the ramen here. The broth is rich and full bodied if you ordered the pork broth. There are other options like chicken broth and maybe vegetable don’t recall. The orders are taken on separate little sheets and you can customize to your hearts desire. Prices are reasonable and service is great.

It was my second time coming here. I ordered something different from before to try something out. Nothing on their part I just was not a big fan of the dish I ordered it just was not my flavor profile but it was executed perfectly and Im sure someone who knew the dish would of loved it. The owner saw my hesitation and was super understanding and even gave me a free ramen (that I knew I liked) to take home. I felt so bad but he insisted I took it home. Everything about this place - service, cleanliness, etc. - was great, except for the ramen itself. This place has never been busy when I go. I ordered the spicy black garlic ramen level 2. The appetizers have always been decent (I usually get takoyaki or chicken kaarage). They put too much oil, the black garlic was too abundant it made me cough for a good 3 minutes. It was not spicy in the slightest and the broth flavor profile was one dimensional. Nothing special.

Nothing to write home about, portions was relatively small compared to other ramen restaurants in the area. Really couldnt taste the kombu in my soup, and the chashu that I got was not charred and still painfully white. Ordered soft noodles but got hard noodles, kinda ruined the whole experience. Noodles simply did not taste good, and as someone mentioned below, flavor was one dimensional.Positive: beer was cold, service was quick, dining area clean.Not worth it to go back ever again

Reasonable prices and moderately sized menu. But true authentic ramen from home. Having worked as sous chef at a ramen shop, i can taste the difference. 90% of places in California are frauds. I consider ramen a delicacy and hate to see others infringing, but this place DOES IT RIGHT. From soup to noodles, and other items on the menu, everything is good. If you crave ramen, eat here. If you want a soup with good flavor to drink order lite soup. I highly recommend this place to all.

Excellent ramen! I dont know a lot about ramen, but I know what I like. One of few places that has chicken ramen. They, thankfully, dont give you a mixing bowl sized serving, but a normal, filling serving. Tasted wonderful, and the staff were friendly and busy. There are plenty of dishes I want to try here, so well definitely be back.

My first visit today, and it was so so SOOOO lovely! For someone like me who came from an area with restaurants that made me believe ramen is bad, this is absolutely bomb! I went to eat there with four people, two Japanese friends and an American friend. It didnt taste good at all to the Japanese, including me. The service was poor and we didnt like the taste or temperature of the soup at all. Its too risky to choose a restaurant just based on the score.

This is my favorite Ramen shop in the LA/OC area. The soup base is very amazing and you get to choose different kinds of soup. Same goes for the noodles kind. The toppings are phenomenal. In addition to the awesomeness of the Ramen kinds, they have one of the best Karage chicken side dishes you can try in all of LA/OC. It is the perfect combination with a nice cold beer! I recommend this place to any and I give them 2 thumbs up and 5 stars!!!

So good! I got the Lvl 1 spicy ramen with chicken, the chicken was tender and juicy. It came with a flavored egg, which was delicious, and the broth has perfect umami flavor. Would definitely buy from here again and recommend to anyone who wants to try.

Went on a ruse cruise ordering from here:My partner and I ordered two bowls of ramen from here to-go. I got the Black Garlic ramen. Upon arriving a gentleman behind the counter just stares at us as we entered the restaurant and after a bit of an awkward staring match, the woman working the front comes to help us out. When we returned home to eat I noticed there was this ominous black layer at the top of my broth that looked quite similar to burned food or the char that you find at the bottom of your pan after burning something. Took a slurp of broth to find what tasted like pieces of charcoal in my food. After closer inspection, I noticed a large burned blob of something (looked like actual charcoal). Outside of the weird, burned, sandy texture of my broth, it just tasted like pure cooking oil.Turned off to the taste and texture, I called the shop to let them know and see if maybe I could drive back and swap it out for a different broth but was not met with that level of hospitality. The woman who picked up the phone sounded like she was either in a rush or just wanted to be curt. After explaining my problem with the broth, she transferred me to the chef who clearly sounded like he didnt want to take my feedback and at no point offered to make the situation better.Apparently, they burn the black garlic before adding it to the broth. This would have been fantastic news to have known in advance or include on your menu. After telling the chef my problem there was a long pause, he thanked me for the feedback then asked if he could help me with anything else before hanging up. Since the broth was inedible and contained a truly odd texture that Ive never experienced in ramen broth before, I ended up having to purchase broth from another (and much better) ramen shop so I could fuse that with the other ingredients I received from Kashiwa to have an edible dinner.Once again, thank you to the staff for providing zero assistance and not listing this anywhere on your menu. The ramen market in O.C. is saturated with infinitely better choices, sorry guys.

I’ve been wanting a bowl of ramen and was doing some shopping when I saw this place on my way out of the parking lot. Pulled in for lunch, place was packed for a hot day at noon. Got the last table, ordered spicy tonkatsu lvl.2, xtra noodle. Was not disappointed. It was so good I wanted more. Not too spicy, just right. Cant wait to go back.

Ive been coming every Friday since my first visit here. Since they make both chicken and pork bones, you can enjoy a soup called swirl, which is a mixture of chicken and pork bones. Curly noodles are my favorite. The noodles tangle with the soup and go down your throat. A taste that will definitely make you want to come back. The fried chicken is as crispy as any fried chicken restaurant. For first-time visitors, we recommend the regular ramen. But no matter what you eat, its really delicious. Every time I go, I have trouble deciding what to do. The tsukemen is also creative, such as adding lime after eating half of it. Above all, the atmosphere inside the store is great. The manager is kind and always greets you. Cozy. One of the reasons I want to come back is the managers excellent customer service, which is as good as the taste. I dont want to live far from here because this is the only store I can find. I wish there was a chain store.

I dont usually write reviews, but Im writing one for this restaurant. I love the ramen here. However, the attitude of the female Asian customer service staff was too bad. It was extremely unpleasant. . I think it was a busy time, but the menus were placed in different numbers for the number of people, and there were no smiling faces. He lazily took orders, and while other customers were eating, he moved the desks and chairs around, making a lot of noise, and was cleaning and wiping. Think about it for a moment. . As much as I thinkEven before I ate the ramen, I felt uncomfortable and lost my appetite.There was enough momentum to make TIP $0 as well. .The saving grace was that the ramen was extremely delicious, and I felt a little better after eating it, so I paid the TIP as usual. However, I felt that just one aspect of customer service could drastically change the impression of a store. I sincerely hope that customer service will improve in the future. .

Chicken-based soup. This is rich and clings to the thin noodles, making it delicious. You can also enjoy a soup called swirl, which is a mixture of chicken and pork bones. I think chicken-based ramen is rare around here. You can choose pork or chicken for the char siu meat, but chicken char siu is rare and has a nice, light flavor. They also offer vegan ramen.
