2023-07-18 21:30:30Really nicely designed and inviting (mostly outside) restaurant space. Service is good and staff professional and smartly dressed. Very lush and green with great lighting for nighttime. While we found the food good, it was not great. Also the food was not presented or platted with much care, given the prices this really shouldnt be the case. I would suggest this as a place for a drink but not for the food.

2023-09-09 17:36:11Nice atmosphere and giving Tulum vibes. Food is not the best but won’t be disappointing either. However, considering the price, this will not be a place I’d recommend for a legit meal. Grabbing a drink and have some snacks while hanging out with friends would be nice.

2023-07-01 01:01:07Took my nephew for his 19th birthday and it was such a great atmosphere and the food was amazing! And I love the fact that they gave him dessert for his birthday as well. I would definitely visit again the only thing is a parking sucks I think $30 to park in a lot.

2023-09-09 17:51:13It’s like being transported to Tulum so you are definitely feeling the vacation vibes but just in the middle of Hollywood. The entire restaurant is outdoors nestled within between a couple buildings. The service was impeccable and the food was top notch. Had the potato taquitos, campechana ceviche, camarones ala Diablo and the short rib. The flavors from every dish were 5 star and the presentation elevated each dish.We even enjoyed a cocktail or two and watched a beautiful fire dancer entertain the guests.

2023-09-26 01:19:09The bar had already closed but they were nice enough to seat me there for a near closing time dinner. Hamachi ceviche was nicely presented and had nice ingredients but I found it a bit salty. The tamal with mole sauce was good. Interesting cocktails, Mexican wines and great vibe.

2023-12-05 18:47:17Wonderful atmosphere and attentive service. Went there for Brunch recently and we had the Queso Fundido, Papas Bravas, etc. The Flan Brulee Pancakes were the best pancakes Ive ever had in my life.

2023-04-14 00:14:41This was a great place to eat. The place has outdoor seating and smelled wonderful because they were burning sage. They served things family style. I ate with friends who were vegetarian and we split several delicious options

2023-10-05 18:37:55A snooty welcome. Our server was polite and incredibly efficient, which given how busy the restaurant was, it wasn’t until later on when the rush subsided he became a lot more friendly and welcoming. He had a job to do and he performed flawlessly. He also gave his recommendations which were appreciated. We had the Pescado Zarandeado which was beautiful, flavourful, and masterfully prepared. It was also sufficient for two of us to share as our main meal. Preceding this we had the queso quesadilla (vegetarian with an egg) - again, this was tasty and a right treat. In hindsight, for two people, we could have done without either the guac + chips or the esquite (a corn salad) and we would have been satiated.Decor was great, though I sat on the concrete bench at the back and it wasn’t particularly comfortable.Nor was the surprise of finding a 5% surcharge particularly comfortable the next day. There was no explanation of this. It was just added without consultation. A quick google review showed it’s a charge for them to offer their staff benefits. My opinion is they either bake it into their costs or explain it and give people the option to opt in or out. But to add it without discussion, feels rude and disrespectful to patrons. As a result, added to the 20% tip, if it wasn’t for the exceptional fish dish, this expensive experience could have been utterly distasteful.

2022-08-27 03:37:36I give this place a 4.5!Pros: the atmosphere is amazing!!! It really does feel like you’re in Tulum. There are so many beautiful potted plants, trees, the lighting is perfect, the service is great, they burn sage and other herbs periodically to add to the atmosphere and the food is so good!!Cons: no true cons. I would 100% go back! If I had to pick something though, the potatoes were not what we were expecting based off of the pictures in the yelp reviews and it lacked a little flavor but everything else was great!

2023-04-24 04:15:04We reserved a table for 6pm for dinner on a Tuesday where it wasn’t extremely busy at the time but got busier during the next hour. The host was very welcoming, and very attentive. He recommended how many dishes would be enough for 2 people.STARTERS- 1/2 DOZEN OYSTERSJalapeno Mignonette, Cocktail Sauce. The oysters were smaller than I usually have but they were fresh and good as a starter.- TACOS FRITOSPrawns, Yukon Gold Potatoes, Marisco Salsa, Avocado. This was delicious where the flavours mixed well.MAINS:-COCHINITA PIBILHeritage Pork, Banana Leaf, Achiote, Bitter Orange- LAMB SHARK BARBACOABraised Lamb Shank, Pickled Carrots, Pickled Pearl OnionsThese both came with taco wrappings and it was bit too much for two of us as we already had a starter each. However flavours were amazing! The lamb shank and the pork was so tender! So delicious! Would say pork was the best out of the two.SIDE: PAPAS BRAVASFingerling Potatoes, Umeboshi Aioli, Chives - seasoned well but was way too much so could have done without the potatoes!TOTAL PRICE: approx $260 (including tip)OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 5 out of 5 as host was amazing, interior decor was lovely even though it is outside they have heaters to keep you warm but do remember to bring a jacket unless you are getting drunk on cocktails.Food was delicious which complimented the ambience of the place. Would definitely recommend this place if you’re visiting LA as it has a fusion Mexican feel. Would say it is reasonable price if you can afford to go! Thank you again Ka’teen for a great experience!
