2023-11-05 17:05:46Great, service. The bartender, Nick, was warm & welcoming. We were serviced at the bar since it was late, but the entire menu was available to order from & Nick made the dining experience wonderful. Im definitely going back for more. The ambiance was nice, and music was fitting to my chilaxing mood.

2023-07-22 18:10:33Honest opinion here. The food is overpriced for quality and taste, but the atomosphere and drinks were pretty dope. The presentation was great. But it doesnt make up for the taste or lack thereof for the food. Had several sushi plates and tostada appetizers (imo they put you in the mind of taco bells gordita crunch) 🤷🏽♀️. Greeted at the door, definitely didnt have to wait for a table, and the bartender was A1! I had his signature Old Fashioned and it was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed the Unagi and the gold flakeThe service was very friendly and attentive. Music Selections was 90s RnB, so that was a huge plus. I

2023-07-30 23:57:00Here for a friend birthday. I saw a Tik Tok showing that the decorations are very unique but when I got there it was kind of disappointed. We got a table by the bar. Didn’t get to see any decor. The food are very pricy. The only good thing is the bar tender made good old fashioned. Not gonna come back for a $350+ sitting next to a bar meal facing a black wall while other get to sit inside and the are tons of table available.

2023-06-22 15:24:33I heard this was a great spot and decided to check it out. It’s definitely a sushi restaurant that I highly recommend. We started off with the Edamame garlic spicy, dozen Fresh Oysters 10 Kumamoto, the Salmon blue crab roll, Wagyu handroll & Baked salmon roll. For dessert we got the Hokkaido Milk Bread Puddin with a side of ice cream. The edamame was a solid starter and the oysters were delicious. The salmon blue crab roll was quality and I’d order that again and the wagyu was good but wasn’t spectacular. The seared baked Salmon roll was a phenomenal entree and the dessert was really delicious. It’s a pretty expensive spot but it was worth it. The decor was very dark with a speakeasy vibe. The dancing fire girl was a great touch & it’s a solid spot for a date. I’d definitely come back again to try their other menu items.

2023-12-03 04:14:40Food was okay. Overpriced but I guess we are also paying for the fancy interior. We ordered drinks, appetizers and entries. The two entrees were served before appetizers and thirty minutes after we sat down, we finally got our drinks. Oh by the way, they charged $7 for tap water !!! Unbelievable !!!

2023-06-12 16:14:02This was one of, if not the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. From being sat in a pitch black room by ourselves for 13 minutes before we were offered drinks. Or, serving us spoiled fish in 3 separate dishes (2/3 dishes pictured). Being out of almost every dish we tried to order. The duck breast with unrendered fat and gristle (pic included )Then after another customer comes in, the kitchen didn’t want to cook so our waiter literally walked up and said we’re done cooking for the night. Make last call. Or what about just straight up forgetting to cook half of our tables food. Then when we finally had enough and asked for our check and to just leave, no manger, no explanation, no apology nothing. Just give us 400$ for absolutely terrible food and service. This was terrible. I was a chef for 20 years and would be abhorred if I worked for a place like this.

2023-01-12 19:32:31This is your sign to stop going to the predictable fancy restaurants around la and book a table at KAVIAR! Their upscale unique ambiance is unmatched from the low light atmosphere, to the swanky art pieces and decor that line the interior. Everything about curating a vibe is here. The food was amazing! My favorite dish was the al pastor sea bass and the spicy tuna crispy rice. Our server Kyle was very informative on the menu and able to recommend items to fit my parties taste pallets and he did not disappoint. Had an amazing experience and cannot wait to return!

2023-05-10 06:39:01Overall: 3.6/5 (dine in)Kaviar looks pretty upscale so we decided to dine here for my friends birthday. It was pretty difficult to make a reservation here since the email Yelp provided was different from their website. I emailed both email addresses and didnt receive any response after waiting a week. It was getting closer to my friends birthday so I decided to just make a reservation through Yelp just in case. A few days later, I called Kaviar to make a reservation through the Yelp event. Never got any confirmation that my other reservations went through so I was nervous when we came on the day of. Luckily everything worked out. They had my name down for the Yelp event, & we were seated right away. It was kind of strange that they sat our party of 4 at a table with 6 chairs so the spacing between us was a bit off.The ambiance was very dark and moody, especially if you sit near the samurai armor display. They had this fire lady that literally just posed with fire sticks and do a bit of contemporary dancing in different outfits around the tables. It reminded me of Toca Modera, but in a less entertaining way.The service was really great though. Our male waiters were attentive & kind. They even brought out a complimentary slice of cheesecake for my friends birthday!Kaviar Wagyu Tostada ($24): This was yummy & unique.Shiso Tempura With Uni 4 Pieces ($34): I think this usually comes in 3 pieces but we had 4 people so we asked if they could make 1 more. I usually dont like uni but this was really good. The shiso tempura was fried perfectly and paired well with the uni.Tuna Tartare ($39): They rolled out a cart and prepared this dish in front of us so that was cool. They served the toro tartare with some bread slice crackers. Unfortunately it did not taste good and I low key think I got a slight stomachache from it.Truffle Toro ($52): This was good but not worth the price tag.Chilean Sea Bass Al Pastor ($38): They highly recommended this dish so we had to try it. Unfortunately, nothing stood out. The sea bass wasnt as soft or melt-in-your mouth like I was expecting. It was just okay.Baked Salmon Roll ($24): They torched the roll at the table and was kind enough to let us know in case we wanted to film it. The roll was good & the flavors were well balanced.Uni Pasta ($39): This was not worth it & very disappointing. It was just a basic flavorless pasta dish with one uni as garnish. The pasta wasnt creamy like other uni noodle dishes you get at other Japanese restaurants.Kaviar Seafoam ($24): They recommended this drink if you want something sweet and fruity. Well it was not either. It was pretty sour from the lime. Even my husbands drink (Meiro Momo) was sweeter and its a bourbon based drink.Meiro Momo ($24): This was a peach cream bourbon so it was sweet and way better than the Kaviar Seafoam. Smooth too but the price is a bit steep.

2023-09-18 19:35:29This past weekend, I flew from out of state to plan and celebrate a birthday with someone I was meeting for the first time. Did some brainstorming for what I wanted, did some research, called a few places… During the first phone call, I knew Kaviar was it:1. VIBE:During the day, the outside of the restaurant is rather discreet; an appearance of warehouse, yet within walking distance from Urth Caffe. At night, the entrance to the foyer/bar is quite unsuspecting. We were led through a hallway and looking up, it felt like walking through a brightly lit tunnel before entering a large dining area. The décor and seating were arranged purposely, and in the forefront, three Japanese samurai armor are highlighted. The lighting created the perfect ambiance; enough for intimate privacy yet felt open and spacious.2. FOOD/DRINK:More detail to come on this below in #3. .....We had a prefixed menu, tailored to us:For drinks, we had Tiger’s blood and Champagne. Both wonderful, but the Tiger’s blood was unique. A slice of blood orange floats on top – try it as is first, but then take a bite of the orange before taking another sip. Such a delightful change between the two.Edamame - (Garlic): The garlic and blend of flavors is not overpowering. Very well done and such a complement to the edamame.White Fish Ceviche: The second dish, and in my opinion, our first experience with how fresh (like many other reviews have stated) the ingredients are. With this entrée as the second selection, I felt this was the aperitif of dishes.Toro Tartar (with a table side presentation): First time having Toro. Amazing. The walk through provided greater appreciation.Nigiri Selection: Amazed by this dish. Each nigiri was a different fish and had its own flavor profile, as in – it was not just eating “sushi” where the flavors of tuna or salmon blend into each other when eating one after the other. Enjoy each one separately – perhaps a sip of champagne in between.A5 Wagyu: By far my favorite! Very delicate, buttery, and cooked perfectly. The presentation was beautiful.Signature roll (Yellowtail Cilantro): With rolls, often times the flavor changes. The fish is experienced first, then the center, but as you have nearly swallowed, you experience the flavor in its entirety. The choice of textures with this roll helps to bring the flavors together quickly.Uni Pasta: Kaviar makes their own pasta – such a charming surprise! Cooked to an ideal al dente.Chillean Seabass: a dish carefully cooked to mimic Al Pastor, but nearly comes across as tender as sashimi.Dessert - Lime cheesecake, baklava, and ice cream.3. CUSTOMER SERVICE:THIS is where I am absolutely impressed, and what makes Kaviar so memorable. I initially spoke with Shane, the manager, to get the birthday plans sorted. The tailored experience - from knowing and understanding your audience to attention to detail - this is a standard that needs to be promoted and applauded. Often, the attention is given to the person of the event… but I felt just as important being on the backend. I felt like a celebrity/VIP even though the event was not for me. Flowers of my choice were presented to my birthday guest and his name was also written on the dessert. With the tableside presentation of the Toro Tartare, the waiters usually prepare the dish, but instead Shane personally prepared it in front of us. The live demonstration by him was an unexpected, but pleasant surprise; the time and care given to us was remarkable. As mentioned, the entire experience was tailored, which gives this place an extra edge. There isn’t a regurgitated script said for someone’s birthday, or a scoop of ice cream “everyone gets”…it’ll be unique, and you will feel special. I urge you to come here and promote this standard of customer care, attention to detail, quality of food, and professionalism.Bravo Kaviar… BRAVO!
