Absolutely wonderful dining here. Plenty of outdoor seating. We decided on an early dinner and good thing, the place got packed around 730. Friendly wait staff, delicious food and perfect weather for outdoor dining. Ordered 2 rolls, veg gyoza and stuffed japs. All were excellent. If I had one complaint - that Wasabi wasnt as hot as I would like it. Still 5 stars!

Such a fun spot! Highly recommend the miso soup! The phillidelpia and salmon skin cut rolls are super tasty as well! Well priced for La sushi without missing out on the quality! Super welcoming environment as well, We will definitely be back when the sushi craving hits!!

So... when you walk in to any Kaya sushi, you think of it as a disco sushi place.. with the neon lights and trendy music. But the sushi here is very good. Spicy tuna hand roll is impeccable, and I just went to Nobu last week.Everything is savory and delicious. Now, I hope they will update their drink menu. Soju martinis are a cucumber lemon, which was extremely strong (I had them send it back), and replaced with a soju apple martini. Apple martinis are cheap. They are like a too sweet, artificial jolly rancher in a glass. I hope they add Lychee or Ginger soju martinis to complement the meals.

I had to update my review after last nights experience. It feels like Kaya had an offnight, hopefully its not going downhill.The servers kept putting peoples food DOWN on the wrong table and then coming back, picking it up and putting it on another table. Sorry but if you drop food off at a table you DO NOT give it to another customer. This is basic food service 101.There were items apparently discontinued. If they arent updating menus perhaps crossing them out on the menu would suffice.Soup was served without spoons, who serves miso soup with chopsticks?Food quality was a bit off as well...Not sure whats going on but I pray that it was just a bad night for Kaya and this ISNT a trend because I love this place.-----------Nice place. Staff is friendly and the food is fresh and good.There are a lot of options for sushi and non sushi eaters alike.The ingredients are fresh and flavorful.Vegan and Veggie favorites are:Edamame, seaweed salad, Jap Che (noodle dish), Spicy Tofu Roll, and they have THEY BEST Avocado roll I have ever had (Ive eaten here for ten years?)My go tos are:Jimmys Roll which has seared steak on top, I get it with a side of jalepenosPopcorn Lobster roll.If you sit at the bar the chefs will usually make a little something special and free of charge like an appetizer.Parking is easy most of the time, they have underground parking as well. Friday and Saturday nights are the busiest.They have a nice vibe on the inside. great decorations, clean bathrooms and great music (feels kind of nigh clubish).The servers are always polite and friendly, I have never had a bad experience here, Ive probably eaten here 100+ times

I’ve been going here for a decade and it never disappoints. Great date-night and after-work-with-colleagues ambience. The sushi isn’t only for traditionalists; there is something here for everyone. Definitely try the Sunset appetiser (spicy tuna atop crispy rice with cilantro dipping sauce). It’s the stuff of dreams.

Perfect date night spot. Seating is private, nice ambiance and dimly lit. Expect to pay $40 per head without alcohol. Sushi is fresh and various Korean/Ramen dishes to choose from. Keto and vegan friendly options.

Oh, so, so fresh and delicious! Beautifully prepared and seasoned sushi, plus amazing appetizers. The pork belly was pretty good, and the dumplings are yummy! It is pretty pricey, but not overly, for the area. Plan on at least 100.00 for 2 people to eat moderately. Id go back, for sure!

I first came to this restaurant in November 2018. I came with a friend and wasn’t really excited about it because it was kind of far from where I lived. Once I tasted the food though, I was so happy I had! I couldn’t believe how delicious everything was!! It’s been open for 20 years—way longer than the majority of restaurants and very telling of how amazing the food is. On top of the food, it’s clean and they play great music!

Great food, friendly service but very slow. We had to ask multiple times for a drink, rice and hot tea. The waitress didnt acknowledge us for the first 10 minutes and in the end another server said it was because the staff was struggling with door dash and Postmates orders. The sashimi was fresh and good as was the chicken yakitori. The pork belly was too fatty but the other foods were great.

Have been going to Kaya for over 10 years and it is the best sushi I have ever had. Thank goodness it is off the beat and path otherwise you wold not be able to get a seat a the sushi bar that I love. the Fish is very fresh and the best of the catch. Try it and you will never go to another place in the Marine.

The food is great, but the waitress added a wine and edamame to my bill, hoping I will not notice, and bumping the sum 2x. Despicable. Smiling in my face while trying to what essentially is stealing money from me. Does management know what their staff is up to?

I was in the area for business found this place and trusted the reviews. i was not disappointed!! calm and nice decor location for deliciously prepared sushi rolls. the Panda Roll was amazing!! Great service, would recommend to anyone.

A party of 5, we had initially planned to go to a different place, but ended up here for dinner. It was a bit empty at first, but filled up.Ambiance:I like the water feature in the front, but found the lighting overall a bit too dark. The combination of a small font on the menu and the dim lighting makes it hard to read the menu. But once youre done ordering you get used to it.Food:We ordered vegetable tempura, birds nest (must have) and scallop dynamite as appetizers. Followed by Lily (low carb), yellowtail basil, Evettes, Dragon 2 and the Soomis spring roll (also must have). We ordered about 2 items at a time and then ordered more when those items arrived. It was a great pace for the meal. Everything was really good. With the menu being rather extensive, I would probably try some new things next time tho.Service:Our waitress was great. She had good recommendations and was accommodating for a food allergy.

I live in Bakersfield and was on a trip and decided to get some sushi here. Way over priced. 6 rolls for $22Not to mention it was terrible quality! I could get twice as much for less and 10x better quality.I feel bad if all the sushi places in LA are this bunk. Took way too long to get it as well. Plate looked messy. Just all around terrible.

Owners there seem nice but the employees dont care abour their customers. They just stare at you when you enter and you have to ask for a menu to eat. This is a typical attitude a lot of asians have and thats a shame. Obviously, they are not happy with themselves and dont want to be there working. On the lighter note, the food makes up for their deficiency in customer service.

Pros: fish tasted nice and freshCons: Service was really slow, not sure if they were short staffed or what that night. Also, they didnt bring sauce for our tempura.The nigiri combo comes with a shrimp tempura roll; I notified the server that I was allergic to shrimp so she subbed it with... crab. Typically if youre allergic to one, youre allergic to both. 🤦🏻‍♀️ So if you have allergies, be really, really specific here.

Kaya Sushi remains my favorite local Japanese restaurant, especially when hosting friends and/or relatives from out of town. Great atmosphere with running water glasswall, semi-intimate lighting, and delicious food, the only downside remains the frequent lines on almost every weekday and weekend from 8-10 PM. As a result, I tend to go for lunch because I often lack patience - even if the friendly staff bring drinks. As that old American TV commercial used to say, try it - youll like it.

I am very pleased that Kaya Sushi has set up outdoor dining so that we can once again enjoy their meals. I happened upon it on a neighborhood walk. I enjoyed their brewed green tea with my Dol Sot Bibimbop (stir fried kimchee, a fried egg, and beef in a sizzling rice bowl). My friend enjoyed Udon noodle soup with tempura on the side. I plan to return to enjoy their selections of sashimi, nigiri sushi, and special rolls. Parking? There is plenty still even though their patio has taken up several spaces.

Best asian food you can get for this price! Delicious food, very nice decor. Music could use some work, seems to be top hits of 2006... Still love this place and the pricing is a lot better than some fancier, overpriced restaurants with the same quality food.

Very rude host and very rude chef. Terrible customer service. Its in a tacky strip mall. Ill never eat at this s-hole. Obviously based on the owners response, one can see the owner is a snarky crone and thinks thats acceptable customer service, which it is not acceptable, which explains why their staff is so rude.

The best place in town to get sushi and rolls so far. We were personally attended for Mr. DaeKil Im (owner) we had the best service we could ask for. Sushi at this place is the best Ive tried by far. (Dont be amazed if you get to see Phil Jackson around, just dont bother asking him for an authograph, you will lose your time).

I always order food to go so I cant say much about the service. The nabayaki udon is my favorite. The soup is very hot and flavorful. I have also ordered various sushi and nigiri and the food is wonderful. If youre looking for Japanese cuisine in the area and dont mind paying a little extra then definitely try this restaurant.
