Well, as expected. Delicious! Not pretentious, large satisfying portions, fairly priced, (I would have paid more) $16. For the pork belly with crispy skin!! Enough for two to share. Just what Sebastopol needed! Oh and excellent service. If you havent eaten here yet, go now! Shoot I just made myself hungry writing this review. 😑
This place is extremely overhyped.We had a few small plates that were good portions but just ok. The reviews about the food timing are true. At one point we were wondering if our entree was even coming out. The table that came in well after us had plates flying out. We were about to cancel the pad thai when it came out for both tables. Weird. I also overheard the waitress ask the other table about spice level but we werent given an option. Instead it came out with no spice and we had to add it ourselves. Very bland, overpriced pad thai with overcooked prawns. Definitely not worth the wait either.

After a really long time the evil dictator “aka Ming the merciless” Mr do as i say, not as i do” Mr French Laundry himself Gavin Newsom opened up outdoor dining, this was where headed. local, fresh, delicious.Well worth getting a reservation, eat well, drink well, tip well.

One of the best restaurant dinners I have had in a long time! Great Thai flavors and influences. We had the Fried Chicken, Sasuage and Mushroom Salad appetizers...all were amazing. I only wish there were twice as many mushrooms in the salad. All the sauces were amazing...and make sure to ask for some chili oil is you like to spice things up. We also shared the Duck Breast Lettuce Wraps...which were also amazing. Oh...and dont forget the Thai iced tea...yum! Cant wait to go back!

Best Thai food I’ve had in a while. Fresh, flavorful, unique. Green Curry was excellent, and the dumplings are a must eat. Staff was friendly and very helpful suggesting and describing menu items.
Fried chicken, yellow curry, black cod and steak were all delicious. This is my new favorite restaurant.

Wow. This is not your average Thai restaurant — it’s a step or three above basically any other Thai place, well, anywhere. Everything is elevated and thoughtful, from the Pad Thai, that most ubiquitous and basic of Thai dishes, on down. Refined sauces, skilled cooking, subtle flavors and textures. I’ve lived in Thailand and I will say this is nevertheless one of the best, if not the best, Thai food I have ever had. Amazing list of local wines, beer, and cider on tap, too. Run, don’t walk.
Someone should buy this place and open a shoe store. The salad plates are made by Heath. They are expensive, $50 each. Then your hot food comes, if at all, served on cheap, plastic, throw away dishes. Even the hot soup in a cheap plastic bowl. The food was disappointing, the service was a bunch of high school kids in street clothes, no hairnets, no serious professionals in sight. Somehow these people have a Michelin star rating reminding me that the tire company doesn’t sell food. Keep driving and find something else.
The food is exceptionally tasty. The larb and spicy eggplant, all so good. The pad Thai was a little rubbery. They still have a bit of work to do in terms of timing between courses, but that part was more comical than anything. We will be back.
Wow! What can I say. We absolutely loved this place! The décor, the food and the customer service was beyond excellent. We had the peanuts (well spiced) to start, Pad Thai, jasmine rice, crispy fried pork belly and crispy fried rock fish. Everything was amazing but the one that took the cake hands down was the Rock fish!!! Flavor was amazing, very authentic and didnt skim on the spice! Highly recommend this place and can totally tell the caliber of venue this is. No wonder they are on the Michelin Guide!
Had a great experience here for dinner with a large group of friends. We basically ate through the entire menu and it was all delicious. The Plaa Thawt Lat Prik / Crispy Fried Rock Fish stood out as the crowd favorite. Wine bottle selection was concise with great options to pair with our meal. Service was great, they were welcoming and took great care of us!
Disappointed doesn’t begin to cover it. After much anticipation and hype, I made a reservation for myself and a few friends for a celebratory dinner. Came on time for our reservation and had to wait for a table to get prepped for us. After we were seated, we were notified that they were out of a few items - disappointing but we were able to look past. Then we went to order drinks and they were out of the options we asked for. Went to order appetizers, and they were out of all the options we asked for, which were NOT identified as sold out by the host when we were seated. We went to order entrees and they were sold out of more of those too! After all was said and done they were sold out of over 8 items on the menu? They only have 13-14 items on the menu so this is pretty significant. When entrees arrived they were incredibly spaced apart. By the time the last dish for our table came, there were 3 people of the 5 done eating. We all had to order Pad Thai because that was nearly the only entree left on the available menu. It lists chicken thighs as an ingredient and I would be shocked if we had more than one piece each. The ingredients were absolutely skimped on. The dish was bare and not to the listed standard. Napkins and toppings didn’t come until the last person was eating. Of course, this food was so overpriced for what we got. I am so disappointed, I can’t even begin to cover it in this review. I was so excited to come here and was let down in every single way.
Three words, whole fried rockfish! The food is outstanding. Ive had just about everything on the menu and every dish offers new and exciting flavors, textures and consistant quality. The fried lemongrass chicken and the dumplings are must haves! The staff is friendly and attentive. If you want a taste of Thailand drop by Khom Loi, you wont be disappointed!
It is a delightful place for a good meal. It gets busy at lunch and dinner reservations are often needed. But Ive always been able to walk in for an early dinner. The appetizers are quite tasty. Excellent selection of beer and wines. The single glass pour of wine is a bit small and pricey.

We visited Khom Loi to celebrate my husband’s birthday because of its Michelin status. I had called in before hand to notify the restaurant of the same. However, they did not take any note of it.We were seated by 8:30pm. Our server took our order by 8:35pm. Our appetizer arrived at 8:45pm. Then, it was 9:10pm and our entree (pad thai noodle) was still not served. Our server was nowhere to be seen and had apparently left the restaurant. When we complained, our food was prepared. We were so disappointed with the horrible service that we just did a takeout and left by 9:15pm. The restaurant/ manager/ chef did not even care about customer satisfaction and not even a single person showed up to fix the situation

Food is always amazing. Does not have all the standard Thai fare but each dish is unique and excellent in its own way. Definitely a place to revisit time and time again.
So delicious!!!! Great and friendly staff. We had a glass of wine, the Thai-chelada (right amount of spice, very yummy), the whole fried rockfish (from cheek to tail we were down to bone by the end), and the Khao Soi (which was beautiful noodles in a broth that had layers of flavor served alongside pickled greens and more). Everything was perfection. Would return if we are ever even driving past the town nearby!
Be ready to leave hungry. The flavors were great. Service was great. The portions were too small. A plate of skirt steak was all lettuce and mushrooms and 4 thumb size pieces of flat meat. Looked like scraps. The salad dishes were mounted with cabbage and basil to make them look fancy. 100 dollar meal and I got more lettuce than anything. All the sauces were made with tons of sugar too. It was defiantly not worth it.
One of the BEST Thai food that we have had in the Bay Area. We spend 3 months each year in Thailand, so we know and love our Thai food. Khom Loi serves a wealth of regional Thai foods not found in most Thai restaurants in the US. The menu may look small but each dish we tried was excellent, From the popular papaya salad and lamb curry to the grilled sirloin dish. They give you chillies on the side to spice up to your own tastes! Lovely ambiance and great food. Nice wine list too.
We waited 35 minutes for our table even though we had a reservation. The $23 Babette steak was a joke - tiny crispy pieces of meat that had the texture of leather. The whole spicy fish was tasty, but it’s brown look was off putting, and ultimately, not worth $38. The eggplant was tasty but the accompanying green beans were cut so small so couldn’t be picked up with a fork. And what is with the no serving utensils with each dish? I should not have to use my fork to dish something onto my plate. Service was adequate and friendly but no one really seemed to promote the food, the concept, the flavors. This is not a fun place and I cannot recommend it.

The bright flavors and fresh ingredients bring these authentic Thai dishes to life. The menu changes occasionally, and for Autumn 2021, 3 of us had half a duck breast which we assembled into lettuce cups, crispy pork belly with chili sauce, a red curry with beef rib, papaya salad, and fried peanuts which started us off and which I tried successfully with almost every dish on the table. An extensive wine list was tempting, but we opted for Thai iced tea, a light a refreshing rendition, and the draft lager which kept the chili from roasting my taste buds. Reservations required, but I got an early table on a Friday night same day.

Super delicious! The crispy rice salad and the mushroom salad were definite winners! The dumplings arent really dumplings though...they are like a sticky rice cake. Kind of disappointing when ordering a dumpling expecting one thing and getting another.
Absolutely the best Thai food Ive had in the US by far.I lived in Thailand 10 years, speak the language fluently and cook many Thai dishes myself. I can easily say this place absolutely killed with its unique yet authentic style of Thai cuisine.Highly recommended, I cant wait to go back.
Pretty good food, but I wouldnt call it great. Khoom Lana in Santa Rosa is better, and not too far away. Really cool vibe though, so its definitely better in that way.Service was pretty good, and the people were nice. A little slow to dish the food from the kitchen, but they were busy so its understandable.Nice that you can reserve online. Definitely a must-go place just to see the interior of the restaurant, but its not a place Ill go frequently. Its a little pricey, and there is better Thai food in town.

That here is surprised to find that the same team of talented people who worked on Ramen Gaijin has created another massively successful work? The chefs at this restaurant have traveled extensively around Thailand, which served as the inspiration for them to reproduce the food of Chiang Mai at this restaurant in Sebastopol, which is situated in California. Anyone who is looking for the sweeter and more Americanized side of Thai cuisine is in for an unpleasant awakening, for sure. Thai cooking is not at all like American cooking. This is a style of cooking that makes use of flavors and seasonings with a minimum of reluctance, but at the same time, it is able to maintain its vitality and freshness. For instance, the Thai sausage that is made right here in the restaurant is really mouthwatering, and it is served grilled and with a fiery green chili sauce on the side. The paste for each of the many different types of curries is also made in-house. Our particular favorite is the green curry that comes with Manila clams and potatoes; however, all of the pastes are made in-house. Because it has high ceilings, bamboo lanterns, and a pond in the middle of it, the place is also rather lovely to look at.
Me and my family love this place so much! The food is so good. Our favorite thing is the lemongrass fried chicken. Last time we were there we got their soft serve with caramelized banana, Boba and coconut chips. SO GOOD.
The food was well prepared, with a light touch of sugar. Dishes are a fusion of Thai and California. The outdoor area was spacious with heaters as needed. The Som Tom (green papaya salad) was reminiscent of Bangkok, but less spicy (1 pepper). They serve Beer Chang instead of Singha. Altogether an enjoyable experience!

Anybody that isnt giving this place 5 stars doesnt have any taste buds or taste or something. I grew to like Thai food over the years because I had a aversion to coconut early in life. I realized that its all about the flavor and you dont need it grated on your B Day German Chocolate Cake every year. Yuck!Anyhoo, try this place. The food is great.

No table ready when arriving with a reservation - we had to stand for 10 minutes.The whole place is *very* noisy, with diners loud-talking to be heard.The papaya salad started was way too spicy, and we like spicy foods. We barely touched it.The mains were okay, but not special. The pad-thai was acceptable, but the green curry with sweet potatoes was just a watery and flavorless liquid with a few chunks of potatoes and basil floating around.The bill had 2 errors on it, and on requesting these be changed we got a surly response with no apology.We will not be back - long live Ginger Thai in downtown Sebastopol!
Tasty food. Painfully poor service. Waitstaff did not appear to be properly trained. Multiple items were forgotten, had to be reordered. When it does come out, the food is timed so poorly it approaches ridiculousness. Sticky rice first thing dropped, sat there getting cold until the dish I ordered it for came out at the end of the meal. First plates appeared before our drinks. Drink orders not retaken through the meal in a timely manner. Etc. Shame because the food is good despite the horrendous coordination. Not sure wed return.
Excellent fresh Thai food, ingredients sourced locally, including Sebastopol. Prices are the same as other Thai in the Sonoma county area, but now Im going to compare everyone else and wish I was here!

The only reason why I give 4 stars instead of 5 is unfortunately we had a new waitress, she forgot my husbands meal so we had to spilt mine, didn’t know what to recommend and when she picked up plates at the end spilled it on me. Yes I know she’s new and sometimes nerves can get in the way so I wouldn’t rate this place lower than a 4 do to that. The food was very good and the building itself is really neat.

Our kids love Thai food and were so happy to get Paid Thai, green curry (yes they loved all the veggies in the curry), Thai iced Tea, and my husband and I loved the peanut crack. Love that we could eat on the patio with our dog, but I wouldnt really call it a patio as it was basically enclosed and little flies were flying around everywhere. Reminded me a bit of eating in actual Thailand years ago. Not a whole lot of parking, BUT if you park on Florence you can walk off your overeating while looking at all the cool art by Patrick Amiot.

2022-05-27 07:04:28Unique and unlike any Thai food I’ve had. Beautiful ambiance. Fun young crowd. The whole fried fish is amazing and super spicy. The music is fun to dance to in your chair. Do not skip the Sundae or if you want to be conservative go with the Strauss soft serve. Even though they don’t do cocktails, the wine list is fantastic.

The service and operations has their game down perfect. The food comes out quickly but organized. The service is disciplined to never miss a beat with diners. And the food is incredible. The presentation is impeccable and making you wished you ordered seconds! The fish entrees are amazing, especially the Black Cod or the Rock Fish! Rock Fish was my favorite. And save room for the desserts! The sundae will never let you regret it! Make reservations!

2023-08-12 04:57:13I have had dinner here several times before and the food was great. But tonight it was weird. The flavor of the green curry and the sweet potato was very good but the veggies were big chunks of almost raw zucchini and a handful of raw cherry tomatoes. Not so great. Also there was no baby corn but regular corn on the cob, cut in large pieces. It was served with a fork and a spoon and I had no idea how to eat this so had to ask for a knife. After the initial order there was was no sight of the waitress I had to flag down a sweet but unexperienced teenage (bus?) boy to ask for the check. He left without taking any of the used plates and bowls and brought me the check. But never returned. Had to wave to get the attention of another young man and paid.All in all a bit much money for a not so great meal and service.

2021-09-17 17:07:17The fried fish really blew me away. People who are not accustomed to being served a whole fish, bones and all, can order this dish to expand their horizons. It was well done. They fried it in a way which got the skin crispy without compromising the meat and the taste and juice remained. The tamarind sauce was absolutely perfect. The spice, sweetness, and flavor were in harmony. We ordered the beef dish which was good and the duck dish was bland and tiny. It was not what I was expecting.. in a disappointing way.

I am a fan of the sister restaurant Ramen Gaijin and I definitely felt the same vibes here.The menu is inviting without being pretentious. There are very familiar dishes like pad thai and drunken noodles but I encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. I had a great host, Chris, who offered to help us navigate the dishes.Awesome place that definitely deserves its Bib Gourmand accolade.
