I came here in 2002 for the first time, my children were 2/3 years old,, and still we always eat here at least twice a month, and tried other Thai restaurants but,, always. Come back here,, even my children now on their 20s still come here,

I love Thai food and usually am not able to find amazing Pad Thai like I was able to find here. Eating Thai food at different places in the valley has made my taste very picky, and this is one of the spots that I really like.

This was the worst Thai food I have ever bought. They gave me what seemed to be boiled chicken. I didnt know they only accept cash so I went all the way to my bank to come back and be served garbage.

HURRY HURRY! THEY ARE GOING ON VACATION TILL 2021. HURRY! NOVEMBER 14.!!! Flavorful and well worth the wait and patience. All time favorite ever! Top notch in comparison to other restaurants. Cook fresh when order to your spicy level: mild, medium, and very/ hot but can modify to fit your diet or allergies or preferential desire needs.Enjoy chicken or beef curry over rice, fried chicken rice without ketchup sauce, or sauce on rice from cashew chicken, pad see ew with beef, tom yum soup with SHRIMP, kra pao ta lay, basil mint GROuND pork to name a few ...or any of the dishes in the hot trays are excellent but preferably with white rice. Dont mix or combine the dishes when you spoon so you can taste. I like Thai Tea or Thai coffee but it disappears too quickly. Parking limited on site or street but available. Unfortunately they are going on vacation months so load up or wait,..CASH ONLY,Know what you want then order in advance before going. Sometime sold out...Enjoy¡!!

I used to come here for about 20 years with my family. But throughout the years so much has changed. The food portions got very smaller as well as the Thai iced teas! They used to use longer cups now it’s small cups. The decline in taste and quality has also dropped. My family and I try to give this restaurant more chances but this will be the last time we go. The soups taste like water before it would have that coconut thick milk. The meat also tastes very old/expired. No more. I would recommend Rincome. They have good Thai food there:)

I use to work down the street from this place. Tried the food from a coworker. It is the best. My favorite is the spicy catfish. I am now retired and live over 30 miles away. This food is worth the drive. Every one there is always very kind, patient and friendly. I love this place ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Seafood spicy soup is delicious,orange chicken appetizer is delicious too, there is a wait process but you can tell is freshly made,usually they get pretty busy, only thing they need to work on is maybe adding a waitress during busy days, and train a few people skills to servers, because couple of the waitresses have a hard time smiling to the guests and can be a little rude when they are overwhelmed with a lot of guests. Other than that flavor is very good and prices are fair. Please visit and help small business continue in the Valley.

My family has been dining here ever since I could remember so ~20 years. The food is some of the best Thai food in the LA area. The staff is very friendly and some have also been with the restaurant since I was a kid. The only downsides I can think of are the shrinking Thai tea portions and sometimes slow service.

Excellent taste. Suggest, American fried rice, fresh or deep fried catfish, Tom yum, pork leg stew, fried pork ribs, krapow talay etc... The price is still below $10 per dish, while others jump to $13. Went there on Saturday lunch, so busy. Take some dessert home. You will enjoy it.

They told me it would take 25 mins to make my food. I coordinated with someone so that they would get there and simply pay, pick up the food, and carry on with our day. 50 mins later the food is still not ready. When I called to see it would be long they responded with “do you want it or not?” I would not recommend ordering over the phone with them. I’m glad others had a good experience but I’m disappointed in the customer service. Next time say something like, “it’ll take anywhere from 40-60 mins” instead of lying to the customer.

I recommend this place to anyone who wants a good,fresh meal. The place is very plain but who cares when the food and service is so good. The manager is very friendly and helpful. Used to visit this place very often and was pretty satisfied with the food. On 01/22/2015 I ordered a spicy large chicken coconut soup for pick up. Over the phone the girl who i ordered from said the small steamed rice side cost $1 and the large $2. When I got to the place the owner who charged me said that the small steamed cost $ 1.50. I explained to him what his worker over the phone had told me and he still assured me it was 1.50 so I let it go and came home.When I opened up the coconut soup I was surprised to see the cup was filled only 3/4 of the way. Upset called the owner which was very rude and didnt even offer an apology. Said he didnt care what I thought and i told him I would write a review and tell my friends of then unpleasant experience I had at his restaurant. He just hung up on me. Would not recommend unless you want to be ripped off by the portions.

Hmmm I guess I havent posted a review here for Khun Khao, so Ill have to remedy that. Ive been a customer for more than 30 years. I dont live in LA anymore, but when we find ourselves in LA we always stop by there. The owner still remembers us and treats us like friends. But the food. Best Thai I have had anywhere. OK so I havent been to Thailand but Ive been all over US and Europe, and Khun Khao is #1 in my book. There are two dishes in particular that I get every time. One is Cashew Nut Chicken. I guess plenty of places make this dish good- but still Khun Khao stand out. The other dish is Kua Gai, also known as Guay Tiew Kua Gai. Its a noodle dish that is similar to pad see ew. This stuff is AMAZING. I am told it is a common Thai street food dish that you can find everywhere. But not many Thai restaurants in the US make it. Ive found 2 in the Bay Area that make it- but neither of them are very good. The Kua Gai at Khun Khao is PHENOMENAL. Trust me- go try it. Everything else weve had is good (my wife likes their deserts) but I never get anything else there. On top of this, their prices are very reasonable, portions good, and the staff friendly. Its a small restaurant on Roscoe Blvd in Panorama City. Not the best neighborhood and its just a small spot in a nondescript strip mall. So dont go for the ambience. But do go for the food. You will thank me.

I have been going to this restaurant on and off for over 25 years. Its my favorite Thai restaurant. The soup with chicken and coconut milk is the bomb. I believe its called Tom Kha Gai, though I have to get it mild. I usually order rice on the side and mix it in. The owner told me the restaurant has been there 37 years, which would be 1984.

My parents have been coming to Khun Khaos since they were dating. Theyve brought me and my siblings here all my life. Im 21 now and bringing my own boyfriend. My boyfriend and I have tried lots of other Thai places in the Valley and in L.A. but theres a reason my parents kept coming back and its not all sentimental. The food here is always great and the prices are really good. Its now his favorite Thai place as well and a regular date night stop for us.

Update: they have not been open for months and I would not be surprised if they decided to once again postpone when they will open back up again from being on vacation.Have called multiple times during the past few days during their open business hours and not one time have they answered. I ordered seafood tom yum and pad thai. I thought that the food was good. Now the thai coffee--I sensed a strong odor of chlorine from the first sip, took a couple of more sips to confirm, and then gave up on it. The staff (who was nice enough generally) asked, and I told them that I dont like it and gave them the reason. They should have offered to take it off my bill but didnt (even though it was largely untouched); just that little bit of savvy about customer service could have boosted the rating. The coffee gave me pause in terms of the quality of the food, but luckily that turned out OK.

I live in Los Angeles my family and I faithfully drive here at least twice a week. The food is awesome not to mention you are treated like family. My favorite dishes are the garlic chicken over rice, cashew chicken, orange chicken, and LORD ham mercy their cucumbers taste like watermelon. Lol please come try it for yourself.

Great authentic Thai restaurant. Kenny, the owner, is a great guy. Many items here on the menu you cant find at your normal local Thai restaurant unless youre in North Hollywood which has a plethora of authentic Thai restaurants. At most Thai restaurants everything is made to order. There are some dishes at Khun Kao that they prepare ahead of time and give the food more time for the flavors to mix. For that reason I love the yellow curry chicken here better than any place else. They also have these incredibly good spicy chicken wings called prik king pi gai that will knock your socks off if you try them. Unfortunately theyre only available one day a week (Wednesday) and tend to sell out fast. Get them if you can!

Favorite restuarant in the valley, just for thai food period. No one else make it like they do!My favorite dish is the #67- the spicy seafood combination ( stir fry) I suggest order it mild if its your first time trying. I order mine medium. (Spicy is way too hot! Hotter than habanero pepper!) They also make a soup version of this. I havent tried it though.Ive been here at least 25 times and I get the#67 every time. Why do i get this every time some might wonder. Its because Ive been to at least 5 other thai restaurants for this dish,(Santa monica, Pico-Robertson area, El segundo, West Hollywood, also a thai place directly across the street from here, and that was only because I came here on a Monday. They are closed on Mondays!They all pale in comparison to this place ! The only other item Ive ever tried was the beef broccoli.
