I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fish at Kiku Sushi. I ordered their Umi Combo Dinner which consisted of 10 assorted pieces. All of the pieces were fresh and delicious. My wife ordered a 3 item bento, but found the salmon teriyaki to be a bit overcooked.Service was attentive and friendly. I would definitely go back for their sashimi.

My husband said best sushi rolls he has ever had and way cheaper too than the Sushi restaurant we frequent back home. I have never had Teriyaki Beef that delicious before. The price included it, soup, and a salad. All the establishments back home are soup or salad, definitely not both! Can you come to NC lol?

This place is great, words cant describe how satisfied I am with this little spot, Ive always been big on food presentation, my goodness! The chefs here really do take pride in their artistry, the portions and size of the rolls are abundant, the taste out of this world with the sauces perfectly being paired up with the entree served, they have a plethora of sushi roll combinations and to top it off they offer complimentary ice cream for dessert. A must to visit this spot, guaranteed to become a regular, it has for me.🍻👍

Nice place for sushi my gf loves it as well. The employees are nice the gentleman who served us was polite and kept coming back making sure we were OK with drinks or if we needed anything else. I always get the baked salmon roll its delicious.

Some of the sushi itself is okay at best, but what really disappointed me was the Ramen. I understand that this is a sushi place but the ramens soup tasted like water with a minor amount of salt. The noodles themselves didnt even absorb what little flavor there was and the pork felt unseasoned and very bland. Very disappointed with the price to flavor ratio. Not sure if I was there on a bad day but the food just was not the best.

I am staying at a hotel near by and found this place to walk over to grab a bite. What a gem of a place!! I ordered their specials on the menu and it was absolutely delightful. I am not the best picture taker but I took a picture of some of the things I ordered and added it here. Wow! The taste was phenomenal. Come see and taste it for yourself and you will love it! The service here was awesome as well. Come by and you be the judge. :)

1st diners for lunch. Salmon sashimi and bento lunch was awful, the fish tasted like its been there a while. Almost didnt make it home to my throne!! Good luck if you eat there and dont feel that good after youve eaten there.

One of my favorite sushi places in the Monrovia area. Everything tasted fresh.I got the bento box, with mackerel and sashimi. The portions were pretty big, so I was really happy about that.The hot green tea was refillable, I think they make it fresh, its a genmai cha I believe, it even has some roasted rice floating about.

Always go here when I feel like Japanese. Food is always awesome and service is on point (friendly staff). No complaints so far and Ive been going here for years. I usually get the special combo meals which you can mix and match (chicken, beef, fish, shrimp, etc.). Give them a try if youre passing by and this might be your new favorite place.

So my experience was awful. But my family didnt seem to have an issue. They ordered a few different rolls and they were amazing. The Philadelphia, the California and a couple others that I can not remember, but they were incredible! Unfortunately my daughters child Chicken teriyaki tasted like fish and my Katsu chicken curry was still raw. Now they did offer to redo it but my stomach couldnt handle looking at food after that. Their bathroom was also smelly (didnt help my stomach) and needed to be wiped down. We ended up paying for everything no discount, Im sorry or even having the 2 meals taken off. Will not be returning sorry guys.

Suggest they change their posted lunch hours to the latest you can arrive and order as they close earlier than 2:30 PM for lunch. I took my 96 yo mother here for late lunch (for Covid safety) and due to traffic (I came from San berdo cty) we arrived at 2:10 and they said it’s too late they already had “last call” for lunch even though the sign said open and that they close at 2:30. Never experienced this before anywhere. If you plan on lunching here be sure to arrive early because they won’t accommodate. Didn’t get to try the food so no comment just on the service. Had to find another place with soft food for my mother and she didn’t get to eat sukiyaki as many places don’t serve it. Sad to report this bad experience really left a bad taste in my mouth because I felt like it wasn’t handled kindly or well.

They have the best tea and the food is really good too. It is worth trying everything on the menu, which will require several trips with great meals.They are back in stride, everything is still great. For the first time someone was at the sushi bar although most of that is for the take out business. The only problem with the out is that you miss the tea.

This is our go to sushi place. We’ve been coming here for 16 years. When the ownership changed there was a bit of a dip on service and quality, but based on our last visit it has rebounded. Larry the chef knows us and always sends us a special item on the house and occasionally even his off-the-menu creation which are always delicious and make us feel like special customers.

We Love this Japanese Restaurant, everything they offer are good products, from the teas to the soups, salads, side dishes and the Sushis OMG (My favorite are the baked Sushis). We been trying different ones all are good 👍. Its Kind of pricey but its worth it. The People who works there are very kind, amiable and they remember you. Our personal experience you know with this all pandemic, when all began we werent visiting any place for one year and we came back here and the first thing they told us was: We were worry about you guys we didnt see you before and we are happy to see you are ok. We been visiting them once a month since August 2014 and we hope to do it for more time. Its probably well see you there sometime.

Arrived during happy hour, a couple of extra plates at half price. Small location, but well suited for the number of visitors at that time of night. Food was excellent, never needed to ask for refills, everything was brought to us at the same time, large portions, would go back again. Best to go with three or more.

The fish at Kiku is always fresh, their service is quick and efficient, and the restaurant is really cute and intimate. There is a ton of free parking in front of the restaurant and they dont usually have a long wait time. One of my favorite local spots! I really liked the Alice in Chains roll.

My first experience in Kiku sushi was positively exceptional. The service was wonderful. You are greeted upon entering and care is taken to make sure that the customer is satisfied. The food was reasonable but more important it was delicious and varied. I ordered four different dishes; Jenny roll, spider roll, dream roll, sunshine roll. Fresh roll was fresh and tempura roll was crisp and hot. The treat to start with was the edamame, salad, and miso soup. Great portion for sharing. Quite a treat. Cannot wait to return!

I am a regular here. Great food and service is excellent. This is where my kids learned to use their chopsticks. We have been coming here for many years. This is the standard where we compare the Miso soup to any other Japanese restaurant.

This place used to be awesome...Then ownership changed hands...Waitress are rude and wont let two sit on a table for four....WTF ?I was there tonight and after we got seated we waited over 10 min for the waitress that NEVER came but did manage to serve two other groups that came AFTER we did...again WTF ?I would not recommend this place and will not be coming back again...Previous post said it best... they are greedy...I got nothing but bad vibes from it...

Okay, I see some people disliking the place after the owner had been changed. But the one thing you must know is that the venue used to be an all-you-can-eat type sushi place before. Now that the owner has changed (roughly 2 years ago I guess), in my opinion Kiku makes one of the freshest sushi and the most delicious japanese (fusion) food in the area. Maybe those few didnt like the service there, but whenver I go to Kiku they would welcome me with the nicest greeting Ive ever received in my life. And as somebody complains, you might not gonna get to sit in a table for 4 if you are a party of 2, but as another user mentioned its because the place can get filled real quick at any time not that they dont want you to sit there. Weather you like their service or not, you cannot deny their great food quality.

Oh my god... who knew that there would be such a hidden gem in Arcadia/Monrovia? Maybe most of you guys know this place, but I live about 20 minutes away (Pasadena) and was recommended here by a regular. (they said owner has been changed only about 10 month ago) We sat at the bar and ordered only sushi, so I would not know about the cooked, regular food. It is a straight up traditional sushi joint--small and slightly cramped, but with the smell of sushi and a Hinoki wooden-zen ambiance! The servers and chefs were extremely nice, and Japanese servers Dwayne and Ian (Dwayne is from Tokyo, Ian is from Kyoto, next to Osaka) helped me picking the right dishes. As I mentioned their service and attitudes are always top notch and personable!We ordered:Seared albacore sushi with miso: The chef used a blow torch to sear, and it was dressed in some sort of citrus very refreshing sauce. I couldnt really tell it was something i knew, but the fish melted in my mouth, and the dressing enhanced the flavor to make it some delightfully creamy melt-in-your-mouth treat! This is probably my favorite!Uni from directly from Santa Barbara: BEST UNI I HAVE EVER TASTED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. You will LOVE this dish!Ama Ebi: They actually show you the energetic shrimps before the chef twists off the heads...then they stick the writhing heads on a plate and let you watch while they prepare the bodies (morbid, right?) BUT you KNOW it is fresh!! The fresh shrimp meat is sweet and firm instead of that mushy nasty frozen crap you get at cheap places, and the shrimp head fried really adds a savory flavor. I actually prefer my shrimp head fried, and i chomp the whole thing down like crunchy shrimp chips!Baked lobster: This is less saucy than most joints, which is good because its less heavy and not chocked full of mayo. The lobster chunks are bigger than your usual shreds and niblets of crawfish (Im comparing this to Gens from Pasadena) and the flavor is amazing!Crunch Roll: My least favorite, though not because it was bad. Just your usual roll...better tasting than most places, but I would rather be eating more seared salmon!Overall, amazing place for this location. It may have been enhanced by my equally amazing company, but everything was enjoyable and enchanting, and I had a GREAT night! WILL BE BACK! I heard the ALBAKANI is a must!

First off, I was in a generous mood to give this five stars. Hardly a restaurant rates that but I cant rate it 4.5 stars.In the Arcadia/Monrovia area there are many sushi joints. Most of them are not worth mentioning. if they are AYCE the portions are all rice and paper thin pieces of fish. If not that then they are way over priced. None of them give you any value.This place was a breath of fresh air. I had a lunch special, M-F for $13.95. I received four pieces of sushi and one roll. Many choices. All the fish was well and tasted good. All good portions. My last two or three pieces were a struggle to finish. I can eat a lot of sushi too. But after a very small salad and some miso soup, I was done. Plus, get this, pay with cash and your soft drink is free. The waitress kept my glass of iced tea full. They have another lunch special and also a dinner special.This is now my go to sushi place. I will not stray.Also they have a $9.95 special of two options albeit the rolls are smaller. Still a value.ADDENDUM- Raised their prices abt. 20% as of Jan. 2016 (Lose 2 stars.)I guess I shant be eating here anymore.ADDENDUM 2; Why in many reviews do people say the fish is fresh? There is no fresh fish in eating sushi. The ahi must age a minimum of ten days. Most fish sold has all been previously frozen. Even the stuff in the case on display. they took it out of a freezer and put it behind glass. Believe me, you dont want to eat raw fish that hasnt been aged. If you are going to grill it, thats a whole other story. Ive BBQd tuna caught on the boat, less than an hour from sea to my stomach. Killer! But sushi? I want it aged. So stop it already and stop saying the fish wasnt fresh, of course it wasnt!Would you want to eat beef that wasnt dry aged for 28 days? Of course not, sashimi is the same.

I have come to this restaurant for over two-years now, and every time its worth the time and drive from Pasadena. First, the main head chef is the owner, which reflects in the quality of fish and presentations, as well as the authentic Ramen noodles.I love the fish, especially the salmon, Hamachi, albacore and lobster. The spicy tuna roll or hand roll is simply perfection. Perhaps the spider roll is ordinary, but the ingredients are not.As for the Udon and Ramen? The original is wonderful, but on a cold night, the spicy version is the one to have. The texture of the broth and noodles is perfect,While the servers have come and gone over the years, and not all have been the most attentive or trained, I cannot say it has marred any visit at any time. What hasnt changed are the main head chef (the owner) and enduring quality.
