Very delicious Chinese food with lots of vegetarian/vegan options! The service was fast and the workers were polite. The space is large and beautifully designed, with several fish tanks running along the center and art on the walls. It was a bit pricey but I think worth it for the serving size and experience.

I really enjoyed this place. The food was like really good comfort Chinese food. Everything was delicious, and the service was great.This is not a fine dining place, and it is not the worlds best Chinese food, but it is great food for a reasonable price. Family run Southern Chinese cuisine, polite staff, spacious, tv is always playing in the background but kept real low, clean restaurant, clean bathroom, you choose where you seat. But to be polite, sit where your numbers suit the table seating so others may have a seat. You wont wait longer for your food, never waited more than 15 min for my food, theyll ask if youd like something to drink after they leave your a menu, I suggest the tea. Good Chinese food. Recommend if youre in the Downtown Berkeley area, price is good for the area. Please tip, again Family run restaurant.

I give five stars because the food is goooooood. Was I starving when I went. Yes. But still the food is amazing. I went with my mother, my husband and my 2 kids. For 5 people the order was like 53 bucks. And thats also my husband having 2 beers. The place is cheap, good and the food tastes amazing in my opinion Oh they give you alot of food. Their not skimpy at all.

Came here in anticipation of their previously great szechuan beef. Was very dissatisfied with the quality of the food, tasted like sour chips in Szechuan sauce. When confronting the staff with our unfortunate experience, we were told that this is how it is and were insinuated to leave early. Tasty crab cakes tho.

This is my go-to place for Chinese food in Berkeley. Its relatively inexpensive, and the people who work there are always very pleasant to me, which you wont always find in every Chinese restaurant. Im not saying that they are mean at other restaurants, just that they dont have the greatest social skills. The food here is passable, not great. I feel it could use a little more seasoning, but you can always add more condiments to suit your palate. Overall, I always enjoy coming here.

This place sucks! Ordered food when my husband didnt feel like cooking - $30 plus tax/tip for two meals (okay I guess for this area if its decent). Get home and no rice. Really??!! Its a freaking CHINESE RESTAURANT. Why do you not get rice with your meals?? So now my husband is cooking rice (when he didnt want to cook) so we have an actual meal. Called the restaurant - super rude about it. Told me to leave a bad review - so I am. Dont order - there are PLENTY of GREAT Chinese restaurants with hardworking owners and employees that provide rice with the meal. King Dong SUCKS!

We tend to order the same thing every time - shrimp fried rice, chicken chow fung, and our favorite, the salt and pepper string beans. It usually tastes about the same but every now and then they forget to add the proper amount of salt to the salt and pepper string beans. When this happens, its a bust! The delivery guy is always prompt and friendly.

Ive been ordering from King Dong for years. I get the same thing every time Won Ton soup. This time I ordered it it came with shrimp. I know for a fact regular Won Ton does not come with shrimp. I am allergic so Im very careful. I called the restaurant and he was very rude. Will never go back!!!

The food here is good; however, I was disappointed in this last visit. I ordered several dishes to go, in which the majority was good. But the orange chicken was over cooked, hard and dry. They use breast meat. And we know u cant over cook breast meat. I didnt realize this til I was home. Honestly, Ive never had anything cooked like this from them. I dont want to bash too much because they do have good food, but now I know that when I order take-out, I must check each dish to see if its fresh and cooked properly before leaving the site. So I would advise others to do the same.

This place is great!! It is homey, the whole staff is wonderful and friendly, making jokes with us. The food is good--and the price cant be beat. Best veggie fried rice Ive had. My boyfriend is vegetarian, so I havent tried as much of the menu as I would like, but I love the fish tank, and the relaxed atmosphere. Its definitely my go-to when I dont want to cook!

What an amazing place! As a group we go sometimes as much as once a week. Super tasty, friendly servers, and really good pricing. We almost always get two orders of general chicken, a salt and pepper green bean, and an eggplant, along with the tasty potstickers. The general chicken is probably the best Ive had in the bay. Highly recommend!

I have no idea what folks who gave this place excellent reviews were thinking. Did they go to a different restaurant and thought it was King Dong? Were they under the influence of powerful hallucinogenics? Were their taste buds DEAD? This is by far the worst Chinese food I have ever had the displeasure to eat. This was my first time eating here (my usual place was closed), so I was excited to try a new place. Ordered all my faves (6 different dishes). The food was tasteless, looked unappealing and smelled questionable. If you hired a brand new backwoods cook from the Ozarks to cook Chinese food this would be the result. Correction - whatever they came up with would probably taste better. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

One of Berkeleys oldest continuously running Chinese establishments, displace cranks out the old school dishes the way that you remember them sweet and sour pork, cashew chicken, and other simple the lights from a time when Chinese cuisine was not quite so Gourmet, but hearty and delicious. Note, takeout is a little iffy, this is a better place to come in and sit down.

I am not sure how they got their 4 stars. The experience I had was horrible. First of all, the waiter had a very poor attitude. He was very rude when we asked him questions about the menu. Secondly, later when our plates were served. We found out that the restaurant seemed run out of certain ingredient and they replaced something cheap on the plate that did not fit the description on the menu. When we asked the waiter, he just said that was what it was. No apology at all. In terms of the food quality, you can taste that it was from a frozen chicken and the chicken was old. They have a few dinner booths, but the sofa seat were old, and shabby with holes and greasy stains on it. Wont recommend it.

Extremely rude customer service! Never have I encountered a place that blames the customer for the restaurant fault. Have long delivery times and only have one driver when lunchtime is their busiest hour. What type of sense does that make !Then when they give a delivery time of a one hour! I patiently wait for the driver and then they make up the excuse that they are super busy and only have one driver! But they have been in business in Berkeley for years and should know the traffic situation. And plus their quality in their food is trash.Please avoid this place! I use to be a repeat customer until I was treated with such disrespect and disgusting attitude from employees. Especially the man who takes the phone orders. Ordered the honey walnut prawns and beef chow fun and wasnt disappointed. Both dishes were extremely good and for $22.22 it was something that wasnt too expensive. I needed to get something to eat while driving uber and it definitely hit the spot and did the trick! No pictures because there wasnt any food left!

Ive been going to King Dong Restaurant for 15 years +. I love the Szechuan Beef. You get soup, salad and tea with the meal. The portions are amazing for the price. Their service is excellent. The staff is very friendly. The parking is challenging but I recommend this to anyone who wants a great meal for a great price in less than an hour. They deliver too. But I miss Anna!!!

Visiting from Southern California and stop by and had a feast. The large wonton soup is enough for 2-3 people. And the entree portions are enough for 2 people. My favorite plate was the deluxe chow mien and the deluxe spicy fried rice. I would highly recommend this place. Two thumbs up!!

This is my go to spot for Chinese in Berkeley--always has been, always will be. Lunch specials are a terrific bargain and staff pretty much recognize my family and I through tinted shades at 500 yds in a snow storm. Lets get right to the point. The food is delicious. A traditional Chinese with pan-asian influenced menu. The food is made fresh to order and always seems to come out SO FAST! My favorites are:• Honey-Walnut Prawn or Shrimp. Delicate batter, Sweet Sauce.• Mongolian Beef. The flavor...and OMG the crispy rice noodles. Yum.• Broccoli Beef. Deep brown Sauce, Tender Beef, Crispy Broccoli.All the Standards Are amazing. The price is well under what it should be for the quality of food and the flavor. The Mongolian Beef is always good! The most recent visit 01/18/19 we went at 9:30pm (they close at 10pm), the shrimp fried rice was not as good as it usually is. The rice was hard, dry, and not very flavorful. I had to use a lot of soy sauce to try bring it to life.

I ordered Shrimp and Broccoli in brown sauce, and when I called to grump about the fact that there was a buttery (and, as it happens, excellent) sauce rather than brown sauce, expecting a classic defensiveness like, You didnt order brown sauce.. Got an unauthorized charge on my card for 50 dollars to some website and have reported them to Berkeley PD since they seem to be using something to take peoples credit card information. I filed and won a complete chargeback for the entire meal but TBH you couldnt pay me to eat here again. Food tasted disgusting, flies all in the restaurant. Oh and the Yelp pages claims good for kids but I wouldnt take my worst enemies in a place like this. Its horrible.

This is our go-to for steamed BBQ pork bows / Char su bow. Theyre filled with the best Chinese BBQ sauce and the pork is always tender and most. The flour is never chewy or dry. If left alone with several orders of these things I think wed turn diabetic in a hurry.The portions are decent for the money, they have most of the old stand bys (sweet & sour pork, broccoli beef, honey Walnut prawns, etc) and then some other, more adventurous dishes. This place always has a group of what seem like regulars enjoying dinner and thats never a bad sign...

King Dong is a fast-food Chinese take out place. I dont think of it as fancy, gourmet, or top-of-the-line, but its a GREAT place to get fast, tasty food, or have it delivered to your door.It really helps that its located right next to UC Berkeley, as a college student it is pretty much the best late night dinner ever.After having graduated, I still find myself craving some of their food from time to time, and it never disappoints :)

Not to mention the AMASSING delivery man!!!! It seams that if you leave a note on the website they probably wont read it, but he will. I dont really like onions so after time and time again of saying no onions in my food and not having been catered to I told them i was highly allergic. He felt so bad after reading the note that he asked me to check if there where any on my food and he waited for me to pick through it all and said if their was that we would take it back. i felt so bad for keeping him cause i had ordered so much that i just told him it all looked good and to have a good night. in the end, it still had onions.

I got screwed on the honey walnut prawns, like most places, 12 prawns for 12 And some change, the majority was iceberg lettuce, I’ve been consistently disappointed by their food, their egg foo yong was terrible, an omelette with bean spouts and onions on top, their food is not very good and their prices are too high considering the quality of food I’ve gotten from them regularly.
