2022-08-14 22:54:41Situated on a working class section of east 14th street in San Leandro, King Kong dim sum offers moderately low priced dim sum as well as other standard Cantonese fare in a distinctly working class setting. Its hardly a destination restaurant but it fits the bill if youre looking for authentic Chinese food that doesnt break the wallet.Dim sum is well, good. Items were made to order and items came out piping hot. For better or worse, dim sum looked to be made in-house and not from some outside dim sum factory like some other establishments. Portion size is large and it should be given the customer base. I suppose you could say their dim sum is slightly more rough inside the edgesThe beef chow fun we ordered was decent. Plenty of overly tenderized beef and bok chow and hoh fun with some wok hay. 8/10 for quantity and 6/10 for quality. They are not shy about using MSG.King Kong also sells roast duck and Chinese roast pork belly. I hear the roast duck is well priced, meaty and actually quite good. We didnt order it though.Service is efficient and the waitresses are fairly polite. The balding guy in his late 40s that sits in the corner oversees and runs the place.Parking might be a challenge on the weekends. There is a small parking lot at the end next to the Salvadoran restaurant. If you happen to be in the area and are looking for a solid Chinese restaurant, give King Kong a try. Go in with moderate expectations and they will be met

2021-06-14 20:41:56Really cheap if you come here for the $22 for 3 dishes deal and the food isnt bad either. I go here pretty often with my family, usually for dinner, but occasionally will come for dim sum as well. The cleanliness isnt bad when compared to other Chinese restaurants of the same caliber and the prices are spot on. I recommend the sweet and sour fish or the cream corn fish.

2022-02-06 01:29:13Updated February 5, 2022After pandemic not as many items as before...I know supply chain issues cut back most Chinese restaurants but i sincerely hope they gradually bring the full, wide selection back. Come support them!Ive coming here for yrs while other dim sum places raise their price for the rich King Kong remains true to we the ppl ... love their variety of selection all very authentic and dinner spl offer deals you cant refuse. So come hungry as it wont break your bank.

2018-01-03 04:43:07Everything is just pretty ok overall. The Peking duck and the Walnut shrimp were pretty solid but the lobster and the beef dishes were bland.

2023-05-10 04:20:04Poor service. The waitress wasnt of much help when ordering . The place wasnt inviting . The fact that they all spoke their native language amongst them and other clients, which I dont understand, made the dining experience uncomfortable. The food wasnt great. I would dine here again if I can have someone with me who speaks the language so the experience can be enjoyable.

2023-02-04 18:47:18Food is good (except shrimp dumplings 蝦餃 which is just so so), service is great, and priced fairly.3 issues: (1) They may not have enough staff to handle good business. (Under new ownership, give it some time)(2) Parking is not easy if you come at noon.(3) Its a bit noisy because the tables are close to each other.I live nearby so I know parking is always a problem, just come earlier and try the good dim sum.

2017-03-24 18:17:23Much improved since its opening a few years back. Good, consistent food for San Leandro. Recommend the egg and pork porridge and the Chinese donut (fri thru sun only). No lines during the week and the bill wont break the bank.

2022-11-05 19:29:20When I went it was lively. Servers were at the end of their shifts so they engaged in friendly banter. There were a lot of older Asian people at the time, which means it was worth the dollar. And very family friendly. I used to go with my 20+ cousins, uncles, and aunts all the time.
