I used to like this place, but the last two times have been terrible. Over 1/3rd of the restaurant has dirty dishes on the tables. Tonight, only one waitress, I felt sorry for her. Their was a family that let their kids scream, yell, and run around the whole restaurant wrecklessly. Management wouldnt say a word. The kid were so loud the parents but them a few tables away so they wouldnt bother them. One 3 year old was on the table and fell off. Management should have handled this.The worst part was that the food wasnt good. The sushi was fishy, and the tempura just ok.I am done with this place....

They have good happy hour deals. Tried their normal and speciality rolls. Both were nice. I was expecting small portions but was surprised to chunky rolls of sushi being served. Ordered oysters as well but they weren’t up to the mark. Their staff is very warm and friendly. We informed the staff Jimmy Chen about the taste of oysters and he quickly replaced it and apologized several times. Overall a good place.

Wasnt what Google made it out to be. We were looking for a quiet place to get a nice dine in meal, not really fine dining but some place with a little more atmosphere than a family restaurant. Turns out this is not the place, its a sushi takeout with modular booths and televisions showing sports and a couple hibachi stations.Might be a good place if youre looking for something a lot more casual than what we are in the mood for but we paid and bailed after getting drinks.

Not a good experience. Chicken was freezer burnt in my lunch bento box. Confusing pricing structure. 3 min items for the bento boxes, $11.00 per item, so a simple Bento Box cost my wife & I $34 each. $80 for 2 Bento Boxes & 2 cokes is outrageous. No quantity difference between the $15-18 B-Boxes enjoyed everywhere. But here, double the price $. My jaw hit the grown when the bill arrived.

Great food and two different dining experiences under one roof. The grill option is similar to benihanas, something to try at least once and is great with a medium sized group. The dining room option was a much more relaxed and has plenty of TVs for watching the game. Grill can be a bit loud if busy, but its a great place to eat with friends.

I love coming here for happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 PM because they have special pricing on sushi rolls. Every time I’ve gone, the food has been amazing. Service is friendly and efficient.

Funny experience, Excitement level depends on your chef and interaction with your party. Everything seemed very fresh as you can see it being prepared in front of you. You can also sit at a normal dining table and order whats on the menu. Full bar was available, The constructive crisism... We are in Livermore!!! and there should be an abundance of wine. I struck out 3 times with 2 reds and one Chardonnay. Highly recommend ordering a cocktail or shots. Everyone we interacted with was very professional and courteous.

We just went there on Sunday evening. Ordered two appertizers plus one signature roll, one sashimi chirashi Dexlue. Starters was served pretty quick, but quality is really mediocre. Vegi Tempura was not crunchy. We then had to wait for another 25 minutes before sashimi and sushi roll. 14 piece sashimi was priced at $33 and the fish are so thin and they do not taste fresh. Service was also poor. I would not recommend this place

Starting out with some reasonably priced house sake was a great start. Everything from there on was flavorful, well prepared and well presented. The entertainment value is appreciated with the talented chefs that make the whole experience more fun. Make sure to ask the chef which of the sauces goes with each part of your meal. I found the flavor of each course to be good on its own but also great with the recommended sauce.

Tried this place from a Groupon and was surprised at the service and quality. Very friendly staff and the food was awesome. Price was reasonable however I like to indulge. Spent over $160 just between me and the wifey. But I have to say it was well worth it. I love the seats.

Went for my sons graduation, great food and atmosphere. They are also cater to those that have celiac (gluten allergy), being very careful about how the dishes were prepared to reduce the possibility of any contamination. The great food comes at a cost.... Expect $50 per person for meal only (after taxes and mandatory service fee.)

Dropped by to have dinner. There were only three other groups besides our table, but our waiter happened to disappear. A waitress took over after waiting for 20 minutes to get our order placed. When I got my order, it was wrong and had to be taken back to get fixed. After 20 more minutes, finally got the correct order but my table was already done eating. I was too upset to finish and took it to go. Very disappointed in the lack of personal and professional service. It is a nicely located place that looks great to eat. Unfortunately this restaurants look is deceiving. Try any OTHER restaurant on main street. I will not be coming here again. Their sushi was good, but everything else was mediocre. So if you decide to come here just order sushi and drinks to not be disappointed like I was.

Went recently with large groups for dinner and lunch. People were working hard, but they just seem really understaffed. Both times parts of the order was wrong and the food took over 1.5 hours to arrive. Ill give it some time and try again later with a small group.

Was seated and waited for 30mins. No one even as much offered me a water. I finally just walked myself to the bar since I was starving. Slightly faster service there, but the ambiance was mehhh. Everything I ordered was drenched in a sweet sauce. This place has potential if they increase staff and improve service in the dining room and if they exercise some restraint on drowning all of the food in sweet sauce. It does seem like they put more energy and effort into the teppanyaki style dining on the left side of the restaurant and then only had one server for the entire right side / regular dining area of the restaurant. Not sure yet if I’d give this place a second try.

Good fun and a fun experience. They dont have a lot of options for sides, so if you are not interested in one or the other, they sort of pressure you (I dont eat mushrooms or shrimp, why do I HAVE to have one? Its a bit pricey but food is tasty.

***WARNING CONSUMER ALERT***Pleasant Hill location is charging for a filet mignon cut but providing a ribeye cut, its the old bait and switch. I know my cuts as I have been a union butcher for over 30 years. Most customers do NOT know there cuts, and are paying a premium price for a lesser cut of meat. SHAME ON YOU KOBI JAPAN. YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING FROM YOUR DISTRIBUTORS AND RIPPING OFF THE PUBLIC. We had reservations for 6:30pm on Saturday and we were asking the server at 7:35pm, when is someone coming to our table to cook? It was not until much later when someone showed up. Our appetizers were served last! I never had appetizers served last, especially when we asked several times to the chef about serving them. We will not be returning to this restaurant ever again.

We were told a Julienne steak is supposed to be cold by the owner of the restaurant.Started eating and the waitress (Mishi) placed the bill at our table. (Guess we were not going to order any more drinks). We went on a Friday at 4:30. Only two customers were there, at the sushi bar. When we asked for a table the lady got frazzled and didnt want to seat us. Another waitress seated us but said any sushi would take 35 minutes. If they were busy I could understand but this seemed ridiculous as we could see sushi chefs at the bar. The previous two times we were there on Friday and Saturday nights and never saw it get half full. I cant wait to see what restaurant will go into this space next.

They have made changes for the better here since they first opened. We used to wonder when they would go out of business....then they started getting busier again...judging by the parking lot being full. So we tried it again. Then again...and I went twice in a week and got KOBE beef hibachi because it was so tender and delicious.Overall experience is fun and kids love it usually.Whatever they put in their butter which they cook everything with....makes the food very tasty. WE LOVE IT.Only conplaint for some chefs is that they use too much salt when cooking.Try it out.

Dont do teppanyaki if you have a small group. The chef who cooked for us was unethusiastic to say the least. The mixed tempura had undercooked sweet potatoes and carrots. The soup, which was not miso, was lukewarm. And as a finale, the chef did a free for all with the soy sauce on the fried rice. Worst of all, we went there to celebrate my daughters birthday. Needless to say, she was disappointed 😞 😔 😒.

First time having dinner here this weekend. The chef made a few mistakes (he forgot the rice for two of the folks at the table and ended up with Filet Mignon that he didnt need, which he correctly distributed to the table). Everything else was just excellent. The chefs culinary skills were top notch as well as his presentation. We will definitely be back.

The sushi was good. The decor is a little odd here. We got happy hour cocktails and they tasted like kids juice boxes mixed with cheap alcohol. We asked over and over for no onions. Our miso came out with onions and then a roll came out too with onions. The salad dressing was not the sesame ginger but an orange mainly ginger dressing, which was not good.

I came here with my sister and her family, we had an awesome time. We were seated with two other couples, our group was a larger group of 5.The place is pretty loud obviously, but the server was patient with us as we all had her repeat herself many times, poor thing.The chefs name I believe was Ken. He was very entertaining and charismatic. I can imagine it might get old cooking many of the same things over and over, performing the same tricks and routine over and over each shift.Ken seemed like he was actually enjoying himself and we all had more fun because of it. He was totally funny, too, besides the normal cheesy jokes.Food was bomb dot com and the mango margarita we got was amazing.Definitely will go again when Im in the area.

I eat at a lot of nice Bay Area sushi restaurants regularly. Here are my thoughts: This is not a place for people who like high quality sushi. This is a place where Americans should go to get California Rolls. Theres nothing wrong with this place, but I had strong doubts that the tuna I ordered wasnt a cheap impostor fish. This is the kind of place where they seem to spend money on quantity, ambiance, flair, and advertising instead of high-quality sushi.

Friendly staff, I enjoyed their Happy Hour selection. Got 3 rolls for 12 bucks. Not the fancy rolls but they will definitely satisfy your sushi fix! Really nice interior, I was digging thr vibe. So this place has changed hands and names 3 times since I have lived here. The sushi and Habachi has always been great in each owners hands. But this time they DEFINITELY got it right. They were able to secure a full liquor license with the state of CA, and the county of Alameda. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! What you see on the menu is EXACTLY what you are given. Hands down, one of the best sushi spots in Livermore. Pleasant, and fast service. DONT PASS THIS ONE UP!!!

Dinner was very good. I liked the show they put on during the making of the vegetables. I didnt like that they gave us our check before asking if we wanted desert. We ended up ordering the Green tea ice cream tempura. Since they had a family waiting for our seats, we offered to eat desert in the bar. The manager comped desert for moving. I miss the way Benihana used to do their show throughout the making of the whole meal. (Many years ago). That would be the biggest negative about all of the Tempanyaki places.

Service was not great, not packed at all with people but yet took forever to get Serviced, our food came out 1 by 1 approximately what seemed like 15min apart, our chicken teriyaki came ice cold, our miso soup was not even warm, then after $159 later we payed with card, and my wife was going to leave a tip (cash) but our server came up to me and not asked but also demanded to leave a tip for her on the card and for the people in the kitchen, not the best server she was rude and forgot to bring our orders correctly, by the time I got my food 2 of my friends had already finished theirs. The table next to us was left un-cleaned the whole time we were there but yet when we were almost finished eating, a second server came and started almost jumping our table to get our empty plates asking if were done, while still having food,, and put some of our food with a fork from one plate to the other to make room to pick empty plates,,

I have mixed feelings about giving a review here for this place because it is truly a five-star Sushi experience and yet there are very few people during lunch time here. One of the really cool things is the fact that is not crowded so if I review positively more people might be persuaded to come? Well anyway I will post this and say that this is one of the better options available for lunch time Sushi dining. There is another place in Livermore which I will not name that is more popular with the herds of people so youre eating elbow to elbow with the crowds but if you want a less crowded and more casual environment this is the place to visit.

I just had sushi, cant comment on the teppanyaki which seems to be the main attraction. Good quality, huge pieces of sashimi with excellent texture. California roll was a bit heavy on the mayo binder, decent rice though a bit overcooked. Service very friendly, and extremely friendly and understanding when I had to rush off for a family emergency.

The show was entertaining, great show but how do you forget to give everyone there food everyone is eating and you have others with a empty plate and your cleaning up and packing your utensils up. Very disappointed with that. The waitress also charged for meals that werent ordered. Definitely didnt like that. They neeed a bigger menu for the hibatchi side. Most of the food the waitress said is cooked in the kitchen. Also it was nervwrecking when the guys at the sushi bar are just sitting there staring at you while you eat. All of them just staring. Hella uncomfortable and irritating when the workers are watching you trying to enjoy your food and the show. The whole point was to enjoy the food and the show and I definitely wont be back here. First disappointed last time going.

This is the only restaurant I will go for Japanese food and sushi. I love their Teppen style food. The chefs are very talented in their craft. They always cook the food to perfection. Their fresh vegetables are the best I have ever had in any Japanese restaurant. I take my family their for their birthdays.

Kobe Japan is a solid spot with a wide range of Japanese food. Their chicken katsu is good, and I also enjoyed their sushi rolls. The restaurant is split into three parts; a regular dining area (booths), a sushi bar, and a steakhouse where patrons are seated around an open grill. The one thing I would like them to offer is a selection of small bottles of sake (approx 180ml). The service was great and the servers were very friendly. I think this is worth checking out.

This Livermore gem is a must try. If you like Benihana, you will love Kobe Japan. They have the hibachi tables, regular tables, and a very nice bar.I would recommend making reservations, specially on the weekends because they get very busy.

Slow service. Bad attitude. Ordered take out, was told order would be ready in 20 minutes. Get there 25 minutes later just to avoid a slow order. But no. Still had to wait an extra 45 minutes. And then had attitude with me for asking if my order was ready. First and last time I will ever order from this place.
