2023-07-04 19:04:41We came here on a Sunday right when they open at 10 and there was no wait for a table of 6. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the chairs, dishware, etc are nice. Service was friendly but they forgot our drinks and didnt tell us one of the dishes we ordered was out until we asked.Overall the food was very ordinary, especially for the high price. The worst dish was truffle duck fried rice- it had no flavor, the duck meat was dry and didnt taste fresh, and the rice was dry and hard. I almost sent this back. The best dish was the Peking duck which tasted great and beautifully presented on a large dish with the sauce and side veggies.

2023-05-29 15:29:26Ive been a fan of Koi Palace for many years and considered it the best dim sum in the bay area. However, this was the first time I tried Koi Palace Contempo. From the decor & menu, it seems like a modern & upscale version so I expected the service to be on par with the vibe and was disappointed that it was not better than their usual dim sum service in other locations. The food is about the same quality as other locations. The menu is a lot more limited and looks like it was selected dishes for this locale. We waited for half hour after the meal for the dessert and had to try to grab a waiter (not easy) to ask for our orders. After it finally came, I regretted we ordered those. The mango pudding looked like it was sitting in the fridge for a long time. Very rubbery and the fancy sprinkles on top was equally rubbery with no taste. The passion fruit with honey dew in sweet broth was served without honey dew, just sweet broth with passion fruit seeds. When asked, none of the servers can answer anything about any dishes and just walked away.Overall experience at this location was not a good one for me. Will not be back.

2023-09-01 06:53:21The first time I came, I was sitting in the back (not the front). And the experience was very bad. The food, the service. However, this time Im eating in the front store where they serve different kind of food. More like HK style. Dont go to the back for the dim sum/banquet location.Preserved sausage rice pot - I liked the crispy rice, may be chewy for some. But I enjoyed it.Unagi rice pot - The unagi is a little fishy.Baked pork chop over rice - The sauce isnt too bad. I especially like the fact that its pork cutlet (pork katsu). Its deep fried and more importantly, they used very good quality pork. Slightly fatty so its moist and tender. They also cut in pieces before baked. Much easier to eat.Hainan chicken rice - Very flavorful rice which is great. Deboned chicken, nice and tender and its warm. Some place serve it cold.Milk tea - was unexpectedly good.BBQ rice bowl - Some people think its not tasteful. I didnt notice but the pork was very high quality. Bit fatty and tender. The service is pretty good as well, and I felt the food is pretty good, though I found its more expensive than others but then its at a prime location. All in all, its pretty good.

2023-07-20 20:41:46Dimsum such a modern twist. They have most of the traditional dim sum options but they try to elevate it (abalone on shumai?). Their egg white dried scallop fried rice was good but overall, it was average.Came around 2:30 before they closed for lunch on a Sunday and it was empty.

2023-05-30 19:51:16A fine dim sum and Cantonese seafood tea house.Making a reservation before you go always saves your time.Monica is the receptionist. Can feel welcomed when seeing her warm smiles. 😁The level of service is different from the traditional dim sum tea house. (i.e.: not crowded and noisy) The service workers well and patiently explained their dishes. (They would go back the kitchen to find accurate answers for you.)It’s a relaxing place to enjoy a pot of fine hot tea with your lovely friends. Definitely will come back this tea house.👍👍P.S. The yummy scallion pan cake is not served any more. 🤔

2023-07-18 10:25:49The food is good, like any koi palace. Its a bit noisy since this is a smaller location. Great for a family or large group since the pricing is reasonable for the portion size. Most of the food is quite filling.

2023-10-23 18:43:04Very classy dim sum. Each dish we ordered were presented like a work of art. The host and we think the restaurant owner seated us right away and got our water and hot tea to our table as soon as possible. The man who we think is the owner made sure we were alright periodically, cracked a few jokes, and even was playful with the kids at our table. We appreciated the attentiveness and how casual he was with us. The food was all so good and we ordered enough. The interior mosaic tiles and paintings made the whole place feel classy. The waiters also would move out of the way if youre heading to the bathroom or your table. They seem very efficient.

2023-08-19 21:13:27We were one of the first customers to try out Koi Palace Contempo at their soft opening. Weve been fans of Koi Palace for a long time, so we were elated to have one close by. We also came quite often in the first few months amid COVID days to support this restaurant. They used to have wonderful hostesses and attentive staff. We enjoyed our dinners whether it was a large group for extended family celebrations, or just a simple night out.Fast forward a few months on a Saturday afternoon... Koi Contempo is a lot busier (but not overwhelmingly busy) and the hostess was down right rude and not very organized.Food is still good, prices still high. The menu has matured and includes more signature dishes. All we hope for is the return of a welcoming hostess who makes you feel special!

2023-02-26 19:47:21Every single dish was very tasty. Definitely get the: Scallion pan cake (super interesting - this is not like your ordinary scallion pancake), 5 Flavor Chinese Soup Dumpling (we ordered two, and played a game where the winner goes first to choose the dumpling flavor they wanted to try), and Coffee Ribs (its definitely an interesting try because the ribs do taste like theyve been smothered in mocha sauce). We ordered more but these definitely jump out when I try to remember the experience!
