First time there. Excellent experience. Super friendly staff and really good, affordable food! Fast service and clean. The only thing I would change is the temperature of the restaurant, It was a bit warm. So if you dont like to eat fresh hot food while sitting in a warm restaurant take it to go.

Food and service were great! We went at an odd hour and no other customers were there so we got our food within 5-10mins of ordering. The restaurant was a bit cold inside, but after eating the food we quickly warmed up. I was surprised at the size of the dishes as they were more than what I could comfortably eat in one sitting. Definitely recommend the Mapo Tofu Don dish! They give the option to add chicken or just keep it only tofu.Overall, I would 100% come back for more.

Great foods. Generous portion. Friendly and attentive service. Everything we ordered tasted good. Takoyaki, oysters, curry katsu don, stir fry udon. The oyakodon was specially enjoyable to me.

Weve been wanting to try this place for some time but finally made it after our movie. I ordered the stir fried udon noodles with beef and my wife ordered the chicken and egg rice bowl. They gave us free miso soup while we waited about 5 minutes for our food. My dish was amazing, a bit sweet, but still really good. The beef was tender and the udon noodles were perfectly chewy. My wifes rice bowl was a bit soupy but the chicken with eggs were tasty. The staff was super friendly but the place had a strong odor, like some sort of cleaner. Overall, great experience and would definitely come back. Hoping they have the Uni when I come back!

NO RAMEN!!! If youre looking for ramen, this is not the place.Id say the prices are fair and you get a good amount of food for the price. This is NOT a sit-down restaurant. This is a counter service restaurant. Theres a good amount of options for the most part.

Too much rice to chicken/egg ratio, in the oyako-don. Good flavor, but should use Japanese rice. Gyōza was good.Excellent service.

Even though this is order-at-the-counter, the staff was very attentive at the tables. I had gyudon... very good flavor, textures, and balanced proportions of the ingredients. Even had a surprise mini bowl of soup.

My wife and I had been meaning to visit this new place for Japanese katsu-don downtown, and not did they not disappoint! The owners were super nice and the katsu and oysters was freshly fried and seasoned well. Excited to come back again and try out the other items on the menu!

I really love their food! They have amazing unagi don and a wonderful Takoyaki! Ive tried many of their dishes and whenever I visit Livermore its first on my list for lunch! Its sad they got rid of their candy bowl, but thats just a personal note.

Satisfied my tempura craving when I was pregnant and post pregnancy. We love the Sukiyaki also. We always call ahead of time and our order’s ready within 10-15 mins. Friendly staff. Good food.

This is a rare place where I had only great experience both as a customer and as a Doordash driver. Their food (Katzu Curry Don is my favorite) is delicious and flavorful, portions are good, and they are so friendly to everyone and orders are prepared fast without any delays.

Janny and her staff were very nice and friendly. We ordered beef udon, tempura, unagi rice and tofu. Theres a lot of tempura in the bowl. Loved the tofu. It was crispy outside but soft inside. We still had left over to bring home. Will definitely go back to eat.

Ordering food here has become a weekly thing for us! This restaurant has welcoming laid back ambience, and serves amazing delicious Japanese food! Honorable mentions: the shrimp and veggie tempura (battered perfectly, good portions), braised pork belly, and chicken katsu and wagyu beef with curry! Even when we venture out of our usual lineup we still end up trying something that tastes great!! Their customer service is also on point, very friendly staff, always smiling and they even walk outside the check out booth and hand your to-go bag with both hands with a warm thank you.

We’ve been meaning to try this place out and am so glad we did! I spoke to a very friendly and attentive person on the phone who repeated my order on a Friday night for a family of four (entrees and appetizers) who said it would be ready in 15 minutes! Once I arrived, they were so nice and mentioned they added some complimentary miso soup. I insisted they didn’t have to, but you can tell they’re hospitality and kindness is genuine. Since everything was ready upon my arrival they offered to take it to my car. When I told them I was literally across the street they insisted to take it to my car. My family enjoyed their meal and plan to order from this genuinely nice locally owned (franchise, I believe) business again!

So glad Kokolo opened in Livermore. Its a great spot to dine in or get takeout. The food is filling and delicious. I really enjoy the curry katsu bowl, with a side of the braised pork belly, which is enough for two people! Everything Ive had here has been great, and the team there is so friendly. I cant recommend them enough.

I came here with my husband after initially avoiding it on opening day (“What’s so special about some rice bowls?” I arrogantly thought) but eventually deciding to give it a try due to all the positive reviews.Damn, I regret waiting so long to come here.The meat is incredibly tender and moist, the katsu breading is crispy and crunchy, everything is wonderfully seasoned… and the service is honestly the best service I’ve received in Livermore.Echoing other comments: staff are so incredibly friendly, we also got free miso soup, extra curry sauce AND when I mentioned I wanted the appetiser for the cabbage/veggies in the middle, they not absolutely loaded the centre with cabbage! We went back and tipped them extra after that… and promptly came back the next day for more food!So far in our 2 visits we’ve tried:- fried oysters- spring rolls- pork katsudon- chicken katsu curry don- wagyu beef sukiyaki with udon- unagi donburi (eel)Portions are very generous. We ate a LOT and still took home enough for a whole extra meal. We are going to be regulars here for sure.
