The serving size was a little bit small It was fine though Great flavor I didnt like the way they cut their egg rolls they gave us three egg rolls and cut it in half to make it look like there was more but in reality there really wasnt there are decent though service was good and our server was attentive In a good location parking wasnt a problem and the inside was nice

We’ve ordered from here during the pandemic and the food is great. Went into the restaurant for the first time about a month ago and was extremely surprised. It was even better! Needless to say, we went back again 3 days ago. Excellent. The service and the food. My ONLY issue is the tiny amount of wasabi we were given. Even when I asked for extra it was a small amount. Not a big deal and I understand a lot of people probably won’t use what’s given. I’ve learned now to always ask for extra wasabi when I order.I love this place.

I always order to go. I havent eaten inside so I dont know much about the atmosphere of the place but it seems spread out so you have personal space. The food always comes out amazing, just takes a little while, but its well worth the wait. Id recommend to eat here if you like Japanese food.

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of fish here. They had a lot of the classic rolls along with some creative spins on rolls. The garlic edamame was absolutely delicious! Service was great also. I would come back.

First time in the restaurant and my last got seated immediately after arrival which was great; however after our drinks were served 45 minutes past no one acknowledged me and my date took our order or explain the why of the delay. Horrible service myself and another table experienced the same thing picked up and left. No sense of urgency

Service was good as well as quick. Food was good and perfunctory, but nothing out of this world. Docking a point because if you order the veggie set lunch which comes with agedashi tofu, you only get age tofu, no dashi. Was served on a bed of cabbage, which though I understand where that is coming from, definitely made it weirder. I did really enjoy the tsukemono though! Note about the photo: not a full serving; Id already eaten a few pieces at that point.

Passing through and googled some sushi spots picked this place because of the reviews and pics and it didn’t disappoint. I got the crispy rice and rainbow roll and my friend got the sashimi salad and it was all 10/10. Sushi is melt in your mouth and so fresh.

We were recommended this place for their food and decor. We were too distracted to notice the decor when we went here.We had indoor dining dinner. The food was good but the price is high. We got Agedashi Tofu, Super California Roll, and Nigari sushi. I would skip the tofu. The nigari was really good with the fresh seafood. There was one fish that was really soft and sweet but we couldnt tell what fish it was...It was a good try and experience.

We were in town visiting my parents Thanksgiving week. It had been about 5 years since I’d been home and eaten at my favorite sushi place. I was pleasantly surprised with the remodel, very nice, welcoming and warm. I was happy to find that the sushi was amazing as always, the Red dragon is awesome! My husband and I ordered 4 rolls and they all were delicious. The only critiques I have was the miso soup needed to be hotter, my server warmed it up immediately after I brought it to her attention, however once our rolls were delivered she never came back. Which was not a problem, because all was good, except we would have liked a drink refill and we had to flag down another server for our check. I will definitely be going back, hopefully sooner then 5 years. Great atmosphere and awesome flavorful and fresh sushi! Definitely recommend!

No other Sushi place has beatin this Great Secret Delicious Sushi Restaurant in Salinas in all places. BEST in variety and Freshness. My Favorite is the Raider w/ extra sauce and Macadamia nuts and Chad Roll. Soup and Salad is fresh.Highly Recommend this great spot for Sushi, forget Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur.. You want Sushi Kokorro in Salinas has it.

Tried the Curry ramen for the first time and it was good. Friends enjoyed their sushi rolls and ramen as well. We were the first customers when they opened and I saw the 2 staffs looked at each other as if they were annoyed. Lol

The service was horrible! I understood there was a wait time to be seated but once seated it took them more then 20 mins to take our order, after we had seen other people that barely got seated after us with their drinks already in hand. Once our order was taken, it was more then 40 minutes to bring our food out. When we had notice the people sitting next to us, 20 minutes after they took our order were happily eat their food. When we had ask what the wait was, she said they were waiting on some ingredients for our sushi when the table next to us ordered the same thing. I dont know if there was favoritism with the waitresses but we shouldnt have been there for more than an hour dining there.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place because it is off Main St, but it should be on Main St, and it was delicious! The food looked really great, presentation was good and tasted even better! The service was good and the environment was chill. This place apparently had karaoke pre-covid, they should really bring it back on the weekends. I will definitely be back!

One of my favorite sushi places. Great rolls with great service. Their bento lunch box is quite the deal with a strong variety of food for a reasonable price. Potstickers were also delicious as has been pretty much everything I’ve tried. They can get busy at lunch time so plan ahead. This is a regular spot for me and will continue to be.

This is a great place to go out. I was seated quickly but the only downside was it was 20mins before a server noticed nobody began to provide us service. After that though, the service provided by our waitress was great. It seemed like everyone is provided great service and they will provide recommendations. I ordered the Chicken Terriyaki with tempura which which didnt take too long and the food was good. They have several flavors of Soju with the Green grape being the best flavor. For two people to order a full meal of food, things can out to $45. If we were not so hungry then it wouldve been only $35. Overall I would come back here again... especially if they add more Soju flavors

Service was very slow, we asked for utensils and extra dishes and the server never brought them, and didnt stop by frequently enough to even ask a second time. One in our party received his main dish before the rest of us, and it took nearly 10-15 minutes more for the rest of our food to come out. Server did seem frustrated with the speed, but didnt make an effort to help while we waited. Our water/drinks went unfilled the entire time we were there. Food was pretty good, but a little overpriced.EDIT:When we left two other member of our party covered the tip, (I believe it was $7 between the two of them on a $50 order, reasonable for bad service). I did not put a tip on my card. Just checked my CC statement and the restaurant added a nearly 5 dollar tip to my card. With the service we got, I wouldnt even consider a 5 dollar tip on a $20 order. Ill be making a complaint, and its possible it was a mistake between adding a tip to the wrong card, but overall just another negative to an overall negative experience.

It has been a few years since I have been coming to Kokoro. Though today was by far the worst experience. We were immediately sat down, but there was zero acknowledgement for 25min. Finally someone came to take our order with a terrible attitude and after bringing our food never came to the table again. After we finished our meal, she took 20 more min to bring the check. We also noticed we were missing 2 items from our order though it was on our check. Yup not coming back, miss the old staff.

Really good food and great service but a little slow on Fridays and Saturdays. Be expected to wait a little bit to be even spoken to when entering on their busy nights. I had a reservation and I had to approach someone to even get noticed and to ask about my table after waiting for 10 minutes in the front. Also a lot of their sushi has cream cheese in it, so if you dont like cream cheese your choices are slimed down a lot in their custom rolls. They still have really good food and their staff is really nice.

Kokoro Sushi is one of my favorite sushi spots hands down. Fish is always fresh, very tasty, and service is great. Not too many sushi restaurants (that I know of) have a happy hour but they do! And its great! If you like sitting at the bar, sushi chefs are laid back and fun to joke around with. Definitely a must try!

Im fine with not being greeted, but not one member of the staff let us know an estimated time or even acknowledged that we were there before we left. My favorite sushi place in town. I always try a new roll but have to say the absolute best roll Ive had thats still my favorite is the Crunch Roll! The other rolls are great too, but this place is the only place Ive enjoyed myself. The Sushi Chefs are so nice and helpful. I love to sit and watch them while they work! Very entertaining! The middle roll is the Crunch Roll. Stopped for dinner, amazing service and recommendations. Wish we were in town for another day so we could go again!

This is a friendly atmosphere with lots of smiles. The wait time is not as long as some sushi places. They have a special twist to some of the more classic rolls. Excellent hot saki available makes a great pair with an edamame appetizer. The food is amazing... I think its the first time Ive ever eaten an entire roll all at once. Highly recommend this place!

The interior of Kokoro looks WAY cool (they had Pokemon running on a huge projector on the side of the wall), awesome ambiance. 3 rolls for 12 bucks was middle of the range price for such a nice place. With how great the food was, and how nice the staff seemed to be, I WILL be returning for a sit-down meal. EXCELLENT discovery!

The waitress you seated us was wonderful though our table was not set. Our actual waiter was inexperienced. When he brought out the appetizers still no table setting so no chopsticks or napkins. My husband had to ask for chopsticks when he brought out our entrees and we waited over 5 minutes. Funny thing he only brought 1 set of chopsticks and we were a party of 4. Bad Crab. Ok Tempura.Ordered their vegetable tempura and their deep fried crab & avocado roll with unagi sauce. The crab was off, made me slightly ill if Im honest, but the tempura wasnt bad. Vegetables were firm, sauce was tasty.Edit: Everything is more expensive using Door Dash as compared to their normal menu. Theres a delivery charge, service fee, and each individual item actually costs more. Apparently this is actually super common now and while I still dont like it, I cant fault the restaurant for staying competitive.

A bangin place that gives you great food, great prices, great service, and great atmosphere. My favorite part was the call waiter system. There is a button glued to the table that makes your server materialize at your own whim. It sends a silent call with your table number and they come right away to do your bidding. I love the roasted turkey/avocado eggs benedict. It is always busy and sometimes a bit of a wait but they have coffee and water there for you. The staff is friendly, Though the food is delicious but it very often is not hot when it comes to the table. They do seasonal items based on local harvest/holidays. Kind of noisy atmosphere, hard to have a conversation. A little pricey but you leave stuffed. I like how you can adjust the portions.

Ate here before we went to watch movies. My nephew got the chicken teriyaki which he loved and now its his favorite dish. My sis and I got the Hamachi Kama, Caterpillar roll, and Saba - they were all delicious! I did ask for fresh wasabi which the ladies said they had but ended up getting the typical horseradish wasabi. That was disappointing since I was told they had but maybe they didnt know there is a difference? Overall, vibe of the place and food was great.

First sushi place I tried after moving to Salinas. The manager Ken was so gracious, came and chopped it up with us and made sure our first experience was fun. The rolls do lean more on the pricey side, but the size and quality justify the price. This place is my favorite sushi place in Salinas, I just wish the rolls I like werent also the most expensive ones on the menu!

I ordered a philly roll and one of the ngiri sushi things that places like this tend to offer. Ive eaten quite a bit of sushi in my day and this is the first time Ive ever disliked it.Philly rolls are my go-to. I love those things. Kokoros philly roll wasnt unappetizing, but the fish didnt seem to be of great quality because I couldnt really taste it.Which is basically how I felt about the ngiri as well. I didnt enjoy most of the pieces and there was even one that I felt was utterly revolting and couldnt bring myself to eat it. Ive eaten sushi likely hundreds of times and this is the first time Ive ever experienced a piece of sushi I just could not bring myself to eat. It mightve been I just didnt like that kind of fish, but Ive never had a piece of fish that was hard and crunchy like a raw onion.Even ignoring that, I didnt really enjoy the sushi from here. Most of it was neutral at best, like the philly roll, but there were a few I actively disliked so I cant bring myself to recommend this place.

If I could give negative stars I would. Watch your takeout, theyll literally give sashimi the size of a quarter, as in a coin and cant count (by design Im sure). The vegetable fried rice is in new much smaller containers for the same $11.95 and the maki rolls are like dime circumference with a slivers of cucumber, avocado, fish, etc. The california rolls arent even california rolls, theyre mayo rolls. The food is literally gross. Theyve lost our business. Also, to boot, they will lie and deny when you call them after you get your order home. Apparently nobody QCs the food before it leaves there.

We have been going to Kokoro Sushi since it opened, and were worried when ut changed ownership a few years ago. But Kokoro remains one of the best places to get sushi in Salinas and it is definitely the place to go if you want to drink some excellent sake, hot or cold, filtered or un filtered. Convenient parking is a real plus too.

Chicken teriyaki was beyond awful. It had a thick brown foul tasting sauce that was definately not teriyaki. When I complained the waiter said the thick brown goo was their homemade version of teriyaki sauce. Did the ownership of this place change? We ate here previously and it was okay but now it was almost empty on a Saturday night. I think I know why.
