I was so impressed by this place! The service was amazing, everything sounded delicious on the menu and I wanted to order it all. The kimchi is the owners special recipe and made fresh weekly! I was skeptical on the Korean and Japanese fusion but it was amazingly done. I am not from Modesto but I would drive all the way back just to have their food again. The ramen was so delicious, I absolutely loved the pork. They portion their meat by weight so you can literally have like 6-8 slices of meat depending on how they cut it. We ended up ordering the ichiraku ramen, bulgolgi ramen, kimchi takoyaki, and karage sando. Once again, I am so impressed and would definitely recommend!!

Love how they have non-pork broth options. I got the clear chicken broth which tasted great and light. And I love how they have bulgogi beef as a meat option for ramen. Super unique. Though, I would have liked it less sweet for my taste. The egg was cooked perfectly. The noodles were a bit too undercooked. I like them a dente but these were more firm. The outside looks deceiving compared to how hip the inside looks.

Such a cute spot! the staff was so nice, the atmosphere was so relaxed. the noodles had a great texture but the bowl had too much garlic in my opinion. but if you love garlic it would be perfect. the meat was nice and flavorful. the drinks were good i got a peach soda. i’ve previously had some rice bowls door dashed by them and they are seriously amazing too but a little pricey. i also tried a strawberry sando and it was soso good! thank you!

Service was awful, we ordered our food and waited close to 40 minutes to get our appetizers.As we arrived we noticed that the restaurant was busy/full, we took that as a good sign. We ordered our food and the server was nice. Slowly it cleared out and we were the only ones their with an order placed. A family of 5 arrived after us and placed their order. We noticed that the family got their appetizers first and then their food. At this point weve been waiting for quite sometime we were frustrated. Our appetizers finally arrived and then our food took another 10-15 minutes. They must have forgotten our order. The restaurant had cleared at this point so I dont know what the hold up was. Another couple had arrived and they received their food in a timely fashion. Ramen was a little cold, Takoyaki was good. But a waste of time, dont recommend!

Love this location, my go to place if Im going to eat out anymore. Food is always fantastic*, employees very friendly and helpful. Owner is a great dude too with an awesome story behind the place.*Only complaint would be, lately food hasnt been prepped as ordered. It still tastes fantastic but, consider making sure employees are writing down orders instead of trying to memorize them, seems like theres always misses when that happens.

My first time going to a Ramen restaurant. I found the store was clean and the waitress was on it. The portion of soup an meat and vegetables was more then I could eat (large portion). I added extra tofu but found I didnt have to and the soft boiled egg was perfect. My drink was refilled without having to ask. Will be eating here again.

My partner and I used to come here every week because the food was so good. However, in the past month we’ve noticed that the quality in food has gone down. Very chewy pork chasu, old soft boiled egg in the ramen, tame flavoring in the ramen, and cold spicy edamame. We’ve also noticed that all of the nice severs have left at the same time. I’m not sure what has happened but this place has gone from one of the best places to go to, in general, in the Central Valley to another mid place. I am sad to say that we won’t be coming here anymore.

Really good ramen, definitely gnna be my go to now.I got their chicken broth ramen. Its creamy(but not to creamy) and delicious. The chicken is lean and not to fatty. Noodles were nice and not soggy Their gyoza was a little to crispy for me, but it was good none the less. My girlfriend got the sandwich and she said it was smack.As for the staff, the waitress was friendly, and they played alot of anime openings so all my fellow weebs can rejoice. The wait was a little long but it was definitely worth it.

Nothing short of absolutely DELICIOUS. Today’s visit we chose the Gyoza, Tori Paitan (Chicken ramen soup), Katsu Sando and for dessert we had the strawberries and cream Sando. The gyoza is handmade from the dough to the delicious filling. Fried perfectly and oh so yummy with the dipping sauce. The Katsu Sando was a first for me and I am so happy I tried it! The pork was crispy, the sauce was yummy and the milk bread was perfect! Our ramen was everything I wanted down to the soft boiled egg and fish cake. The broth is super flavorful creamy but not too heavy. Perfect ramen even on a hot day! The strawberries and cream Sando was the PERFECT dessert for such a flavorful meal. Literally every foodie box was check for me during this meal. I’m super looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. Their staff is friendly, Fast and efficient. The environment is comforting and welcoming. The Decour is right on point. Good job everyone keep it going!

I ordered a katsu sandwich and shoyu ramen. The ramen was a bit too heavy in sodium for my taste. It was nice and fatty and the toppings (Other than the chasu) were nice. The chasu was ok. For me, the chasu was a bit too fatty (could be because it isnt rolled) and also could use more char/cooking. Overall, this ramen was not to my taste. The sandwich was quite good but I think the katsu could use a bit more seasoning. I did enjoy the layout of the restaurant and will definitely try their other menu items.

Without the roasted tomato for the vegan Ramen, it’s just not the same experience as it used to be. The roasted tomato completed the Ramen broth. I would eat here weekly for that culinary experience, but I have not been there for months…we all want the roasted tomato back :)

This place definitely is the best ramen place in Modesto. The egg is absolutely perfect. Broth is simple, yet flavorful (highly recommend adding the sriracha mix they have).Noodles are made in house and the pork and chicken options are excellent.We also tried the strawberry Sando and it was the perfect end to a delightful meal.The staff were friendly and the atmosphere made it feel homey.We will be coming back and recommending this place to everyone!

We had a wonderful dinner here tonight. Ernie has done the ramen world a great deed! We had the Shoyu Ramen, and the Tori Paitan. Ordered the Gyoza and Edamame - both are flavorful and very tasty! We split the Egg Sando and the Katsu Sando - loved them both! Since having Ernies ramen last spring - we feel like the broth has been stepped up and noodles are on point with perfection. Congratulations on making your dream (and our dream of having great ramen in California) Reality! Chee Hoo!7/3/2022 - Another Visit!Its been 17 months since we have visited Ernie and his crew. Once again - we are totally blown away by the fabulous menu, and such fantastic food! We have the Pork Gyoza, Karrage and the special Agadashi Tofu! Sadly we wanted the Korokke, but they were sold out for the day (Im sure its because it is yet another amazing dish). I ordered the Miso Ramen with Pork Belly - and my wife had the Katsu Sando. We are so surprised by how complex and deep the broth has developed and gotten way better than even 18 months ago. The Ramen that Ernie has brought to California has grown by leaps and bounds - I did not think it could get better, but yet - I am pleased! His broth has reminded me of living in Japan many moons ago - such fantastic ramen there, but Ernie has stepped up his game yet again. Servers were great, and attentive - and Ernie took a few minutes out of his day to show me the new noodle machine. Such a fantastic machine - 120 servings in an hour and 20 minutes. We wish Ernie continued success! We also had the strawberry mochi - delicious! We will be visiting again - but not so long in between! BTW - we took a Garlic Ramen to go - to enjoy for lunch tomorrow at home! If you dont know what real Ramen is about, you are doing yourself a disservice by not paying Ernie a Visit.

Staff is really nice and helpful! 5 stars for them! So onto food, the karaage chicken is pretty bad. Old oil makes the chicken dark and tastes like it would if you dip it in hot oil. No flour which karaage usually has. Onto ramen, I got the spicy shoyu. Ive never tried shoyu cause I prefer tonkotsu which they do not have 😔. As for the shoyu, it was savory but very oily but overall tasty. Shoyu just isnt my go to type of broth. Noodles were good and felt fresh like they claim. Maybe Ill try the miso, but to me miso seems like an easy one to go with. Pretty sure its just miso soup which uses a base to make the broth. Overall, its good enough for a Modesto. Even my partner said it was better compared to a ramen restaurant in Fresno. So we got a decent one here in Modesto. Takoyaki is frozen, saw a cook pull it out of a freezer in a bag. So not a house recipe.

What a surprise to discover a simply phenomenal ramen house in Modesto! This place beats out all of the ramen houses I have visited stateside! Generous portions of protein; the most chashu pork Ive ever seen served in a ramen and blessedly fried and marinated tofu for an engaging,not bland, vegetarian option. The tamago might be the best I have EVER had. Not only good but perfectly marinated and cooked - the yoke was the exact perfect consistency! The noodles are clearly made in house, firm delightful texture! I understand the kimchi and everything else served here is also made in house.Thank you to the wait staff, cooks, and owner of this shop for the memorable meal clearly made with care, passion, and attention to every detail.

Took several minutes after being seated for someone to approach me and ask what I wanted to drink and hand me a menu. Then food took forever to come out. Noodles were hard and all stuck together. The egg was dry and half hard boiled/half soft. Dont think Ill eat here again. Ill stick with Ramen 101 in Riverbank...way better quality food and service and SOOO much faster.What Im saying is NOT false. I arrived at 12:30, and left without my food at 12:56 and said I had to leave due to having to make an appointment at 1:00. The owner told me I could take a seat at a table on the side or at the bar. I waited several minutes for the waitress ask what I wanted to drink. And I did not change my mind 3 times. Your waitress stated that I could order an item without the spice bomb which was FALSE INFORMATION!! Not me changing my mind get your facts straight!! Then once she came back and told me I could not order it without the spice bomb she suggested a similar item that did not have the spice bomb which I agreed to. So, that was ONE TIME. Then, when I came back NOBODY offered a freshly made item, I took what I was given! And the description of my food was spot on. I took pictures if you would like to shoot me an email in which I can reply and attach the pictures Ill be happy to do so. But, dont get on here and call me a liar by stating what I said is completely false.

I’m a Ramen Lover, and I tried many ramen places. I tried Ramen Konfucious 3 times already. The price acceptable for all toppings. I tried Miso ramen, and vegan ramen at the first 2 times previously. This time, My brother and I ordered 1 shoyu ramen extra egg, 1 spicy garlic shoyu ramen extra egg, 1 takoyaki, and 1 Musubi spam and tamago. I paid $63 for all of them. The takoyaki is really good. Highly recommend. Musubi is not season enough, and you should let costumers know that you put the spicy sauce on it. It’s not like the original one. After 3 times I’ve eaten here, I can say that the broth is so salty. I had tried ramen from some restaurants of Japanese chefs, and it’s not salty like this. I wish the chefs of Konfucious can make it lighter a little bit and sweeter a little bit. Honestly, my brother and I drank a whole cup of water when we just ate haft of bowl, and we had to mix a little Sprite into our bowls, so it could be less salty, so we could finish our bowls. I really hope that if I come back to your store, the broth is better. And the second thing is the service so long. I saw only one girl run around to take orders and do payments. I waited really long to get my food. I saw a woman who ordered your food on app and she came on time but still waiting more 25mins to get her son’s food. That’s bad. I hope you can find a better solution for it. That’s all my options, and I hope you can get it, so I can come back and recommend for my friends in Modesto.Thank you 😊

Not exactly sure where these rave reviews are coming from. Our food was just ok. Very tiny amount of meat in the spicy beef bowl. Sorry I did not take a picture of that one. My Katsu Sando was good. The Gyoza was not very flavorful and was overcooked. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen to go. Unfortunately, I didn’t look at it until we were in the car. A very tiny tub of broth, extremely oversalted. Very tiny amounts of Ramen, green onions, spinach, egg, and pork. Not sure why there were no mushrooms, bean sprouts, etc. Will not return. Fortunately, the waitress was sweet!!

This was my first ramen establishment. It was different but fun to try out! Its not very big but its still comfortable, the staff is super friendly and they had anime music playing.I had the Tori Paitan Ramen and it was absolutely delicious! Even though they were out of few of the items on the menu (anything miso pork catsu, tobico and fish cakes), our meal was amazing! Flavorful Ramen, perfectly spicy kimchi and classic misubi. Cute Japanese style desserts. The service was top notch: timely, friendly-polite and attentive. Prices are reasonable for the great quality of the food and service.

The people, the food, and the atmosphere was just amazing! Was greeted right when we walked in and the service was fast! The food there is just amazing! From the appetizers to the main course and the dessert was on point! My fiancée got a Garlic ramen bowl (can’t remember name) and I got a delicious egg sandwich (also can’t remember name!) everything felt fresh! I would recommend anyone to eat here.

Ramen was good, but It didnt have enough food in it. I was done in 4 bites. The rice bowl was barely any rice at all, barely a scoop. It had nothing but vegetables and 5 small pieces of meat. The kimchi did not taste like kimchi whatsoever, too sour, not enough spice. I ate Ramen elsewhere and they gave me an actual meal to eat, not like here. The food was very small portions that was made for like a kid.

This is the place Modesto needed! My friend and I ordered chicken gyoza and a bowl of the garlic shoyu ramen (each). The gyoza was perfectly crispy and the chicken and veggie filling was fresh and flavorful. This was genuinely some of the best shoyu broth I’ve had as well, umami and garlicy. The egg had the sweetness I look for in a good ramen egg and the chashu pork melted in my mouth and had a nice charred flavor. Ernie, the head chef and owner, came out and chatted with us for a bit as well, and he even let us try his homemade kimchi. Thank you guys, I’ll be back soon!

Today was our first time attending! I was not disappointed ! I loved it ! The atmosphere was cozy and felt authentic. The customer service was incredible. The girls that were working were very nice, informative and on it. The cooks even came out to say hello. I will be returning. We ordered the chicken soup ramen, chicken a spicy mayo for an appetizer and the egg sandwich as well. All was very good and alot of flavor. We also ordered the strawberry sandwich dessert 😋 which was mouth wateringly good ! Definitely recommend !

A shop that seems to have it all: great food, inviting atmosphere, and a caring staff. The karaage had an amazingly soft, but present crispy outside with the most tender chicken youd ever had- so satisfying. The Chili Garlic Edamame wound up coming home with us and Im already having it with a bowl of rice to go with all this extra flavor! My partner was raving about her Miso Ramen with half a spice bomb, so I gotta shout it out as well. I had a Kimchi Ramen with a fat spice bomb scooped in, we agreed the spicier the better and this did not disappoint. The kimchi broth alone was a nice spice, but the spice bomb created an entire symphony of other flavors. 10/10 Thank you for bringing something worthwhile to Modesto!

I’ve had ramen all over the country. From NYC to SF. And this easily stands among the best. No flavor over powers the other. Everything blends perfectly. No need for soy or any other type of additive. Each menu offering stands on its own. The pork is divine. The kimchi is addictive (don’t bother asking for recipe it’s a family secret- and I can see why). My wife and I just had a great time. On top of that the staff is great. So not only can you help a local business, you get some top shelf food and service for half the price of the Bay Area joints, and the food is better!

What a great location, the staff is friendly and efficient.Now for the real talk the Food aka Ramen:Garlic Ramen was so great and flavorful, also if My Love and I wasnt so hungry the presentation is amazing - dont go sloshing your Ramen around while going home.I had the Kimchi Ramen and the broth after I heated it up to piping hot, because Im a savage. When I poured the broth on to the Ramen it sang out in a joyful noise that only I could hear. The Ramen enjoyed the bath it was having trust me!!The flavors of both broths were so delicious!!Man oh man the Sandos what a great selection I really wish I would have had gotten the egg one but I had my fave katsu and now this I didnt wait until we got back to the hotel. I cracked that bad boy open and had a bite while it was hot & so flavorful. Ive had these before in Korea they are so great. Yes I know these are Japanese but there are places that imitate the real ones because they are so dang great!! We were very disappointed with our meals and the service. Our gyoza were quite burnt and the drinks we were given were luke warm (can of soda and costco water bottle). We were so excited for the ramen but the noodles were not done and the meat was very tough. The servers seemed overwhelmed and unsure how to handle reservations and how to turn tables. Sad to see that is what 66 1/2 turned into. I fear it wont be long until they are out as well. The owner seems to care more about having fun with his friends than running the restuarant.also a side note - during a pandemic where you shouldnt touch high traffic items- having a carpet you have to pass through to get inside the restaurant is a terrible idea...

We bought the shoyu garlic and paitan chicken Ramen. Waited 30 minutes just to get the food after pre-ordering online on a very confusing convoluted website. Theres no confirmation of date or time for pickup. Anyways after getting home and trying it the broth was rich but a bit too salty with no real depth. For the 40 dollars we spent on two bowls we only got two tiny slices of meat for each bowl. One with pork belly the other shoulder. They were overcooked and incredibly tasteless robbing the bowl of one of the most important ingredients. No Ramen staples like shiitake or bamboo shoots either. Disappointing for anyone whos even had bay area Ramen from a decent shop. Definitely not worth the premium price.

The Garlic Shoyu Ramen is very delicious, with just the right amount of salt, garlic, and other good stuff. Nothing feels too heavy in the mix of ingredients, leading to an amazing flavor mix in your mouth. The Egg Sando is a solid companion to help you soak up the broth while being a tasty sandwich in its own right. Service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is my kind of anime geeky. Overall, a phenomenal experience!

I’ve had Ernie’s ramen from the very beginning back in the ramen kit days before Konfucious Eats was a ramen shop. I’ve had all of the different broths and while they are all delicious, the Garlic Shoyu is my favorite. Perfect for this garlic lover. Today I had the Garlic Shoyu and the deluxe egg sando. The broth was balanced and flavorful and the homemade noodles and egg were perfectly cooked and delicious. Ernie’s passion for cooking and ramen sings in the quality of his work. I’ve never had a bad thing that Ernie and Konfucious Eats has put out. Congrats on the opening and will be coming back many more times!

Finally for the first time Modesto has a Ramen place that competes or dominates the Bay Area shops. Except without the traffic packed drive, and expensive parking and dining. Offering three options, one including a vegan option with tofu, yet they are all amazing. The things that they are able to come up with, things like the chicken karaage sando and the pork katsu sando, and have it be amazing from day 1 speaks volumes. You can tell the owner/chef really puts his heart into every dish that leaves his kitchen. This is near a weekly must have.

Perfect ramen in Modesto! So happy we not only have ramen, but GREAT ramen! The noodles are hand made and have the taste and chew of noodles I remember as a kid in South East Asia. And the PERFECTLY cooked soft boiled egg. The broth is perfectly balanced (not salty!) and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. We had the gyoza and chicken paitan with extra soft boiled egg.
