2024-07-05 07:17:04Great vegetarian food with lots of options. The veggie sushi was amazing since it was packed with flavor and different textures. The veggie okonomiyaki was also amazing - crispy with a lot of sauce on top. The creamy mushroom ramen was good but not the best Ive had, especially in Japan Town. Id recommend a spice level higher than 2. Service was fast and portion sizes are good, 1 entree per person is probably sufficient.

2024-02-21 05:24:07Great vibe (calm) great service, good tofu and vegan options and vegan ramen. I felt like the flavors could have been richer but when I had an issue with my order (spiciness) they fixed it immediately with me barely having to say anything.

2023-12-08 16:57:51Ku Shin Bo Japanese Restaurant is a delightful haven for those seeking authentic Japanese cuisine. 🍣 From the moment you step inside, the ambiance, decorations, and menu evoke nostalgic Japanese memories (Natsukashi). Having explored numerous Japanese eateries in SF, finding genuine flavors was a challenge until I discovered this gem. The taste here resonates with the vibrant flavors of Japanese street izakayas, truly unique and reminiscent of authentic dishes. 🇯🇵Our order included Seafood Okonomiyaki and Sushi, both of which were extraordinary. 🍱 The flavors were heightened by the delightful combination of soya sauce and wasabi, enhancing every bite. 🌶️However, the miso soup felt like an instant preparation, lacking the depth of real Japanese miso. 🍲The service here is top-notch, adding to the overall wonderful experience. 💫 Additionally, the prices wont dent your wallet. 💰 I highly recommend this place for anyone yearning for genuine Japanese cuisine thats both authentic and affordable. 🌟

2023-06-17 06:07:29Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. Its a really cool place with an extremely wide selection of options, and all of the ones I tried tasted delicious. The seating is pretty limited however, so make sure to come when it isnt crowded.

2023-10-08 04:20:15If it wasnt for being within Japan Town and getting the benefit of doubt of being authentic as well as the spillover foot-traffic, I think Kui Shin Bo would have a tough time surviving. What was really confusing about this joint was that certain dishes were completely authentic and well done, while others were bastardized with whatever pan-Asian influence. I can absolutely see that the original menu and the chef must have been Japanese but it has slowly and surely been fusioned with the chef drift. Whoever is cooking today really isnt Japanese for sure. Now for the highlight - I loved the croquette. I would have to say this was one of the best croquettes you can taste in all of SF. I just wished they had more variants. Just for this, I added a star to the food. The yakidori and the beef skewers were prepared poorly with tough cardbord like meat. The zaru soba was another shreded cardboard with senseless dipping shoyu, bland and uneventful. The mackarel dish was dry, tasteless, and souless. The okonomiyaki, although tasty, had no grace.Thankfully, the prices were reasonable for SF standards. But we wont be returning here any time soon,

2023-03-29 07:41:09Cozy Japanese restaurant in the heart of Japan town. Has 7 tables. Very small. The line to get seated moved very quickly. Food came out fast. It took about 5minutes to be seated. I arrived at 7:20. We ordered a fried appetizer which was different; takoyaki: fried batter with octopus. Tasted and felt like a cheesy consistency. Rolls were only ok. I wasn’t terribly impressed with the PinkLady roll as the crab on top was very dry. My friends volcano roll was delicious, minus more of that dried out real crab. All the fish tasted fresh. Pricey for sushi, but good sized rolls. All the ramen options looked thrilling. I’ll be back strictly to try the ramen. My friend ordered the creamy grilled chicken ramen and it did Not disappoint. Huge bowl. Tons of noodles. Silky complex broth with rich flavor. Very friendly servers.

2023-12-04 01:22:55Hands down this restaurant serves the best japanese cuisine I’ve ever experienced. The soup, sushi and meat were flavorful and the food quality really shone through. The only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is because the service was questionable. Server in the glasses seemed dismissive about questions and looked like he did ‘t want to be there. Bad service.

2023-08-18 00:02:47The food was okay but definitely not the best Japanese food we had in San Francisco.Maybe take this review with a grain of salt because we both tried the things we ordered for the first time, so we had nothing to compare them to.Okonomiyaki: I feel like I wouldn’t be a big fan of this dish no matter where I had it, but it was pretty good all things considered! 4/5Salmon Mango roll: too much cucumber in them but okay 3/5Miso soup: a bit of a small portion but it was very tasty 4/5The vibes were good and the prices were good :)

2023-05-22 04:40:42Food was good! I got the volcano roll and shared takoyaki balls! The atmosphere was decent! It was a small shop with seating for maybe 30 max. Would probably come back to try their other items. I would probably expect a wait if you came during a busier time since they have limited seating.
