This looks like a family business and I rate their services accordingly. I note that some of their food are served with take away containers and plastic cutleries, which I did not have any problem with this. The food is very authentic. Much more authentic than burmese superstar. The food is a little bit oily but I found most dishes in Mandelay Burma are the same. I like their tea leaf salad - they use a generous amount of fermented tea leafs. Their fish chowder is very delicious. I am grateful to find a decent burmese family restaurant in the bay area.

The most legit Burmese food you can get. I have had many other restaurants and they dont compare to this place. A hole in the wall gem! I love their tea leaf salad and coconut noodle soup. Theres plenty of other great dishes but those two dishes in particular are my favorite.

Very nice restaurant with home-style Burmese cooking. The Tea Leaf salad was different from what I usually see in the Bay Area, but delicious. I loved that during this pandemic, the dishes came out in to go containers, even for eat-in custoners. Simply pack up your left overers.The owners were so friendly and nice.

How excitement can turn into abject disappointment in one meal. Went in and ordered the Lamb Curry with Paratha. They served it in plastic ware. I asked for a plate. They refused to give one, stating they don’t have one to give.I turned around and saw a family of six eating in bowls. I literally asked “have I done something to offend you?” I was confused as to why they didn’t have… plates and bowls?Anyway. I asked to be rung up so I can eat at home. One star gone for poor in-restaurant experience.Now to the food.All could be forgiven if the food was good. It wasn’t. I ate a third and threw the rest.The lamb was cooked but inconsistently. Pan tossed at best versus cooked in the actual curry. It seems the gravy was added as an afterthought.The gravy was oily and under flavored, and barely constituted an ounce of the container at best. The potato seemed old and wrinkled and crumbled.The paratha was incredibly oily and doughy and felt like biting into oil, but not in a good way. There was an unnecessary heaviness to it.Lastly, the cucumber salad was insanely spicy, like “run and get some ice cream” level of heat. On a cucumber.The cucumber had more heat than the meat.The boorishly large portions of meat were a chore to eat.I absolutely love Burmese food and every Bay Area Burmese restaurant I’ve been to has been absolutely top notch, be it a fancy spot or a simple suburban one.But Kyain Kyain was such a let down.

Delicious Burmese food! You must have the tea leaf salad if you eat here. I also recommend the fish noodle soup with catfish. These dishes are so flavorful and the textures are so satisfying. Savory and refreshing at the same time!

Nice little hole in the wall serving good Burmese food. Came here with the family and they all liked it. I had the dry chicken noodle dish. Was pretty good but it was a little too much food for me. Their tea leaf salad is pre mixed which was kind of a bummer.

We ordered the curry chicken soup and the fish noodle soup and they are delicious! The soups have a special flavor that I have never tasted, super tasty. Highly recommended!

The food was OK. The service was terrible. We were server food in to go boxes. They dont even have proper cuttlery and crockery. All of this could be forgiven if the food didnt give us food poisoning. We were 6 people in the party and every single one of us got sick the next day. Vomiting and all. I had wanted to come to this place for 2 years. Glad I experienced it once so I know never to come here again.

Fantastic, Fabulous food, never had Burmese cuisine before but any food lover would just drool over the tasty stuff here, brilliant guys keep up the tasty food, and. Maintain the quality, forgot to take food pics ( busy eating ) but desert Falooda picture before it was gulped! :)

Mmmm. Its an ok restaurant. A small one with around 8 tables. Pretty mom and pop.My friend took me here and ordered a couple dishes, rice, beef with potato, and mixed noodle( see pictures). They tasted ok.....They only take credit card if its over $25 and you can really put 2 cards

Definitely worth a visit. It is a local Myanmar cuisine restaurant. The tea leaf salad was quite tasty and so were the roasted garlic noodles (which they can modify for non-meat eaters). Not a lot of vegetarian options but you can always ask them to customize. Worth the money.

Delicious Burmese food. After hearing my partner is vegetarian, the auntie behind the counter guided him in his food choice and offering to make a tofu substitute. The curry chicken was so tasty, I wish I had some right now! The fermented tea leaf salad is a delight!

Authentic Burmese in a tiny little stripmall in North Fremont. The tea salad is my favorite and I sometimes order this on a whim. Theyre consistent in their flavors, portions and service. Their dishes taste homemade and really, does it get any better than that? Its definitely a hole-in-the-wall that could easily turn into a larger establishment once word gets out!My fave dishes here:1. Tea Leaf salad2. ask for the chili paste! Its good on everything!3. Paratha lamb curry4. Yellow rice with chicken curry5. Sweet pork curry6. Really, ANY of the curries are delicious!7. Coconut riceHonorable mentions: Thai puff balls, roasted garlic noodles and pork bone soup.I still have not tried a dish here that I do not like. All of their dry noodle dishes are pretty good too. From what appears to be a small hole in the wall strip mall restaurant is a true-to-national Burmese food restaurant. Casual and comfortable dining. Easy seating and table sizes. Burmese dishes and soups. Not highly spiced (for those non-spicy people). And make your own spiciness and saltiness to your taste. Fresh foods, soups, meals at VERY REASONABLE PRICES for large servings. Try any of the many soups.

(Im Burmese)CASH ONLYYou know youre going to get authentic food when you hear Burmese spoken all across kitchen, cashier and wait staff all the way to customers.The wait staff can accommodate English speaking customers as well.The service is decent, I never had any problems here. The Aunty at the counter was hospitable, kind, and patiently efficient when serving me as a new customer. It was a chilly day and I needed nourishment to carry me over to knock out my evening tasks. I originally wanted to eat at the Korean restaurant nearby but they were only open for take-out/delivery. Im glad Kyain Kyain was there to feed my soul.I ordered a Shrimp Cake Salad appetizer and the Pork Thin Noodle Soup (no organ parts as I wanted to keep it light in flavor). The appetizer wasnt to my liking as the flavors were a bit too strong for my palette and the amount of Shrimp Cake was next to near non-existent in the dish.The highlight of my meal was the Pork Thin Noodle Soup. The broth had amazing depth of flavor and it definitely nourished my soul. I steadily took my time eating the dish and made sure to savor every bite and sip.Ill have to take my friends/family here in the near future!

Great neighborhood hole in the wall Burmese restaurant in a strip mall on Thornton Ave. Burmese Home-Style/Comfort food. Amazing such as quality restaurant exist in Fremont. Very casual, no atmosphere. Its all about the food here. Fresh, flavorful (love the spicy, flavorful Burmese seasonings) and really reasonable. Be sure to order the Yellow Rice with Chicken (curry rice with fragrant spices and juicy lightly fried chicken) and Dry Noodle with Chicken (tons of dry flaky garlic!). Cash Only.

We visited for the first time and loved all the food we tried. Pig ear salad was purely magical. We loved their version of tea leaf salad as well. THeir curries are full of flavor. You DO need to leave room for dessert, but I wont spoil it for you. All in all, wed be coming back, for sure.

I recently traveled to Myanmar while I was living in the region and thoroughly enjoyed the country and its cuisine. I was excited to try Burmese so close to where I grew up but the dishes I tried were underwhelming. Bland, lacking balance, and not at all representative to the good but simple flavors you can find in Myanmar.

My friend and I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. The restaurant is smallish, very casual and in a strip mall. The food tends to be soupy or not so soupy noodles, curry over rice or paratha. The latter is a fried savory pancake that you use to scoop up the curry that comes with it. All of the dishes we have ordered were really really tasty. The service is fine and we usually eat for less than $10/per person (not including tip). As of now, they are cash only. Beware: This place tends to induce a food coma afterwards; so if youre planning on running a marathon or finalizing your solution to cold fusion, you might have to wait until after a nap.

Ok.. where to begin.. awesome, awesome, awesome.. food is absolutely delicious.. tasty and fresh.We ordered the samosas as an appetizer. Freshly made and piping hot.. my wife ordered the curry coconut chicken noodle soup. It was amazing.. I ordered the goat curry with paratha.. was mouthwatering and simply delicious.The servings are huge.. and the prices very reasonable.Definitely going back again. Highly recommend this place if you enjoy good food. This establishment is a down to earth, no frills family run business, and is run with a huge amount of passion and love.. you know youre in for a treat when you can hear the chefs singing and laughing while preparing the food..Wonderful.. a big thumbs up from me.. 👍

This is not Rangoon Ruby, but the food is great, much better value than fancy place.We try Mohinga (fish noodle soup) at each new burmese restaurant. It was great, but not not exceptional. What blew us away were the paratha and chicken curry dishes. Definitely worth another trip to sample other dishes.

We just got takeout and for me it was a big disappointment. The paratha was incredibly oily and so was the chicken curry. The taste is ok but you cant get over all the oil on this food. So uneaessary when the seasoning is good.

First time having burmese food. Went here with a Burmese friend. Both of us absolutely loved the food. It is really very tasty. My friend said that this is really what authentic home made burmese food tastes like. Only tried the chicken dishes, but will try more the next time I visit.
