Did I ever tell u of a hidden Japanese store? They have yummy Japanese food, and a sushi maker in the back. Ive been there many times for snacks..... but I munch as soon as the door shuts behind me always forgetting to take a pic.Today I wanted to share that they have the most DELICIOUS MOCHI green tea ice cream EVER! SOFT and yummy... next time I go there Ill take pictures. Im craving it..so many times a repeat customerI finally thought of taking pictures.... but the drive home... we ate about all the Matcha KitKatsBut yeah, here u can get a big bag of Hi Chew so much better than Now or Later or Starburst candies. And Ginger Chews? Yeah they r d bomb!Got the picture of the mochi enjoy. My son drank up his coconut drinks and chowed up on the snacks so couldnt get those pics.*****Ya gotta call in because when the car shows pop up on Sunday afternoons (not sure which Sundays) but theres an amazing lineup of vintage cars. Them they make the susbi outdoors. So you gotta go!!!

My wife and I heard about this place from a cousin of mine. So we decided to give this place a shot. Im glad we did. Ive been to other sushi places that are more fancy than Kyoto gift, but not as good. I forgot to ask the persons name who prepared our food. This place is informal, but the food is great and fresh and well definitely be returning.

Went into the back part of the store and order the best sushi Ive had in a while. Awesome customer service and great experience. My whole family got to seat down and talk with the chef who kept us entertained and was very friendly. Highly recommend for a date spot.

I love this mini Japanese store. I come here for our favorite snacks for kids (sea weed, sweet crackers, mochi) and adults (variety of sake). I recently tried the poke bowl and it was so tasty. Just the right size portion and the ahi taste so fresh, i didnt need to add flavoring to the fish to eat it (like some chain places Ive been to). Ill keep coming to the little store for all our Japanese necessities.

Kyoto gift & food offers many asian treats in a small location & much better pricing than Kearney Mesa area asian stores. Get fresh sushi in the back section, freshly hand made by Chef Jeff Roberto! This is a hidden gem on Sweetwater Rd near NFCU.

This place is incredible. They walked us through all the ingredients we need to make sushi (new sushi kit novices) and then the chef actually did a tutorial while making ours. Clean and well-stocked. Super friendly!

This little place is a hidden gem. Please ask for help if youre not sure about any product. The staff is courteous and polite. Wonderful sushi offerings by a live chef. Also the place to go if you want a chunk of ahi grade tuna to make your own sashimi or poke bowl.

Kyoto Gift and Food is an interesting place! It is small, quaint and quirky! Its was awesome that they were making fresh Sushi and have yummy Japanese Osenbei and other items I could not pick up at the local Marukai or Mitsuwa. What made me laugh was all the comical t-shirts that they were selling. The one I took a picture of made me laugh the hardest!!!

My first time here and I will definitely visit again. The workers were all so friendly. I found my favorite coffee and some stuff I need for cooking. I tried their delicious decent price sushi rolls (Hawaiian roll & Philly roll) looking forward to try more sushi when I visit again :)

The guys that were working in this place were the coolest guys I have ever met. I went in looking stuff to make kimchi and got a whole history lesson. The sushi bar is what trying next. Great store with items you cant find in regular stores. Love it.

This is the place to go. Everything was fantastic and Ill definitely be going back and ordering 3x as much. We ordered a lot of Nigeria, some sushi rolls, a poke bowl and a sushi bowl and I wish I didnt have to share any because it was fire.

The little hidden gem in South Bay. Really the only place that sells what you need for japanese dishes. Also has great alcohol choices and a good food selection. Owner is super chill and the workers there are great people.

Kyoto G & F has been my family’s go to Japanese market for over 50 years.Miss shopping here since I moved years ago, but try to make time to stop in when visiting San Diego to find things I can not get where I live now.

This place is the best for getting what you need for sushi or Japanese curry. The prices are great even compares to local big chains. Such a wide variety of everything youd want as well. Was able to get siracha, two types of soy sauce, chopstick helpers, seaweed paper, mirin and miso paste.Also the sushi in the back is great.

Let say I gonna go soft on this one, they have history but... price not cheap, and sushi is a little bit not fresh but the store is small and locate at the south where not so many fancy guests gonna go by, not only that, I think the plaza real-estate they rent are also going up... the store interior are basically not built for a store but an eatery. Also I think they are the only Japanese grocery in the south, in the national city, well if you live in National city, and dont want to waste your gas driving up north... this is still not the only resort, there might be a different Asian market sell different stuff that this store have, they just not all in 1 placeUpdate: well the sushi box i just open have weird smell... drop 1 more star from 4 to 3

This was our go to Japanese store when my kids were young 30 years ago. It hasnt changed much after living in Japan for 10 years. San Diego now has a lot to offer when it comes to Japanese cuisine but Kyoto Gift & Food gives your sashimin or sushi bento a very personal touch. Still love this tiny store. 💖

Called ahead for some caterpillar rolls and was able to pick them up in 10 minutes! Very fresh and tasty, and extremely reasonable. Very personable staff and well stocked store....I couldn’t help buying some snacks and treats-yum!!!

If you are in the south bay, before trekking your way to the Kearney Mesa/ Claremont area to get your Japanese goods PLEASE stop by here first. They may have just what you need. They even have a sushi chef on staff. You just might even run into me there buying bags of goodies.

Little Japanese import store / sushi bar. I like the closeness so that I don’t need to make a trip to Kearny Mesa. A lot of stuff is cheaper than Mitsuwa as well. They got things like Natto which is a bit hard to find and seaweed salad in the fridge section that my kids love. Sushi isn’t bad either.

Not much selection compare to big Japanese groceries like Marukai, but if you live in National City or Chila Vista this small store is very close and convenient. They have the essentials you need to cook an authentic Japanese food.

A really cute and small Japanese food store, but there are still plenty of items to choose from. Its nice to have this nearby since Mitsuwa is farther north. The owners are also very nice and make the store very welcoming.

Love it that this place is in the southbay... Dont have to make the long drive from chula vista to clairmont. The inside of these shop is small but quaint, like a mom and pop shop should be. They carry lots of items you would need if cooking any japanese dish. They also prepare and sell sushi, as well as poke. Prices for the prep food is fair.
