Decent service, small restaurant with private parking area. The sauce on top of jalapeno and the volcano roll were a bit salty. The pan-fried beef ramen was partially burnt, so it tasted odd.

Kyoto Sushi is a real gem and it has been our go-to spot for sushi for a few years now. We love the laid-back, welcoming atmosphere and the fact that theyre open late is a big bonus for us.Weve had quite a few items from their menu, but our recent visit featured spicy edamame and barbecued oysters for starters. They were full of flavor and a great lead-in to the main event - the sushi. We got the Fantasy Roll and the Boxer Roll, along with an order of Salmon Toro with Crispy Spicy Garlic. As always, the fish tasted incredibly fresh and each dish had a balance of flavors that hit the spot just right.One thing that stands out about Kyoto Sushi, apart from their delicious food, is the consistency. Every time we visit, we can expect the same high-quality, tasty food. The portion sizes are perfect, leaving us satisfied without feeling overly stuffed. And, lets not forget the prices - its excellent value for money.If youre a sushi fan, or just in the mood for some great Japanese cuisine, give Kyoto Sushi a try. Theyve won us over with their consistent, high-quality food and great atmosphere. Were looking forward to our next visit already!

I’m legitimately surprised at the positive reviews. The food here is awful. I travel a lot for work and always trying new places. This was the worst ramen I’ve ever had. The broth lacked any flavor. It tasted like water. Traditionally Ramen broth is supposed to be cooked for 12 hrs+ to really intensify the flavors. There’s no way the broth in the ramen here is cooked for longer than 10 minutes. It was completely flavorless. I ended up not finishing my food which sucks because I spent quite a bit and I hate wasting food (but I couldn’t force myself to eat the rest of it)A positive about this restaurant is the items for my takeout were packed with care which I did appreciate.

My wife and I decided to give this place a try after watching a tik-tok from The Taste Duo. The establishment is a little small, but looks very nice inside. The service was very nice, cordial, and fast. We both ordered the Dinner Bento box with Salmon and mixed tempura. We also ordered the OMG sushi roll. The food was very delicious and fullfilling. I do recommend this place, but I do warn that the reason I chose 3-star for atmosphere was because it was just as hot inside as it was outside.

The food was horrible. I was starving so I still ate it,the meat was burnt, the broth had no flavor,the noodles were super dry, the boiled egg tasted as if it was atleast a month old (I did not eat the egg..) just one taste and I knew I better not eat it. The whole thing tasted as if it was cooked with nothing but salt...I love ramen but this was by far the worse experience for me having it. I called them to let them know how bad it was and all they said was thank u but thats how we cook...I will never go back and I will make sure all my friends know not to go there either...

Food and staff is great. Ive eaten sushi for a long time and can say the nigiri at this place is the best Ive ever had. Ive been to really high end, expensive sushi places before and this is the BEST. Their rolls are big and they actually prepared the sushi rice correctly. The ramen is also good and the atmosphere feels really homey. I highly recommend and shame on all those whove dined and dashed at this small establishment.

In a nutshell; one of the few establisments downtown with a dedicated parking spot next to it, so if youre looking for Japanese food and the convenience of parking downtown. This is a go.The place isnt the biggest but accomodates a good number of folks. Went on Wednesday night, wait wasnt long and got seated fairly quickly. Food is okay. Pricey a bit but the food is filling. I got an Ebeyaki which is ramen in its essence and though it wasnt the best it certainly did the trick. It was filling, came with two tempura shrimp, and was alright from first sip to last drop. get to try their sushi but maybe for a future visit. One of the few problems people will encounter downtown is sometimes (or most of the time) the parking can be a bit of a problem. Whats neat with this establishment is that they have their own parking lot next to them, so it is rather convenient. Overall okay food and availability of parking makes the place a go to for a visit.

I had reserved a table for 20 people only one night before the event. Tower Cafe couldnt accommodate us and Kyoto was only one block walking from the theater, so I was thrilled. The woman who I spoke with was so nice and exuberant! We had a nice conversation which only made me look forward to see what this restaurant was about! They were so accommodating especially when half the party didnt show up! The staff was so joyous and really added an air of home comfort to our experience! Then food service happened! Oh my goodness! We were delighted! This sushi chef is an expert! All 10 dishes, hot dishes and raw sushi came out in record time together! Also, sake was served in a timely manner! Im stoked on the place, and will be taking and referring many many friends! Love the later hours, ambience, food and especially the staff!

Very friendly staff and has its own designated parking lot. Unfortunately I could not eat two of the three things I ordered because they had tempura batter that were not disclosed on the menu. Sweet potato fries are battered and fried, Sacramento Roll has shrimp tempura which is not listed on the menu.Too risky for me as a gluten free eater so I wont be back but if you dont have allergies its a friendly place.

Food was ok. I enjoyed the sushi. The bento plates were not that great. The baked oysters with garlic sauce was ok. Soft shell crab appetizer was not satisfactory. The batter or whatever they coat the crab with is too thick and overpowering. You cant taste the crab. The service was ok. I had to wait long for my food, I understand it was pretty busy. Wife had the ramen, she said it tasted ok. She wasnt too happy with the pork on it. For our tab, we had to get up and ask for it. All in all, this place would get a four star if the food was cooked with a little more care. Tasted like they rushed the cooking. Speed versus quality.

Absolutely amazing food! We had the Land Park Roll - the tempura was phenomenal!The Miso Ramen, which is normally so basic but this was packed with flavor. And the gyoza - I like my food ridiculously hot so it could have been hotter temperature wise but it was so good.I will be back. So many times. Im excited to try some of their more elaborate dishes.ETA: we also had deep fried ice cream - Im with my 5 year old. I cannot in good conscience recommend this dish. Noone needs such a massive ball of delightful dough and strawberry ice cream. Its served in an oversized margarita -style glass.... but its bigger than a softball. The dough is pillowy and soft and the ice cream, while looking the artificial pink color, tastes like real strawberry. Unlike any deep fried ice cream Ive had elsewhere.

Zero stars if possible. Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service. Disgusting HAIR in the food. Pointed it out to the staff and owner/manager Rachel which refused to do anything about it. No replacement, no refund, no attempt to make it right. Called multiple times and went in person requesting they do something about it to make it right considering I live and work nearby and frequent local/close restaurants with zero results. This is our favorite sushi spot in Sacramento. They have the best sushi and the best prices. The staff is so friendly and remembers us when we come in. The rolls always come out very quickly with beautiful presentation. I highly recommend giving this place a try!Edit: 8 months later - we’re regulars. Andy is the best. He’ll do a Saki bomb with you - he’s the man. The Sacramento roll is delicious, btw. Also try the stuffed jalapeños!

I cant remember the rolls in order… but i know for sure my party and i got mt fuji and sacramento roll. its on the “50% off sushi rolls” page and the rolls are huge and great for the price! All of it was really good and there wasnt any fishy / seafood taste to the tuna. the takoyaki was good but there werent bonito flakes on it (not a problem). Parking can be a little iffy to find… but wont be bad if you go on a weekday :) definitely recommend this place

Prices are good. Quaint location with a parking lot which was nice to avoid the street parking on Broadway. No one took our order for half an hour. We hadnt noticed since we were catching up and then it was another half hour til we got out 4 rolls. They werent baked rolls or anything extra so that was odd It wasnt busy and they had a couple waiters. The portion size is really good especially for the price.

Its a nice small restaurant. The interior and atmosphere transports you to another world, very immersive. My favorite roll there is the Giant roll, very filling. The most alluring part of their menu is an extensive sake selection. The udon/ramen is immaculate but the only complaint is that the grill menu is very small but honestly this place is for sushi, noodles, and drinks.

We celebrated my finaces bday here and were very pleased with 1...being able to dine inside and 2 the food was delicious. We love sushi and have been to quite a few different spots. I feel like this is a hidden gem of Sacramento that definitely needs more publicity. The volcano roll and the King Kong were some of our Favorite rolls but it was alllll yummy!! The quality of the food isnt the best for a Japanese restaurant, but its pretty good, and the prices are reasonable. They have a pretty wide range of dishes too, not just sushi. They have ramen, donburi rice bowls, and more. Ive always gotten very kind and friendly service here, and that hasnt changed during the pandemic. They converted their parking lot for outdoor dining, and they put up shade and have misters, so its pretty comfortable even when its warm outside. Ive been here many times, and I will go again!

Kyoto, you never disappoint!! Our go to roll is the OMG, because it REALLY IS O.M.G...sooo GOOD!! I enjoy the simple vibe of the restaurant inside, and with Japanese cooking playing on the TV behind the Sushi Chefs, it was fun to glance up at and see the process of sushi making!! Our Waitor suggested the Giant Roll...get ready for a GIANT mouthful of YUM!! The Thai Tea was also spot on refreshing to counter the hot day outside and could actually be a dessert. Next time maybe well sit outside!!

They sell this roll named the “Lion King” and my life has changed drastically since consuming this absolute MASTERPIECE OF A ROLL. I don’t know the chefs name nor the servers but we know each other just by looking at each other and do the little head nod thing. I have eaten at Kyoto four or five times now, and always have an excellent meal experience. The service can be hit or miss, but even when it’s on the miss side, it’s still pretty good. First of all, it was a man who served me, not Crystal. Food great - watch your receipts and don’t buy their alcohol. Asked for $12 sake, he said he didnt have it - offered $15 sake instead. “Let me make sure its actually $15” then comes back and says its $24. I say no thanks. He brings it anyways. I tell him I told him I don’t want it. He adds a $14 (???) charge to the receipt anyways and it doesn’t even show up as a bar subtotal. When I tell him he made a mistake, he says “oh yeah, I’ll get rid of that”, goes to the register and laughs to the server on the register about it (Crystal).Good food doesn’t mean you can try to rip off people. 100% trying to hustle people by adding charges that they won’t notice.

Service is good. Atmosphere is nice besides the TVs which can be distracting depending on what’s playing. I regret not getting sushi or sashimi for the majority of my meal as my bento box was just ok. The chicken teriyaki was a bit chewy, the salad was ok but the dressing didn’t have as much zing to it as I’m use too. The sashimi I had though was good. The hamachi was delicious. Good prices on beers and some selected rolls.

Katsu donburi size is large for hunger guy.(can 2 people to eat) The soy sauce have some sweet and salt, that combine with sushi rice.It is simple food but very hard to do well. Dont forget eat Katsu come with rice. Overall is good cost-performance ratio for me, I give 4 star.

You need to scan the QR, then it doesnt like the browser you have and asks for a different one, then it hangs when you try to navigate through their site (without pictures of food). I lost my patience and went to a nearby restaurant with a proper menu you can flip and hold your fingers between the pages with food you like to quickly find it when the waiter comes.

Happened to be craving some sushi last night and stumbled upon this restaurant. They are currently doing 50% off on their sushi rolls. The food was amazing. A friend an I went and we ordered 2 rolls each (King Kong, 2× American Dream, and Double Salmon), appetizers (calamari and pork gyoza), and drinks. It was about $79 for the entire meal. Not too shabby and I had leftovers as well. Please do yourself a favor and try this place. You will not regret it!!

Damn good!!!!!The ramen is superb and plentiful, I can never finish my bowl (170lb man). The broth is rich and savory but best of all the choshu pork cuts are thick and FAT. Plus, it doesnt cost you too much $$$ if you want to add extras (highly recommend ordering extra pork, treat yo self!). Their sushi options are competent and the bento boxes offer plenty of good solid food. Nice!Pro tip: There is a lot more parking in the neighborhood behind the restaurant. And do keep your eyes peeled as there are quite a few travellers who walk up and down Broadway.

We used to go to Ryujin for our ramen fix and then realized we were missing out when we finally tried Kyoto! Their ramen menu and toppings are much broader and tastier. The chashu and broths were so much better and more flavorful than anywhere else— most places just make ‘em too salty. The sushi was fresh and done well and the staff were all so friendly. I can’t wait to come back to try more!

Their exterior design choice is beautiful with the dazzling mirrors, Id have to say that is what drew me to this resturant. I would love to see them match the Interior with the exterior. Its rather plain inside and not what you were expecting when you walk in. The food was OK. You can get rolls like theirs anywhere else in Sacramento. Most rolls consist of avocado, imitation crab, shrimp, cream cheese etc. Nothing special. I grabbed a plate of sashimi and it was good however I dislike my sashimi slices tasting frozen. Their fried ice cream was too thick and not enough ice cream. I hope to come back and see some improvements. Service was amazing, and I like that they have their own parking. 3 out of 5 bc I feel they can gain more business and do more if they add in some more detailed special touches!

Usually a solid 3.5. Today it is a service mess. Two of us dining. One order arrived 20 minutes before other. Had to ask 2 times for drink order. Super bad service execution. The food that did arrive was very tasty. Just get you front of house together please.I realize one star is harsh. Here, I was simply ignored. Had to wave down staff for each and every interaction. It was not busy and there were four staff visible at all times. Eating out is a luxury and minimally I want to enjoy my meal at the same time of my dining partner and not have to beg for attention from staff.

Weve found that good ramen is a rare commodity in Sacramento, but this place changes that notion for sure. 🍜 Theyre sushi is pretty good as well; however, we both got pretty bad stomach aches which could/could not have been attributed to the meal we had here. Good price for good sushi. Their donburis are good too. Waiting time for ordering ahead was crazy though, they told me over the phone my food will be ready in 30 minutes, I waited an extra 40 minutes when I got there! Usually theyre fast.UPDATE: decided not to come here anymore because I ordered online a little over an hour before closing. Then went there to pick up food 30 minutes later, they didnt confirm the order until we were there and gave them our name. They continued to seat people even 15-30 min before closing with one sushi chef who was made to push out eat-in orders. We literally waited almost 1.5 hours just watching everyone get their food. Finally got ours 30 minutes after they closed.

Tried this place after having late night craving.. sushi was good. Unsure about service it took a few minutes to even be acknowledged by the door for pick up the waiting area had about 6 people in it before anyone got helped ... personally way too crowded especially during these conditions and even without it was akward to have to shuffle around so people could squeeze by to enter and exit they should probably open up more space for take out orders. I was the 2nd person to walk in and literally the last to leave I waited 45+ mins for food when I ordered online it said 20. Even a guy that walked in to dine in had already ordered been served and was done eating before I got my food.

The worst service I have ever had. I had to order my sake three times. Finished it then started asking where the food the food was. Apparently the waiter hadnt ordered it yet. He mentioned maybe I ordered from the other waitress. I told him no, I ordered from you and had to reorder my food. My meal came out before the appetizer. Long before. Had to ask about the appetizer. My meal also didnt come with the rice it was supposed to. Come to find out when I was done that he ordered my meal as the appetizer as well. Not sure why they didnt at least come out together. The spicy beef Ramen which is usually truly excellent was not very good (the meat was grainy and tasted weird - I spit out every piece). The sushi roll was good but had too much rice on the bottom. They way they cut it would make it slightly better so it wouldn’t be so chewy. The salmon was also nothing like I have had at any sushi restaurant. I had to tear it up and it still had skin on it. Good sushi would be buttery and melt in your mouth. I will not be eating there again. I ordered two items a sake make and there sizzling beef teriyaki and it was a waste of 30 dollars. Very rude and no one ever acknowledges you it’s like they wait to see who will you stop first. Waited over 2hours for soup. I’ve picked up here as a Uber eater driver as well and same experience every time I have to wait a while and if I wait outside they won’t bring it knowing they told me to wait outside since the building is small I had to go in and then a woman rushed to pack it like she finally remembered. Food was ok. As an alternative I suggest Jensai no I don’t know or work for them just had better experience there and food was better! Avoid Kyoto unless you have hours to waste and like to be ignored!

This is a nice friendly environment. The food is great and there crispy calamari is just perfect not too hard or battery just chewy, and easy to eat also the sauce that comes with it is just splendid!! Goes well together. I know everyone says their sushi place is the best sushi place but i really think this one is special. I typically order Nigri or sashimi and Kyoto serves up cuts of fish that are just perfect. I think it even looks different than most places on things like himachi and toro. Its always is so incredibly fresh and tasty. The rolls that Ive had are also delicious. The ramen tasted really burnt and I thought it was the pork since it was burnt, but even after taking out the pork the ramen and the noodles just tasted like charcoal.I made sure to get a roll just in case the ramen sucked as it can be pretty hit or miss, but this was to no avail. The roll was described as fresh unagi, but what I received was cooked unagi in a baked roll. When I asked they said this was the item I asked for, so I tried it since it would probably be fine. It was not. The sushi roll was burnt and tasted like charcoal with an oddly sour aftertaste. Overall I rate not good.

Friendly sushi chefs and wait staff. Great happy hour that starts at 11am weekdays. Large selection of fresh fish. Pretty decent rolls. One test of the quality of a place is what they give you when you order a spicy scallop nigiri. At some places they use prepackaged stuff that is not fresh. Here they only use that for rolls, which is sort of okay. For the spicy scallop nigiri they chop up fresh scallop and mix it with a spicy mayonnaise-y sauce, which is a good sign. I have two complaints. One is that the sushi chefs, including the head chef, although they know a lot about fish, they dont know a lot about Japanese food otherwise. I asked if they could get Goma Ae on the menu, and they had never heard of it. I wondered if I was pronouncing it wrong so I described it. Never heard of it. My other complaint is that they outright dismiss the problem of many fish having an endangered status, such as they blue fin tuna they regularly serve. I think they get their knowledge about these issues from Fox News. My solutions is just not to order the blue fin tuna and let it slide, but if this bothers you you might want to avoid them.

My go to Sushi place. I am a sashimi girl, but I actually order sushi here. My Fave is the Land Park & Boxer (a Land Park with Salmon sashimi on top). They are so good my non sushi loving hubby likes their food. Small restaurant... accommodating staff... & soo good that I wrote the review knowing it may increase my wait time goin forward 😀

Terrible, I thought with the high reviews this place would be great but the service was bad, it took 90 mins to get our food and when it came it was over salted on the rolls and the fresh fish tasted far from fresh. Will never return
