This place is a hidden gem in Hayward! Very humbling place with even more humbling and kind people. The baguettes--oh, the baguettes! Let me tell you, folks. They are at the perfect crisp (but not hard to the point where it mutilates the roof of your mouth. IYKYK). They are freshly made everyday and throughout the day. The steps making them looks so meticulous to maintain consistency. I can eat these baguettes by themselves, theyre so addictive.I ordered the traditional cold cut Vietnamese sandwich (banh mi thit or sometimes called dac biet). Each bite was balanced with the crispy but soft and fresh baguettes, the savory traditional deli meats, pickled daikons, and buttery pate. Vietnamese banh mi thit just have a special place in my heart and Im thankful La Ca takes pride and passion to make it beautifully.I also got a dirty matcha which has a shot of drip coffee in it (matcha lovers, please forgive me 🙏) but Im a caffeine fiend!! So delicious with the shot of drip coffee (using the traditional Vietnamese phin filter).If youre in the area or traveling through, give them a try!

Ive been here a few times and overall Ive really enjoyed my orders and experiences. The highlight of visiting is always the Mochi Donuts. Between the Churro, Cookies & Cream, Nutella, and Fruity Pebbles it is hard to pick a favorite. Every time Ive gone they have had a new flavor to try. The Tofu Bahn Mi was also extremely delicious. I was less of a fan of the Potato Mozzarella Rice Dog, but I put that down to a personal preference. I hadnt realized it would also be sweet. I definitely plan to visit again and visit often for the donuts. Staff is always sweet, friendly, and willing to give recommendations.

Its a wonderland where French bread, mochi donuts, and – wait for it – deep-fried rice dogs (not your average corn dogs, but a rice-encased marvel) reign supreme. And oh boy, are they delicious! Sure, it might tickle your wallet a bit more than usual, but its worth it. Plus, the French bread here? Its a culinary superstar, totally outshining the old Lees sandwich joint that used to grace this spot. Get ready for a taste adventure! 🍞🍩🐶🍚🎉

Absolutely love Laca. I visit almost daily for the Vietnamese coffee. It is delicious. Many of the lunch items are good as well. The staff is super friendly. My all-time favorite coffee spot.

This is my goto for Banh Mi without having to go all the way down to South Bay. The combination Banh Mi is on point with all the right fixings, crunchy (and not too dense) bread, and a very generous size. My other favorite is the original rice dog. I havent seen rice dog anywhere else so its another reason I drive to La Ca when I have my cravings. The only downsize is that there are not a lot of seatings in the shop, so I normally get mine to go.

Yesterday i came by and paid for Nem Nuong Cuon. The cashier forgot to put it in for me. I called and said “ Oh, you forgot it here”???? Without saying Sorry . What??? You didnt put it in for me, i didnt forget it. I gave it to you to charge me. I told her ill come around 11 AM to pick up, but i was too BUSY to come by. I come again this morning which is the day after to buy more stuffs and remind them about it. She didnt tell me first until i asked. Then she told the other cashier” JUST GIVE IT TO HER “ when ANOTHER Customer there, without saying SORRY. Again, is it my fault or i’m asking you for free food? Feeling very disrespectful and disappointed for her behavior. I come here very often, even the food is little pricey, but now maybe no more.

Good sandwiches. Dirty inside and out. So, feels like not much effort is made to make the business itself feel welcoming and fresh. For a quick sandwich it is fine to pick-up.
