This is like a version of Taco Bell, but more personalized, they offer diner which means a full plate or combo, rice beans, taco/ enchinada and salad. Fountain sodas and coffee. Very young staff. You need to try it to get an opinion. 👍

We have been going to La Comida for the last 35+ years. While the ownership has changed, the food still tastes the same. And you have to love their ranch dressing! Such a tradition for our family to eat there.

My girlfriends family used to own the place, her grandfather was the founder. It was recently came under new ownership. Not much has changed, the food is still good, prices are still decent. Im usually a bean tostada kind of guy, but have been enjoying the pork tacos on my last few trips.Fast, friendly, and you can feed the family without breaking the bank.

The food is cheap and huge portions! It is a relaxed environment. Its is order up front and seat yourself style. They call you up to get the food on a tray. The food was good. If you are looking for quick, cheap, and easy, this is your place. If you are looking for flavor, presentation, and environment, dont come here. It will fill the whole crew!

Not fancy, but quick and convenient for dine in or take out. Polite staff, fresh ingredients and legendary hot sauce dressing! Well trained staff, clean and sanitary environment. Ownership is present, available and active in delivering an enjoyable experience. Would highly recommend for an affordable family meal.

They have room to improve. The iceberg lettuce salad has no nutritional value and the taco meat was very salty. It is very much cafeteria style if that is what you are looking for. Its a great hangout for groups.

A Chico Cult Classic. Its definitely not what mainstream society would refer to as authentic. It used to be that when one was running low on cash & hungry LA Comida was the place to go. Their recent price hikes are certainly disappointing. But the food remains the same. I love their beef & been tosdada with thousand island dressing. And their Chips & salsa of course. I will often take the chips and use the second half of my tosdada as dip. Its yummy!

Ive been eating here since I was a baby. I live out of town now and will drive to Chico just for their beef tostada with ranch dressing.. Make sure you get chips and salsa to take home as well. My mom moved to Texas this last year and overnighted her la comida for her birthday this year because she was missing it so much.

It has fast service, they give you big portions, can always find a table. All their food is really salty tasting to me. My boyfriend loves it and its always busy. Maybe its just me. Its also reasonable. I personally do not care for their food .

La Comida is a bonafide Chico treasure or is that a historical monument? After decades I feel I should know most of the people with gray hair I see here, but again too many decades to discern a high school alum.La Comida is a low to mid-priced Americanized Mexican food establishment. Hard to tell anymore what is authentic. I know what is, and authentic is not in Chico, but that does not mean La Comida is out of the question. I have tried a few things on the menu, and always migrate back to the taco salad or tostada with meat and beans. It is all you can eat, especially when you add in all the free chips and salsa. The awesome chips and salsa havent changed in 50 years. This feature alone puts La Comida into an upper bracket for affordable Mexican treats. No mariachi bands.

Ive have been going to LaComida for 30yrs mostly the Paradise location but occasionally this one. I recently visited the area after moving away and ultimately craving LaComida it was delicious. I joke that Ive eaten here here so much that Ive put their kids thru college, I fondly remember the original owner bussing the tables and greeting the customers, what restaurant owner does that? Ridiculously awesome prices, great food all the chips and salsa you could eat, and lightning fast service, from the super burritos, fiesta salads, taco tuesday, and hands down the most recognizable hoodys (I got 3!) La Comida always screws up order to go. it never fail. They have lost my business of going on and off for 20 plus years. I paid over $45 and this place couldn’t even add sour cream or ranch I paid for! I gave them another chance after screwing up previous to go order. There is better options and quality for the price in Chico. I am angry I spent this much money here and paid for basically beans lettuce on tortilla with skimpy amount of chicken. barely amount any cheese. And one of the girls who was making orders was gossiping about customers. No wonder why my order got messed up.

Absolutely loved it. our local la comidas closed 15 years ago and I miss it. so visiting the last one was such a treat.the restaurant was clean and the staff was fantastic.I had the super burrito and it was just as good as always.we drove 14hrs to watch the seahawks play the 49ers. and eat at la comidas.really the restaurant was full of great young people and friendly.

This is an insult to Mexican food, and the only reasoning I can gather for reviewers giving it the score that it has is because its cheap and strangely nostalgic for them. The taco shells are just like the pre-made crunchy shells you buy from the store and the meat is like microwaved ground beef, topped with pre-chopped lettuce and pre-shredded cheese, and all other customers plates had that same type of food. Dry, flavorless, hearltess, cheap, and pre-bought. If you like this place, I couldnt trust that you actually enjoy Mexican food, just the idea of it. Service was ok, and everything came out to their own standard, but being cheap doesnt make it good, and neither does growing up with it. Go to Taco Bell instead because at least they have some inspiration behind their food.

Ive been eating at La Comida since I was a child,(which is a REALLY long time!!). I loved it then, I love it now. 😀 Ive introduced many friends and family members to La Comida who then have become just as addicted to their food and their chips and salsa as I am. We moved away for several years, however, every visit we had to at least get a bucket of chips and a gallon of salsa to take home with us, usually we had to have dinner there as well. Love, love, love them!!!

Went here for dinner, got carry out. Placed the order in the restaurant and drove home, less than 5 minutes away and the food wasnt even room temperature. The Texas Taco had solidified greese and the cheese on everything was melted BUT it was hard and cold like it had all been melted a while ago. The side of refried beans had a weird taste to them also.

Bro, idk how this place is so popular. My visit tonight: go in, bunch of kids standing around talking behind counter. No greeting or anything, place my order, pick it up n drove home (maybe 3 minutes away). Food has solidified grease all up in it. If you want authentic Mexican food, this is not the place. The worker who took our order was rude, and looked like she didnt want to be there. My husband and I needed a bite to eat while we waited for our car to get fixed, so we picked this place. The portions are huge, but it doesnt look very appealing, and the taste is just okay. The only bright side was the busboy who went above and beyond to help all the customers.

Im not sure I can give this place an unbiased review because I have been coming to La Comida since I was young. It was our lunch destination after church most Sundays and definitely the.only perk about that day. My Nana enjoyed a friendship with Mr. Pavis the founder of this establishment. Now La Comida became the place to go during our high school ( broke as a joke) years and sometimes a friend would be lucky enough to be hired . When closing the restaurant, sometimes wed stay,loiter around ( help out????) and eventually someone would sing into the microphone. Yes, theres memories that have nothing to do with reviewing the food ( Paradise Senior High class of 1989).2022- finally, as Ive recently gone in for some comfort food, I was reminded that theres been a change of ownership and other things as well. The point of sale had a suggestion tip value which I added my own custom tip, in surprise. Also, the cold tostada I ordered was paired with warm beans and rice. Typically this is in box #2 so that my lettuce doesnt get warm, wilty. I havent decided if this error matters. I can always correct it by requesting my order be boxed differently.

Went here since we were in Chico and I hadnt had this place since they left Redding CA in the 90s I think it was????Anyway I remember the chips and salsa being grab as you go but looks like times have changed since a server brought us a squeeze salsa bottle and small serving of chips..The food was ok, you could tell it was premade and just microwaved back to hot again. It was ok and the price was right.. was less than 25 bucks for the wife and I..Would I go back? Probably not but it wasnt horrible by any means just not quite what I remembered when I was a young growing boy in Redding CA...I almost feel like giving it 2 stars but my childhood memories wont let me go that low..3stars is what it gets.

Ive put this off for too long. Theres a BIG reason this establishment has won the Cheap Eats award year after year... and the word is CHEAP. The meat is bland with very little flavor, and offered with little to no consistency inside the shells or burritos. The dishes are more than not plated sloppily depending on whos working, and the textures of the taco shells tend to fall apart at the mere touch. Bagged lettuce and cheese overwhelm anything theyre on. Im not trying to rain on any parade... Im well aware of the following this place has. I just cannot in good faith recommend this place, nor patronage this restaurant until the consistency picks-up. I had assumed that with the closing of the Paradise store, the food and service would be better...unfortunately it didnt. The only reason to go in now would be to purchase the salsa to use on your own prepared meals at home... which would probably be made cheaper than eating here.

Ive been visiting La Comida for years (25+). Its always good. What I enjoy most about it is the consistency of the dishes served. I usually get the 2 item lunch with a chicken burrito. I have them add lettuce, tomato and enchilada sauce to it. Always yummy😊. The service is prompt and courteous and the staff on the floor keep the place tidy during the busy lunch hours. Oh and...the salsa there is some of the best in town.

Weve been coming here for about a year. Its really one of the best deals in town. The first time we went I had a two item combo, cheese enchilada and chili verde burrito. It was the bomb! The green Verde sauce was some of the best ever. So I continued to order the same thing everytime, which is about every 3 weeks or so. Fast forward to May 2022. The green verde sauce is not green, its dark red/brown and tastes nothing like chili verde. It tastes more like Chili Colorado and not even as good. Something went terribly wrong and its not the same there. Did someone lose the recipe? Are they trying to save money and they are making chili verde/chili colorado sauce and trying to pass it off? So the last 4 times its been the same and they claim it has never changed. Sorry folks, it has changed. Verde means GREEN in Spanish. Please fix it, as I am not the only one who feels this way.

I went here one night with some friends and ordered the burrito and Texas taco with beans and rice on the side. The food in general did not taste good but you get a large portion of food for around ten bucks. If you like cheap food with big portions then this is your place to go, plus the service is real quick. This is also a Tex-Mex style of food so do not expect good authentic Mexican food.

I ordered food to go as I sat in the parking lot. I waited 15 minutes and went in. While I was waiting I noticed a lot of customers waiting to go in. It seems to be a popular place to eat. It was very clean and my food was ready when they said. The people working were courteous. The food I ordered was better than I expected. People always ask why I like La Comida. And its actually a long answer that very simple. First, I have known the family now for over 20 years. I started working there in 1998 and worked there for a couple years. Growing up in Chico, La Comida was definitely a staple in every familys menu. Back when I was growing up, going out to dinner was more of a treat than an expectation. And I remember going and standing in line and always hoping we would get the tables near the back because I thought those were the coolest. So once I got a job there I was ecstatic. Back then the old man was still alive and my junior was running the floor like a madman and he was amazing at it. And every single person in this town, multi-generational groups of people, all know Jr very well. Im sure you could hear the stories of how many people he has watched grow up and have kids of their own and even kids of Their Own. So today when I went in there during this quarantine to pick up my to-go order with my mask on and saw an empty a part of me was sad. But again, a familiar face. Is I walk in the manager, bill, is still there. La Comida is and always will be family-oriented. Their food is amazing. Especially for the price you pay. They are giving you good food at a great affordable price. These days when you cannot get a meal for one on a food delivery service for less than $20, I went to La Comida and I got a meal for 3 for $21.32 out the door. Probably the worst food I have ever had. Terrible restaurant, terrible service, and awful ownership. The food was gross, it tasted like it was from a can. I wish I could give this place more stars. The staff is great, and it it has a very family friendly vibe. But the food is just bland. Its semi-fast food. Compared to places like Taco Bell it is clearly superior. Compared to sit-down restaurants it is rather inferior. Bottom line: while I want to like the place, I just dont crave the food. My brain might agree to go there, but my stomach wont suggest it.

Then every time we go back to visit, we have to take in a visit to LaComida for some food to reminisce and fill our bellies.Its been consistent over the years. La comida is the place to go for Quick Service and good Mexican food at a decent price. I have been coming here since 1980 and Im impressed by the fresh ingredients, and large servings of food and the variety of Mexican dishes.When you come in look at the menu on the wall and order at the counter. You will receive a number and when your number is called come up and get your order. Have a seat at a freshly cleaned table where you will see a container of napkins and a dish of freshly made chips. Salsa is available.

Went to lunch today and not a single employee had on a mask, people are all on top of each other with nobody asking them to do otherwise, the owner is just walking through the dining room with no mask and chatting up tables like its business as usual, and the busboys clear dishes from tables then just wipe it down with a damp towel. No cleaner or anything. Im honestly surprised the health department allows them to stay open right now. Used to be one of my favorite places in town. The food is obviously microwaved but still tastes good and has good portions for the price. Just wish they cared enough to keep the clean/safety protocols in place. What really took me back is staff were not wearing masks or gloves. There is still a virus. Elders go to this restaurant all the time. Protect your customers, make them feel safe. If you dont care to get the virus,at least protect your customers from the virus. I will not be going back until staff wears gloves and masks. Sorry La Comida. I love you, but I love my family more . I had the Fiesta Taco Salad and to start with, the ground beef does not have flavor, the beans taste like canned beans, (probably are), the salad had about a pound of lettuce and they do not have a variety of salsa. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food then don’t come here. Nothing tasted homemade, including the beans. The meat was overly and unevenly spiced and the guacamole tasted like it came from the freezer. My sons quesadilla was burnt, i ordered shredded beef in my enchilada and after i received it it had ground beef and when i took it back they informed me they didnt have shredded beef.
