A friend recommended La Copine saying the food was great. That turned out to be an understatement. The food was fantastic! Every dish was flavorful and unique, with a wide variety of ingredients from all kinds of cuisines. My wife and I enjoyed our lunch so much that we went back the next day to try other dishes. Everything was good but my personal favorite was the steak sando. I miss it already!Service and atmosphere were good too.

The BEST restaurant! All the dishes we had were delicious. Our only regret was not having an unlimited capacity to eat to be able to order every item on the menu. We will be coming back for sure!

This place is absolutely fantastic! I had the chance to visit and I didnt regret it for a second. The service here is simply amazing. The waitstaff is incredibly charming, kind, and attentive.We ordered the Cheesesteak Wit and Chicken Agrodolce. I have never tasted a sandwich so delicious in my life! The beef in the Cheesesteak Wit practically melted in my mouth, and the chicken was served with a remarkably tasty cabbage accompaniment. I was left speechless! To top off our meal, we indulged in a dessert: ricotta panna cotta. It was pure delight—a perfect ending to a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommended!

Such a special experience from beginning to end. The food was exceptional, the service was delightful and incredibly fast, the restaurant owners make a point to deliver the food themselves which is such a nice touch, wonderful wine selection, and as an added bonus the prices are beyond reasonable. We had a smile on our face the entire time, thank you for such a lovely experience. We will be back!!

This is hands down one of the best restaurants in the country… it’s an experience. The somewhat remote and semi-wacky (tho just “the usual” hi-desert environs ;)) location, the smart service, but mostly the beautifully inventive and delicious twists on American classics done with love and care.I hate driving, but I will happily get in the car for this. It is a truly special place I hold dearly to my heart.During Covid they kept it going with take home meals and sangria, etc. and entertaining Instagram stories. Literally was one of the brightest spots during that time period for our family.Their authenticity and commitment are the best - absolutely love the whole team and experience.If you are within a 3 hour driving distance - I am telling you it is a must. Make it a trip by going to pioneer town too or make it a weekend and also go to Joshua tree.

We have brunch and everything was unique, fresh and tasty. We loved the fried chicken- light fry with perfect slaw and the shrimp roll. The lemon polenta cake was also just the right amount of sweet to end a meal. Make a reservation if you want to sit inside!

Best place to eat in Joshua Tree. The quality, service, food, etc rivals any of the best restaurants in New York City or Los Angeles. We loved it so much we went back two days in a row. I recommend the fried eggplant, crispy papas (they’re actually crispy) and the egg sandwich was insanely good. The wait can be around 1 hour or longer sometimes so try to call ahead and make a reservation. Or get there right at 11am when they open.

The best restaurant in the hi dessert! They allow walk-ins and it was close to a 2 hour wait. They have a great wait area where you can have drinks and you can go get your own snacks if you are waiting. The food was spectacular there. The potatoes were amazing, burger was my least favorite item because everything else was so good. Try their cider, it was nice and dry.

2/9/23: we brought our friends visiting from home (MN). The service remains top notch (our server Tiedra was friendly and courteous). I dig my Fried Jidori Chicken (the flavors meld together nicely), my wifes Green Papaya Salad could use some mints and Thai basil to kick it over the top. Our friends enjoy the Shrimp Roll, and the Vegetarian Galette Complete. The Fried Eggplant and Tomato Chutney is as good as ever, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The Lemon-polenta-almond cake, crème fraiche, raspberries was well received, the Rice pudding, coconut-orange anglaise, pepitas was refreshing. I have eaten at a lot of restaurants, and I think la copine is one of the best in the country. The atmosphere was amazing, our server was nice and informative.But the food was amazing! Everything we ate was delicious and well thought out. From the gazpacho, to the Philly and Chicken. It was all delicious and looked amazing as well.I wouldnt be surprised if this amazing Oasis in the desert got a star in the next year or two.This is a must try restaurant! Will definitely be back!

Finally made a visit here and loved it. Great house cocktails with light spritzy drinks, and the duck fat potatoes were delish. Excellent burger on a homemade English muffin with creamy kefir cheese and a spicy harissa sauce. Staff is really kind and the service is amazing, even though they stay busy. Put La Copine on your California dining bucket list! (Turns out they do accept reservations. We waited about an hour for a table for 4 on a Thursday at 2pm)

I discovered this quaint, off-the-beaten-path gem while driving the back way from Vegas to La Quinta. I had previously driven by it twice, both times wondering what it was given how busy it looked. On my latest drive down to the desert I was finally able to stop in and experience the incredible hospitality and cuisine of/at La Copine. We were pleasantly surprised that nearly all their dishes can be made gluten-free, which allowed us to share the Beets & Nectarines (the burrata was outstanding), Salmon Smorg, Sirloin Brochette (done to absolute perfection, no grissle), and Creamy Grits. We were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the ingredients, the portions, and finally the presentation. You can tell when a lot of care and attention go into a dish, and for this, the staff (including the servers) should be applauded. Overall, an excellent experience; from the service to the food, well definitely be back. Keep up the good work!

Loved the feel of this place! Cute and cozy atmosphere, you do have to go for an early dinner but its so worth it. I always say I wish there were more places you could go for dinner when you dont feel like cooking but still have it be healthy and fresh, and la copine is just that place. They have super fresh salads and veggies on the menu but they also have duck liver from the Hudson valley and fried chicken. The chocolate pudding dessert was heavenly! I would definitely make the drive out again when in Joshua tree...sure beats an overcooked mediocre hamburger and fries!

La Copine is a culinary oasis floating atop a barren desert landscape. They hands down have one of the best salads I’ve ever had in my life. The one with grapefruit and fried capers, the dressing is mind-blowing. Everything here is wonderful. I’ve tried most of the dishes and have no complaints. I recommend the salads, the flatbread, the eggplant, and the beignets! The beignets are made with rye I think, very unusual but incredible.It will probably take you a while to get seated, 20-40 min depending on the day and time you arrive. The wait is well worth it. I’ll definitely be coming back here even though I live 3 hours away.

My partner found this place and despite having to wait for about two hours on a Saturday, I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and would come back without hesitation. The service was outstanding and they let us order drinks while we waited. I had the Roasted Chicken Brochette, my partner got the Socarrat de Champiñones. We also ordered the Crispy Papas and Fried Eggplant. I really enjoyed the chicken. It was roasted perfectly, without being too dry. And the tahini, oranges, chili agrodolce and cabbage all came together to make a spicy, sweet and sour taste that was balanced just right. The eggplant was noteworthy to me. I dont usually enjoy it, but they way it was cooked here made it taste like a light and airy french fry. The tomato chutney was a nice punch of flavor to go with it. If you cant get a reservation, show up early and wait it out. There is some shade on the side and, as mentioned, you can order drinks while you wait. Be patient, and I think youll find it was worth the wait.

I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. The first time I ate here was back in 2019 for Coachella and told myself anytime I come to Coachella or anywhere in California, I will make a special trip just to eat here. They have these potatoes that are sooo delicious. I hate that they got rid of the duck fat preparation but it was just as good with their new method. Its something about this restaurant being in the middle of the dessert not surrounded by a lot of stuff that makes it so comforting. The staff make you feel very welcome and treat you like family. The best meal I had in Joshua tree. They have a lot of delicious and health options on the menu. The coconut rice pudding was a standout, but the beignets and French toast were also delicious. For a more savory dish, the Lavish toast is a nice option. I ordered the sweet potato hash, which was very good but nothing special compared to the other items. Its in the middle of nowhere which adds to the ambiance. The wait can be long because there are not a ton of tables, but they do have a cute general store you can check out while you wait. They only had one large table so we had to squeeze 6 at one of the smaller tables. This is good to know if you plan to go with a large group. You write your name on the wait list outside when you arrive.

My name was the first name on the list and I was standing by the hostess station waiting to be seated. The OWNER, the one with the La Coupine tattoo on her arm, walked up to the hostess station, threw her arms over her head and shooed me away saying “Can you go sit down in the waiting area? WE OPEN AT ELEVEN.” It WAS eleven. Then she and a waitress stood by proclaiming loudly how annoying the people waiting to dine were to them. I never said a word, all I was doing was standing and waiting to be seated. She’s a real class act.👍

I’d give it 10 stars if I could. Exceptional food. We are big foodies and the meal we had yesterday is easily hands down up there with Michelin star rated restaurants. The flavours of our beets and citrus all worked together like a symphony. The burger for our meat eater was equally enjoyed. My favorite restaurant in town! Absolutely LOVE this place 💛 Cute space with an excellent menu that changes periodically, so you have new things to try. Ive gone through the whole menu and there wasnt anything that I didnt like. I usually get the Duck Confit which is what the picture shows, and the Roasted Chicken Brochette, those are my two absolute favorites, highly recommend either one. Also the beignets and the rice pudding are an excellent touch to an already delicious meal 😋The staff is always so nice, and they always remember my lemonade drink order which is a very lovely touch 💛Highly, highly, highly recommend this place to anyone finding themselves in the Joshua Tree / Flamingo Heights area.

This is a delightful destination for extraordinary dining. Not what you would expect to find in the desert community of Flamingo Heights Heights/Landers off Hwy 247. The food was excellent and the service was attentive. The cuisine is becoming legendary and the clientele is not necessarily homegrown. Reservations are booked way in advance and highly recommend. Overall we had a great experience! But thank goodness we were not in a rush. We waited nearly 3 hours to get a table! Not sure if that is normal for this joint but it was kind of absurd. The food was definitely worth the wait (but thinking maybe being starved played a role in that). The vibe was generally very LA and lots of Silverlake-ians so be prepared, dress to impress, or not, just leaving that here. The beer they were serving was good, a nearby local brewer to my hometown of Newport Beach (brewer in Costa Mesa). Overall good food, good times, long wait, I think I’d come back but not rushing. 4 outta 5!

Great place to eat and drink in the Joshua Tree area, but before driving there, note that its about fifteen minutes from town. Would highly recommend for a date to anyone in Joshua Tree.

Love La Copine. Show up early to get a table. We get there at 10:30 AM so that we get in right at 11:00. Waits can really be long after that. The ceviche is amazing and they have a cool wine list. Service is great. Plan to sit and chill while you watch people check the sign in sheet over-and-over again to see when they might get a seat. Order another glass of wine and relish the fact that you planned ahead and got there early. I love that this gem is just 5 minutes away from our house.

We walked into this restaurant without a reservation after reading the great reviews. We put our name down on the waitlist and asked with the way timewise and the waiter said he didn’t know. We then went to the bathroom inside and while waiting in line asked the nearby waitress what her favorite things were on the menu. She Kylie replied with some suggestions and then we went outside where we double checked the wait time and the post said we were bothering him. He complained to the owner of the restaurant and then the owner rudely screen accuse us of hocking over the waiters. Absolutely shocked and disappointed we couldn’t believe how we were spoken to. This is one of those restaurants that’s always busy but carries the attitude that you should be lucky to dine with us. The owner asked us to leave so rudely it was shocking. She wouldn’t even allow us a second to explain that we weren’t talking we were just asking recommendations. The host obviously has his issues and that owner of the restaurant took his word over the customer. This is extremely insulting. Not worth the wait for this kind of attitude no matter how popular.Coming from a family of restaurant ownership we would never ever treat customers in this way and obviously the reviews have suggested the same where other people have experienced their rude attitude, just have a look on yelp and other sources, there have been many complaints of the exact rudness. The food was very good but the price was way over. $17 for a blt, $14 for a glass of $35 wine...not I guess an issue since it is a destination but it left me with the feeling of being gouged! The decor is like a 1950s highway diner which I liked. Staff very pleasant and competent. You wouldnt drive for miles out of your way if you didnt want to check it off your list. And just because its a popular spot, dont think they skimp on serving size. I would trust anything on their rotating menu. The BLT is insane, one of their most popular items. The rudest hostess I have ever encountered! Their snobby and condescending manner was appalling and because of that, I will not ever go back and will highly encourage anyone I know not to eat there. We were looking forward to a great meal after a beautiful hike. We were told to sign in and wait. And wait we did. After 30 minutes we checked on the table and were told that it would be a minimum of 1 hour but more like 2 or 2.5 hours. Yesterday, my friends and I were in a car accident right outside of the restaurant. Funny enough we were about to pull into the parking lot to each lunch here. Once seated, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service good. RUDE STAFF, TERRIBLE SERVICEI almost never post reviews. But I’m making an exception for La Copine because it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a restaurant. This isn’t a complaint about the food - which is supposed to be good - but the service.We’d booked here a long time ago because it was recommended by friends. Our table was at 2pm and we arrived on time. There was a queue to be “checked in” and we were seen by the maitre d’ about 10 minutes later (no apology for keeping us waiting).Even though there were empty tables available, she told us that we had to continue to wait to be seated because the kitchen were “too busy” for guests even to *sit down*. So we stood there in the sun, with our two small children. This was fine for a bit, but after 20 minutes my wife asked the male front of house person if we could sit down. No, we were told. It’s our policy.When we question this, telling him that we don’t mind waiting but we’d really appreciate sitting at an empty table (half an hour after our reservation - not a massive imposition, surely?).And then the front of house guy *immediately* gets defensive and shirty, telling us that if we don’t like it “we don’t have to eat here”. He threatens to get the owner. “You’re lucky you’re dealing with me,” he says, angrily. “I’m the nice one”.Sorry, but WHAT? What does he mean?Eventually he marches into the restaurant, and brings back the owner. She isn’t apologetic AT ALL. “I hear you have some problem with how we run the restaurant,” she says. Then she repeats the line: “you don’t have to eat here if you don’t want to”.So….we don’t. We walk away.Here’s the thing. We completely get that restaurants can be booked up. We wouldn’t have minded waiting at a table. In fact, if someone had been polite to us we would have been OK standing in the sun for some more time. But the attitude of the staff at La Copine is basically: “you’re lucky to be here”. Both the owner and staff treat customers like they’re doing us a favour even serving us. When a restaurant is run well, it’s a beautiful thing, with respect on both sides. But this place….not so much.So it depends. If you’re really keen on the food then give it a go (even though it’s expensive and literally by a main road: don’t come here for a good view). If good service is important to you, however, then definitely give this place a miss.TLDR: Don’t go here unless you’re prepared to stand up for up to an hour, and put up with rude, aggressive and patronising staff.

Best kept secret in the area. This menu would compete very well in a big city. Low key, home style furnishings. But the food! Menu changes often. I had a fabulous pork banh mi sandwich. Loved the atmosphere and the staff. Food was good not amazing but it really had potential. As this was there reopening I will go back and further assess the food. The eggplant needs some more seasoning but that is more opinion than anything else.

Out of the way place on CA Hwy 247, with exquisite food pairings. We tried 6 different menu items and all were unique and flavorful. Definitely planning a return visit here. If youre visiting Joshua Tree or the surrounding area definitely make time for this wonderful restaurant. The wait might be long, but its well worth it (ours was noted as 1.5 hours but only took 40 as many people dropped out). There are a few stores nearby that you can check out while you wait.We shared the mushroom toast, citrus and beets salad and crispy blackened chicken and were not disappointed. The salad was light and delicious, the toast was our favourite thing on the menu and the chicken was perfectly fried and juicy. If we could have eaten more we would have kept going through the menu. Instead, we settled on the chocolate panna cotta and lemon polenta cake which were the perfect end to a wonderful meal.On top of all this, the staff are friendly, helpful and attentive and the atmosphere is light and casual.Dont miss out!

Had the Kolsch beer, and it was a lot tastier than I expected. Staff was very friendly and I think the owner might have helped out with our table too :) Also, the prices are not bad, dont listen to the cheapskates! Its a couple dollars more a plate vs. Applebees or any other microwave-centric trash chain.

We had La Copine cater our wedding! We have never been to the restaurant itself, but Claire and Nikki were the absolute best team to work with. They went so above and beyond, its hard to describe. They felt like they were on our team to make our wedding as special as possible. I want to give them ten stars. It was divine! I had the ceviche, which was perfectly done with a good variety of textures in a well-balanced, creamy (coconut milk!) marinade. My friend had the delectable fried chicken, to die for! I also had the gluten free side bread, which I devoured. Garlicky and salty, so yum. Fine Dining in the middle of the desert. This place is fantastic. I had the pork belly bahn mi and it was delicious. Others had the shrimp, and the la copine salad both of which looked great. We sat on the patio and the view looking towards Yucca Valley of the hills and mesas is stunning. Worth the drive if you are in Palm Springs or the high desert. Also in the Area is the integratron, if you want to commune with Aliens after you eat check it out.

My last visit was on the Saturday evening of Veterans Day weekend. My brother was in from NYC and I was eager to show him Landers culinary sophistication. We arrived at 4:45 pm and were told to anticipate a 30- to 40-minute wait so we huddled by an outside heater as theres nowhere else to wait. They were very busy inside, others were waiting as well, but as 40 minutes became 90 minutes we became very cold, famished and increasingly impatient. At 2 hours, and moments before I prepared to eat my foot, we were seated! Had we been told the wait would be as much as two hours we would have gone to the 29 Palms Inn or Pappy & Harriets.As it was, Claire, the host, and her servers were and are lovely and hustled to get some food on the table. I had the beet salad and fried chicken both of which were delicious but we were nearly done before my fingers thawed. My brother had the ceviche and a salmon salad also delicious. We shared the flourless chocolate cake which I am still dreaming about days later.Will I return? Absolutely. Will I return for dinner on a holiday weekend Saturday night? Absolutely not.

Moved to flamingo heights in yucca valley from Palm sprIngs. Was dreading the 40 minute drive back to Palm Springs for a culinary upscale breakfast experience. To our surprise this little gem tucked down Old woman Springs Road in this picturesque setting of gently rolling hills and snow capped mountains with miles and miles of majestic josuah trees was a God send to us . I walked up without a reservation and ask the person behind the counter how long the wait time would be for a person of 1. This person was extremely rude and said the same as everyone else 45-60 min. Seeing I just walked up how would I know. I had the time to wait but after being spoken to so rudely I decided it wouldn’t be any better if this person was my waiter. Came here last Sunday on a date and we were both very satisfied. My girlfriend is vegan, and they have both vegan and non vegan options. The blackened chicken and the tahini sorbetta with bread pudding were divine! The almond chocolate cake is also delicious. The staff were all on point too. Homemade english muffin with homemade sausage patty. YES.Add crispy hash browns with ketchup and scallion, some East Coast coffee and either the blood orange rice pudding and some beignets and youre in business.We had the whiskey brisket sandwich too! It was amazing but super filling at 9:30 AM (I just wanted to try everything. ) You also have to try the French Toast. Its the best. Why doesnt all french toast come with apple compote?I think its really great that they leave the outside during the weekends empty so that people can have a place to sit while they wait, and since they dont fill every darn space in the restaurant with a table, everyone who dines gets their food right away, and even when its a weekend rush, the food is perfect.Wish I could go more often :)Minimal beauty with huge bathrooms, awesome tile and cool wall paper.

Oasis in the outback. Eclectic Joshua Tree reaches Landers a little known out post for good reason until now. A lot of love and care here. I tried the Thai Banh Mi. Delicious with superb bread.
