This BBQ restaurant is really good! The waiter was terrific! The theater here is an old theater but very clean. The price not bad either. I plan to go back to this place soon. Really like the area!
What a privilege to view the documentary Only In Theaters at this theater. The storytelling is superb. I highly recommend seeing it before it leaves the theaters (Currently playing (Nov 2022) at the Claremont Laemmle theater). If youre not able to see it in the theater, put it on your list to watch when it goes to streaming.The showing that I saw had a Q & A after with the President/CEO of the family-owned Laemmle independent theaters Greg Laemmle and the Director of the film Raphael Sbarge.This 80+ year-old family-run independent theater chain was originally motivated by a desire to bring art/culture, particularly foreign films to the LA county area, which were not accessible to people decades ago other than to fly to another country to view a foreign film. This family led the way for independent cinema. Their struggle to keep the business alive, especially through the pandemic is both heartwarming and heartbreaking.Beautiful film.The theater has great prices on concessions. Tickets are reasonable and the movie selection is fantastic. As an independent theater they are able to show films that you are unlikely to find in commercial theater. They are also able to support lesser known film makers by showing their films.Each theater is intimate with comfortable seating, cupholders and large clear screens and good sound quality. Friendly service and great location.I love this little theater.
This movie theater is very nice. It reminds you of back in the day. It does not have the upgraded seating or anything like that but it is very comfortable and it is in a college setting so I really enjoyed myself. My husband enjoy yourself as well.
Loved this independent theater. It reminded me of the great theaters from when I was a kid. Well cared for, neat, clean and comfortable. I especially loved the cool little snack bar. We will definitely be back ! 😀

Amsterdam was the worst movie I have ever seen. So many good actors. The trailers were good. Left after an hour.Clean bathrooms and like the smaller theaters!
This theater is really quiet usually during the weekdays and thats what I really love about it. Its a small independent theater chain and it supports local artists in the area. You can always find their artwork decorating the walls of theaters hallways and if you ask the concessions for a price quote from the artist they usually have that information if you are wanting to take one home with you. The prices for tickets are really cheap compared to the bigger theater and while the screen arent as big its always clean and the seats are comfortable and the sounds is more than adequate so Im a happy camper. The prices for snacks and popcorn are fair too. Overall I very much enjoy this theater and am a regular patron.

Great little theatre showing first run movies and arthouse cinema. Delicious, fresh popcorn. We saw a bad movie though but it didnt spoil our afternoon. Very pretty outdoor area with water garden and coffee. Please support!
This was my first time at this theater and I left with a great impression. I didnt order anything from the concession but it looked to have the basic candy/popcorn/hot dog to choose from. I was surprised that the theaters were pretty big and had a lot of seating. The seats themselves were comfortable and the floor was clean.
Great theater! Warm, inviting, intimate. It doesnt show EVERY movie that comes out, but that is also one of the things that makes it soo great. You can find films here that may not play at the bigger theaters.... For film-lovers, you have to check it out if youve never been. They also have exclusive showings and marathons every now and then!
We love this theater. Its small and a little bit hidden so there usually arent crowds. The snacks and drinks are cheaper. The employees are nice and always seem happy. I think ticket prices might be about the same as those corporate movie places or a little cheaper. Either way Laemmles is a much better experience.

This is a great small theatre. They show most major films as well as lesser known indie films so theres lots of variety and options. The theatres are always clean with comfortable seats. Its never too crowded. The bathrooms are kept very clean as well.The staff is always friendly when I go here and very helpful if I need questions answered or anything. There is a small art gallery inside as well that features different local artists and its always a treat to see whats on display. This is definitely my favorite theatre to go to.

Great place for a date night. Old school theater with smaller seating area. Doesnt get crowded very often. Shows movies from the top of the list and lots that dont make the list so expect some good independent films and documentaries.Popcorn here is not all that great. Dont use the bio-straws unless you enjoy not drinking your drink because your straw disintegrated.Interesting local art pieces in the lobby and the hallways. Many good places to eat and drink nearby. I suggest Walters on Bonita and Yale
Get the rewards card. It is definitely worth it. $30 paid for 3 of us including all the snacks and drinks. Love this place.Im glad that they reopened after pandemic. Its a great place to take the kids. I highly recommend it.
Over the years I have enjoyed going to the movie theater. They have reasonable prices. Different occasions I have come to the movie theater to purchased a advance movie ticket and I received rude behavior on getting a advance movie ticket. I have reported the incident and it hasn’t happened since then. Until recently I was purchasing a movie ticket and received rude behavior. I would of reported the incident, although it was the manager who was being rude. It was a difficult moment situation on who to report to you. Depending on their mood they can give great service or bad service. I don’t recommend going to the movie theater to see films. I recommend going to different movie theaters to see films.
This was my first time here at this theater. It was so intimate. The venue over all was great! This was a family friendly place. Employees were polite and served you with a smile. Relax for awhile and enjoy a movie.
Such a nice theater, kind of a bummer that they dont have as arthouse/indie heavy lineup as they used to, but a good fix of the aforementioned with blockbuster fare. The rewards card is nice as it makes the money you put on it go a lot further tickets-wise. comfy chairs, good popcorn, clean. iced tea tastes weird though.
This is one of the theaters in the great family-owned chain of Laemmle Theaters. We are fortunate to have it here in Claremont. There are five screens with one-#5- being very large. A couple of the other theaters are quite small but picture and sound quality are always excellent. The staff is very friendly and their prices are better than giant corporation owned theaters. They do a good job here of offering a variety of movies- some big-budget blockbusters are usually shown along with smaller, independent films. They also hold many special events (and screenings) and display art.
Im very surprised by the negative reviews. This is my favorite movie theatre. I like that its small and cozy. They have REAL butter on the popcorn. I can see a movie on opening weekend without waiting in looong lines like at the big multiplexes. Their matinees are well priced, and I have always gotten good service. The best way to enjoy this theatre is to get a Premiere card. Youll get $2 off tickets every day and 20% off concessions. This makes it especially economical when attending a matinee.
Beautiful theater, attentive staff and an excellent selection of first-run and independent films. This theater chain also supports independent filmmakers by providing venues for private screenings at very reasonable rates!
Always loved the novelty and quirkiness of Laemmle theaters. I’ve been going to this particular one for a number of years now even though I live about 20 min away. I always love supporting and watching independent film, many of which are shown at Laemmle. The seats aren’t the most comfortable but you almost never get an obnoxious audience - mostly because someone being in there under 30 is uncommon, excluding the few college students I see sometimes.Overall highly recommend for indie movie lovers and for those just trying to get away from the big theater crowds.
Great prices. They offer student discounts. You can purchase tickets online to save yourself some time. While you wait for your movie, enjoy the area !! Also if you are taking a toddler ask for the booster chair. :)
Its a terrific theater! Its clean, the Acoustics are great, and the picture is sharp and clear. Its the best deal in town for seeing movies, from the popular first runs to the off the beaten path foreign films.
I prefer this theatre over larger theatres because it isnt ever packed, the snack prices are super reasonable and the staff is very friendly. Were lucky to have such a nice theatre in Claremont. The manager, Cassie, is always nice to see as she is extremely friendly and takes care of the theatre quite well.
I had a wonderful time at Laemmle. The box office staffer was polite and he even wished me a good day as I exited the theater. Parking was nearby and plenty of eateries in the immediate vicinity. Look forward to returning. Plus, no traffic congestion!.
Always have loved coming here. Nice little theater that still has the old school going-to-the-movies vibe. My only complaint is they don’t show more of the indie movies that come out; wish they would, & not be too consumed in offering only blockbusters. Have more of a variety like you used to.
Not a bad place to catch indie films! We buy the Groupon and its very reasonable. $22 for two admissions, 2 large drinks, and a large popcorn - you cant beat that. Located in the middle of downtown Claremont this is definitely a cool place to see a movie and wander around the center for food and drinks. Of course its not top quality theater experience but hey, it does the job!
Love having a Leammle theater in Claremont. Senior Tuesday prices are very reasonable. Also, enjoy independent films shown there. Only con: seats are uncomfortable and theater screens are small.But I still go often because they offer films I enjoy and Claremont Village is convenient and enjoyable.
Cool place to see big and smaller movies. Im a bit baffled by the theater I was in as there was stairway walkway right through the middle so there were no seats directly in the center of the screen. Not a big deal though especially since I got an aisle seat that was pretty close to being dead center so that was like a great seat! Good sound. Typical Laemmle quality experience in a nice shopping area with a vegan restaurant and other hip little shops around.
Best theater around. Always clean and friendly. Best fresh popped popcorn. Prices are cheap especially afternoon and seniors.

This is a great theater for seniors. Wednesdays have special pricing. Senior deal on popcorn and soda. The real rarity is that they combine popular, trendy movies, with the artistic and socially conscious selections, offering something all the time for anyone. What a lovely setting it is in as well, surrounded by Claremonts great restaurants and shops.
Cute theatre, very small with a more classic vibe. The screen is higher than eye level for most seats (nosebleeds) and the aisles are through the middle of the rooms. Not the greatest experience for audiophiles
Great location for biking to the movies. Find independent and foreign films here, and enjoy in comfortable seats, on a not sticky floor, with clean restrooms. Linger to take in rotating art exhibits on hall walls outside restrooms.
The only place to see amazing foreign /art/ indie fare outside the immediate LA area...this chain sometimes shows films that even the other arthouse venues dont show, so 👏 to the Laemmle schedulers... people have complained of the standard old style chairs.. well, i prefer the firm seats to the new plush ones that raise your foot rest or head rest at the same time, causing a really uncomfortable visit.hopefully, the new ownership will keep it a movie venue for art foreign indie fare.
Ive been here more then a few times. Ticket prices are a little more then the avarage place, but seats are decently comfy. Snacks are priced high (arent they at all movie theatres?), but service is friendly and restrooms are kept clean. Great place for me and my friends to go once in awhile.

I always enjoy seeing movies at Laemmle in Claremont. The theatres are just the right size. Its a wonderful.local theatre and I would hate to see them go. So I go here instead of the bigger theatres.
I love this place it is one of my favorite theaters locally owned and operated. The ticket prices are a little lower than Edwards or AMC but I believe in supporting local businesses. The popcorn is very good and fair priced.
I want to support the theatre but it is urgent that the hallway carpet gets cleaned. It is very bad. Cleanliness is very important to maintain clientele.
Absolutely love this theatre. It will remind you of what it was like in the 70s and 80s before the mega sized theatres. We enjoy the downtown Claremont area to walk b around after the show. The only criticism is the parking.

The Laemmle is one of my favorite theaters because of the crowd. There usually isnt many people here, which makes my movie experience better. If youre not a fan of teenage filled theaters, this might be your spot to enjoy a film youve been looking forward to see.
Quiet little theater in the center of New Village, Claremont. Tickets arent the cheapest, but its easy to get dinner and see a show. They Also have good discount times. Good senior prices.
Great place to catch a flick. Screens a lot of foreign films, documentaries, and art house films that youll be hard-posed to catch on the big screen. Also extend the usual blockbusters, of course. Friendly staff. They let you bring in your coffee from the Coffee Bean across the way!

Love this hidden theater avoid the crowd plus they show wide, release indie & art house. Plus they serve alcohol with many food options in the close surrounding area.

We were too early for lunch locally so made it into the movies (to kill time and see GG2) with plenty of time to see movie even past the start time due to the credits.It is a quaint small but very clean theater.We were very comfty in the seats.The pop corn and drinks were not too ridiculously priced and we even got $9.00 Matinee tickets.We would return.Clean bathrooms- a bonus. I can see where the employees may get bored as it was almost empty at the 10:10 AM showing however the tickets, concessions and ticket taker were all very nice and alert. We will make a drive to this theater and plan a day in old Claremont visitingthe shops, eats and a movie.
Friendly neighborhood indie and art films theater. As they recently devote more screens to wide-releases from action and animation franchises, I am worried about their viability in the long run. Support your local art theater!

Laemmle theatre in Claremont is awesome. Very clean, comfortable seats, and the clientele is more sophisticated than your average theatre patron. They have everything from indy movies to blockbusters, and I enjoy them all. REAL butter on the popcorn, and free refill on the medium and large size!
This might be a nice little theater if it didnt have such miserable, uncomfortable seating, and had good parking. The parking is primarily on the street and shares spaces with other local businesses. Despite the drawbacks, Ive been to Claremont Laemmle a few times as this theater shows movies I not showing in more comfortable local theaters.

I like the location. I like that the front of the theater is not street front. There are many restaurants around the quad that is in front of the theater location. One can make a day or evening of going out and walk around downtown Claremont before or after the show.As far as I can tell pricing is the same at the Laemmle as any other movie establishment and the Laemmle offers quite a large showing of different movies.
Great art house theater showing films you wont find in the larger theaters but they do have a few blockbusters as well.Theaters are small but most seats are good.
This is a great venue, the prices are fair and they dont try to kill your wallet at the concession stand. The popcorn is incredible. Plus all staff have exceptional people skills.
Went to see Johnny Cash movie.The seats are ok for about 1hr.Then my lower back hurt.The floor was super sticky

I enjoy the laid-back atmosphere and pre-purchasing $7 tickets from Connexions in the Honnold Mudd Library at the Claremont Colleges. Most of the movies I go to are nearly empty after the first couple of days.No allergen-free items for sale, but the food prices are reasonable.
O.k experience but not family friendly. first poster off front lobby is of a nude woman.If you are o.k. with that; the place is clean and my ears were not ringing when I left. It is much more handicapped friendly. Arrive early if you have a wheelchair. The back row is taken fast and there isnt another place for a wheelchair to go. There is a single occupant handicap accessible restroom.
Significant savings for seniors if you use the Laemelle Premier Card and buy tickets online.
Garbage low-quality theatre showing excellent films in a charming area of Claremont. Mind you, this theatre isnt old - the owners made a conscious decision to build a terrible theatre with uncomfortable seats, limited handicap spaces (all at the back, unlike any other chain), and insufficient stadium spacing (you will be looking at the heads of people in front of you, like the days of old). Its an insult to filmgoing and we can only hope a class act like AMC comes in eventually and takes it over because the Laemmle folks seem committed to high prices and poor quality.

The theater is old, and there are only a handful of screens, but its clean and comfortable, and in a great part of Claremont. Lots of other things to do in the area.

My first time there. I liked the theater, and especially liked that there is free parking (unlike the Pasadena Laemmle.) Lots of other places to explore in the area. Ill be back.
My friend uses a wheelchair, so we needed to sit in the back row, which is supposed to be reserved for people in wheelchairs. However, all seats were taken, and not by people who were accompanying w/c users. We tried another theater, same deal. Staff told us. Yeah, those back seats are taken first. So we left.
So my family want to see Despicable Me and they want to go to the Terra Vista in Rancho Cucamonga. I talk them into going to the Laemmle in Claremont because the Laemmle has better popcorn, (real butter, not wd40)We get there just before the 4:20 showing. Now its kids movie, right? and kids like popcorn, right? There isnt any popcorn! The two idiots behind the counter cant be bothered to turn around and see if there is any popcorn??? I ask the girl if she knows who is the guru of popcorn and she doesnt get it. The guy finally wakes up, panics and burns the popcorn. They have to dump it out and start over. I am told to come back ten minutes into the movie to get our popcorn. Are you kidding me?It gets better. I call and ask for the manager and get a guy who says Im a manager. I tell him the story and he says, Im sorry about that... thats it!It is really too bad because their popcorn (when they bother to make it) really is quite good. Next time I go Ill call first and ask them if anyone is monitoring the popcorn, seriously?

My experience was not pleasant, cashier was very rude with my mother in law, all she want to know if she can purchase the senior membership and the girl answered with an attitude !!all the tickets are $8.00 several times, embarrassed for my mother in law, so she just walked out !she had no options!! anything else was ok!!

Great theater that shows both mainstream and indie movies. Main problem is the minimal seating.

This is a small gem of a theater. My only qualm is that laemmle is supposed to be about independent film and they show a lot of mainstream films here. I can see those elsewhere.
Great movie house ... saves driving to LA, lots of hard to find films ... especially on weekends when they add extra films ...

This is a good place in all, but my only complaints are that its a small, 5 movie theater and there is a limited selection of snacks.
Its okay,but to expensive.Hot dog and coke $10.00 .come on now, with the economy really bad right now....for a family outing, too expensive.Your better off renting movies.

2022-08-02 05:55:46Older theater that needs some work but it’s a lot of fun and has beautiful decor. They have lots of artwork hanging and had a ceramics corner.The seats were padded but the first chair I sat in was broken and sagged. Second was better.The concession attendant was super nice and talkative. The ticket booth attendant was playing guitar.We loved all of these small touches and will be back.

Sense of community, and art, is present throughout the theater. Really neat.Screen and audio were decent as well. Allowed me to be fully immersed in the movie.Lots of activities to do nearby within walking distance. Great spot to catch and a movie before/after grabbing a bite or shopping.

The experience is always consistent: friendly staff, delicious popcorn (with real butter!), and they dont show a million previews like AMC and Regal do. The fellow theater goers are always quiet and respectful during the movie, too. Ive never had any type of issue here. Love Laemmle!
