The food quality is excellent, and the Japanese alcohol and food menus have many items to choose from. The parking is easy to find, and the waiter and waitress are busy but friendly. The dining time is restricted for about 1.5 hours for our table.

A hidden gem. So impressed by their fresh and delectable dishes. Inexpensive, no frills but very high quality. The sashimi will melt in your mouth. Will absolutely become a regular patron here.We walked in past 8pm and waited for around 5-10mins for our table.

Leichi is one of the few genuine Japanese restaurants in the South Bay that emphasizes fresh quality ingredients and utilizes the whole Japanese palate of flavors such as shiso, ume and wasabi. I believe would be on par with top Japanese restaurants in SF, LA or any metropolitan city in the US in this price range.

This place is overpriced and overrated. I don’t understand the hype around this place. For $50+ per person, you get food that looks and tastes cheap. I don’t think the foods are authentic neither.There’s no atmosphere at all as this place is just so tiny and crowded and you can easily knock off the plates on the table next to you

Made a reservation in advance and was served right after arrival. The vibe was pretty calm.The dishes are on the smaller side, so would recommend ordering at least 1 carb based dish.They served the wrong dessert (soy pudding), but the cost was the same and it still tasted really good (my favorite from the menu now).The menu picture is lunch only.

The portion is actually pretty small. You might need to order at least 2 things to get full. I ordered a Chazuke and a grilled salmon belly (forgot to take picture) to be sorta full.The food was pretty nice, sashimi was thick! Chazuke is pretty good, though I was not expected the fish to be raw(sashimi) as well. So if you dont like raw fish (sashimi), you might want to reconsider for Chazuke or consult with the waiter to change it to cooked.

Lunch here was a great idea... They have so many different options that arent too heavy of a meal, which would help prevent a food coma.We love that they feature some sushi/raw items while still providing a full menu of cooked dishes. Super chill izakaya place!!We came right when they open and already many people waiting to be seated.The beef tongue is AMAZEBALLS here 🥹The fresh soba is always super yummy.Tako wasa also taste fresh, perfect balance of wasabi.Highly recommend this place! Attentive quick staff. This place is a gem!!! A really good one. Decent food and great taste. The food are not exotic, which you can find anywhere. However, they do it better in presentation and flavor than other places. I saw many hypes about this restaurant and was afraid my expectation was too high. However, it is totally great.Service was great too.Reservation is highly recommended before going. Otherwise you can wait for 2-3 hours.

Youre taking a huge risk coming here without one.Leichi has been around for a long time, recently renovating their space to reduce/remove their bar seating in favor of more tables.I havent had many dishes here that I didnt like. And if I didnt like it, I was just trying to be adventurous and was too weenie to go through with it. (Ex: Tako wasa)Some of my favorites include:- Fresh tofu: its like eating savory pudding 5/5- Goma tofu: dense and nutty sesame tofu. 4.5/5- Salmon and mountain yam: great if you like the slimy texture. The sauce is just flavored enough with the ingredients still coming through. 5/5- Salmon ochazuke: I love the dashi broth they provide. Because Im not the biggest fan of cooked fish, I ate the salmon first hehe. 5/5- Ebi baguette: fried shrimp paste in sliced baguette! This is so good here. 5/5- Duck dipping soba: a pretty unique dish here. 4/5- Cold soba/udon: their soba has limited quantities, but I enjoy the chewiness of the udon more! 5/5- Roasted tea panna cotta: its so good! The tea flavor is super strong. 5/5Grab a friend and get some tapas here! Parking is easy since the lot is huge and most of the other stores service morning/afternoon customers.

This is a quaint little Izakaya tucked in the corner of a larger shopping center. I am told they are one of the best lunch places in the area. I went for dinner. Food was as expected, and the atmosphere was nice. The normal stuff really shined as the best, soba noodles, fresh tofu, sliced meat.I give it 4 stars rather than 5 because they are a little understaffed for dinner. We had a reservation for 6:30pm, and when we arrived they told us we had to be out by 8pm (very short for a $50+ per person meal). They also mixed up one of our orders (ordered white tuna, served yellow tail).

Japanese tapas.The dishes are mainly fish.The taste is on the sweet and salty side.The fish is fresh and tender.Please note that it is tapas, the portion is small. You might need to order more dishes. I will say average 2-3 dishes per person is a good.Service is decent.The 4 of us is about 250, that is about 10-12 dishes I think. No alcohol for us. So you are looking at average 50-60 per person.

We were delightfully surprised by this place. All the dishes were wonderfully prepared and delicious, with an emphasis on homemade sauces and condiments. There was a 30 min. lag between dishes at one point though, probably because they couldn’t handle the influx of requests that came at last call. Dishes were a tad overpriced (in terms of price vs. quantity) even for the Bay Area.

I’m so glad to find the most excellent soba house in the bay area. They made soba every day. We could not make orders for the salmon collar and salmon belly because they were out of stock even though we were in around 6 pm. But, we could order nodoguro as a special menu and snapper head. Nodoguro was so soft and delicious even a little pricey. Don’t forget there is no free refill for ice green tea. We were charged for an Ice green tea three times😂 Every dishes were a small portion than usual. But most of the dishes were so good. This restaurant has an authentic Japanese vibe. I would like to go again!

Came here for an anniversary dinner to enjoy a kitchen omakase meal. Dishes were beautiful, thoughtfully and skillfully made, and delicious from start to finish. After being away for a year of fulltime RV travel, this was the first restaurant we went to in the Bay Area (also because they were open on Memorial Day). We made an easy online reservation day of for 9pm. Got seated right away and went to town on the menu. The 6-fish sashimi was super fresh, two orders of Uni sashimi (probably could’ve went with one since it was $35ea!!), ami ebi, steamed miso cod, udon with tempura, hamachi carpaccio - everything was so delish! Leichi never disappoints. Indoor dining seems completely remodeled as the last time we ate here was outdoors during Covid.

I have to say I am quite disappointed with the food and experience. Only 60% of the food I ordered is delicious, thats why I give a 3 star.Assorted sashimi: 7/10. The sashimi itself is great, but the quantity and presentation are hardly worth the dollar you paid.Handmade soba:3/10. The soba is quite chewy, and the dipping sauce is mediocre.Chawan Mushi:8/10. Nicely prepared and deliciousKinki Shio: 3/10. The bone is actually much more flavorful than the fish itself. The kinki tastes plain, and not fresh enough.Mushroom tempura: 7/10. Okayish, not much to talk about.Homemade tofu: 8/10. Found my little place to recharge with good food and chill vibes. 🥰 First visit but will come back. Ordered the assorted tempura and the wooden pressed salmon sushi with a side of miso soup. The salmon was so soft and fresh. Melted in my mouth. The miso soup surprised me with whole tiny mushrooms - delicious! The tempura came with some extras to flavor your dipping sauce as you like. I tried their homemade ginger ale. I’m a fan of ginger ale and really enjoyed it. I walked in after a long week at work and some housemate drama that I got dragged into. Now I am walking out feeling good and happy full. Really liked the unassuming exterior and the cozy but well designed interior. Try this place when you get a chance. Sorry no pics. 😅 I was enjoying the moment too much.UPDATE - 2nd visit 4 days after original post… Tried the home made plum soda. It was light and tasty but if you want more soda for cost, go with ginger soda. Had the miso with mushrooms and seaweed again. This time ordered the mushroom tempura which was very delicious. It costs less than assorted tempura. After that had the wood pressed salmon again. Below are pics from my dinner tonight. Only comment is that the salmon’s coloring was a brighter orange during my first trip. Yet it was still fresh and filling.

The servers were nice but my table had been overlooked a few times. The food was good at my first two visits a year ago. Recently visited twice and felt like the quality has gone downhill which is quite disappointing. Beef tongue grill tasted from fridge, not fresh. Octopus vinegar was very salty. Stew yellowtail tasted dry. Hamachi carpaccio looked like leftover fish and the sauce was not mixed well, too salty.

Walk-in, was given an hour to eat. We usually eat quickly, so it was fine. Service was a bit odd in the sense that appetizer and side menus like pickled veggies came much later during the meal. Also, whenever they brought new dishes to the table, they were awkwardly waiting, as if they expected me to clear a spot on the table for the next dish. I went initially for tempura but it was limpy and the shrimp tasted a little less done than I wouldve liked. Their duck soba was the star, though a little overpriced for the amount of duck in it. However, still great because it wasnt gamey (which duck dishes can often be, if not done right) and soba was good. Overall not sure if Id come again, maybe if I want their homemade tofu

Wagyu steak is one of the best meat I’ve ever had. Just melts in your mouth.The smoky grilled duck is also shockingly good (the smoky flavor makes the dish very unique).We also had the chawanmushi, salmon chazuke, and Hokkaido scallop, all of which are very good. The lunch menu is limited. So if you are interested in tapa, you may have to come for dinner. The place is rather small, probably only 30 seats. For Saturday lunch, half of the seats are reserved. If you come near noon, you probably need to leave your phone number, and they will text you back when seats are available, which probably around 12:30. We ordered a lunch priumbspecial which includes a grilled miso salmon, a very soft tasty egg custard, a real original tofu, 4 pieces of sashimi, one pickled small dish, one small green vegetable, one small radish beef dish. Also a grilled salmon lunch which has two pieces of beautiful salmon and three small picked dishes. We specially like the pickled burdock.

Been coming here for six years. First time back since COVID. Sadly, I had to remove a star because it has lost its intimate feel. The lighting is harsh. Cheap alcohol displays, and the floor looks dirty. They took out the prep area to add tables. Eh. Enjoyed every dish that we ordered. Yes it was expensive. Yes we left still kind of hungry. BUT each dish was very flavorful, unique, and fresh. This one here at Leichi, it didnt wow me.we ended our meal with a dessert: soba pudding dessert. this was light, not too sweet, creamy and smooth. it was super unique, never had anything like this before. i thoroughly enjoyed this dessert. i wasnt going to get anything but im glad i ended up deciding on the soba pudding. it was amazing.

I used to be dining at Leichi for celebrations and liked the food and the vibe. However, the most recent visit was pretty disappointing. The food quality is still good. But the waiter gave us attitude since we sat down, barely paid attention when we were ordering, and was pretty rude when asked for water and dessert. The biggest disappointment was in fact the total amount showed up in the credit card bill was different (higher) than what was signed on the receipt. I dont plan to go back again though it was one of my favorite spots in Santa Clara.

Leichi is definitely top tier of its Japanese cuisine class.Another little gem in the South Bay, Leichi took me by surprise. From the outside, this tiny restaurant appears unassuming, in a facelift-needing, stripmall. Once you open the door youll immediately be in the seating area. They recently remodeled the space to accommodate more tables. Still, it boasts an intimate dining experience and youll most likely have a wait around dinner time, so we often make reservations on the weekends.Service is usually fast and informative. The staff is adept with presenting and explaining all of the current specials. Come with an appetite! Weve tried at least 2/3s of the menu and have never been disappointed. Everything is exceptional, including the sake menu. The sashimi is always fresh and prime cuts. The sauces and marinades are impeccably mixed. Everything feels and tastes traditional and authentic.Some consistent stand-outs:- hamachi carpaccio- scallops- miso black cod- salmon kama (collar)- beef tongue- smoked duck- mushroom tempuraBento and noodles are often more of my lunch choices, again, all excellent.Leichi is top in its class - just had to say it one more time!

The food there is great and authentic and the service is good too. But after a few hours I had some really bad diarrhea and surprisingly so did my two friends who came along as well. Its pretty clear something to do with the food there (probably the sashimi or the cold udon). One of them was hardly able to work the next day.I called the restaurant and explained the situation to the manager. However, the manager just insisted that there is nothing wrong with their food because it happened only a few hours after dinner, it should be about 24 hours. He doesnt want to do anything about it unless we provide medical evidence showing its food poison. Which is a bit ridiculous from ours perspective. As a loyal customer who has been there a couple of times I am deeply disappointed by the way they treat us given what happened. Ive been eyeing Leichi on Yelp ever since I moved down to the South Bay. I finally made the trip a few weeks ago and was not disappointed.You can make a reservation on Yelp, which is great. The restaurant is quite small, maybe only 15-20 seats, so dont be a dummy and make a resy (TM pending)!Because we went at opening, we were able to get the freshly made tofu and one of the 10 available batches of freshly made soba. We also got the takowasa, the broiled gindara, mushroom tempura, and the strawberry panna cotta for dessert.Is it too cliche to say everything was perfect and delicious?The tofu came with the traditional toppings - soy sauce, ginger, salt, scallions, and shredded katsubushi. This is the worst Japanese Restaurant that I have ever been to. There are only less than 10 tables in the restaurant and it took our seaweed appetizer 1 hour before they served it. Another 20 minutes passed by before they served our sushi which was stuffed with wasabi and fried salmon which was so oily. The chef behind the sushi bar constantly drank alcohol that slowed down his ability to prepare the orders. One of the servers even apologized to us because of the chefs drinking habits.
