The store is organized. Vegetable are little more expensive than other Asian grocery stores. Customer service is good. Wish they keep more variety of live fishes

Ive been going to this market for sometime. Produce is fresh and prices are reasonable. The cashiers are efficient. My only complaint is when you bring your own bag, they dont put your items in the bag Other stores went back to bagging your groceries but theyve gotten used to not doing it. Even Trader Joes bags your groceries.

It is a Chinese supermarket. It has a peculiar smell, but it smells like seafood and Chinese spices, so dont worry about it. I think vegetables are fresh and cheap. I am happy for Orientals because there are ingredients from other Asian countries as well as China.

I went today to buy a fish head around 3:13pm, then I got back home and I got some smell. I thought it is normal for seafood. I put in oven for 10 mins and the rotten smell is getting stronger. I open and double check it, it is not fresh anymore. So I went back there to inform them. But they said, it is nothing to do with them and they can’t help with it anyways. Customer service is giving cold shoulder and didn’t take the responsibility for the products that they are selling.. I also learnt my lesson - good things come with good price. I also trash rest of the food I bought from there as a food safety measure coz I lost trust in their products and responsible mindset. I think it is serious food safety issue that city government can’t neglect

My go-to supermarket for buying ingredients for Vietnamese recipes. They have most things that I need here, but some notable things that they dont have are quail eggs and rau ram (Vietnamese coriander). Go to Marina Grocery if youre on the hunt for more exclusive Asian ingredients. Staff in the fish department are very friendly and efficient at cutting and cleaning fish- something that I am too squeamish to do myself.

My mother got yelled at in front of other customers 3 years ago. We decided to go again and the cashier yelled at us again for not hurrying to pay up while we were bagging our own groceries. It was nice for other customers who stood up for us. We never had these things happen to us for shopping at lions for 35 years.

Dont assume this store behaves similarly to other local stores. It doesnt care about its reputation. I bought 9 boxes of noodles from this store yesterday. The store clerk actually charged me 10 boxes. Since I had other items also, I was not aware that I had been over-charged. I found out that after arriving at home. Today, I called the store to inform its mistake, the store clerk told me that she really doesnt know if I bought 9 or 10 boxes of noodles and refused to refund the extra charge. So if you really have to go to this store, better bring your own calculator and tally it yourself on the spot.

This recommendation.The market sells not-fresh food, expired food, I think young guy vietnamese, need to training butchers against events he working long time but he don’t have experience service or polite customer.He dont care about waiting customers, when customers ask to buy meat, it has a disapproving attitude I buy food not free . I dont come back, and I advise my friends and relatives not to go to this market anymore.

Veg are fresh and lower price than other place. This is my veg go to store. Meat/seafood kind of dirty and old dont suggest from here. It got fishball hot pot spice ramen certain asian product you wouldnt find in the near area. Overall ok. But dont expect return here. It just be a waste of ur time

Mind you, Im comparing to Asian groceries in Boston. The prices are very reasonable, the store is reasonably clean if typically chaotic, but to be honest I found the variety and quality of produce unexciting. The fish and butcher areas smelled fresh and inviting. Im looking forward to exploring further in the area.

I was there to buy some dumpling wrapper. I took 7 pkts in two plastics bags of the store. While checking out one of the packet fall down from her hand and I said I will replace it. I got one and put in the bag and return to my car and saw only 6 packets. I was charged for 7 packets. Not a trustworthy store anymore.. So sad. The manager should take steps to improve. Big store in the town but lot of such bad reviews..

Great selection of food items and fresh fish. Not very customer friendly, but efficient with getting in and out of the store. Good selection of ramen and rice brands and snacks as well. Super close to Newpark mall so we usually will go to the farmers market at Newpark mall on Sunday and then head over to Lion food center for items that are not found at the farmers market. Prices have increased sharply, especially with rice and fish sauce.

Asian grocery store. But you have got to see it. The aspect ratio of the floorplan is unlike a typical grocery store. Its entertaining to see. I guess the location used to be a Marshall, Ross, or other department store. The store is wider than it is deep. Shorter than normal grocery asiles. I got a kick out of the stores novelty. (okay, maybe I am easily amused.) 😂

Its a great little shopping area. Parking is available but you may have to park some distance since theyre a lot of popular business near by. Decent price on merchandise but I did see two dead fish for sale....I feel this area needs special attention since after all your are advertising fresh fish.

The Chinese workers on the meat and fish areas are very rude with no manners at all. They see u standing there and they wont even ask if you need help. They need to be oriented why theyre working there. There was this one Mexican guy who helped me. The customer service is just terrible. Please take this as a positive to improve your customer service.

Great selection of Asian foods and live seafood. I was looking for Thai pickled garlic and Pixian Doubanjian (half the Amazon price) and of course they have them here. They also have a lot of Vietnamese herbs and, occasionally fresh pandan leaves (though not as fragrant as they should be). Lion Food Center and Marina in Union City are better options than Ranch 99 with its higher prices. Be sure to check out the bakery and Chinese BBQ restaurant in the same building.

Argh - the music here drives me crazy!!! It is loud and cacophonous (first time I used that word in a review)! And yes, like other reviewers have stated, I have smelled better supermarkets as well. The customers seem to be a bit more aggro than other supermarkets Ive been to - something about not having a concept of personal space.Located at the end of an indoor mall of sorts, Lion Supermarket has everything from seafood to rice cookers to produce. I scored some fresh green coconuts here for a little over a buck each. I bought about nine that lasted a couple of weeks.Price-wise, I find that Ranch 99 has better deals and seems more organized. I find, however, that the restaurants in this area tend to be better than the Ranch 99 in Newark. Other than that, I dont think Id go out of my way to come back.

The lion place has almost everything that comes from China, much like 99 ranch store. They have a cleaner place than 99 ranch store and just about the same price. For those who like fresh fish and crabs and cook them by yourselves, Lion is the place to go to since they have more fish and crabs and lobsters alive than 99 ranch.

All the live fish look miserable and about to float belly up. If you need weird asian goods or weird animal parts you could do worse lol. The workers there are rude. My mom asked them if there were any pork bones, instead of answer yes or no, he said the pig is yet to be slaughtered. Same thing when the person helping out with the rice bag, we wanted to know whether the crop were from last season or this season, his answer was it is already late in September already, do you think we would still have the old crop? Come on, its a yes or no question. I felt like I was being reprimanded for asking questions.

More than fortunate to live between the Lion food center and 99 Ranch in Newark.One thing I find annoying at Lion Food is the fact that cash register personnel would get mad at me everytime I pull out my phone to pay using Samsung pay. For some reason they give the impression that their payment machines would break down if I use my phone to pay.In other news, as of November 18th 2021, prices at the lion food center supermarket have gone up significantly.Im looking forward for the prices to trend that the other way.

I typically just go to Lions Food Center or the actually shopping center of where the Lions market is to go-to TeaRex or eat at at some of the Restaurants in the plaza that is really good, but I every so often I do go to the actual Lions Market when Im craving candy or some Asian dessert that can only be found/bought at an Asian market & have relatively good/cheap prices for their items/produce.
