We had the most amazing tour of the sutter district in Sacramento. 100% would recommend!
We took the Origins of Sacramento tour on Saturday. We enjoyed Cearas presentation on Sacramento history; sampling 5 local Farm to Fork restaurants; the walking tour of the well-preserved East Sacramento neighborhood; and socializing with other friendly tour participants. The food was generous and well-prepared, the tour guide was professional. We had a very good time.
The food tour was better than excellent. Our tour guide, Dawnie, shared a wealth of historical information in a fun and very enthusiastic way. We were served the best of the best on this progressive walking food tour. The walk to the various restaurants and sweet treats was easy. All the food and sweets were both delicious and delightful. I highly recommend the Local Roots Food Tours. Dont miss it!
Excellent fun tour of downtown Sacramento. A bit of history, fun stories, tidbits of knowledge and great food. Dawnie, one of the owners was amazing and a fantastic tour guide!
Amazing tour. We did this tour with my family along with 2 kids (5 and 7) and we all loved it. The food was exceptional (plenty of food) and we would have never known about these places had we not gone on this tour.
Dawnie was a pleasure to be around, knew everything I wanted to know about Sacramento, and brought us to some good places to eat! Highly recommend it!

2023-08-06 22:35:49Went on the Midtown tour and it was amazing! Kevin was our guide and he provided incredible knowledge and history of the city and neighborhood. All the food options were delicious. We were lucky enough that it was just my group on this tour and it made the whole experience even better. Having been born and raised in the Bay Area I was pleasantly surprised to learn so much about the rich history of our states capital. Absolutely would recommend to out of state visitors and locals alike.

2023-09-13 22:05:56Went for our fourth Local Roots Food Tour in September. We love them! All of the guides are amazing -- informative, personable, and very knowledgeable. Dawnie is our favorite! Such vibrant energy that is infectious. I highly recommend the tours. The food is always enjoyable as are the stories of the region that accompany them. Weve had multiple generations on the tours -- from us baby boomers to millennial children and a gen Y visiting niece. Everyone has a good time! Come hungry -- leave FULL and happy.

Our guide, Dawnie, was nothing short of exceptional, as we learned about Sacramento through food, art, and stories. She brought us to several local staples in the Midtown district, including a coffee shop and dessert diner. Everything we tasted was incredible, and we all found ourselves struggling to choose which dish was our favorite. While the food was delicious and enjoyable, the best part of the tour was Dawnie; she exudes positivity and knowledge, making it clear that she loves living in Sacramento as much as she loves sharing it with visitors. When someone takes such pride in their city, it becomes infectious, and as a result, we developed a passion for Sacramento almost instantly. The tour was one of the highlights of our vacation, and we recommend it to anyone visiting Sacramento. Thanks for everything, Dawnie!

2023-05-01 21:21:40I did a Midtown Arts and Food tour and it was excellent. Host Kevin was very knowledgeable whilst also being concise in his summaries and information about Scaramentos murals. The food was great also, beingon a vegan diet there were good options for me at each food stop.

Our group was small, only three people, which made for a nicely cozy experience. So many cool places in Sacramento. Highly recommend this tour company.

2022-08-11 17:47:20I decided I wanted to surprise my husband with a food tour for our anniversary and this group was wonderful to accommodate us at the last minute. CC was our guide and she has an amazing wealth of knowledge about Sacramento’s neighborhoods. We’ve lived here 10 years but learned more from her in 3 hours than we have the last 10 years! The food was delicious and it was fun to discover the variety of food venues the area. We highly recommend local food tours!
