You know a great Chinese joint when the hot and sour soup is the best. I miss the bay area. I moved Modesto 23 years ago. Chinese food there is Panda Express ie tastes Chung King frozen dinners. This place is the genuine deal. Clean and the staff is on the spot and kind. Was there at 1115 and it filled fast and even Chinese people brought families to eat here. You know they dont eat at panda ex but they eat here you know what I mean.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The staff was very nice even when we unknowingly stayed past their closing time.Moo shu chicken - was a classic. It was slightly heavy on the lettuce and liquidy, but came together well with the wrapper. The restaurant was nice enough to give us a few extra wrappers.Broccoli beef - this is a staple of Chinese takeout places and Lock Chun definitely does it well. Crispy broccoli and tender beef came together wellSzechuan pepper chicken - a good level of spice, may need to ask for more spice based on taste. Chicken was tender. Expected it to be served with actual Szechuan peppersLock Chun beef - good flavor, tender beef, kind of similar taste as the other beef dish

Had a wonderful family dinner here. My fam is cantonese and they enjoyed everything. We reccomend the green beans, mushu pork, Mongolian beef, chowmien Hong Kong style. Our kids also loved it! We had 7 in our party and it took some tetris-ing to fit all the dishes on the table. We will come back!

We didnt know where to get good Chinese food so i relied on reviews for this place. It didnt disappoint! The food was so good! Chow mein, won ton soup, beef and broccoli and orange chicken were very tasty! The service was super friendly!

Perfectly serviceable family run Chinese restaurant. Friendly staff, good selection and youll find most of your favorites on the menu. Parking can be hard to find if you arrive at peak times, might have to park on street. Interior no frills. Food leans toward American style.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area. The service is great and the staff are super friendly.I really like the zha jiang mian, walnut shrimp, and the salt and pepper spareribs. I always order the combination fried rice and noodles as well.Great prices with large portions. Definitely would recommend!

Food is good but make sure you order your rice separately. It’s not indicated on the menu but no dinner options come with rice nor does the menu have an option to order rice. Made it all the way home with dinner for the whole family and no one had rice.

This has been a favourite for over 20 years! I have been going back - mostly for lunch - several times every year. Lock Chun is modest in its decor andfamily run. Ive seen the same friendly ladies year over year... and I think they recognize me now.The food... Never dissapoints - Never. Mongolian beef, Kung Pao Chicken, Orange Peel beef or chicken... You cant go wrong. Pretty comprehensive menu - theres much to explore.Enjoy!April 23 - still as good as ever!

Came here for lunch and left happy. I ordered Spicy Garlic Chicken lunch special and food was solid. I wish it was spicier but adding chili sauce helped. Also came with soup and spring rolls. Hard to beat for $10.50. Portions were big enough and service was good.

I had not been there in some years, but Im glad we decided to give it a try. It was just as good as we all remembered. We had walnut Shrimp, pork fried rice, BBQ pork chow mein, fried wontons, and sweet and sour pork. Yum, yum. On top of all that, we had excellent service and lots of tea and water refills from the waitress there. She was nice and friendly to us. We will go back again soon.

Its pretty sub par, so I dont understand the high rating. Maybe for Bay Area its fine, but elsewhere, it wouldnt be open for long. Barely any flavours in the 3 different dishes I had. It took 5 minutes for us to get our food... so thats not promising. Rice wasnt fresh. Dirty water glasses. Server was friendly though.

There are so many great dishes to try at this place, it is hard to pick. But from my recent visits, I particularly liked the Won Tons, the Kung Pao Scallops and the Mongolian Beef. This is a quiet and cozy place like I like them, nothing flashy or pretentious. The service is fast and friendly. Just writing this review makes me hungry by the way. Enjoy!

The best Chinese food in the Bay Area period I drive from Richmond, CA to eat here that should tell you how good their food is. Its affordable and fresh and hot and Irene the waitress is super friendly. Worth the drive!

This is the best Chinese restaurant I have found in the San Jose area. Mongolian Beef/Chicken, Hot and Sour Soup, and their Eggrolls are my main go tos. Their prices have been creeping up steadily though and are on the higher end range now, putting them on par with the fancier Chinese restaurants in the area.

My all time favorite Chinese restaurant.The parking can sometimes be full/challenging, the strip center is a little frumpy, and Lock Chuns space is bland and underwhelming BUT>>>>>their food is amazing, their service is attentive and they will go the extra mile to ensure your happiness.Im a big fan of chicken salad and Lock Chuns doesnt disappoint. Just the right balance of lettuce, chicken, peanuts and dressing with a hint of something hot/spicy but not overwhelming. Some restaurants chicken salad is soggy with no taste or personality, NOT HERE.Their dishes are all fresh and tasty without that heavy oily/soggy experience you often get. I particularly like thier salted fish a light, white fish battered and deep fried with a hit of chili pepper and a pinch of sale, always light, fresh and appealing.Love their stir fried green beans, and hot and sour soup, but truthfully there havent been any dishes weve ordered over the years that we didnt absolutely love.Great informal restaurant to take your family for dependable quality, fresh food and comfort food environment. I eat here frequently and would encourage you to check them out.

Been looking for a new chinese restaurant since my fave closed because the owners wanted to retire. This place is delicious and the wait staff is really friendly. Im not too fond on bigger restaurants because they tend to lose the quality with getting lots of people in. During my date night here, i didnt notice several customers picking up orders and it was obvious to me that a majority were regular customers by how the wait staff knew them by name. I like small businesses succeeding. I will be definitely coming here to satisfy my chinese food cravings.

We have been ordering take-out from this gem for a long time, but, when we’re not all SiP-ing, I also like to come here for lunch. It does a lot of takeout business even during normal times, which means the dining room is often fairly empty and quiet. That doesn’t promote bad service, though! The waitstaff is attentive and knowledgeable... though sometimes the English is a little incomprehensible.My only complaint - no brown rice. Wah wah wah. Doesn’t even remove a star.Family go-tos are beef or chicken chow fun, eggplant in spicy garlic sauce, and wonton soup.

We have been trying different Chinese restaurants lately, this include China Delight, Lock Chun, JX Cuisine, Soong Soong, Top Chef, Tong Soon Garden and Asia Village. The only two that I would give 5 stars are Lock Chun and China Delight. The food are really good. Soong Soong is the worst.

Called placed an order was told it would be 45 minutes upon arrival I waited 20 minutes just to be told they never got my order and said I must have called else wear, when i confirmed this was place I called they said oops and offered to remake it with no ETA upon reorder. Then 50 minutes later got my food was offered no discount for their mistake and my food was still cold.
