Discovered this place while I was planning a surprise date for my husband on a Saturday afternoon, we went there and were seated out in the patio which was amazing. Everything about this place starting from receiving us at the entrance, till us leaving after we had our food was amazing. The variety food and drinks available at this place is amazing. The food really tasted heavenly and the drinks are to die for, the service was really excellent and we would definitely come back here and recommend this to everybody. The food also has vegetarian options which were conveyed, conveniently by George The margarita guy.

I come to this place every Friday and that is not an exaggeration, I absolutely love this place. Everything on the regular and specials menu is amazing and I’m always finding something new. The margaritas are always terrific and Jordan, one of the bartenders, is super nice and even remembers my sisters order, that’s how often my family and I come here. I cannot recommend this place enough.

I am great food lover and always try to visit different type of restaurants and explore different cuisine. Coming from Santa Barbara, Los Agaves is one of the renowned name and moment I saw it’s presence in West Lake village, I jumped in and I am not surprised with the food quality - it’s great as usual.What caught my attention is that this particular restaurant has world class service - man I have experienced very rarely such a great hospitality. The gentleman who is in bar and mostly takes care of guests is a pure pleasure to hat with and he made me feel comfortable with offering glass of cool water, he noticed I am an Indian and as a result he offered really spicy dip which turned out of great taste as well. He checked in between if everything is fine! I noticed he is doing it with all the tables.Seating and ambiance is great. As described in the picture attached, my God, molcajete shrimp dish was was so delicious. This is it. Come and enjoy the hospitality which is very very rare in restaurants now a days even though you are almost forced to pay 18% gratuity in other places.

Not like a typical Mexican restaurant. It has the ambiance of a sit down restaurant but you order your food at the counter and then they’ll bring it to you. I like that they give 3 different samples of salsa with your chips. Be aware of the green one because it’s spicy. I ordered the flautas (flautitas tapatias) which was very delicious and very filing. They serve the beans in a taco salad bowl which I loved however the beans are not traditional refried beans, they reminded me of the beans you put it pork and beans so that was my only negative. Other than that I would recommend that you try this place.

Went with a party of 3.Overall cool vibe. A bit different process, a you have a bar mobile table and order drinks from there and get your food from a cashier.Drinks were pretty good 4 stars.Apps, guacamole, cervice, chips all god to very good. The queso fundido excellent. Taco samples excellent.Specialty Taco with steak and melted peppers.The churros were fantastic.Friendly staff and so quick and responsive.I would recommend, and go back, and a solid 4 star review.

The food was very good according to everyone at the table, no issues. The only issues I had were the dirty/beat up menus, the noisy environment and the ridiculous glass they give you for beer (please change this). The staff was very polite and helpful. You order at the front & they bring it to you. I recommend giving it a try for some good Mexican food!

Oh! How I miss eating out! They have plenty of outdoor seating here. We ordered the nachos, chicken mandarin salad, and fish tacos. The nachos were huge!! My children shared it and couldn’t even finished them. They also have free salsas and chips, which were delicious!!

Ordered Mole Polbano (mole sauce was super flavourful, beans were above average, chicken was juicy tender), Tacos Del Mar (flavourful and fresh), Molcajetes (sea and earth flavour was super unique, great presentation and messy to eat- but worth it), Jamaica drink (strong fragrant flavour), horchata drink (contains dairy, amazing cinnamon and vanilla flavours). All served with corn tortillas (gluten free friendly). They provided free refills of tortilla chips and salsa without us asking. Orders were made and paid at cash and food brought to the table. Quick and extremely friendly service!

Me and my wife love Los Agaves. We are always treated extremely well. The service is exceptional. Alesandro, the assistant manager, is the absolute best and always makes us feel welcomed and cared for. Tony is great also and very friendly. The food is prepared at such a high level, and it really punches above its weight in quality and flavor. The head chef is amazing! We have been to Los Agaves in Santa Barbara, and me and my wife and I both agree that there is something special about the way the food is prepared at Los Agaves in Westlake. Please try the sea and earth molcajete and combine with a carne asada quesadilla. It feeds two perfectly! Pro tip: use the triangular quesadilla pieces to dip into the sauce in the molcajete, enjoy!

Ciscos offers a far superior dining experience compared to Los Agaves. I highly recommend trying Ciscos instead, as the food and drinks at Los Agaves were poorly made and lacked flavor. Additionally, I found Los Agaves to be overpriced for the quality provided.

The food tasted okay! They don’t really have any vegetarian options (shocker!) as their rice and beans also contain lard, apparently. The servers were hit or miss but our cashier was amazing (you have to pay first and then get a table)! Our cashier worked with the kitchen to carve a vegetarian dish (used pinto beans instead) specially for us! Overall, the vibes were great but the food and service could be better! The food also had a crazy amount of salt.

Ive been here a couple of times to this location, once in Santa Barbara and Montecito location and the food has the same flavor in each restaurant. Found this same restaurant in Santa Barbara while traveling and was a hit. This one in Westlake/Thousand Oaks is the same awesome experience. Busy, fast preparation. Always hot and service from start to finish was GREAT at both locations. Now we need one in San Diego, but Im willing to drive a few hours north to come to either of these locations.

Lousy customer service. Poor management skills. Waited over an hour to be seated. Server brought menus and placed our drink order. Sat another 30 minutes before I ask a staff member if she could call our server. She informs me server doesnt take order were suppose to order at the register. What, Im upset now because the server didnt inform us. I ask for manager, he tells me hes sorry our server assumed we knew the process. The Manager was aware of the length of time weve waited to be seated and that we are a party of 10. I tell him to have someone take our order since weve waited so long and were a large party. He straight out tells me NO! He was more concerned about his server because my husbsnd stated he was not going to tip. We paid for our drinks and left. Worse part is that we went there to celebrate my birthday. We wasted our time. No remorse what so ever. Horrible experience. We will never return or refer this place to anyone.

Can’t rate the food since we waited 20 minutes for someone to come and take our order and no one even said hello so we left. We did however get to see the servers serve everyone else in the restaurant… even people that came in after us. Oh yeah and not a busy day there was seating everywhere. Super disappointed since we were recommended this place and we are from out of town. I’m in the customer service industry, have been for 15 years, and I’ve never ignored a customer even on a bad day. Please make your servers more attentive and more personable with everyone in the place. The food looked good but with bad servers it definitely took away the excitement.

As they say, Nothing ever stays the same! When Los Agaves first opened it was really good. The food was always fresh and the quality was consistently great. As time passed it was still good, but not as it was in the beginning. Now more time has passed and yes so has the quality. Its ok, but nothing to rave about. Oh yeah, lets not forget about the increase in prices, as with everything the price of a meal has skyrocketed. I guess with everything going through the roof they had no choice.

Super delicious food here. Never disappoints. I got the Los Agaves Enchiladas and my wife got the chilie relleno combo. As always we scarfed it down. The homemade sauce here is bomb af too!. Little pricey as it came out to $34.xx with 1 drink. Id say its not authentic Mexican food but more of a fusion between Mexican and the rich 1st class. Definitely worth a visit, and revisit.

Best Mexican food in the area, Los Agaves never disappoints. Great location, fun ambiance, excellent customer service and the food always good. Our favorite dish is an off-the-menu one that an employee told us about, called the Tablita. A giant platter of beef, chicken, pork, beans, rice, sausage, peppers, guacamole and more. Feeds two or three easily and always so good! The Guadalajara Enchilada is another fave. Their happy hour is popular too, so get there early.

This restaurant is counter service only unless you sit at the bar. The food was extremely good and the drinks were even better. We got the house margaritas and the blackberry margarita--both were delicious! Very fresh ingredients, not the sweet and sour mix you normally would get at a Mexican restaurant. Be warned, the prices are a bit steep, but the drinks are huge. All of the food was high quality and delicious. I highly recommend this place. Try the boiling pot of delisiousness called the molcajete. It was beautiful!

I love this place. Its been a favorite for years and it is the best Mexican food in the Conejo by far. The ordering is weird and Im not a fan of getting a table then having to get up to order my own food. The prices reflect a full-service experience for a self-serve concept. Prices are a bit high - especially for a margarita but the food prices are comparable to even the worst Mexican food places in town and is markedly better than anywhere else. They also have a loyalty program which I really like and the happy hour is fair. Its where I will always go when the craving hits.

I have been going to this place for the past few years and I absolutely love their food. However, the staff appears to be very rude when I ask for salsa. Today, I did not ask for extra salsa, but I did only request to receive a particular kind of salsa and the employee (Carlos) rolled his eyes at me. I would like to think that maybe he was just having a bad day, but this occurs often when I visit. Hopefully, they can better train their staff on better customer service.

A price was wrong on the menu, and I was not so-informed, but spotted it on the bill. When I said I shouldnt have to pay for a menu misprint because I had not been informed of it, I was referred to the manager. The manager blamed the menu, when an appropriate response would have been to acknowledge the error and either comp the mistake or at least apologize. Also, after we waited an hour for a table we were told we needed to order at the counter--posted instructions would have helped. Finally, one person in our party was charged for a large margarita, but given a small one. When we asked about it, the manager brought the larger size, unceremoniously exchanged, without any acknowledgement or apology. The food was good, but it was not worth the aggravation, and I will not return.

Las Agaves is the best Mexican restaurant in SoCal. On a par with Las Brisas in Laguna Beach. Cadillac Margarita dispensed with my need for viagra last night. Average at best, steak fajitas were just ok. Lots of peppers and onions but under cooked. The tortillas came about 5 minutes after the meal was delivered and were overcooked. I was expecting soft flour tortillas. Service wasnt great. Bartenders were too busy talking among themselves.

The food is excellent but the price has increased so much in the last year that we rarely eat here anymore - over $20 for a chicken quesadilla with no sides is just insane. When my family used to eat here about once a week we would get the combination meal that has a delicious house salad and great rice, the salmon tacos, and the house enchiladas. It’s a shame they raised the prices so much and it’s very annoying that for takeout you never know if they will include the (previously free) chips and salsa anymore - a lot of the times they won’t add them to the bag and we have to pay to add them and then sometimes they are just randomly included.

The staff seemed mad that we asked for more salsa and pico de gallo. We arrived at the restaurant before our friends. We had menus on the table for them. Twice they asked if they could take them. Apparently, they are short on menus. The prices are a bit on the high side for the service that is provided: you get seated at a table, you have to go up to order your food, then someone brings it to your table. They absolutely refuse to give you a wifi password. Im pretty sure that is standard at all locations...know for a fact it is in Westlake and at least one in Santa Barbara. What the heck? Really? The food is mediocre...better at other restaurants.

What happened to this place?? Today’s meal was such a disappointment!They were out of albondigas soup and horchata. Our shrimp fajitas order was wrong. The shrimp was tasty but what ever fish came with it was weird and rubbery, and most definitely not fresh. We ordered ice teas that we never received and when we asked for them we got regular tea at the end of our meal. There was tofu in the tortilla soup which was strange. Almost like they ran out of ingredients and threw whatever that had in it. The servers didn’t seem very attentive. We had to chase people down for utensils, plates and water. Overall a very disappointing meal. We dined here several times before and never had an experience like this before. Not sure we will be back anytime soon.

I do not recommend it for food! Maybe the drinks are better! Enchiladas Guadalajara, the red sauce its definitely from a can. The beef had an old taste, I hope Ill be alright. Side of guacamole its probably from a jar. The pico de gallo is spicy and there was no warning for that in the menu. Nothing seems cooked fresh which is what you normally expect from a Mexican restaurant.

This place is pretty good but no where near the restaurant in Santa Barbara on North Milpas Street. Service is a bit off but the employees are trying although there is not a great deal of teamwork. They bring all the food at one time. Starters are starters not entrees!!! The cerviche was dry and awful. Also, they need to have hot drinks until the winter months are over!!! Coffee, tea and a few how cocktails. Also, bring or ask about side plates and spoons for serving and sharing. This is basic restaurant hospitality. The food was good but not great.

Never going back there again. I went in for an interview. The general manager is misogynistic and talks down to you. Belittles you and compares the restaurants I work at with his. He was late to the interview without apologizing or offering anything. Says staff that are the girls are there to work for him not together. Which is messed up. Micromanaging. Kind of fend for themselves. Gender bias observed at the restaurant with misogyny. No wonder the cashier had quit and they’re understaffed. Who wants to work in a negative environment or want to go back to dine in.

Went through Doordash in search of fresh Mexican food, was ordering from a different place but they end up being closed ...so we decided to try our luck with Los Agaves as we hadnt had our chance to eat there yet. We were given an hour delivery time they showed up in 30! We were definitely surprised by that, the food was nice and hot, none of the hard shelled tacos were soggy at all which is very hard not to do specially with delivery, the food was very fresh & super flavorful, we will definitely be eating there again! A fantastic gourmet Mexican restaurant. Prices are higher than a hole in the wall joint but in my opinion they are spot on for the quality and taste of the food; also happy hour prices are quite reasonable. This place has a lot of seating but it needs it as it is very popular. It has an order at the counter style setup where you seat yourself; indoor and outdoor. Come early as the lines can get quite long. Fortunately there is a lot of parking at this shopping center.

I saw a menu later and realized what the cashier was mumbling was an item on the regular menu that had the two tacos.... And the price fit... But I didnt get the sides the menu had. Live and learn. The only things missing for this restaurant to be a five star restaurant is a full bar and pretentious service because the food is mind-blowingly amazing, only Mexican restaurant in Southern California that serves the food you would eat in a good Mexican restaurant in Mexico.So in spite of the amazing food it does not qualify for a five star restaurant since there are no sommelier, no maître D, no waiters and the prices are very low but I can definitely call it gourmet Mexican
