Weve been going to LA Grill since it was Banderas a number of years ago. We went for dinner today and it started slow as it took a while for someone to take our drink order. After the shift change and our server came over to welcome us, everything was great!For starters, we had the dip duo, which is jalapeño queso & guacamole. We had the cedar plank salmon, which was really good. Also, the French dip au jus made with sliced prime rib on a toasted french roll. This, imo is the best French dip that Ive ever eaten 😋.Desert was the keylime pie which was very good.Also had some ZD Cabernet that was very smooth.

Overall, I did not enjoy my visit to this establishment. I had come to try their steak, but was disappointed to find out that they do not serve steaks or grilled fish before 4pm. Instead, they had a very basic lunch menu. Additionally, the location of the restaurant has weak cellphone coverage (Verizon), and they do not offer any WiFi. This could be an issue for those on business trips who need internet access.Furthermore, I found the table arrangement to be quite odd. They have semi-circular booths that face their tables, meaning that if you sit at one of the tables, you will be facing people sitting in the booth. This creates an uncomfortable feeling as it seems like people are watching you the entire time you are eating, even if they dont intend to as they face those tables.Overall, I cannot recommend this place. The lack of options on the menu, poor location for cell service, and awkward table arrangement make for an unpleasant dining experience.

We made a reservation for lunch. There were many tables occupied and a 3-person walk-in group seemed to wait 10 min before being seated. We waited a few minutes for our table to be set-up as well. We were seated away from the main crowd . The inside of this restaurant has a feeling of Disney’s Great California hotel with woody interiors and pictures of bears and the outdoors. Ambience is 5 stars. Service was a 3. (It took forever for us to be noticed for water refill and getting the check). Food was between a 3 & 4. Macho salad was our favorite. The price differential between lunch and dinner mains was very small. I can see the bar being an attraction being the inner “circle” seating in the dining room.

LAG is the only place in Los Altos with the cocktails, ambiance, and food that is worth the time, money and effort to get a reservation. Excellent Steaks. Excellent French Dip. Roasted artichokes. Cornbread. Very good wine list. Generous cocktails. Comfy booths. Sometimes some live music to improve your evening. Horseshoe bar. They know what theyre doing. Ive eaten here dozens of times. Never had a bad meal, let alone poor service. Go.

Still the best restaurant in Los Altos.However prices went way up. As an example, you used to get 6 half eggs for their excellent devil eggs, now you get 3 fore more $$$.When in season, their grilled artichokes are worth the trip by themselves.My only reservation is the extreme noise, mostly when seating next to the bar. I know that for some its part of the atmosphere . Not my preference. I prefer to enjoy quality food in a quiet environment.

I think this place offers a lovely environment for dinner! The bar looked like it would really fun to hang out at too. We ordered the pork chop, beef ribs, as well as the chicken meatballs, smoked trout and deviled eggs. The mains were much stronger than the starters. I was extremely impressed by how tender the meat was and how generous the portions were. The desserts were fun too - we ordered all of them since we had a large group. My favorite was the banana cream pie, but you can never go wrong with Oreo and ice cream!

This is is my absolute favorite Bay Area restaurant! This is our go-to for date night, and is also good for small groups. The service is is excellent and the ambiance is a perfect combination of warmth and upscale comfort. Ive had most of the dishes - they never disappoint. My favorites are the dip duo, salmon, chicken and rib platter, and emerald kale salad. The pomme puree, broccoli, cornbread, and artichokes are also delicious. The margarita is refreshing, and the wine selection is great. I love having their strong espresso with dessert. The ice cream sundae is always fun, and the oreo cookie ice cream I tried most recently was divine.

We recently moved to Los Altos and tonight we discovered Los Altos Grill. It was a very pleasant discovery to say the least! We were celebrating a birthday and the combination of delicious food, accommodating and friendly staff, and comfortable atmosphere made it a wonderful birthday. The cornbread & grilled artichokes were very good. We had the salmon and French dip, both amazing. And the desert was sooo yummy! We will be back very soon!

People usually hate my honesty, as they never want to hear bad. But Los Altos Grill was excellent service, food, ambience. The server actually introduced themselves which rarely occurs at other restaurants. Very good energy here. The servers were calm and friendly even though the place was extremely busy. This is one of the few places in South Bay this popular and this good.

We were extremely disappointed with the service we received at Los Altos Grill on July 4th. We were 5 adults and 2 small kids. We were the first group arrived at the restaurant. Cole was the host and told us we cant sit outdoor. We were fine with this, but when we asked to be seated at a large table, Cole then told us that there was no large table available. He proceeded to seat us at two separate tables, even though there was clearly enough room for us at the larger table.We were already feeling uncomfortable at this point. Our food took over an hour to arrive, even though there were several empty tables in the restaurant. When our food finally arrived, it was cold and one of the orders was incorrect. We tried to speak to the manager about our concerns, but he was nowhere to be found.We left the restaurant feeling discriminated against. We were the only non-white people in the restaurant, and we were the only ones who were seated at separate tables and given cold food. We are very disappointed with the service we received, and we will not be returning to your restaurant in the future.

This is one of my favorite restaurants since I came to the US six years ago. It’s become a family tradition to come here every once in a while. The quality of the food and the service have been exceptional. Their menu is relatively simple but each item is well made and executed. My personal favorite would be the rotisserie chicken, cornbread, and the banana cream pie (always a must regardless how full I am).

This place has gone done from the best place in Los Altos to most irritating worse place to dine in.! I have been coming to this restaurant for past 30+ years and in past couple years i have been disappointed each time I went there.But tonight service top the last few times.We wanted to seat out side and enjoy the nice weather, as usual for outside we go to the bar and order our drink and food! That is what I did, the bar tenderHanded the plate and utensils to me and told me to take it out there, i ask if I should do that??? She said yes the outside is self service!I was so shocked but since it was my friend BD and I didn’t wanted to make her feel bad I did not say anything!Pretty soon you need to wipe your own table and May be go get your own food from kitchen too!

Had a great time last night here. I had the double cut pork chops, which were tasty and a VERY generous portion. We had the deviled eggs appetizer, and shared a Caesar salad, both very tasty! I had the hot fudge sundae for dessert (no dessert menu apparently), which was really too large for me. Service was good, but there seemed to be some confusion and delay in getting my wine served.

Dishes were almost perfect (reserve for improvement). We had the corn bread, grilled artichoke, giant Prawn cocktail for starters. Wife had the salmon and I had the filet. The salmon was not over cooked, and the steak is cooked to order (rare but not bloody, so hard to get that, but I got it). The starter were excellent, well everything were excellent. Only point deducted was due to they sit us in a small b booth, to small for the amount we ordered. Oh yeah, the server recommended the Caymus cab from Napa, superb with the filet. Highly recommend this place.

The atmosphere is very nice similar to a classy neighborhood bar and grill. Great wait staff, lots of seating at the bar and a small patio up front. The house vodka is Titos so it is pretty on point here. We had the macho salad and the beef short ribs. The French fries were crispy and delicious, the Cole slaw was tangy and tasty, the salad was both filling and refreshing with excellent flavor, and the ribs were fall off the bone, slight crispness on the edges and a light bbq sauce that didnt hide the beef. The meal was very good, and the service was excellent. I will def return for a drink and a meal.

Got takeout from them last night. Called in the order 3 hours before pickup time. The receptionist who took my order was super friendly.I go to pick up the food and the 2 ladies at the end of the restaurant were dry and lacked basic customer service. They didn’t address the questions I had. I looked at the list and all items were crossed off. I asked if order was complete and they assured me it was. I asked because the order was large and there didn’t seem to be enough bags. I trusted them.I get home and sure enough, 25% of my items were missing. I live 50 min from the restaurant so going back wasn’t an option. Super disappointing. For the price they charge and the reduced portions, I would expect completeness of orders and better hospitality.

Overpriced for food and experience. Not the touches and quality you would expect.The food was nothing special and the starters were small portions. The mains were very minimal.Salmon - the piece of salmon was big and great, but there wasnt any sides - and I felt that was missing. The salad wasnt a direct compliment to the salmon and felt like separate dishes. For the price - getting salmon and a small cucumber salad was disappointing. I would have paid more to add another (carb) side.Steak - The fries were immensely disappointing. They came out cold, and a little soggy and were mcdonalds equivalent. Used to be a 5+, but with smaller portions, price spikes - the burger is now almost $30 - odd recipe mods (what the heck happened to the Ahi Tuna Salad??), the loss of unlimited corkage, etc...now more of a 3 minus. The staff is still terrific, and the food itself is still great, but were not in downtown NYC -- the prices dont merit wait. There are much better options now downtown. Skip it.

I met an old friend for dinner last night at the Los Altos Grill. This was my first visit there and I came away impressed with both the service and the food. Everyone from the hostess to the servers were very pleasant and professional. I had a very generously sized Macho salad with fresh greens, chicken, avocado, burrata, tomato, corn, nuts and chopped dates. Filling and very tasty. My friend wanted the same salad - was surprised that her request to substitute salmon for the chicken for an up charge was turned down. They have salmon on their menu, so I dont understand. Also, I find it astounding that a restaurant of that size has a ladies room with only 2 stalls. Very clean, however. Walking to and from the restroom is an adventure - literally through very crowded and narrow aisles. I cant imagine navigating with a walker or wheelchair.

Since Lockdowns they have made it harder and harder to order. 01/13/2023 Terrible! We both got food poisoning. My wife and I eat here probably 4 times a year, sometimes a full meal others just the dessert. Typically we order the the pork chop and the Oreo dessert. This time they changed the menu so we had the shrimp cocktail, roasted chicken, and the tout. After sharing the food here we woke up the next morning sick with food poisoning. We investigated and came to the conclusion that it was due to the food here as the only same food we both ate within a 48 hours of getting sick was at Los Altos Grill. On 01/15 I reached out to Los Altos Grill and spoke with Bruno and Jenna who informed me that they will look into the situation. I also informed them that while there during this visit my wife observed a number of employees in their open kitchen on their phones. At the time we did not follow them to see if they would wash their hands prior to handling food. I had not received a call back so on 1/22 I called Jenna and asked her what the situation was Jenna indicated to me that they checked their cameras and temperatures and stated that she does not feel that our being sick could have come from Los Altos Grill. I am here to write this review as evidence does not lie. Since I am here we have also witnessed a sense of entitlement behavior from the hostess depending on who attended to us and when we visited. Besides the Pork chop (which they no longer have) and the Oreo dessert the food is actually not that good at all. This visit was very disappointing as we paid $120 to ruin our weekend. I will consider contacting the Santa Clara county public heath department as they may need to inspect this facility.

Ive been coming here for 20+years. My advice: Watch out for a server named Sid. Hes extremely unpleasant and beyond RUDE. Apparently, my June 2019 run in with him was a one time occurrence/has been addressed with him according to the mother ship,Hillstone,... however, I still get **very** bad vibes from him. When we can successfully avoid his area, Im a very happy camper. Food is excellent, drinks are excellent, service (except for server Sid) is excellent.

We had our own bottle of champs, at first the service was good, after 1 glass of champs our glasses were taken away. Bottom line, the food was good, not amazing. A “high-end” restaurant with an unsophisticated and rude staff. They were disinterested in anything except kissing up for the their eventual tip. The food was decent, not great, and most definitely not worth the prices charged. Our overall experience was soured by their lack of accommodation and horrendous attitude. The manager was no more accommodating than our waitress … will not be coming back as there are countless better ways to spend an evening.

LAG... what can I say... the food is exemplary. We started with 2 shrimp cocktails and drinks. The shrimp must have been of the U15 size (under 15 per pound) variety. They were very tasty and huge.I had beef ribs that were cooked to perfection. When I shared a taste with the table 2 people said they should have picked the Beef Ribs. I must add that the side were very much on point.We also had a ribeye steak, a burger and a chicken sandwich all of which were wonderfully prepared.We also had a shared Oreo ice cream cookie for a birthday desert. It was great great. The short story is, come to Los Altos Grill and enjoy yourself.

BBQ beef ribs fell off the bone and seems to just melt in the mouth. table service wasnt as frequent as I would have liked, but the restaurant was packed, so it is understandable. This is a really nice restaurant for something more than a casual dinner. The restaurant has a nice bar in the middle with some sports games going on over their big screen TVs and low ambient lighting surrounding the more private tables surrounding it.I generally have ordered the salmon dish here and it has never been a disappointment. Ive only heard good things about the other items on the menu and their drinks are a good compliment to the food as well. Service was phenomenal and Ill be sure to be back.Pro tip, get a reservation!

Truly exceptional food in a great setting! The number of selections is relatively small, but I have yet to taste a dish that is not excellent. WARNING: take out/curbside menu missing all of their best items! No Steak To Go!If you wanted to order take out you used to be able to order from their entire menu. There was always a long wait and you could only order within a certain window but they were the best so it was worth it. NOW they have cut what you can order to go in half. It is an insult to their customers who have been dining there from the beginning, since it was Banderas, because they have taken away most, if not all, of their best options. You can’t order any of their steak options to go any more.Since lockdowns started they have made change after disappointing change in phases that I finally just went somewhere else because I would have only been able to get half of what has been my regular order for 2 for the last 4 to 5 years.Normally I order over the phone but now they force you to use their online ordering service. Today I had trouble with the online service so I went in person. This was the first time I was ever told I wasn’t allowed to order something other than fries to go. Usually the hostesses and people who took the to go orders were always very friendly and accommodating but not anymore!Definitely no longer the best in Los Altos.

This is an upscale little restaurant in the small town of Los Altos. We enjoyed the largest shrimp cocktail I’ve ever had. I love their kale chicken salad and mom enjoyed her deviled eggs. It’s a very noisy restaurant, so don’t think you’re going to have a quiet conversation with a friend. My mom had to take out her Hearing aids! This is one of our favorite places. Recently the cornbread size changed (to 1/4 the size) which is a BIG disappointment but atleast they have it. Prices have gone up about a lot too. I love the food, it is always great but yesterday I had the worst experience when I wanted to eat there with my family. I drove all the way since I didnt have a reservation (after calling and verifying we can wait and get a table). The guy who helped me was very nice trying to find an ok solution for my family as we were a party of 4 and 2 (you cant have a table for 6 due to COVID). He suggested we seat outside. While we were talking, his manager (I believe) came, she was so aggressive and so rude (she did everything but screaming at me) and she said she cant seat us at the same area, at the same time or outside (she claimed they dont have a waitress for those specific tables :)). I am ok if they cant accommodate us at all but there is a way to communicate that. I am very disappointed as it is our treat restaurant and my kids love it but not sure I will ever go there again.

Ive been frequenting this place for many years, so obviously it has been one of my favorites. Their prime rib is now not on the menu anymore, but it is available and delicious, roasted to medium-rare. The filet is the best you can get. Only a couple of beers on tap but a good wine and cocktail list. Always a great vibe and excellent service. Walking in any night, you are guaranteed to wait for quite a while to get a table. THIS REVIEW IS STRICTLY ON MY BAR DINING EXPERIENCE.Tis 5pm on a Sunday evening -- and we walk into the restaurant, greeted by Max (whose name we learned of later) who acknowledged our reservation. We expressed our desire to dine at the bar, alas there was a wait. Max aptly suggested that there was a party sitting at the bar waiting for a table, and perhaps we could do a swap -- we gladly obliged. Within 5 minutes, we were seated at the bar.The sideway experience began from here. We were not properly served until about 12 minutes into being seated -- relatively long by my standard. When we were acknowledged, we were asked what we wanted to drink -- but we were not presented our menu.We ordered a bottle of Schramsburg and we also asked a bottle of red wine that we brought to be opened to breathe. The bartender let me taste and poured the first glass.About 10 minutes into our experience, we hailed the bartender to order grilled artichokes and shrimp cocktail both of which came out within 10 minutes -- good. Our champagne glasses and water glasses were never filled, and the bartender did not bother to check how our dishes were.About 30 minutes into our experience of enjoying the appetizers, we again made the effort to hail the bartender, and ordered the filet and a side of kale salad. The bartender did not bother to ask how wed like the steak cooked, but we also forgot to let him know how wed like to cook, so...let that slide. And I proactively asked the bartender to pour the red wine that we brought, which the bartender obliged.The steak and the kale salad came out -- and the steak was too salty for us to consume -- it was not as if the meat was overly seasoned, but it was at the level that the steak was fully coated in a layer of salt.We again had to hail the bartender to let him know of the issue, who addressed and obliged to rectify the issue. The manager came by to also let us know to rest assured that our steak is being worked on.The steak came out and it tasted pretty good -- definitely rectified.The bartender never came around once to check on our food, fill any of the empty wine glasses, or make an effort to interact with us. And at this point, I was pretty disappointed with the lack of professionalism by the bartending staff and the initial taste of the steak dish.The bartender informed us that there were two desserts available which we declined since we had plans afterwards, and asked for the check. The check came -- no thank you, no I am sorry for the mishap on the dish -- the bartender just went on about his job, which I guess is noble, but I was not happy that we received the appropriate level of service.As we walked out, we talked to who I initially thought was the host, Max, who introduced himself as one of the managers, and I let him know of my dissatisfaction with the bartending staff. I promised that Id write on the specific elements of dissatisfaction during our dining experience and here I am.Having a good dining experience is relative, subjective, and nebulous. But what I experienced at Los Altos Grill was ignorance and lack of care by the bartending staff. The bartending staff may not have intended it, but I am sorry to say that the experience we had was nothing more than subpar. I have cemented my conclusion that I will not be returning to the restaurant, at least to dinner at the bar -- and an experience like this does not erase a sour taste in my mouth easily.

We were asked to sit outside to finish the drinks they had to re-pour.Then they would no longer serve us.There isnt anywhere that states there is a time limit to how long you sit there, and we continued to order drinks (after our dinner).This is by far the worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had. Very unprofessional cleaning up the table when youre off in the restroom to then kick you out, due to us being there for longer than normal...

We dropped in about 3 weeks ago on a Friday evening. While the place was busy, there was a sense of positive energy. The clientele were very diverse--and, while this clearly is a restaurant and bar to which a younger (but of drinking age) crowd would gravitate, all ages of people were there.New manager. She had a wonderful, positive and energetic attitude. She had attention to detail and kept the staff, food, and drinks moving along while letting the patrons feel welcome and at ease.Oh..and...the food was great.

The rib eye was out of this world. It was enough for the two of us. Was so inviting, I couldnt even stop to click pictures. We had the iron skillet cornbread, rib eye and sashimi ahi tuna. All of them were delicious.The staff are polite and helpful. In fact, when we walked in they were dealing with someone fainting and the police and paramedics attending, but the staff still managed to get us a table in a short time.Suggest getting a reservation, not sure if walk-ins get a table easily.Cocktails were also well made. Im particular about my martini but have to say that it was pretty well made. Parking is ample.

This place does some things phenomenally and some things just so-so. Most every entree has been amazing but I’ve had issues with several of their appetizers/sides. They advertise that they sell their Queso dip and Guacamole by the “pint” when it’s just a “large” scoop. For $10 I expect an actual pint. I can’t get enough of their chicken sandwich which is hard because it’s a $20 chicken sandwich. It’s worth every penny, addictive even, so it’s sad they cost as much as they sell a whole chicken for.

This is strictly for the hostess. We got to the restaurant at about 8:10pm and were told 30-35 minutes. We didn’t see many people waiting on tables, so we didn’t think anything when the hostess didn’t ask our name. We asked for a menu and went outside to look at it. We were outside for about 10 minutes and got cold so we went back inside. A different hostess asked if we had been helped, we said yes but told her no one asked for our name. She then preceded to put our name on the wait list. We told her we had already been there for 10 minutes and she told us it would be another 30-35 minutes. Jump to 9:16 pm now and we still haven’t been sat. Maybe we aren’t fancy enough for the place.

Im such a fan of stopping in for a glass of wine and their Macho Salad...one of my top 3 salads ever...with dates, cornbread croutons, goat cheese, avocado, and very real and absolutely tasty chicken bites (not like dry slabs o chicken) in it. Its a comfortable and well-served experience. A very adult-feeling restaurant with couples, dates, some families and, around the bar, some singles and friend-groups. Like it. I had a poor experience eating at Los Altos Grill. My family and I went to celebrate my 21st birthday. Unfortunately, not only does Los Altos Grill not offer a cocktail menu, they dont do ANYTHING special for birthdays.I asked for a bartenders whim drink with the only caveat that it not be overly sweet. Perhaps the waiter only heard overly sweet because I was offered a grapefruit greyhound with a rim full of sugar...Food came out sporadically from the kitchen, so much so that one guest had finished their meal as another received theirs. To make matters worse, one dish was delivered piping hot and the plate caused a second degree burn. The oven-mitt wearing waiter did not warn us that the plate was hot before she handed over the meal.Overall, the poor service taints the memories of the few good dishes we ate. My only recommendations: Grilled artichokes and cornbread.

Came here for a work function and was blown away by the excellence of the food. We had the french dip prime rib sandwich, the cornbread skillet, and grilled artichokes -- each were fabulous. The sandwich in particular was no-nonsense beautifully-cooked meat on bread paired with au jus and a very tasty horseradish sauce. The place is finely decorated and speaks of cleanliness and class. Service was prompt and friendly. The restaurants sports a full bar, but curiously doesnt have their own house cocktails which youd normally expect for a place of this genre. That said, the standard drinks mixed were solid.

Los Altos Grill aka Bandera has been my favorite dinner venue for years. Great atmosphere, excellent food, great service. I usually get prime rib or French dip. French dip is the best Ive had anywhere! Only downsides are it can take a while to be seated and it can be a bit noisy.
