The pork belly is only available for dinner, wish I knew that ahead of time. I ordered their fried chicken and rice, it had a kind of kewpie mayo, miso dressing or creamy goma sauce on it. Whatever it was, it was awesome! I also grabbed a pork shoulder for later. If I lived near here, this would be my go to place. For some reason on my visit they had the music volume at a ridiculous level, I had to scream back-and-forth to get my order. Maybe the guy who works here is deaf and if not, he soon will be. 🤣Anyhow I highly recommend this place. 💥🔥🙌🏼BTW, this place is a grab and go, says so right in the name. And pssst, I think some guy named Lou works here. 🤫

I just brought home the ceviche which I never saw on their menu before, and sorry not sorry, I could not get a photo because after one bite the whole thing disappeared. Omg. It was sooo delicious. Perfect lime, perfect heat, so fresh, such great flavors. I want this everyday forever.

We had the steak peanut soup and the black vin belly. The soup had rice cakes, delicious beef and dried shrimp - a really cozy combo on a cold day. The pork belly melted in our mouth while the rice sopped all the juices. Each bite was spiced and delicious. What a fantastic joint.

Wow! Lou’s is incredible. Ordered here for the first time since moving to Marin and I can’t believe we didn’t come sooner. Everything is unique, seasoned incredibly, and just straight delicious! I would recommend Lou’s to anyone - it is perfectly authentic. Lou is also so kind - gave us his dads homemade plum jam to try. A local gem - best spot we’ve visited in Marin thus far!

The literal meaning of the hole in the wall place but actually being a small shack with just about few people serving up some of the most delicious food and the experience of it. Either call them up for pick up or order at the window. The pork belly was super delicious with the mix of vegetables and crab papaya salad so fresh and uniquely different with the right amount of spicy sauce as a dressing makes up for a small quaint maybe even eclectic place to enjoy scrumptious meal.

Best experience in San Rafael. Food was phenomenal and the staff celebrated our first time there with a bell and a song. Amazing! Everyone that went were repeat customers and locals and felt like a family vibe amongst everyone there. Would come back on the regular!

It took a pandemic to get us out of our Saturday lunch rut. Wed been wanting to try Lous and suddenly it was the only place nearby to get a meal. Weve hardly eaten anywhere else since ! The flavors! The freshness, quality, and overall deliciousness! Generous portions and great service. This kind of excellence is truly rare!

The kind of food that tastes as good as it looks. Followed the friendly front person’s suggestion of the pork roast, it was melt in the mouth. Every aspect of the dish, from the salad dressing to the flavor packed rice, was incredible. The carrot turmeric soup was super rich, creamy, and hearty. 10 stars out of 5. Would drive far out of my way for this spot.

What a great little spot! Every meal Ive had here (which is over 15 times or so) has left me in awe by the creative combinations and delicious flavors. The menu is constantly rotating so theres always something new to try. All of the food is fresh and cooked to perfection! Anthony and Eric are such down to earth and sweet people and theyve always got great tunes playing. Dont look any further come here and youll be hooked!

I just took the exit off the hwy, on my way over to Slingshots house for our monthly dinner when the Slingshot called and said stop at Lous Takeaway Restaurant and pick up our order, itll be ready in 10 minutesJust like him to invite me to a BBQ and then have me stop on the way to pick it up...and pay for it too!I was just happy its Lous Takeaway, theyve got the best fried chicken in Marin County, thats for sure.

Five stars are not enough for this great place, the food is really phenomenal, I have tried almost the entire menu and it is really difficult to decide what to order because of how delicious all their dishes are, I highly recommend this place, the best place and the best option in San Rafael for take away food, I also want to mention how friendly and attentive the staff is, this place creates an unbeatable experience.

Great food and vibes! The owner is so enthusiastic and takes the time to explain each dish to his customers. We visited on a cold rainy day and the place was hopping, the phone rang off the hook with takeout orders. Pork belly and kabocha squash miso soup warmed us up.

Wow. Lou ain’t messing around when it comes to flavors… the chicken and pork were outstanding, but the salads that they came with?! Might actually be the best salads I have ever had. Up until last night I was a Lous Takeaway virgin. My palates cherry was popped as I sinfully enjoyed the Spice-Roasted Chicken with Fenugreek and Allspice (served with rice and a generous salad) along with an incredible Spiced Makti Daal. The only word to describe the incredible flavors is, magic. I really appreciate how flavor-forward and conscious Lou is with his ingredients.For me, this gastronomic experience was no one-night stand. It actually may be the beginning of a beautiful relationship. ;-)P.S. - Green Bonus Props for letting me bring my own takeaway container. I dont need any more, new plastic in my life. 💚

Lou’s is my new favorite place to get food during quarantine. I knew from the first bite that this place deserved a review (not something I do often). I just finished my 3rd meal of the Chilled Sesame Noodles and I’m a big eater- that’s how big the portion was. Every bite was amazing as a result of high quality of ingredients and incredibly flavor combinations. Also, the Matcha Cake was so unique and unlike anything I’ve ever had. Very excited to go back and try the rest of the ever-changing menu.

One of the best food establishments in Marin. Though it is take out only, the food from Lous is some of the best available. His plates are always delicious and the fried chicken is maybe the best Ive ever had. Highly recommended call ahead of time. I think he needs to write a cook book so we can try to recreate these delicious plates. Pork belly is also amazing!

I wish I could give this place 10 stars. Amazing food and a menu that often changes, but never disappoints. Every single item Ive tried from Lous has been absolutely phenomenal. If you have an opportunity to order the biscuits, make sure you do!The only thing more impressive than the food is Chris, who works front of house. His energy truly elevates the experience of ordering from Lous. Absolutely fantastic! Tasty well portioned fresh meal. Super friendly staff.I’m from the south, but Lou’s is one of the best biscuits I’ve ever had (crispy and goey oh my 🤤). Also had a fresh squid and miso salad that was phenomenal. Definitely worth going out of your way to eat here!

I can’t recommend this enough! Only note is that food tends to be a little spicy, so if you’re very sensitive perhaps give them a heads up. Yum!!

I was torn whether or not to write this review because as soon as you try this place once, you will go back regularly because of the quality, freshness, and down to earth good vibes from Anthony and Tweetie. The menu is always changing and each dish I try is as good as the last one. It will likely become crowded and busy and longer waits once it’s discovered, so that was my hesitation with writing this review but I had to do it.

It was my first time today, was ok,, I will not go back menu was very limited...portions were small and not much protein ..my sister had 4 small pieces of pork belly I tried a small tiny piece my sister gave me was fry.., some rice and cole slaw, I had greasy way too fried oil taste for pork strips.should had some kind of sauce with it ..with some rice and greens... not warranted to come back or for the price point at all. I am glad others like their food..but their portions are not what it is from the pics shown online...it was no to my liking at all...waited 10 minutes in line and 10 minutes almost for food order...only reason wee tried this place was reading the reviews.. was close by......I am Asian and this is not asian fusion to me..
