I don’t usually give 5 stars but I am making an exception because this is in my neighborhood. I have to support local businesses.If you want good quality and delicious sandwiches, this is the place for you. If you want the cheap stuff, there is one across the street.My favorite here is the prosciutto but my family and I have tried others as well like the Pastrami, Corned Beef, etc. All of it were delicious!Go try it and you will not regret it!

I suspect this might be the best sandwich shop in all of Castro Valley. I have yet to be disappointed. They just make a great sandwich. Everything is always fresh.There is very limited parking in the front, but generally speaking, there is plenty in the rear. There is also some tables for two or four inside. They also sell some Italian food products, and have frozen ready to heat meals ready to go.

This has been a favorite deli stop for the majority of my life. Quality meat. Great sourdough rolls. A big selection of beverages and chips. Dont miss the prepped foods for a quick dinner in the refrigerator across from the registers. Try to get here early to avoid the lunch line (or call in your order ahead of time)

Popped in for a quick lunch, I dont know their system so ended to in the wrong line at first, it can be very chaotic at lunch especially if youre new. Once I got in the correct place they were incredibly helpful.Another thing being new they dont have signs with sandwich offerings like you might be used to, I believe theyre online. The sign is more if the meats they offer but Ill go visit website to learn moreThey also have a section with such meals to take homeI look forward to returning and my sandwich was great

Just got a lasagne beef tried it in microwave and devious filling a quality product . A true gem you can get single meals whole lasagne all the meats and cheeses but the best pasta the bite when cooked right just a gem.You may have to wait in line but that why they have them you wont be sorryA full Italian dinner supply company and dont get me started on sandwiches

The Gillotte family has been coming here for 60 years. My brother and I flew in from Texas for a Birthday Party and my sister came from Roseville. We knew that when we went home we had to bring our spouses back sandwiches.This is how good this place is. We can not come to California without going to Luccas in Castro Valley. Parking is challenging but worth it. Food is great and definitely fresh. Place a order in advance but get there early to see the wonderful items they have to offer that are not on the menu. Service is quick and friendly. A must place to visit. Once you do youll be back again

I cant say enough good about Luccas. This place is a staple in Castro Valley and I am so glad they are here. The sandwiches are ALWAYS good. Fresh bread, generous with ingredients and the people who work there are always kind. If youre in the area or passing through, I HIGHLY suggest you stop by. Also, if you cant find parking on the street in front, there is a parking lot in the back. :)

A big delicatessen with frozen entrees - be still my heart. There were 2 freezers’ contents worth to choose from - entrees in takeout containers and even larger catering tray to feed the family. There were also some frozen soup.My eyes settled in the vegetable lasagna. It was only when I was heating it up that I started chuckling to myself recalling the Seinfeld episode with Elaine and Puddy on the plane.I digress…I opted to remove it from the plastic container and microwave in a ceramic plate. Not sure if that was the reason why 11 minutes of cook time and the center was still cold. I ate along the edges since it was cooked and returned the plate into the microwave. The lasagna was loaded with a thick layer of cheese atop layers of noodles and spinach - hearty comfort food.

Have been coming here for years. Horrible customer service. Waited at the counter. The owner who was taking orders didn’t greet me, ask me to hold, or anything. He looked at me, walked away, and took a phone order. The phone wasn’t ringing when I was standing at the counter. I walked out, and I won’t be back.

Great food, Five starts for the food.If only they could get the order correct. I ordered a salami sandwich got home and had a ham sandwich! drove back and they replaced it with another incorrect sandwich that should have been salami.Good thing I looked in the bag before I drove off because that one was wrong as well . Then the guys was annoyed with me for wanting it replaced twice!Also the owner is not a very friendly man and makes me unfordable just standing there looking at everyone and wont even say hello back if you talk to him.

Love the sandwiches here. The raviolis use to be very good but the last few times they were very soggy and feel apart. You couldnt distinguish the pasta from the sauce it was that mushy. So I probably wont ever buy that again unless I know theyve improved it. Really sad because that was one of my favorite things to bring home and have with dinner.

Great sandwich! I was craving an Italian deli style sandwich and was in Castro valley for a meeting. I was happy when I found this place. I found parking around the corner and walked in. They use the number system so I took a number and waited to be called. While waiting I perused the groceries and cold beverages. After a quick wait my number was called and the waitstaff were friendly. She took my order and then made my sandwich. The sandwich was fantastic and full of the deli meats I was craving. Watch out Luccas, I will be back.

This has been one of my favorite delis for about 5 years. The wait at lunch time is typically over 20 minutes. You can call ahead but you still have to wait when you get there. Today I went early - 9:30am and got my favorite sandwich, chicken salad, and asked them to add avocado. I was the only customer, and I didnt wait long. Employees were friendly. When I went to eat the sandwich at lunch time, there was no avocado, and barely any chicken in the chicken salad. I have to say I was very disappointed. (You pay more for the avocado). I cant justify driving back over there, waiting in line to have them fix it. Ill chock this one up as one in a 100, and I will be back. I hope they dont lose their attention to detail.

I worked at Togos down the street in Highschool, my coworkers and I would order sandwiches from Luccas and enjoy then on our breaks. Still the best deli in Alameda Cty. Maybe the Bay area? Prices have risen substantially over the past year. While eating here is still a good deal (as compared to other delis - like Genova, who are just way over the top with pricing), sandwiches are creeping up to $11 each (most are between $8 & $9). Drinks (even bottle waters) are pricey. They have constant turnover with help, so service has suffered a bit too. But their following/fans are real. Get here B4 1130am on most weekend days, or stand in line for about 30 minutes (take a #, literally). Week days arent as busy but do get here as early as you can. Because after 1145am and there will be a line.Make sure you look for the red numbering machine (near the front register/counter). Take a number upon your arrival, or else youll waste time waiting. Call to pre-order is the best way to be served. You can still eat there, if you like but seats are limited. They also have other mediterranean foods for sale but prices are expensiveEdit: (5/30/2020) - Ate here/takeout dinner. I had the hot/dry cured coppa (sandwich now $9) with sourdough roll. It is still an excellent meal. But I noticed it is now filled with about 4 ounces of meat (used to be 6 oz.). I saw how the sandwich-maker measured it out on a scale. 4 ounces of meat is a joke. Never thought Id say it at Luccas (who have won best deli in Alameda county for over 20-yrs.) but that is downright skimpy. It is now not worth $9 for one sandwich. With the pricing going up and the amount of meat shrinking, this is not a place I frequent anymore. Its just too expensive for not enough meat. And I also noticed the help has turned over a lot. Not a good combination. I used to come here 2-3x a month but not for a lousy 4 ounces of meat for $9. Nope.

Great authentic Italian deli in Downtown Castro Valley. Same thing with the salad case, so it was no surprise when the girl began removing them 2 hours prior to closing.

An excellent local delicatessen! The outside sign says Lucca Deli, but youre at the right place. Grab a number when you enter because they actually use the number ticketing system for orders. There are a few tables and chairs inside, but you can always take your sandwich to go (no extra charge). The Luccas Combo is my personal favorite.

My review is based soley on my experience at the deli. The place was recommended to me via a follower on Google+ so I made a mental note to check it out. I live in Hayward and, while close, I dont always find reason to head to Castro Valley. On my way home over the past weekend, I find myself driving up Castro Valley Blvd so I finally took the time to check it out.I expected a small deli upon arrival on my first visit, but the place is so much more and, iff I lived in CV, I might see myself going there often for this and that. They did have some ready made dinners in a fridge in the back that interested me until I saw that a very small lasagna cost $10 when Im sure I could get a better price at Safeway. They had a variety of goods that youd find useful.As for the sandwiches, its what youd expect. Theres a choice of bread, meat, cheeses, et cetera as with any other deli so theres nothing special about this place at all. The sandwiches were good, but not above and beyond amazing. If I lived locally, Id definitely come here often, but its not the kind of place that Id go out of my way for. They were delicious sandwiches, though, Im not denying that, but its just a deli.My recommendation is that if youre in the mood for a deli sandwich and if youre in the area, check this place out. You wont be disappointed. However, I wouldnt go out of my way for it. Why not try a deli more local to you if thats the case? There are hidden gyms everywhere.

Walking into Luccas Deli was like walking into an Italian Deli of my childhood. What great memories it brought back. The sandwiches are fantastic, with many choices for meat, cheese and breads. There is also an Italian grocery store inside. They have premade dinners you can purchase to take home and cook. There is something here for everyone. They also have a large selection of drinks, both non-alcoholic and alcoholic.There is limited seating inside as well. We will be going back.
