Whenever I feel like eating Chinese food, I sometimes visit there.We ordered three entrées to take out.We chose the fried rice and baked rice noodle combination, BBQ pork, eggplant chicken, and black pepper beef.

Review update 10/22 from a 5 to a 1 star.My husband went and got our family of 4 some late lunch. Well bad move. We got supper burned orange chicken, and butter fried rice. Unfortunately we ended up throwing out all our food except the sides. Its time to find a new place

Very pleasant worker. The food was delicious and plentiful. 2 items and rice lasted me for 3 meals. It tasted better each time after being in the fridge and putting some soy sauce on it. Also they have excellent tasting sweet and sour sauce. I dont go to Panda anymore because they dont have extra sweet and sour sauce. It costs a little more here but very worth it. I hope its the same next time.

Two parts to this place. One is a takeout where there is a steam table where you pick 1,2, or 3 entrees. Similar to other chain stores. The other side is a sit-down setup with wait staff and printed menu.Pretty standard cantonese with a few more spicy choicesIt was lunch and we split Mongolian beef. It was very tasty and the meat was especially tender. A very pleasant surprise.

This is my go to place for chicken teriyaki and it didnt disappoint. I added some BBQ pork and it qas a bit fatty/grissley. It wasnt too bad but I have eaten at places where the pork meat didnt have parts that you couldnt chew. 90-95% of the pork was edible, and I realize there is a lot of cost cutting going around due to the economy, so its understandable.

I got the barbecue pork and lo mein. The food was pretty tasty. I think Im used to more Americanized Chinese food as I expected it to have a slightly different flavor. Im used to sweeter foods, I think. My partner got the orange chicken and it was amazing. Next time Ill get that instead.

We had dinner there last night and all four of us had severe diarrhea food issues and still have today. The restaurant will not do anything to refund our order. Please avoid this place if you care about your family safety. The worst experience ever. I would give it zero stars if there was a option. Please avoid even our daughter had issues last night.

This is the best Chinese food in San Diego! Im from Boston, and Im a Chinese food snobb. When I moved to SD, there wasnt a single edible Chinese restaurant in the county. It took years for me to find one that was mediocre. I found Lucky Chinese Food just last month and fell in love. The food is incredible! The egg foo young is amazing! I also love the pork strips. They taste exactly like back east spare ribs. The flavor of the sauce is impossible to find here in SD, but Lucky has it. Their salt and pepper chicken wings are incredible! We just tried their garlic chicken for the 1st time last weekend and were amazed! The hot and sour soup is to die for, and so are their pot stickers. But my favorite dish from them is the lettuce cups, also known as lettuce wraps. They have the perfect mixture of garlic, ginger, and plum sauce with chicken and waterchestnuts. Add crushed up crispy wonton strips to it, and its a masterpiece! If you love Chinese food, Lucky is a must!

I recently tried Lucky Chinese Food and while the service was fast and the portions were generous, I was disappointed with the taste. The chicken in both the kung Pao and orange chicken dishes tasted old and lacked flavor. While the price was moderate, I dont think it was worth it for the quality of the food. Overall, I wouldnt recommend Lucky Chinese Food as the taste just wasnt that great.

I love the Singapore noodles and teriyaki chicken drowned in teriyaki sauce. I like the teriyaki sauce in the bottle because you get more than the 2go sides.....you just have to be careful not to tip the bag and keep it flat

I live in Allied Gardens and have been looking for some decent Chinese food for awhile. We found this place and came for dinner and had a great experience. We got orange chicken, general tso chicken and some shrimp platter, the food was good (huge portions). There was 3 of us and we have enough for 2 more meals. Had a great meal at Lucky yesterday. I have had their take out on several previous occasions but this is the first time we dined in. The place was spotlessly clean and the waitress prompt and friendly. We had the Mushroom Chicken, Orange Chicken, and Shrimp Chow Mein. There were two of us and the amount of food we received would have easily fed 4 people. The Mushroom Chicken was incredible and we arent talking tiny or sliced up mushrooms they were big! Plenty of chicken too. The sauce it was cooked in was really good. The Orange Chicken was very good too as was the Shrimp Chow Mein. All fresh and piping hot. My roommate also had the veggie egg rolls. We ate untill we couldnt move ans still needed 3 takeout containers for thr leftovers. Matter of fact I just had some for dinner. Their prices are reasonable. Nothing negative about this eatery. 👍👍👍👍

We’ve been coming here since we’ve moved to Santee in 2018 and I always order (from the buffet line) eggplant with chicken but WITHOUT the chicken & replace it with green beans. No one has ever questioned me nor has anyone told me “we can’t do that” until tonight. I even told her it’s what I always order with other items & without fail they’ve always accommodated me. We have been driving from North County to Luckys for years weve loved the choices quality of food and the courtesy of the workers recently weve experienced a downfall in them all!! Our last visit will be just that our last visit the 2 counter workers were not acceptable to my food request they acted as if requesting something as small as ordering Hot Egg Rolls since the choices in the pans looked dried up and hard! I ordered hot wontons and chicken egg rolls when received the worker packed the hot wontons then my hot chicken egg rolls were dumped in with the cold ones which I received! When I told them they werent hot the worker said thats all weve got do you want them I said No Give Me A Refund she snatched them off the counter asked do you want cash gave it to me and walked away in a huff at best its lack of customer service at worst rude! Im sure I will let the dozens of friends and relatives know about my experience and will not return or recommend Luckys to anyone again so sad...

Great food, generous portions. The ability of the order takers and the expediency of the people putting the food in the containers is questionable. I ordered two (2) two item combos and a 3 item combo. The three item combi was wrong and also one of the two item plates was wrong. The cashier then wanted to argue with me saying that what was in the containers was correct when it clearly was not. Instead of fixing the issue, the cashier made matters worse by giving me very burnt food and then charged us double for the items.

Casual dining. Not busy at lunch. Ordered beef and snow peas with fried rice. Beef and snow peas wasnt bad, wasnt great. The beef was in larger pieces than normally found at other similar restaurants in other places, plus it wasnt as tender as could be. The peas and carrots could have been cooked a little more. Food came quickly, got to give them that. The fried rice, very basic and could certainly be better if the cook or company cared to put better effort into it. Portion size was good, average to above average to comparable restaurants elsewhere. I travel extensively. I have the benefit of many localities to gain added perspective. What locals think might be great, its average compared to the greater whole. They could easily add a little more care and compassion to improve their food. They deserve a 3 star. It isnt sub standard. But not top of the line either. Enjoy and good hunting everyone.

5-Star, Absolutely The Best Chinese Restaurant In The San Diego Area! We found this restaurant after reading its great reviews here and other review sites like Yelp! Lucky Chinese Food is unassuming from the outside, spectacularly clean inside, and has the kindest staff! (Kelsei was our amazing server!) The portions are huge, there is a large dine-in area and a very large take-out area. We went back twice in one week - it was that good!!! So far, weve tried 6 main dishes on their menu and 3 of the soups. I have to say everything was amazingly delicious and prepared perfectly. My favorite soup - Egg Drop Soup - is made to perfection there. Please try them when you are looking for Chinese and go hungry. :)

I have no idea what the hype is here. The price is very affordable, but you get what you pay for. My fiancé and I ordered the beef and broccoli, orange chicken, sweet and sour pork, all with fried rice, and two orders of crab Rangoon. The pork is dry and flavorless. There is no sauce, and it’s disgusting. The chicken was not flavored properly, it did not taste like orange chicken. The beef was mediocre at best; very bland. The rice tastes cheap and was not fried. I haven’t even wasted my time on the crab Rangoon. We just moved to the area and were excited to have a Chinese food place so close with such great reviews. We will not be eating here again. Don’t waste your time, it’s not good at all. Cheap price, cheap food, yuck!

We always enjoy Lucky Chinese Food, we always sit on the restaurant side. Im going to tell you a secret. The restaurant side is much better than the take out side because of the portion size, the food is exactly the same so why not take some home to enjoy later. My husband and I have been eating here for almost 5 years and bring everyone we know here. We have lots of family that visit from out of town and all of them want to go here when they come to visit. Great food. Portions are definitely of the shareable size.You can also take take-out from the buffet. Usually if you want to order something off the menu, you should eat inside at a table but I have been able to request them to make something off the menu for me to take to-go. I have to wait for it to be made but no big deal in order to get the food that I always order.

Still trying to figure out why this place has so many stars. The staff are friendly, but the food...it makes Panda seem exotic and Michelin worthy in comparison. I recommended this restaurant to my co-worker when she asked me where she could buy a side order of rice to supplement her home-made lunch. Upon ordering the clerk asked her rudely if this was all she was ordering. Then upon paying my co-worker asked if she could have two packets of soy sauce and the clerk said No. Initially my co-worker thought this was a joke but the clerk told her she would give her just one, just this one time. Our staff here at the office is appalled at this treatment and we will never go back there. Goes to show how just one packet of Soy Sauce can cost you an office full of customers.

I go to the Lucky Chinese Food in Santee. It is much better than the one in El Cajon. They make their own noodles daily, which are super delicious with a slight curry flavor. All the food is great. They have as many customers coming for the to go line as the number of customers in the dining room. They will make any dish for you even if it is not on the menu. Very pleasant staff and clean dining room.

I always go here when I want Chinese food I love their food its delicious, the only thing is every single time I order my sauce on the side they forget to put it in the bag! And I never remember to check the bag for it and I end up with dry meat with no sauce! But if I tell them to put sauce actually on the meat and not on the side it gets all over everywhere inside the bag and on me!!! Its nice to find a place that does simple egg drop soup. It is egg and broth as it should be. I also had the sweet and sour chicken with chow mein. The chicken was well done white meat in crispy breading and the vegetables were nice and firm. I also liked that they didnt drown it in that gooey sauce that most places use. The staff was friendly. Only problem was parking, but it shares that with several places including a CVS and discount tire.

Picked up one of my favorite sins from their to-go menu before leaving Santee last night. They put out the BEST salt and pepper chicken wings EVER. They also have an eat-in section now. I have experienced both excellent food and service when dining in as well. LOVE Lucky Chinese in Santee.

I didnt know what to expect when I sat down with my wife, kids, mother-in-law and others, 9 in total. The ladies working there were really helpful and friendly. I would go often if I didnt live two hours away. I really like a place that keeps things simple.One side is Panda type setup but better quality food. The other side is a sit-down restaurant. You order an entree which you share with your table. They give you chowmein or rice with it. They have about ten different beers on tap. If you order green tea, they bring a ceramic kettle full and cups. I ordered sweet & sour pork, orange chicken and General Tso with green tea and Goose IPA.

My go-to Items at a Chinese restaurant are Kung Pao (beef or chicken) and salt and pepper wings. Unfortunately when I sat down and opened the menu my heart sunk as I knew I would not be ordering the Kung Pao. Im a purist with my Kung Pao, a yummy red sauce, peanuts and green onion. I dont want it loaded with celery and bell peppers. Nope not for me.I went ahead and ordered the Salt and Pepper wings. I wasnt sure what to expect but was hopeful. When our food arrived I was nervous as my favorite wings are a deep red color and loaded with spices and green onion. These were a little more blond. I went ahead and took a bite. I was bummed. It didnt taste like much. I loaded up my next bite with the peppers and garlic and BAM that flavor was amazing! Next time I want my wings tossed in that seasoning because that is what really makes the wings.My husband ordered the fried rice which he liked for the most part but needed a little soy sauce and my son loves plain steamed rice.Overall the food was good. The service was exceptional. The lady who waited on us was very attentive and refilled drinks as soon as they were low. She also brought us two rounds of fried wonton skins which were tasty. I will be back!

When I got my food home I opened the sweet and sour pork to find that it didnt have any sweet and sour on it. The food wasnt nearly good enough for the hassle or the service.

The food at this place does not look anything like their pictures. The calamari was a joke very limpy and the coating doesnt even stick onto the calamari it was very soggy and calamari supposed to be nice and crunchy, able to pick up with your hands and eat it. Szechuan chicken have no flavor, beef and broccoli were plane no seasoning and it tasted horrible, house chow mein also tasted really bad with Yaki noodles. I cannot believe a lot of people are given this place that many stars.
