Ive gotten takeout here a few times and every time its been such a nice experience!! Leaving a review now because their som tum (papaya salad) is so perfectly executed, and in a week of 90-degree weather I could not ask for a better meal. This salad is an EXPERIENCE. Spicy and briny and sour and sweet and nutty!!Not sure if they shocked the papaya in cold water, but both times Ive had the som tum here it was so crunchy and refreshing! Unfortunately no long beans this time (Im guessing they were out) but tons of fresh lime, crunchy-sour papaya, heirloom tomatoes, and they did not skimp on the peanuts! Heads up that if you order mild there wont be any chili at all, so let them know if you still want a little heat!

This place has the best Thai food Ive had in Berkeley and has some of the best food overall in the area, despite the dated and dim interior, and the overall lack of patrons. The washroom is very clean but I did see a pigeon in the front and several pigeons in the back because the back door was open. Ive had the Thai traditional noodle soup and moo kratha, and they were both amazing! The soup is flavourful with some mouthfeel, like the opposite of a consommé.

Thai fried rice with chicken was great, cherry tomatoes mixed in really enhanced the flavor! I went in at 9:50 pm right before closing and service was still fast and the lady was very nice.

One of my favorite hole in the wall Thai restaurant in Berkeley. It is not fancy, it is not expensive and the decorations hasnt changed for over 10+ years. However, what it does have is one of my favorite noodle soup ever! The hot and sour noodle soup. Aside from it, everything else I ever had were always delicious as well. Thai restaurants may come and go, but lucky house Thai will always be my favorite hole in the wall Thai restaurant!

First off-- 3 stars means average to me. I ordered Pad Thai, Thai tea, and sweet sticky rice with coconut milk. All tasty! EXCEPT the pad Thai is just noodles, sauce, peanuts, and meat. Would be nice with some veggies or at least green onion. Flavor is tasty but not exceptional.Would recommend if you just want to get full. Would also recommend eating/drinking fiber afterwards. Will return though! I really loved the sticky rice, and the Thai tea is better than at nearby boba shops.

I have been coming here for years. Throughout various chapters of my life, this place has provided consistently excellent food. I always get a spicy pad thai tofu with no bean sprouts, and they dont play games with the spice (which is exactly how I like it).The onions are perfectly crunchy, the noodles a beautiful mix of sweet and spicy, and the egg has a unique flavor that I cant seem to replicate no matter how hard I try.I dont like eating out too much, but I have to get my pad thai fix here weekly. Come here if youre looking for a crazy tasty pad thai.

I had just a short time and was by myself. I got Tom Ka Kai which was very good and generously portioned, and satay, which was passable. The peanut sauce was good, but the chicken wasnt grilled well at all. The individual pieces were well selected though. Each item was just under $10, and with tax and tip was a little more than I was expecting to pay after reading how cheap the place was. Overall a good experience, but Ill keep looking for that really special place.

The food was pretty good so I cannot complain flavor wise, just be sure to ask if you have an allergy such as egg because not all menu items have full ingredients listed and you may be getting something you cant eat.

I love this place so much. Don’t make the mistake I did initially and underestimate it based on the simple decor. It completely outclassed the other Thai places nearby, and is totally reasonably priced to boot. Hell, don’t tell them but I’d pay half again as much for anything on the menu! Pretty much any noodle dish here is a guaranteed win, but the traditional Thai noodle soup and pad kee mao are favorites I’ll always come back to.

These guys actually made my noodles spicy. Added a fried egg, it was cooked beautifully. Free Thai Ice Tea on Sundays really hit the spot. The joint is clean, the service good and the prices fair. Minus one star for the spring rolls the filling was mushy and bland.

Standard Thai restaurant that focuses more on the food than the decor.The Pad See Ew was spot on. The chicken was tender and not over cooked. The noodles werent too sticky or mushy. Requested that they make the dish hot instead of mild and it was definitely spicy.The Thai Ice tea was a bit on the sweet side for my taste.Overall this is a nice place for the price but nothing special.

Subpar service and severely understaffedWe called in to place an order but the individual who answered the phone told us to call back in 15 minutes. We called back in 15 minutes only to get a consistent dial tone. Thinking they were busy, we decided to drive over to place an order. in person. Once we arrived, there were only a 1 or two others in the store with us. We overheard another couple having waited nearly 2 hours from the time ordering to actually receiving their food. We stood there trying to get the attention of the cashier so we could simply place an order. After a few incoherent attempt at a conversation, we were handed a guest check receipt book to write in our own order. We handed our order to the cashier who exclaimed that they were not serving streamed rice although we tried to clarify that we did not want steamed rice and it was nowhere in our order. Exasperated, we left for a different restaurant without as much as an apology. We spent over an hour during this encounter simply trying to place an order. It was very obvious that this establishment values customers through food apps more than in person customers.Its worth noting that the cook did not have a mask on and the cashier wasnt wearing a mask properly. We also watched as the cashier took payment (cash/cards) while packaging and handling food without washing their hands.Looking back on it now, we were hungry and were willing to settle for this but im glad we left and ended up finding a much better alternative.

Delicious Thai restaurant just a few blocks away from Berkeley campus. We were able to find street parking just around the corner. Service was quick and our server was super friendly. We ate here one late afternoon and were seated right away! Generous portions and overall, delicious!

Quick & friendly service, affordable prices on a student and part timer budget!Just came here for the first time (although Ive walked past many times and now wish Id known about this place sooner!)I cant...stop...eating this red curry...such a good portion size, such good flavor and soothing, anti inflammatory warmth and curry deliciousness on this windy winter day. Hiding out on UC campus chowing down on this.... I Definitely recommend Lucky House!

This is a good place for take out or eat in. We buy 3 or 4 dishes and share with our club. Chicken curry and eggplant hot dish are delicious. The price is not too high. No long lines either.

Ive been a customer here since 2003. I love their food, atmosphere, the people, and the owner is very very sweet and nice. My favorite food is Pad Kee Mao chicken, & it comes with free Thai iced tea to boot! definitely one of my top choices to go to when hungry.

My experience was even better the second time.Me, boyfriend and AlexY came here at 9:54pm to get food for a celebration. The Host was welcoming friendly, even after a long day. We ordered lots of food and she didnt mind...I love this place, and would recommend it to my Mom

I did a lot of looking in the East Bay and found Lucky House to have the best Pad Thai in the land. Since then I have tried about half the menu and not found anything I wouldnt reccomend. Ive brought all kinds of folks there and they agree. The place looks a bit shabby but it is more than made up for with warm service and wonderfully comforting Thai dishes.

Home of my favorite soup in the entire world! I live for noodle soup and I can honestly say this is the best noodle soup IVE EVER HAD! Hot and Sour Thai Noodle Soup with ground chicken, peanuts, veggies, noodles and the most incredible spicy broth. Do yourself a favor, you need this soup! Tastes amazing as a to-go order too!

The four of us had excellent food and service. The atmosphere was very relaxing. The menu is diverse. I had a vegetarian dish and it was excellent. I will definitely return to this restaurant as will my friends and husband.

On way home from Dr. office I picked up generous portions of Tom Kha soup. Brim full of vegetables in a delicious perfectly seasoned coconut broth. Excellent for recovering from a nasty cold! Thank you warm hearted happy cooks and waiter. You are helping shoo the cold on its way!

My sister and her boyfriend took me here for the first time and I LOVED it! The pad ke mau is the best pad ke mau I have ever tasted and they give free thai iced tea on Sundays. You cant go wrong! The prices are average and the service is decent. I definitely will come back. YUM :)

So underrated!!! Best Pad Kee Mao Ive had in a looong time. Relatively low spice levels; I always ask for spicy and it comes out medium IMO. Great pad ma keur (eggplant basil) and som tum (green papaya salad). Free Thai iced tea on Sundays! Friendly service! My go-to spot. Dont let the crowds fool you!
