Authentic. The menu looks like it has some amazing options, but I always end up getting one of the specials offered that night and have not been disappointed! Fantastically friendly staff. Reasonably priced for the quality and quantity. I would highly recommend, but i dont want you there, i want it to be my secret!

I was kinda shocked by my experience at Lupi Italian, after reading all the high praise for them on Google and Yelp. I’m not sure if it was an off night or what, but the food was legitimately awful.My family came here for Mother’s Day. We ordered calamari, lasagna, gnocchi, veal, and pizza. The lasagna was basically a soup, the veal was a complete mess (looked like slop), and the pizza, while it had prosciutto, was incredibly salty. The calamari and gnocchi were tolerable, though the tomato sauce was a bit sour.I hate to say, but I’d give this place 1 star if it wasn’t for the great service and hospitality from staff and management. Their attentiveness and pep is the one (almost) saving grace of this restaurant.

Our first time here and Im so glad we came. Best authentic Italian Cuisine weve had! The lasagna was AMAZING! Mouth watering and stayed hot thru the last bite! My husband ordered a seafood pasta dish, fresh shrimp and scallops in a red sauce over angel hair pasta. Highly recommend and will definitely be coming again on our next visit! Thank you for a fabulous dinner and top of the line service! 💜

I don’t know what’s going on lately but the bad meals are taking over! This place is next level bad though. Horrible. Disgusting. Kitchen is probably a health hazard.Inedible $28 VEAL SALTIMBOCCA with no prosciutto, chewy, flavorless, small tiny cutlets and they serve it with a small portion of a red pasta making the combination vomit worthy.THE POSITIVE REVIEWS HAVE TO BE FAKE. THERE IS NO WAY IT WAS JUST A BAD MEAL, OFF NIGHT FOR THEM. THERE IS NO QUALITY HERE!As I was picking up my food there was a table returning their pizza. I should have opened the meal right there and thoroughly embarrassed them as the poor excuse of Italians they are.Keep taking peoples money, your day will come!Wow this one has me on level ten of rage….how can you have a restaurant in bird rock and get away with this insulting food! We had a delightful evening at this restaurant on a recent trip to Bird Rock. The food and service were both excellent. My father-in-law had mentioned he was surprised when he’d ordered meatballs and the didn’t come with spaghetti, so our waitress, the chef’s niece, sent us home with a complimentary order of spaghetti and meatballs. As we were leaving, she ran out with an order of freshly made bread. I can understand why President Ford had Lupi’s cater his daughter’s wedding. It was a lovely place with wonderful people.

Wonderful small neighborhood Italian restaurant with a great variety of traditional dishes. Great food and great service. Away from the more congested parts of La Jolla so restaurant is easy to get to and parking is a available nearby. Chef/owner has been at this location for decades and takes great pride in his work. A true gem.

Great experience, excellent food! Also had a solid wine selection. Everyone here seems to be from Italy, so kind of feels like a mini vacation! Super sweet to our toddler, crayons, fun plastic cup, really quickly brought some bread out at the beginning.

This place deserves a 5 for a few reasons.1. YES is the answer you will get when you ask any question. Yes they could make us a meal even though it was closing time. Yes, they could make us a dish per our request. Yes, with a smile. Lola is fantastic!2. The food is excellent! We took it to go, so I imagine sitting down and enjoying it on site would be even better. The Lupi salad with pears and fresh mozzarella is incredible! The penne arrabiatta was delicious. The bread....omg the bread is perfection!3. They have a great outdoor patio with white twinkle lights in the heart of Bird Rock. So cute and welcoming.Cant wait to come back and enjoy dinner on site!

My girlfriend and I were on vacation from Arizona and ate here after having over-priced and underwhelming food everywhere else throughoutthe week. The food was so good that we went back the next night. Hospitality was a amazing and the owner / chef stepped out of the kitchen to meet us so I could personally tell him how good the food was. His niece was a DYNAMO! She did everything from serve, bus, expedite, clean, train new staff. Just an amazing place and service. I want to go back again, just so we can eat there!

Went for a birthday dinner tonight and there was no wait. Staff was super friendly!Delicious food with excellent service. The menu had an extensive list of options and both pasta dishes we ordered were phenomenal. Fresh bread and bruschetta sauce was served with parmesan while we waited for our food which was an unexpected yummy surprise.

Stopped in late (after the kitchen closed) and the owner treated us like family. She went out of her way to make something for us and make us feel special. The food was amazing, but the service was even better. We will definitely be stopping by again!

We needed a restaurant that would accommodate a party of 17 last minute. When we called, Lola was so nice and very happy to have us. She had our table waiting for us and made it so easy. The best part, the food is Amazing! Definitely recommend 👌

We ordered take out this week from Lupis. The food was amazing! Pick up service was easy and they gave us extra bread to enjoy with our pasta. The pasta was so fresh! The Cesar salad was more than enough for two people, could problem split it 3 or 4 ways. Definitely going back soon!

Amazing food and great service. The food is hot and the service makes you feel warm. I highly recommend this restraint for food. The only bad thing is there is a 1 in 20 chance the food will be 4 stars and not 5 stars.

This is a very nice fancy place that serves very nice fancy food and has a great very nice fancy atmosphere. I come here for every valentines day and anniversary. Their food is appropriately priced due to how great it tastes. Come here, you wont regret it!

Good food, a little pricey. The only reason I wont be coming back is because after we finished our very expensive meal and paid our bill, we sat and listened to the live music. We felt very rushed to leave even though it was not busy and there were plenty of open tables. They kept staring at us and didnt offer to refill our waters.
