2024-05-06 17:15:59This was such a pleasant experience. It is rare to find good Austrian food stateside and this is among the very best I’ve had. The schnitzel was authentic and perfect. It took me back. The items on the menu are innovative while also respecting traditional Austrian ingredients, beautifully plated, and not heavy or cream based. They have a huge assortment of different coffees and desserts like in a real Viennese coffee shop. And the design of the space is so happy and open and modern. A great place to host a dinner. The service was attentive and the chef and server and bartender all made conversation with us which made us feel warm and welcome. I will definitely be returning.

2024-06-14 00:12:29The ambiance is very chill and trendy. The staff is very friendly. The food is to die for! I am usually lukewarm on sausages, but the sausages here are HEAVENLY! MUST TRY! Also, everything else we ordered were excellent as well. Gotta go back to try the rest of the menu. While you are there, see if you can spot the chef. Hint: hes probably one of the tallest person youve ever seen. Enjoy!

2024-03-12 05:56:37Cool and vibrant restaurant! It’s not your typical Austrian restaurant. Cocktails and drinks are fabulous, Eric at the bar does a great job to create your desired cocktail. Weiner Schnitzel was one of the best I’ve had in LA, I would go back for drinks and Weiner Schnitzel.

2024-02-18 04:18:47New Restaurant Alert! Lustig Restsurant, an Austrian concep by Chef Bernhard Maringer next door to Father’s Office in Culver City. They have been in soft opening since 12/30. Just going to say it, the WeinerSchnitzel is much better than Spago’s. It is more tender, a little thicker, and the breading is crunchy and juicy. The lingonberries on the side were also a nice complement. Another hit was the chicken liver profiteroles with their rich and velvety filling that worked w the dark chocolate and the verjus gelee. The surprise of the night was the beef cheek souerbraten that was tender as thick lengua. The spatzle was perfectly executed and not overcooked like so many. I also recommend the roasted beet salad w vanilla goat cheese and crispy Brussels sprouts. The breads and spreads were served warm and we ate every last crumb. The wine list has plenty of gruner veltliner and Blaufrankish. Unfortunately, they are not going to budge on the two bottle max for corkage. #thefoodietraveler2nd visit: Overtly dumbed down. Upon checking in the hostess aggressively argued w me over the seating arrangements we made on open table and I had to pull out my chats to “prove it.” Later, we were disappointed by food not executed nearly as well as we prior visit, such as soggy profiteroles, missing beets in beet salad, not crispy wienerschnitzel, spatzle replaced with potatoes on the sourbraten. And the most infuriating and insulting was we had requested ketchup not curry sauce w the fries which they did not bring until no more fries. So then we ordered another order of fries . They should have comped us for the second order but instead they charged us $2 for ketchup. We know where we are not welcome and we will not be returning.

2024-01-30 02:09:43Great service and yummy food! We came as a 4 top and tried several dishes as shared plates. Everyone loved everything we ordered. The servers, hosts and bartender were all very friendly and attentive and offered great recommendations. We had drinks, appetizers, mains and desserts! It was a great time.

2024-01-27 15:19:38As German in LA, Ive been looking for a restaurant that takes me home with its tastes for the last two years. Finally found that, at an Austrian restaurant. We had an amazing experience starting with a very attentive staff. Our server was very knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable with little stories and a congenial style. Well blame one little slip of forgetting a wine on the pre-opening state.I really enjoyed the Laugen (Brezel) as part of the Brotzeit with some great butter. As main, the Wiener Schnitzel was very high-quality with the right amount of breading and crunch. My girlfriend and her dad enjoyed the Sauerbraten, which was super tender. One suggestion for the Sauerbraten: I would offer more sauce on the side as standard, as the tart sauce makes this dish (my mum makes the family recipe for Christmas every year). The Millefeullie was a great light dessert. For the Kaiserschmarrn you should have some extra room in the other stomach. The taste was lovely tho with a fluffy consistency.Drinks were delicious from the house lemonade (despite it having carrot juice in it) to the wines to the coffee after. All in all, a great experience.

2024-02-16 16:25:15We experienced Lustig last night as a party of 8.Since the pandemic, there has been a sharp downward spiral in the quality, creativity and service in the restaurant industry that has left us dreaming of a recovery. Last night at Lustig, we found out excellence is still possible! We ate up more than the food, we ate the care, the attention to every detail.Cauliflower panacota topped with caviar, ratatouille pizza, raclette cheese pizza, variety of warm homemade breads with dips, wagyu New York steak, the crown item was the wienershitzel, delicately salads and to die for desserts like apple streusel, but the queen of desserts was Kaiser pancake dessert!I could get into the drinks but that had a whole backstory of what a novel selection of drinks they had. I’m glad we went as a big party so we could experience so many dishes. If traveling is not readily accessible to you then let your tongue and senses do the traveling for you while you sample a meal here. My hat is off to the Chef and his team.

2024-03-23 23:26:34If only LA restaurant had the magic formula like Lustig has! Every bite was perfectly flavored and prepared. The menu was extensive without being overwhelming. The setting and decor is chic and inviting without being overly “energetic.” And the service (Rhea rocks!) was sublime. Can’t wait to come back for dinner.

2024-03-15 20:20:11I had the chicken schnitzel for lunch. It wasnt as good as schnitzel Ive had in Europe or even in Solvang but it was decent, however it was expensive for what I got. I was slightly annoyed by the tiny size of the water glass. The server was very attentive with refilling it but he had to come over every few minutes because the glass only held like two gulps.
