Extremely Disappointing Experience - Subpar Service and Mediocre FoodLet me start by addressing the service aspect. Upon entering the restaurant, we were completely ignored by the staff. No one bothered to seat us or provide menus. We tried to make ourselves comfortable by looking at the food pictures on the wall. When we finally managed to order two portions of noodles, the servers didnt even bother to bring us small bowls. As non-Korean speakers, we were practically invisible to the staff, and only with the help of a Korean-speaking couple at the neighboring table, we were able to get some attention and borrow their bowls. The lack of air conditioning made the situation worse, especially when we ordered both hot soup noodles and cold noodles. My friend eating the cold noodles ended up sweating throughout the meal.The most absurd part was settling the bill. We had to ask the server three times to bring us the check, but it seemed like we were invisible to them. Meanwhile, other customers, who could communicate in Korean, were promptly attended to, and they had already left while we stood waiting at the checkout counter for an unreasonably long time. Adding insult to injury, they even charged us for To-Go Boxes, a ridiculous one-dollar fee per box. With these To-Go Boxes, they are practically profiting even more.Now, lets discuss the food. We ordered Kimchi Handcut Noodle and Cold Elastic Spicy Noodle. Both dishes were disappointing. The noodles lacked any firmness and had a mushy texture, like something youd find in cheap store-bought instant noodles. The kimchi soup was underwhelming, without any distinctive flavor. Frankly, K-Town has much better noodle shops with far superior service. Even the cold noodles were mediocre, and Ive had better ones from a pack bought at H-Mart. I noticed others ordered soybean cold noodles, but considering the terrible service, I have no intentions of revisiting this place.To sum it up, the food falls into the average category, nothing worth going out of your way for. As for the service, it was simply unacceptable. Ive come across negative reviews about their service on other platforms, but I didnt take them seriously until I experienced it firsthand. If youre in the mood for an incredibly disappointing service, by all means, pay them a visit.
One of the workers was so rude and hurriedly kept dropping off my food to my table and was just cold, so I decided to not tip and she CHASED AFTER me asking me why - to have her leave me alone, I gave her cash and she just made this entire experience 10x worse. If you dont tip, theyll literally chase after you even if their service is terrible and dont deserve it
Amazing dishes at an amazing price. Staff is also very welcoming and kind. I tried the Chicken Homemade Noodles and the Mixed Spicy Noodles. Both were really great, but I feel Id give the edge to the homemade noodles because the broth was delicious and the noodles brought a uniqueness to the whole dish.
I was so sad that Hyesung Noodle House has closed but this place also hits the spot for chicken kalguksu! The handmade noodle texture is perfect the the soup is very light and comforting. The mandu were huge and they serve you kimchi and pickled veggies as your banchan!
Great little place for Korean traditional dishes. Nothing fancy but very clean, no MSG, and friendly service. All servers speak English which hard to find in K town. It is well worth to go try it. The pictures show SanChe Bibimbob and Kimchi Kalgooksoo.
First I want to say that I was really excited to come here because I love trying Korean restaurants and new foods but this restaurant wasnt. The workers that were working here didnt have any patience at all when we tried to order. They didnt give us any drinks or even offer some water. I like the dumplings I must admit they were good but the cold noodles werent really good. In the end we said thank you and a lady came running toward us and asked for a tip $5 and up and I was shocked cause she was yelling at me so I gave her a tip that was 10 dollars because I didnt have any more money. One way to know if the Korean restaurant you’re eating at has authentic food is if a lot of the patrons are older Korean people. Came here for outdoor dining and there were tons of older Koreans either eating or waiting to be seated. Old school noodle spot that’s been here forever. We ordered the feast noodles and the kimchi kalgooksoo (#’s 1 and 2), great traditional flavors.

Handmade noodles were delicious. Very few restaurants would make fresh noodles themselves nowadays! Complimentary kimchi and other picked vegetables paired well with rice and noodles as well. I also got hot stone bibimbap. Even though this place is known for noodles, the bibimbap was very enjoyable. People working in the restaurant didnt speak very good English but they were all very friendly and the service was good. The whole place felt like home. The only thing I would not recommend is the steam dumpling, just get the noodles, or the rice dishes.

Everything was much nicer 3 year ago. I used to get noodles here for Korean comfort foods that reminds me of home. Servers used to be nicer and polite. Food was better and delicious. Now days just the price itself is way expensive and foods are not special at all. Forgot to mention about their cleanness is below average. So not worth spending the money here anymore.

Food is good, service is efficient for a place that is busy and understaffed. If you just want to be fed with solid Korean noodles, come. If you want to be waited on, go elsewhere because staff doesnt have time to indulge you 😉
This used to be my favorite place in koreatown, now its so dirty i dont even want to walk inside, the waitresses are predudice and rude. Nothing like it used to be. It was an embarrassing experience. NO GOOD !!!How does this even pass inspection. If not clean, not sanitized !!! Especially times like these places should be cleaner.

Wanted to eat kimchi kalgooksu but didn’t have it. Ended eating something I didn’t like that was super salty, in a super sweaty place. No ac during lunch in the middle of July.
A small little korean noodle joint that serves a variety of noodle dishes. they also sell mandoo (dumplings), ddeukbokki (spicy rice cake. theirs is not too spicy though), and other yummy korean goodies. Tried the konggooksoo 콩국수 and the kalgooksoo 칼국수. the portions are big, and the taste is very homey.

The service was lackluster, we were not given water, we were pressured by the staff to order in a hurry, and the meal took ages to arrive. After our meal, the owner had the nerve to come to our table demanding a higher tip than the 15% we had already given. We asked local Korean customers and they said that they never leave a tip. We were demanded a high tip just for not being Korean. Moreover, this establishment is dirty, poorly maintained, and has multiple health hazards in the form of rotting food left unattended upon entering. This is an absolute embarrassment.

Excellent boon shik (comfort food) place. Always great food and reasonably priced. Does not cut corners. Spicy squid dish has ample amount of squid (there are places…I won’t shame them…that chop them sooo small that it belongs in k-pancakes) and great kargooksoo. It’s actually hand made hand cut (best texture on kargooksoo served here). They make their own kimchis. owner lady cooks 6 days a week, truly mom’s cooking/kitchen any day of the week.
Not worth it. Worst service ever. Their food are okay but Im not gonna go there again due to the worst service. My mom ordered a menu to go and waited for over 30 minutes at the outside even though food were ready and sitting inside for a long time. The waitress treated her inappropriately and made the food get cold by let it sit for about 30 minute even she asked a few times. The waitress asked her to get outside and wait until she is called while the food was there. No apologies at all. There are many great Korean restaurant around the area with great service. So try somewhere else.. It is ultimately your choice but im pitching out based on my worst experience.
They have outdoor seating along side BCDs. The noodles were a bit soggy by the time we got home to eat but the soup was yum! They also sell sweet kimchi, reg kimchi and daikon by the jar in small and large sizes. It was so much better than supermarket bought ones. Get it!

Very nice restaurant. It is open right now during the pandemic and theyre doing a good job with social distancing. Mask required! Authentic Korean food. They only have ham sausage stuffed Kimbap roll (as opposed to beef or tuna), but its very tasty at a very reasonable price. The mountain veggies over rice + beef is a large dish and truly bang for the buck.
The Korean BBQ is finger liking good. I wasnt feeling well when I arrived and the soup with the egg was on point. I was able to eat the sides but my party was happy they ate it all and the waitress brought out another round of sides. Oh yeah! Almost forgot about the fried fish that had so many small bones I ended up swallowing some. All in all my party and I enjoyed the service & the food. 😁

Love this place in the summer times especially.As they serve the best cold bean noodles.Almost like the ones my grandmother used to make for us back home.The lines could be a bit of a wait, but well worth it.I went about 30min earlier than meal times to avoid the crowds (major crowds)
First time here after eyeing this spot for so long. It was everything I wanted. Delicious home style cooking, service was nice, food came out quickly. I love the variety of items. Food came with good Kim chi and a couple other sides. Ordered the dumplings and spicy cold noodles. Everything was great. Prices are very excellent. Can’t recommend highly enough.
Great Korean noodle spot for cold dry noodles and soup noodles!My cousin recommended this place and it did not disappoint. They serve you cold pickled white radish, red kimchi and white kimchi as your complementary sides. We ordered the chicken soup with hand cut noodles for the kids as well as pork cutlet (more of a Japanese dish), but the kids were satisfied. I ordered the kimchi noodle soup and it was only a little spicy, but overall flavor was excellent. We also shared steamed dumplings to share which everyone loved.The staff was so patient and friendly, it felt like eating at one of my Korean familys homes. They have one restroom here and only around nine to ten tables. Also, parking is free!I would definitely come back when Im in the area.
Great place for cheap Korean food. Got the spicy noodles and bibimbap and both portions were huge! Parking can be a pain during the weekend and lines can get long since it is a pretty small place. I do like that while youre waiting they come take your order so when you do get a table, the food comes out quickly.
Fresh chewy handmade noodles FTW!I found this place after looking up cold noodles. Although they do serve cold noodles, they are known more for their delicious handmade noodles.By the time we got there around noon, the restaurant was already packed so we waited outside for about 10 minutes before we got seated. We both ordered the handmade noodles with clam. It came in a yummy creamy broth with squash and potatoes. The portion sizes of our noodle bowls were HUGE and for only around $7 it was quite a steal! I even had enough leftovers for dinner and even though the noodles were sitting in the broth for several hours, Im happy to report that they didnt turn into mush when I reheated it for dinner last night!
All of the cooks in the kitchen are middle aged Korean ladies. Need I say more? Their food is authentic, fresh, and delicious! Their menu is not as large as a lot of the bigger Korean restaurants in Los Angeles but what they do have on the menu .. they do it right! They dont have that many banchan (Korean side dishes) but the ones they do have are super yummy and have the perfect amount of seasoning to ensure your mouth is full of happiness hehe~ The parking in front of the restaurant is not plentiful but it is attached to another parking lot for the rest of the plaza surrounding it so you can always park there. The prices are all under $10 and all of the dishes come with a generous amount of food. They use red pepper flakes so a lot of the flavor is there but not all of the overpowering spiciness that jalapenos can bring to Korean dishes so dont be scared of the super red coloration of their dishes!
Decent place. Nice cold soybean noodles! Best Ive had in a restaurant, but still really gritty. I think this is one of those dishes that just will never compare to making at home, but its such a hassle to make at home, so this is a close second. Nice on a hot day!
Poor ServiceI have visited here for lunch today, experienced the worst service ever. First, I had to move during eating due to the other party which was 5, while I was sitting alone. And the waitress, an old Korean lady, tried to take my meal away even when I wasn’t done yet. The food was good enough, but the people who work here maybe suit to Korea where they dont have to care about getting tipped.

I would give this place 6 starts if I could. STRAIGHT FIRE!Its a humble steel noodle place, and does justice all around. My latinx friends and I came here; pretty sure we were the only people speaking English. I felt like I had finally gotten to know a realer part of K-Town that I would normally not visit.The foods great! I was so glad that the bowl of noodles came out piping hot, so that I had to slurp for actual reasons, rather than just aesthetic. I want to come here more often than Ill ever be able to, and thats okay.

You may not believe my experience here: if u are planning to go to this place paying with credit card, i suggest you read my story:I went here order some food for here first, then order some take out for my roommates. I paid twice for each of the order and pay for the tip in the first bill. The second bill is the take out one which is 5 dollars. I signed with 5 dollar in total. Because I already pay the tip in the first bill in all. But after I went home, check my chase account. This restaurant charged me 15.00! WTH?? They use pen to add another 1 in front of my 5 dollars!!!! How amazing!!! Food quality was average but this kind of trick, sucks! Never again!
Hole-in-the-wall experience, limited seating, terrible parking, but oh so worth!!! Im Korean so I know and appreciate good Kal Gook Su and this is the best Ive had in Los Angeles County. I drive 45 minutes one way when the urge to eat home-made noodles in rich broth hits me. Their dumplings are also supposed to be great, but every time I go theyve run out. Maybe today Ill get there early enough!
This place was recommended by a Korean friend as being authentic Korean home cooking. Everything we ordered was delicious and they brought more kimchee and broth than we could ever consume. Will be returning.
The ladies there are always friendly. Food is great, except if you are on low-carb diet. Noodle is the main star among all the dishes that are all very homemade.
Have had their chicken kalgooksoo twice, both times perfect for a cold winter day. Their broth is very creamy and thick compared to other kalgooksoos Ive had, but definitely still very good. Main selling point is the price: $8 for a huge bowl of noodles. Highly recommended, second only to Hangari Bajirak imo
Giant portions (leftovers lasted me 2 sittings), 10 to 11$ usually, cheapest on the menu is 7$ gimbap which is still pretty yummy! Fresh young kimchi as well not super fermented.

A friend who lived in LA recommended this place to me as a restaurant for Janchi Noodles, so I visited. The banquet noodles and bibim noodles were both delicious and the portions were very generous and plentiful. The dumplings were not that good because the skin was thick. The staff is friendly, but its a shame theres no price list on the menu. I ordered three and it came to $46.71.

The bibim noodles were so delicious and plentiful! Its a bit too expensive considering Korean noodles (approximately $19 including tip), but its still enough to whet your appetite. It was nice to have vinegar on the side.It is said that the price for the submission container is $0.50. However, if there is only a small amount left, please provide Styrofoam soup bowls and other containers for free :) The malls own parking lot was spacious and free, which was even better.

I ordered the right food, but even though the staff took the wrong order, we ate the wrong food.When I went to the seat I was first shown to, the staff told me to move to another seat, saying they had to make dumplings, and most of them had no intention of serving me.We thought it was just for us, but it was the same for other guests as well.They tell customers who submit their food that they have served food and that they should put it on any table and take it, but most employees are like that.I cant eat food happily.
I had bibim noodles, banquet noodles, kalguksu, tteokbokki, and kimbap, and they were all so delicious~🥰 The seasoning for the bibim noodles was just right, not spicy, and the tteokbokki rice cakes were really soft and chewy!
I didnt like waiting for a long time, so I ordered over the phone and was told it would take 15-20 minutes, so I came 15 minutes later, paid, and waited. I waited for a long time, but it didnt come out, so I asked, and my order didnt come through. In the end, I ordered some noodles and waited for an hour to eat them.

Its been a long time since I went to a tasteless restaurant. Chicken gomtang is like chewing paper. It looks like frozen chicken was added directly. I wonder where the service was given to the dog... The old lady is not rude to her family. When I asked to pack up the leftovers, they said it was 50 won per container. Im never going again. I told the people around me and my co-workers not to go there again. Really low quality restaurant. And why were there so many flies flying around? It was very bad for hygiene.

They dont accept Amex cards, but the noodles are excellent. And the portion size is large, so you can eat it really heartily. Rather, it is so generous that women and ordinary people have leftovers. Bibim noodles are also delicious. It was great to be able to eat the udon thickly in a well-cooked broth. During lunch time, there are no seats so you have to wait. However, you can enjoy a delicious and plentiful meal at a low price, so you end up waiting. Because it is an old, well-known restaurant, there are always a lot of customers, but I wish the interior facilities could be made a little more luxurious. Don’t say it doesn’t matter if there are a lot of customers, but ask them to improve to ensure customer satisfaction.

Honestly, I think its better than the soft tofu in Bukchang-dong that I went to next door yesterday. I really enjoyed the banquet noodles and bean noodles.
Once its delicious Kalguksu, bean guksu, and gimbap are also old-fashioned, and its best to eat them with kimchi!! A restaurant for the elderly in LAAs you get older, your taste buds get pickier. 80% of the elderly customers here are like that.
Korean snacks were delicious. The noodles were especially delicious. Next time I come to the US, I have to go again!
Isn’t cleanliness a priority these days?Even when wiping tables, I pass over several tables with dishcloths or rags.They didnt clean up the 5 tables and didnt care if customers came or left, and of course they were working. I have to eat, but...

Kalguksu is delicious. Jjolmyeon, dumplings, gimbap, and spaghetti are all delicious. Even though its been 20 years, its still delicious. Pot udon is now being served in a bowl because a little boy took care of it. Parents should take good care of their little ones.Not tasty. It was delicious when it came out hot in a yellow pot. Its sad. Pot udon is now.....So 4 ☆☆☆☆. It was 5☆ before.

2023-10-31 09:31:30Traditional Korean food place. Specialized in noodles. Maybe a bit difficult for non Korean speakers. Their kimchee and bibimbap were great. However, the specialty noodle was just okay.

It’s the ultimate mom-and-pop shop, one of those that really helped define K-town over the years. This place is packed during meal times, but man, nothing hits better than a cold kongguksu on a hot summer day or a warm chicken kalkuksu when the temperature dips. Love the vibes here.

2023-06-27 06:29:38This place is an authentic Korean restaurant at almost a hard-core level. You would rarely find American guests, as it is that authentic and may not cater to many American tastes. The spicy Korean noodle dish is pretty great with the right amount of chewiness. The staff are super friendly and helpful

2020-08-08 05:58:40It’s a local Korean noodle spot. The menu is on the wall. The portions are huggeeee! Everything was delicious and comforting. The seafood noodle is excellent for cold days and the cold noodles are great for summer! We also had a ton to take home! There’s also plenty of parking in the lot. Highly recommend.

2017-08-28 16:43:41I came here with some friends for an early lunch and was amazed. The place gets crowded so we got there around 11:30 and sat quickly. The menu is on the wall and you order by pictures. Everything is below $10 for the most part, and extremely large portions. They also serve roasted barley and corn tea, which is delicious! I recommend coming and earlier, since it was already getting crowded as we were leaving.
