When I get a craving for hotpot, this is the first place that comes to mind.Their soup bases are tasty, with a variety of meat and vegetable options. The service is always friendly and inviting.The only thing they need to worry about is upgrading their tables and chairs. I believe the heat from the hotpot cracked the table, making it appear unsafe and uneven when they placed the pot on the mini oven inside the table.

Food is fantastic here. Came here last month with my wife and we had a blast here. It is a bit pricy in my opinion but it was worth it and I was very satisfied. There was a very interesting drink that was my favourite due to the bottle(very clever) I would for sure come back here the next time I visit Irvine.

Hands down the best hot pot around. The mushroom soup broth is so flavorful! I always bring our out of town guests here and they love it so much they want to come back the next day to have it again. Lots of umami flavor and taste that is unmatched by other hot pot places.

This is a speciality hot pot with skewers; unlike the conventional hot pot that you have the sliced meat mostly, but instead you have diced meat on skewers. Two major differences between the skewer hot pot and conventional hot pot:1. The diced meat is more tender and juicer.2. The soup is condensed and very oily making the skewer hot pot cooking like half boiling and half frying.

If you dont want to eat spicy, you can try the bottom of their mushroom soup pot, which is also very delicious. There is also Fragrant spicy pot for those who want to eat spicy but don’t want to eat too spicy . They give you everything you need to make a successful hotpot even if you have zero cooking skill - soup base in a specialty designed bag (think refillable hand wash) / flavor mix in a plastic container / table cover / bib / a box of napkins / dipping sauce in a tray that act as a plate for your food and utensils. If you want true authentic casual Sichuan food experience in LA. Then this is the one.Why?They offer better value than most Sichuan Restaurant due to portion are smaller so it be easier for individual or two. A lot of time you had bring a group to dine most of sichuan restaurant due to the cost and portion size.The interior is very like 80 and early 90s Chinese Vibe.They had the pork brain dish which sound kinda exotic but actually is very tasty.Their skewers is very reasonable price and the key is you get to try many different variety for the same price as other place that limited to fewer food.This place is extremely popular and always a long wait unless you come before it open or hour before closing.

Sad story. At first, I was extremely satisfied with the food, price and services. And I recommend it. However, this is a one-star restaurant because they deleted my review on DealMoon. We visited twice, the first time is so nice so we brought our friends to visit again. Things changed at the second time, one waiter denied the Coupon from “DealMoon”, which actually worked just few days earlier. The waiter made up an excuse that they do not accept that coupons if I’m not DealMoon VIP. So I went to DealMoon, checked again. Never mentioned any VIP thing. I commented about the coupon issue on DealMoon, trying to remind other customers. What surprised me is that they removed my comment from DealMoon quickly. Good trick!

The place is nice. Love the outdoor dining and how it is setup. The staff are responsible and acts quickly.The food is not too bad. There do have an large selection of picture of vegetables and meat. Also lots of intestines and such. I do like the soup. It is very tasty and the sauce and spice is good.I will said that it is a little too overpriced for what it is. I probably wont return due to the price, but it is a good experience overall.

Also, last call was 1 hr before closing, not to mention they turn off the AC 45 min before closing in an attempt to clear out the place? Theres boiling pots still on..why would you do such a thing. After watching some Chinese drama, I always wanted to eat at a place like this. I have never tried the skewer hot pots. I always had the normal one where its just the ingredients and you put the food in the pot to cook. I guess the skewer version is the same as the normal hot pot except there is stick attached to the meat you are cooking. I find it cleaner especially if you are eating with other people and your meat is not lost in the pot. I would definitely be coming back here with friends. As for the pricing, you order a la carte for each type of item. For two of us, we spent around $50 each person excluding tip. A pro tip, come early bc parking at that plaza can get packed. We got there around 4:50ish for an early dinner and we were the first table there. By the time we finished, the inside seating at restaurant was packed and the parking lot was full. Fyi, this was on a Sunday night. I cant wait to come back. Also, if you cannot handle spicy, there is a non-spicy soup base or your can order the combo of spicy and non-spicy soup base.

Feels a bit weird with everything coming on disposable silverware and china. Food is cheap but you get very little $1.90 for 5 skewers of quarter piece of shiitake mushroom. 3.80 for less than 3oz of meat. You order through an app no Chinese just English so some translations might need some work. The staff is a bit overwhelmed, the drinks were half cold half room temp. 720pm seating time for a 7 reservation.

According to Google translate ma lu bian bian means by the side of the roadSitting down and taking in the quirky decor gave me second thoughts, but between the first hesitant round of skewers, while waiting for the second giant round to cook, those second thoughts blossomed into what I can only describe as phantom nostalgia. Glad to have retuned, even though Id never been before.The more I thought about it the more I felt like this place must have been a created by someone who was very much a student of the craft but without losing the joy inherent in sharing a big pot of inexpensive tiny bites.The childish impatience of waiting for your next set to finish, the way the thought its just a quarter finishes your allowance way faster than you expected, theres a mural on one wall of a 90s video arcade which makes more sense the more you think about it, next to it is a mural of a cast of well known characters which maybe wouldnt usually be seated together, but of course they would come together to share the quotidian pleasure of a good meal and good company.I think these are the things they are going for, and I think they deliver. The taste is very good, the only downside is that the takeaway portion of the same maocai is really much less than that in the store, especially the side dish bean sprouts.
