Nice little korean joint in the oelton plaza. This place offers a modern interior with a semi korean twist. The wings here are pretty bomb. Fast korean food.
Ive been coming here for a while since they opened (not recently) and was surprised to see they dont have too many reviews. The food here is pretty good, might be the best Korean food in San Leandro even. But my thing is soft tofu soup and Im biased because the soft tofu soup here is fantastic. Some of the other menu items might be a little bit over priced, but options for Korean food close by are limited so it makes sense.
Best Korean food Ive had in a very long time. We ordered the bulgogi plate and tofu kimchi stew, and both were super delicious! Beef was a premium cut and well-marinaded, and the kimchi stew had a lot of depth and flavor - you can tell they spent the time and used real ingredients to make their own broth. Maejoo is my new go-to for Korean, and well try the chicken next time. So glad we wont have to drive far anymore for a decent tofu stew.
Great little restaurant. Excellent short ribs and sides. I eat here often and have had a great experience every time.
This place was super tasty! Staff was very friendly and attentive. Ordered the seafood pancake, spicy tofu soup and the rice noodle dish whose name is escaping me, but was mildly addictive. I wasn’t super hungry when I walked in and I inhaled about half of the noodle and half the pancake and both were large. Definitely going back.
This is a gem of a place. For a new Korean restaurant the chef comes from many years of experience as the successful owner of a catering business in the demanding Silicon valley. Her flavors are just right for the American palate but also perfect for the seasoned Korean customers. Will I go back? Of course, you just can not have enough of a good thing. Outstanding Seafood pancake, there are many dishes to talk about but it is best to try them and be your own judge. I recommend this place.
When I saw the Tofu Salad, I was like 😲😱.I had to order it. The food was so delicious 😋😍.You cant eat inside the restaurant, but you can eat outside.The staff was so kind and helpful, I will definitely come back again!Its so worth your time!You have to Try this place... 🤗😇
Lemon pepper wings made me wonder where the chemicals were from, definitely did not taste like something for human consumption. Sweet chili was decent as well as basic white rice, but the chemical seasoning I will never get over!
Visiting from Colorado and was looking for a place to eat. This place is delicious!!!! There was not a single that we tried that wasnt great. We didnt realize that wings were their specialty. The server brought us four wings out to try for free. Exceptional service and exceptional food!
This place opened up brand new and it is fantastic. Really good Ramyun and Fried Chicken, made with very fresh ingredients and a lot of love.The Spicy Fried Chicken was especially amazing and is something Im going to try and get again. Also the spicy ramyun is not too spicy and has a lot of flavor to it. I am definitely adding this to one of my new favorite spots in the downtown area. They are fairly new and are off to a great start!
I wouldn’t recommend this place.I was very disappointed at the quality and quantity of the food.First of all, the side dish tasted terrible.Kimchi was too sour which means it had been kept for some time and the fish sausage was way too dry.I know this because I’ve been to other Korean restaurants.I ordered bibimbap on hot stone bowl and it was the smallest tiny quantity for a $14 meal. An 8 year old girl could go hungry over it.If you’ve been to other Korean restaurants and still like this place, what can I say.But if you’re a newbie to Korean food, go to another Korean restaurant.
Loved the food before 2020 craziness and was happy to see them starting up again with take out. Tofu rice bowl, wings and tots were excellent and we’ll be ordering from here often!

Cute restaurant that just opened a few months ago. We ordered the short rib lunch special and chicken hot stone bowl. The bowl was more than enough food for me. And the rice crisped perfectly at the bottom. Unfortunately there is no bathroom inside.
The waitress is very friendly. The food is amazing and they have a good price for Korean food. It’s a nice place to eat. I always go there for Korean food. The waitress really do take cares of you. It’s a nice place. Love the food. And love the service.
I read about this place in an article about new and upcoming eateries in San Leandro and Im so glad that I did. After spending six months going to school in Seoul I developed a craving for everyday Korean cuisine, no fancy or fusion style, which can be a challenge to find. I ordered my college staple, the dolset bibimbap with bulgogi, and it came out of the kitchen legitimately sizzling at the temperature it should be. They were very generous with the sauces as well as the banchan (side dishes). However the crowning jewel of the evening was their green onion and seafood pancake. The pancake was huge and the outside fried to a crispy perfection. I needed a steak knife to cut a piece off. Last but not least, the service was fantastic, everyone was so friendly and checked in on me often. Looking forward to going back soon!
I bought a takeaway here today. The food inside makes me feel terrible. This is the worst Korean meal I have ever eaten. It is expensive and the portion is small. I don’t think it’s worth looking forward to. The shop is small and No service
Amazingly underrated!! Tried to visit many different times but the obtuse hours made it challenging. Eventual made it and everything, from the environment, service, and food was top notch. Its great to have a little piece of South Korea in San Leandro. Will revisit in the near future!
Looks really promising but I wish they would update their ordering process. I went through the whole thing online, picking some items, hoping to get in before they closed - which says online 10 pm. I go to pay and I cant do it. Theres no message, final step in the process is just grayed out, very frustrating. So I call, and the voicemail picks up, and it says their hours, which on Friday nights is until 10 pm. By this point I wasted about 20 minutes trying to order online. So I call back one more time, and someone picks up, and I ask if I can order - its about 9:45 at this point. Oh sorry, we take out last order at 9:30, so were actually closed now.🤷🏻♂️Not a huge deal, Im sure the food is delicious as everyone says, but wow that was a huge waste of time and Im still hungry. Please update your online listings with this information that you stop taking orders a half hour before closing and maybe make it impossible to wander through the online ordering system up until the last step when youre actually closed.
The flavor and crunch of the wings are excellent. Got honey soy and parmesan furikake this time around, cant wait to try the others. Also I could get addicted to their lava pickles (daikon pickles with a strong taste of jalapeño).
My new favorite restaurant in San Leandro. I work in San Leandro, but dont live here, so sometimes its hard to find new places. I went here two days in a row - the food was that good. The spicy vegetarian ramen is fantastic and I dream about the gyoja salad. Give it a try!
The food is beyond phenomenal! I can definitely say it is one of the best korean fried chicken places you can go to in norcal! If you are in the area, I highly recommend you check this place out!
Enjoyed the food but you can only choose 2 flavors whether you order 6 wings or 30 wings. It would be nice to be allowed at least 3 flavors when ordering 30 wings.
The food here is great. I tried the BBQ shortrib lunch. I didnt have to wait long for a seat, or for my food. The flavor was delicious. I left satisfied and would most likely return for more
Please note that there is no restroom for customers. Also the lot is paid parking.Food tastes good, just the portion may not big enough for some. Kids were able to finish it all, which is great- no food wasted.
Came by 1pm. Not crowded. Everything is tidy. Window is clean. The kimchi is actually sour. Just how I wanted. I like to break down the chunky soft tofu myself 💞.
I did not feel welcomed there. I felt like they wanted me to hurry up and leave. Maybe they don’t like fat people. You should be giving The highest hospitality to everyone who walks in if you want to be top rated.

Pretty basic korean American place with the Americanized usuals- tofu soup, all kind of bibimbop, meats etc. good for non Koreans but just meh for those looking for good good authentic korean food.
Small space, cheaper than other Korean places, we ordered appetizers only and left, but it turned out very tasty.
Love the simplicity of grey white black decor and menu. Hot stone pot was amazing and unusual banchan of nuts seeds figs.

We ordered right when we arrived as we were aware the kitchen would be closed at 9:45PM. At 9:50PM. The middle aged woman who was working the register was telling us that they are already closing and rushing us. She also wasn’t kind to begin with.

The service was wonderful, the chef is amazing, and the best kimchi weve ever eaten... we even took extra home! You can tell the food is all home cooked traditional Korean food, and you can taste it in every single dish. We ordered pork gyoja, sweet soy glazed chicken wings, spicy pork, and bbq spare ribs. Hats off to the chef!!

On this visit, we ordered a spicy pork bimbimbap stone pot with a large order of fried chicken (half just fried & half sweet soy glazed). I loved both dishes. Highly recommend you give them a try.

Her cooking combines traditional Korean recipes with the precision that comes from classical training as a chef, and it shows in every bite of her food. Maejoo is a place where the heart and soul come to rest.Our go-to dish is the Hot Stone Bibimbap, which has amazing crispy rice underneath a bed of tender vegetables and deliciously marinated meat. The egg is also perfectly runny, and the entire dish combines for a flavor explosion in your mouth. I prefer the Spicy Pork, and my partner goes for the Beef; no choice is a bad one!As an appetizer, theres no dish that stands out more than Sues Korean Fried Chicken. These wings have exactly the right texture with the bread remaining crispy while the sauce emenates flavor. Ditch BonChon or Buffalo Wild Wings and go here for your chicken fix instead!Were also huge fans of the Short Rib Bulgogi, though again theres no wrong meat choice. Order it with the Pork Gyoja Salad, which is a beautiful take on a classic appetizer, adding vegetables on top of gyoja to really bring the dish together.The Japchae is our sneaky pick; despite usually being only a vegetarian dish, it comes with the same delicious beef you can get on other dishes. This is quite literally the only form of kale Ive ever truly enjoyed, and I love it so much that weve even asked to take some home with us before!Overall, Maejoo is exactly the kind of hometown restaurant you want around. This is the second time I order take out, the chicken is so good even though it’s been deep fried it’s not to oily or dried. I love the flavors for the fried chicken so far I’ve tried the spicy honey chipotle, spicy sweet chili, just fried with wasabi green onions and the very spicy honey chipotle sauce. For those who like very spicy food that is for you. I liked all the sauces I’ve tried so far but I have to say the very spicy is actually spicy. The spicy beef ramen is so good, it has lots of flavor. Love the lava pickle radish. Every thing that I have order so far is good. The down side is that there is no patio or outside sitting area it’s just take out for now.

2022-04-27 06:29:12Cute little authentic mom and pop shop. I came in for lunch and the little family running the shop was eating, and the foods looked so delicious, so I ordered the tenders with their wings. Also, their pickled spicy radish was probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Delicious.
